Email attachments sometimes disappear when sending to a PC user

When I send an email with an attachment (normally a PDF or JPG), in of course an exceptable size, to a PC user, the attachment will disappear for them. When they receive and open the email, only a small gray outlined box appears for them, with an "X" through it. This does not always happen for me, only for certain PC users. I have a feeling ti may be a setting error on their end, but I need to make sure. I would love to have a fix for the issue or else a solution to tell the client to try. Thanks.

Oh man! So they say "We know this is a bug and we can't fix it since Tiger" ????? This is Apple with an army of developers and they can't fix this annoying issue???? WHAT???? I think this is a not a day more problem to fix and their professional OS X Server is affected by this problem as well and they don't fix it... their own software... what a customer care!!!
Anyway it sounds ******** and the solution is the same category... if you have only one mail in the mailbox and move to an other on a certain type of server it's getting corrupted, but the rebuild process works and when you move back it will be corrupted again! They should fix this but it looks like they will never fix it... it's a shame from a big company which sells premium products.
So if you still in contact with an Apple technician and they're opened I can provide both of the server platform when the problem can be proofed. (one where the sync is ok and one where it isn't and only with one mail in it ) Please contact me and I can help!
You can try other mail softwares and they can handle the imap protocol without major problems. I tried the following ones:
- Postbox
- Thunderbird
- Sparrow
- Mail Mate
Both works very wall but any of them is so integrated as the mail app with osx. Unfortunately if you live in the apple ecosystem and own more than one mac computer you will stuck with the apple one with all of its bugs.
...since Tiger... I can't get over it...
Sorry guys I getting angry when I hear this kind of stories...

  • PDF email attachments got stripped when sending to Blackberry

    Every time when I forward email with PDF file attachment from my Macbook Pro (IOS 10.6.8, Mail.app 4.5) to any Blackberry recipient it got stripped out!  On the contrary, that same attachment can be found on other browser with no problem.  I personally own Macbook Pro, Iphone 4 and Blackberry with POP3 and Gmail email addresses.  I have tested sending from one to another email account myself in different ways and quite confident that the problem must come from Mail.app in my Macbook Pro.  Forwarding email with PDF attachment either from BB or from Iphone is OK.
    Does anyone having this problem?  or I did something wrong.  I have tried with both plain text and rich text but no success. Thank you.

    Did you find a resolution to this issue.  I am seeing the issue recently too, it's doesn't appear to be limited to sending to Blackberries.  I have one Mac user in the office, he sent an email with an attachment to a PC user in the office and the attachment got stripped.
    I also have a PC user in the office that was attempting to receive an email from a external Mac user and the PDF attachment was stripped.  The Mac user asked a PC user to send and I worked.
    Any help will be useful.

  • HT2623 How to make my full name disappear when sending from my primary email address.

    I would like to make my full name disappear when sending from my primary email address. so the recipient when receives my email can see only my email address, i.e. email address of the sender. In Preferences, Accounts, my full name is greyed out and I cannot change it. If I try to do Custom, it would let me change it, i.e. delete my name from Full Name box, but then when Mail is closed and reopened, it would lose the previously saved Custom setting and go back to the same. All my other aliases associated with this email account work ok and the receiver sees only the email address.
    Does anyone know what is going on?

    What if you remove the .mac account from the Accounts panel under mail Preference?
    If that doesn't work, sign into the webmail at me.com, click the "sprocket" button and select preference, in preference go the the aliases tab see if you can remove the email address with your name. If not, go to composing tab see if there is anything you can remove from the +Identity: send email as field+. Good luck.

    How can I have the title of the document be in the email subject line automatically when sending?

    It can be done if you use a script, like this one:
    this.mailDoc({cTo: "[email protected]", cSubject: this.title});

  • Mail disappears when send clicked

    About 3 days ago email I have composed began to disappear entirely when I click Send.  It does not go into Sent, Draft, Outbox or any other mailbox nor does it get delivered.  I just disappears.  This includes Replies as well as New messages.  Incoming email is received normally although I've been having some problems with Rules not being used properly but that could be totally unrelated.
    There are no error messages...none.  The ONLY thing I can find is a message in Console like this for a test email I just tried to send: "9/13/12 9:31:36.898 AM Mail[1443]: deleting invalid message from outbox".  Clicking Inspector for the message provides nothing that I understand and cannot copy nor can I Grab it to attach.  We also have an XP PC using Outlook Express, the same email provider (RoadRunner) and account that sends email without a problem.
    Does anyone have any idea why this happening?  Seaching the web or these Support Communities for the Console message provides no useable results.
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    In Mail, if you click on the Sent mailbox in the Sidebar, and then on Mailbox in the command bar, and then place the cursor on the Command to Use This Mailbox for, are the choices black or gray?  What you describe would most match needing to choose the Sent as the destination of message sent from Mail.  Is not required with all accounts, but can be the cause of this.

  • Email Attachments Become Corrupted When Moved to a Different Mailbox

    I believe that I have stumbled upon a bug in Mountain Lion mail.  Here is the set up:
    Server:
    Mac OS X Mountain Lion Server 10.8.2 running IMAP email service
    Clients:
    An assortment of Macs all running Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 using Mail as the mail client over IMAP.
    Issue:
    Ever since upgrading all company Macs to Mountain Lion we have recieved complaints from people that email attachments are occationaly becoming currupted once moved to other mailboxes such as the Trash or even other IMAP folders.  The symptom has not been observed to occur with other mail services such as gMail or iCloud but rather seems to be isolated to how Mountain Lion Mail handles moved emails with attachments on an IMAP service hosted on Mountain Lion server.  The issue also seems to be related to PDF attachments only.  We could not get the issue to reoccur with say a Pages document.  The issue also does not always occur but occurs about 90% of the time.
    The email essentially goes from looking normal in the inbox to containing this text in it after it has been moved to another mailbox (obviously the real thing is like a hundred pages long):
    --Apple-Mail=_6C0E1272-08D2-7895-83FF-2F03EF82B31D
    Content-Disposition: inline;
              filename="example.pdf"
    Content-Type: application/pdf;
              x-unix-mode=0644;
              name="example.pdf"
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
    JVBERi0xLjMKJcTl8uXrp/Og0MTGCjQgMCBvYmoKPDwgL0xlbmd0aCA1IDAgUiAvRmlsdGVyIC9G

    mOCBv8dJ13YMUFXFso+P7WO/4xTvyJrpYjKdf3zev2DxxA5nKhj+bNW+k1dk+6+E3Rnjc4QFtgMo
    Ikx8qIT1uQiMCoE0OxAecQPZKIwslTq
    Now if that same email, now moved into a new mailbox, apearing corupted to the Mac Mail client, is viewed from say an iPhone or iPad, the attachment appears normal.  If a new Mac client is set up to read that email account that email also appears normal.  This would indicate that issue does not seem to be occuring server side but however seems related to a cashe issue with the Mail client.
    Temporary Fix:
    Now this is not a good fix but deleting the entire /User/Library/Mail folder and forcing Mail to completely reconnect to the IMAP server and redownload all headers and attachements fixes the issue.  However this only fixes the emails that once appeard corrupted to the client.  Any new emails moved around will continue to get corupted.  Syncronizing the mailbox does nothing to rectify the issue.
    Plee for help:
    Obviosuly this is a serious issue and must be rectified.  We are using the most standard and Mac friendly/default set up possible (even a Mac server).  Has anyone expereinced this issue or want to venture a guess on how to fix it?  Does it seem like a bug in the Mail client to you?  Any ideas???
    I really apprecaite the help.
    -Christian

  • Why do I have trouble with attachments being stripped when sending email via Earthlink Webmail using Firefox?

    I recently built a new computer running Win 8.1. However, I have had trouble sending and receiving attachments with Earthlink Webmail on Firefox. I sometimes cannot see attachments to emails I receive, although the size of the file indicates they are there. When I try to send an email with attachments, the browser contacts Earthlink, and then the message reappears, but the attachments have been stripped. If I hit Send again, the message goes, but without the attachments. If I re-attach the attachments and hit send, they are again stripped. I contacted Earthlink support, and they told me it is a problem with Firefox. I then tried IE and was able to send the attachments without a problem.
    I would really appreciate any help as Firefox is my browser of choice.

    1. Not sure how to send an email in a private browsing window... I use Earthlink Web Mail and I cannot find anything on that site about private browsing window.
    2. Have not tried this yet, but will when I get a chance.
    3. Not sure. My old computer ran XP. Never had the problem with it. Right now, it is not connected to the internet, so can't check it.
    4. I neglected to mention... I did try IE and it worked fine.
    I do have Norton 360 installed, but it was not a problem on the XP machine.
    Thanks for your response. I have been so busy lately that I just now picked up your response. I have not had time t to try anything else.
    As far as the file type, I was trying to send pdf files. Have not tried other file types.
    Earthlink limits messages (and attachments) to 20 MB. The files were less than 3 MB.

  • Attachments versus signature when sending to Outlook

    Based upon my research, I imagine people will say the problem is on the Outlook end of things -- but I still want to know if there's a way to solve my "attachment vs. signature" problem better than the wonky workaround I've developed.
    FYI: we're running Mac OS X 10.6.6, and therefore have Mail 4.4.
    I recently switched a number of my users from Entourage to Mail. Now when they send messages with attachments to Outlook users (tested both Outlook 2003 and 2010), the images appear inline instead of as attachments. I've determined this is because they are sending in HTML or RTF format. Plain text makes the files show up as attachments on the other end -- however, it also converts their signature from body copy into a TXT attachment, even if there's no formatting at all in the signature.
    So I'm left with two options right now:
    1. Send in RTF or HTML format -- makes the signature show up right on the other end, but attachments appear embedded in the body. If you right-click on the image file and choose "save picture as", the save dialog box not only doesn't remember the original file name, but it also automatically defaults to BMP format, even if the original attachment was a JPG -- very bad!
    2. Send in plain text -- makes the attachments show up as actual attachments on the other end, but even a plain-text signature is converted into an attachment, which looks pretty stupid.
    The only solution I can find that works 100% of the time is a pain to do.
    1. Write your message.
    2. Select all the copy (including your signature) and cut.
    3. Make sure the message is in plain text format (if it wasn't already).
    4. Click in the now-empty body and paste -- this combines the message you wrote and your text signature into one chunk of text with no "signature" attached.
    5. Click after the end of the message (also after the signature).
    6. Attach your images.
    7. Send.
    I don't mind forcing my users to use plain text format all the time if it'll make attachments appear correct on the other end -- but having the signature converted into an attachment too is a hiccup I shouldn't have to also make them deal with. Does anyone know a better way around this?

    Edit > Attachments > Always Insert Attachments at End of Message

  • Hi, We have a problem opening email attachments, specifically word, when the mail is sent from an Entourage client.

    It seems the mail is sent in plain text and when I try to open the attachment on my phone i just get a screen with the document name and type. If I send a plain text mail from my outlook client with the same attachment then this works fine.
    Is there anything I can do to make these attachments open on my iPhone?
    Thanks in advance
    Phil

  • Email stuck in Outbox when sending to multiple recipients.

    I am using Outlook 2010.  When I forward an email to multiple recipients it gets stuck in the Outbox.  I have reduced the number of recipients and the same email will sale on through.  I am getting an error code 0X8DE00006 and MS disavows
    any knowledge of it.  Is there a cure or do I have to send the forward email several times to small groups?

    Hi,
    From your description, I recommend you check if you limit the number of recipients you can have on an email.
    If yes, please increase the value and check the result.
    Hope it helps.

  • Signatures disappear when sending file attachment in iPad Mail

    Whenever I send an attachment from GoodReader or Pages the file appears at the bottom of the message and my default signature disappears.  How can I send files with a signature?

    Hi,
    Attachment Content is not Mandatory to enter unless you wish to override the Attachment Property.
    Basically we use this content along with Encoded Image Property like chart, spc and image loader action block.
    If you are loading file from system using Proper path in Attachment Section then no need to use Attachment Content section.
    Ensure that you have set the Attachment Content Type to "application/pdf" to send pdf files and a valid File path in Attachment section.
    Hope this helps!!
    Regards,
    Adarsh

  • Email sits in outbox when sending

    I have an intermittent problem where mail sent using an exchange account sits in the outbox until I go into the outbox, retrieve it and click send again. This does not happen all the time, which is a problem, since I never know if the mail is sent or not without checking the outbox. Anyone else have this issue? I am running 3GS with 4.1.

    Do you have any single bars when this happens, and does it say "3G" at the top of the screen by the AT&T logo?

  • Picture "mms" email sent multiple times when sending to another phone

    I sent a picture using gmail to a friend's cell phone (Verizon) to [email protected] so they can get is as an MMS text. They received the message, but about a day or two later they received the message again about 15 times. I went into my sent folder and deleted the message and that seemed to stop it from being sent. This has happened multiple times. Anyone know why it would be doing this? Hopefully MMS will be added in a future update it would make it so much easier to send and receive pics.

    Not sure why and although I've done this only a few times, I have not experienced the same but I haven't used a Gmail account for this. Do you access another email account on your iPhone besides your Gmail account? If so, try using another account for sending all MMS via email to see if the same occurs.

  • IPad 3 aol email is not relaying when sending emails?

    I have tried turning main server off n creating new but then said username or password wrong. Help

    I copied this from another discussion and this may be what you already tried, but take a look to be sure. I edited some of the content that was not relevant to the question.
    Go to the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" settings panel under "Settings."  Click on the "AOL" account.  Click on "Account".  Under "Outgoing Mail Server" click on "SMTP".  Under "Primary Server" it says "smtp.aol.com" and is probably set to "On".  Change this setting to "Off".  Then click on "Add Server..." under "Other SMTP Servers".  Add "smtp.aol.com" as the Host Name, Your AOL account as the user name (without "@aol.com"), and your AOL password.  Your outgoing mail should now work.  I believe the problem is that on my wife's phone, "@aol.com" is somehow getting added to the sendmail request under the default settings for the Primary SMTP server.  This bypasses that problem.  Best of luck...
