EMAIL AUTOMATIC RETRIEVAL PROBLEM

Hi,
I just detected a strange behavior I cannot explain.
I have my n95-4 configured with AUTOMATIC RETRIEVE to get MESSAGES with a maximum size of 5kb by a POP account.
The messages are retrieved, but some of them, when you open them are EMPTY. ALWAYS messages smaller than 5kb. If you pres RETRIEVE again you get the complete message.
This happends in a RANDOM basis, but a lot of times a day.
I have detailed screen shoots if someone is interested.
Any ideas?

This sounds like a reasonable request, is the v11 firmware just broken in this regard?

E71 automatic retrieval problems

Just bought the Nokia E71 but having problems with the email automatic retrieval. I have done all the required settings for it but it does not automatically retrieve. I had an E61i until now and the auto frretrieval worked fine so I know what it's about...any advice??? one thing is that when I go into the email setting and the auto retrieval section ans then come back out it starts to retrieve automatically but only that once...all other times I have to manually retrieve...I am using Eircom Net email system in Ireland...please advise

I also moved from an e61i to and E71 but didn't have any problems moving my mail accounts. I have three on the phone (MFE, POP3, and IMAP4). All work fine.
Can you connect manually to the Eircom Net email service?
What settings are you using for the "Access point in use" under the "Connection settings"? I've never had any luck getting this to work using WIFI and have all 3 accounts setup to use my ATT 3G Connection.
Also, check your "Retrieval settings" and "Automatic Retrieval" configuration to make sure they are correct.

Nokia 5800 email automatic retrieval

Hi everyone.
I am trying to set up my email so that they are retrieved automatically every 2 hours. The problem is that it works only when I set my home connection on the email account and not the default option. That means that when I am home it works fine but when I leave home and go to somewhere else with an open wifi or another known wifi it cant update, not even manually! It says it cant find the WLAN.
This is not very convinient since I move around alot and so the only way to work with my email is to have default option for the mail account wifi connection and retrieve them manually.
Is there something I am doing wrong?
I have also set up most of my wifi connections from the destinations menu "use access point:automatically".
PS also have the RSS unknown error when trying to open web feeds....

on s60v3 fp2 devices there is the possibility to create connection groups. then you have a new "connection" f.e. "my connection group" that has to be selected in the programs and this connection group handels to try wifi at first and gprs/3g at second. i think the 5800 doesnt have connection groups so you have so search for a program that works on s60v5 like Psiloc Connect or BirdStep SmartConnect.

what does this exactly do thats different to "Mailbox Update Interval" on the nokia email client? Not sure wether to have it set to on or off or how it works when an update interval is set.

Not sure but it may be like when you set automatic retrival with the time interval.. It syncs with the server at the given interval automatically.. When you set it to Off.. the messages will get sync only when you select the sync option manually...

N97 Automatic Retrieval Emails - Won't work

Hi, I have had my N97 for 6 months now and it's been working fine and my emails have been automatically been retrieved every 5 minutes as set. When I wanted to upload the new Ovi Maps I did not have enoght memory so reset the phone and started all over again.
My N97 is working fine again apart from the Automatic Retrieval for emails. I have the automatic retrieval set (as is was set prior to the reset) but it is not now connecting every 5 mins and I have to manually connect it to see if I have any emails. When I connect manually I can retrieve emails OK and I can also send emails OK, it is the automatic retrieval that will not work, although it is set up. The phones software is also up to date.
Any ideas anyone?

I get a screen telling me that some of the updates require a restart and I click ok to continue and restart now.
It's 9 programs by now:
- iDVD 7.1.2
- Remote desktop client update 3.5.3
- security update 2012-004 1.0

What does "Automatic Retrieval" do under email dow...

Hi there
on my nokia 6303, under my downloading settings for my email, i have various settings:
Retrieve mode
Retrieval amount
Mailbox update interval
Automatic retrieval
I can set mailbox update interval to say 30 minutes or 1 hour or so and the phohne will check for new emails at that interval and report any new ones.
But what does the "automatic retrieval" function do? When i set it to on or off it seems to make no difference. Does anyone know specifically how I should set this?

Multiple IMAP accounts + automatic retrieval

Hello,
I have a 6790 (surge)... I was getting automatic email w/o any problems. But then I added another acount, and bang, it just stoped checking email.
Now I have to go into the inbox, and tell it to get the emails... very annoying... I want my automatic retrieval back!
Has anyone encountered this issue?

Solved:
For incoming mail, I had switched the connection type to: default... if this is set, it won't work. You need to set it to an actual connection... in my case, I choose "Rogers Internet" and it not works, for both accounts.

E72 - Email Automatically Connecting

Hi Everyone,
I have just changed to a E72 from a E51.
On my E51, I had 2 email accounts setup and had the phone configured to check for new mail every 30 minutes. This worked perfectly well. Note that 30 mins was the earliest interval allowed.
On trying to setup the same accounts on the E72, I was forced to go through the Nokai Messaging wizard, which was a bit of an annoyance, but I eventually have both accounts created and have them configured to check for new mail every 15 mins, using GPRS as the default access point.
The one annoying thing that I can't seem to get round is preventing the phone form automatically connecting to my mailbox every time I go into the account to check what headers have been downloaded. For example, on my E51, I would get notified of new mail and could open the Inbox for the account and view the headers WITHOUT the phone connecting to the server.
Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening on the E72.
Any help appreciated.

I can't help because I think this cannot be disabled. I just want to confirm how annoying is this problem on the E72. When automatic retrieval is active, the phone checks for new messages, gives notification and when the user opens the mailbox to see the new messages, it immediately checks again. This is not logical and not necessary! A question like "Do you want to connect..." is good solution, and it's not something new because it already works like this on E71, E51 etc.

5800 Stop Automatic Retrieval from Deactivating

I have an excellent Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, I am very very happy with it.
The email facility is great and I have the Automatic Retrieval activated every 5 minutes to check my email. The only problem is, for some reason if it can't connect, it switches off the Automatic Retrieval and stops checking my email. Sometimes I'm not aware that it's switched off.
Does anyone know how to stop the Automatic Retrieval from deactivating?

I don't think there is anything wrong with my mail server. Just tested my server with my HTC phone and works good.
I don't believe there is anythink wrong with my phone, phone battery or my settings.
In deed my phone was purchased like yours, paid full price, sim free, factory unlocked and with one year of factory warranty.
What I think is happening during e-mail retrieval when phone is out of network, and or have a difficulty to retrieve new e-mail is that phone instead of trying to reconect on next atempt (which is what should be) is just stopping retrieving at all! and that's bad. Would you like to missed important message becouse of that? I don't think so..

I can't automatically retrieve CD track names from Internet after upgrade itunes to 9.0.2. Is it a bug for this update or I did something worng. I am using macbook pro with 10.5.8. Thanks.

I have exactly the same problem. The MP4 files are valid and I'm using the same application to create them as I always did. I drag the MP4 file to itunes and nothing happens. If I use "Add File" or "Add Folder" nothing happens. If you find a fix, let me know because this is a major impact to me as well!

Facebook & Email not retrieving notifications (iPhone 4S)

Whenever my phone connects to a wifi network, facebook and email do not automatically retrieve messages. I must turn off my phone and turn it back on. Any suggestions?

I'll add that it works fine when not connected to wifi network. I receive notification instantly.. However, when I switch to a wifi network, the only way for notifications to come through is to go to the program itself and it'll update notifications then. If I disconnect from a wifi network, the issues still stays until I reboot the phone.

Why did Thunderbird stop getting emails automatically?

Thunderbird had been receiving emails automatically for some time. Now, and for no apparent reason, I need to click "Get Mail" twice to get them. I checked my settings and it's still set to check emails on startup and to automatically download new messages. Any suggestions?

E71 - cannot set automatic retrieval

Hi all,
I have set up my E71 email which works fine - I can send and receive both over WLAN & through GPRS - but when I set "Automatic Retreival" I don't get the option to set the retreival interval, so I cannot get automatic retrieval. Is there some other pre-requisite for it to work? Firmware 110.07.127

From your description, I recommend you check if you can set automatic reply via OWA externally. If yes, please configure the autodiscover in your environment and check if you can set automatic reply via Outlook externally. The Autodiscover service is responsible
for providing the URLs for various Outlook features that manage functionality such as OOF, free/busy information and so on.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
