Email Blacklisting - New IP address

Not sure if I am on the right forum. I work from home and have a dedicated email address etc hosted by HeartUK. Every 2 weeks or so I keep getting blacklisted by dnsbl etc saying that the ip address has been listed of sending spam etc. I have an imac 2014 running mavericks. My provider said You can get around this by either contacting your ISP and requesting a new IP address. Please advise as it is getting very frustrating whem email keeps getting rejected by clients servers.

Unfortunately you have dynamic IP addresses if you are a BT residential customer. This means, as imjoly has said, it changes every time you disconnect and re-connect to the internet  If you work from home and a static IP address is important to you, you should consider getting a business account with BT and you can have a static IP address.

    Not sure if you are on the Cisco network, or on a different firewalled network, but in order to login the ports from the link below need to be allowed through the firewall.

    Thanks for the help Niel.  I couldn't change the rescue email address (an address that no longer exists and is therefore useless) until I could correctly answer the security questions.  After numerous guesses, finally got them right.  Was then presented with the option to change the rescue email address. Guess the only other option was to have Apple Support make the change or reset my account info.  Have made note of the correct answers so this won't happen again.   Thanks for the fast response!!

    Yes, I do have it turned.
    When I type the first few letters of the address, it shows the correct address. When I hit <enter>, the name appears in the address section twice. Only began to happen after the downloaded update.

    You can not merge accounts.
    Apps are tied to the Apple ID used to download them, you can not transfer them.

    On 10/6, I was emailing someone at a large company with no problem. Until after 4p, when anything I tried to send (new messages, replies, etc.) to the company was rejected: SMTP error from remote mail server after initial connection: host zzzz.zz.zzz [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]: 554-zzzz.zz.zzz 554 Your access to this mail system has been rejected due to the sending MTA's poor reputation. If you believe that this failure is in error, please contact the intended recipient via alternate means. Every blacklist check I've run on my own hosting company's IPs (where my mail server is) comes up clean. However, when I run the Verizon IP (173.65.xxx.xxx) it shows up on at least 4 blacklists. This could explain why I haven't received responses from a few other important contacts. Sending a note from Y! went thru fine. I can receive emails with no problem. So what can I do to get this resolved? Who can I contact at Verizon (and I don't want that link for adding to a white list at Verizon since I can receive with no problems)? Thanks

    I wasn't using verizon.net either POP3 or SMTP before. Spent 20 minutes w/ tech#1 - told him how I changed the email SMTP settings to what is instructed on the website (HA! - see below) and couldn't connect outgoing. Tech #1 said turn off router would reboot on his end and I'd get new IP address.  Turned router back on after 20 minutes - same IP same problems.
    Back to chat with tech #2. This was at least a 45 minute chat. Explained problem again. Explained how I set up outgoing email. He said it was wrong (even though I told him I went by what was on the website:
      Outgoing mail server (SMTP): outgoing.verizon.net  (WRONG - outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net)
    Your Verizon Online user name (To me Online User Name != Webmail User Name   Could be the same but why not say [email protected])
    Your Verizon Online password (Again, these can be different)
    Nothing about "Use Secure Connection", nothing about "Port Setting" (which is different from the default)  and that is a totally different discussion for another topic...
    Verified settings were correct, verified the "From" address was accurate and setup on Y!, but still got error message saying Y! could not verify "From" address not, so can't even send it. He said it "should work with the settings, using the [email protected] as a 'workaround' " then came back and said there was an open issue with Y! and sending from email clients. So we are using Y! becuase??????????????????????
    After the 45+ min session, I left it as he would again reboot the system after I turned off my router. After rebooting, I did get a new IP. Now my email is back working as it was (especially going to that one business contact), and I am using my email server on my hosting company again.
    All in all, I appreciate the second tech's willingness to help (tech #1 did not tell me anything that tech #2 told me, or said was wrong). Having incorrect and/or incomplete information in a Help or Settings section on a website is just lazy and sloppy. But if I am going to have this potential problem again, I may have to look at other options.

    1. Exchange 2010 Version 14.3 (Build 123.4).
    2. Echange 2013 Version 15.0 (Build 1044.25).
    I have created new OAB and arbitration mailbox following
    this article.
    It  is result of command:

    But when i try generate new OAB using command:

    Roughly translation from Russian is - "Cannot create a new Offline Address Book
    "\OAB-FAB" This may be caused to two reasons: the service "Mailbox Assistant service." did not started on "SRV-MAILBOX.xxx.local"
    server or you  do not have permission to perform this operation.
    I investigated this situation and found out that i have "Organisation Management" role on my account, and "Mailbox Assistant service." is started on server "SRV-MAILBOX.xxx.local".
    I try to restart the service but it does not fix this issue.
    Please help me ;)

    How did you create a new OAB and an OAB Generation Mailbox? When creating new OABs after Exchange CU5, we need to specify the GeneratingMailbox property.
    For example:

    Set-Mailbox "BK Arbitration OAB" –Arbitration –OABGen $true

    Just this week changed from Talk Talk /toucansurf to a BT broadband and phone service.
    I can access my emails ie receive and send from my new BT yahoo account and have good connection to the internet
    BUT
    Before I totally cancel my  Talk Talk account I need to know whether the
    1)existing emails in my inbox
    2) the emails that are stored in folders I have created
    3) and my contacts address book
    will disappear when I make the full switch ????

    You should be able to export your contacts to a file, then import them to your BT account. As for folders, if they are stored within the Windows Live program, they you should be able to save the contents.
    If they are stored on a remote server, and you access them by webmail, then you may lose them unless you use an IMAP account to duplicate the folders on your computer, where you can save the contents.

    as they are more likely to know how their email servers work.

    Edit the SMTP server list. Add a new one for the business account. Put the correct password and information for it. Give it a description so you will know which server is which. Mke sure the correct server is highlighted in the account selected and check the box to use only that server for that account. Do that for the other account also.

  • Bounced emails: automatically deactivating bad addresses...

    Just wanted a little feedback on what strategy might be best for automating the deactivation process. I have a database with a list of addresses that needs to be frequently updated-- any messages that I receive in a certain inbox are typically bounced emails and I wish to deactivate these addresses in my database so I no longer send to them.
    The best method I can think of, short of going through and manually identifying the original address I sent to (I've got better things to do!), seems to be to develop a method which parses the entire header and finds any email addresses (rebuilding any tokens that contain '@') and through brute force, simply tries to deactivate any and all reconstructed email addresses that I find. Not a very elegant method, I know. Since I won't be needing to automatically send emails to myself (return addresses and original sender) and anyone else of the 'postmaster' or 'MAILER-DAEMON' variety, I assume that any other email addresses contained within the header (somewhere)will be the one(s) that I'm looking for. Is this a fair assumption?
    Has any got a suggestion on how to improve this crude parsing? Everything I've read online suggests that a 100% success rate is impossible due to the lack of standards imposed on header content. Anything I send out is not guaranteed to come back to me, according to my understanding, so what other options may be available?

    Here's the first bit of code for testing my brute-force method... It seems to work fine as long for generating possible addresses as there are no instances of '@' at the beginning or end of a parsable-string-- ie. " @xxx", "xxx@ ", etc.. I'm working on that part right now... shouldn't be too hard. Can anyone see possible/definite flaws or improvements/issues I may want to consider? Any comments on this code are much appreciated.

    It sounds like you were given some bad information.  What happens when you cancel service at an address is that the User ID/email address is suspended for 90 days.  After that it is released back into the pool of available IDs for any other customer who wants it.  You should have set up a transfer of the old ID to the new service address before you moved.  However, you can call Comcast security and see if they can retrieve the ID and the emails for you------------------------------

    Thanks.  I got the problem fixed.  Spent time with the Apple folks and was kicked up to a senior advisor.  It seems the problem was with my internet provider - Tmie Warner.  Remember I could use the old ipad and the iphone to send mail.  I checked all the specifics between the three units.  It seems that TW is changing over from the RR.com  to TWC.com.  Since the new ipad air was just set up, it fell under the new TWC mail specifics.
