Email cache

I am running OS 10.1.0.4181
I did a wipe of my phone and reinstalled the POP email.
Now I notice that the phone is has an email cache of email addresses listed on other emails (that are not in my address book), that come up when i go to address an email.
How do I get rid of these cached email addresses?

Milan90, as stated previously in this thread, there is currently no way to remove those cached email addresses.
Your suggetion of apps to ADD them to your contacts, is not what the user is asking for. Just the opposite.

  • Clear email cache

I sent an email to someone with old email address. I now have the new one.
But when I go send him a new email and start typing his name be comes up
automatically comes up with the wrong address and the right one.
Is there a way to clear previous sent email addresses? You can on the
    desktop version of apple mail.

The iPhone's mail client includes a list of previous recipients as is included with the Mail.app on a Mac.
It isn't possible to access the list of previous recipients with the iPhone's mail client as is possible with the Mail.app on a Mac - at the present time anyway.

  • 2.1 update clears all cached emails

I noticed that 2.1 update cleared all emails cached on phone. The phone was re-downloading them all. I have GMail, Yahoo and an Exchange account synced with iPhone and this happened for all of them.
Anyways, BEWARE all those who have a cap on your data plan!

Thanks to mscott_mdm I think I have a solution; well it fixed my server.  Apparently, sometimes the database migration script doesn't apply correctly and fails doing something with the usage logging.  mscott_mdm provides a couple of commands (Server 3.2.1 update fail) that fix the DB and allow the migration to complete.  After running these two commands from the Terminal my system was up-and-running again like new.
It ***** that Apple released an update that doesn't work, and that they didn't officially patch it.  But at least the community came through.

  • Excel 2013 hangs after sharing document per email

    Hello everyone.
We have an issue with Outlook 2013.
If you disable local email caching in Outlook 2013 and you are trying to share a document via email in e.g. Excel (but also Acrobat reader and several other programs) the email gets send, but Excel hangs (not responding).
When you enable the local cache the problem disappears.
This is an issue for us, since we are using ssd's with limited capacity and the cache file can increase untill somewhere between 25 and 30 GB.
Is there a different solution to this issue? And why is this happening in the first place?

    Hi,
Try to test whether the issue will occur to all the computers. If not, then try to repair and disable all the add-ins to check the issue.

  • Aol email password does not stay in phone

    Aol works now for about 5 minutes on my phone after I delete and reinstall.  I get the following email from Verizon;
Your account [email protected] could not be authenticated. If you have recently changed your email password, please enter the most current password in settings to continue receiving emails.
Bought the phone in October and it worked fine up until 3 months ago.  About every week or so I would get the above email and would reconfigure the account and it would get emails for about a week.  Now it only takes a few minutes to get the email and for the phone to stop receiving AOL.
The entered password is correct.  We have not changed it.
My wife and sons have the same phone and have no problems accessing the account
Spoke to Verizon support yesterday and they said they were not sure what was going on and we did a hard reset and the problem still exists.
Spoke to Best Buy Samsung experience rep who said the problem is that only one phone can access aol.  Why did it work for 2 years with the older phones and for 6 months with the new?
I really use this email a lot now to communicate with teams I coordinate.  Anyone have a solution?  Thanks

Have you removed that AOL account from the list....and tried to set up it from scratch ?
Looks like the internal AOL database files have been corrupted., and needs be removed completely from your s3.
Aside from a total Phone reset..this is how I solved this on different droid devices.:
1.) Clean your AOL Email CACHE out completely,on the settings..app. menu, .. Before removing your AOL acct and settings. SHUT cel off completely and do a hard reboot.
2.) And...From your  AOL.9.5 User  master account, CHANGE your AOL PW from  via a   PC ..THEN set up your AOL acct. on  your Cel phone with the new sign in PW.
Re-do the AOL acct, as per your Droid's recommended procedure. ...only on the 3/4g  VZW  network. .Don' t do it on a WiFi .
I try  to stay FAR away from the AOL app.like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aol.mobile.aim&hl=en

  • How do I delete previously used email addresses?

I used an email once and now I can't get rid of it...  When I am composing a message and type the beginning of an address it comes up and it is not in my contacts.  How do I clear the email cache? Have not been able to find a way to get rid of it.

Apple’s Mail program stashes away a list of previously used addresses to help speed up your e-mail chores, but it saves these addresses whether they are correct or not. Fortunately, it’s possible to open up the list and weed out all the unwanted, outdated or incorrect addresses at one sitting.
To do so, open the Mail program, go to the Window menu and choose Previous Recipients. The Previous Recipients window opens with a sortable list of the names and e-mail addresses of people you have corresponded with in the past, as well as the date of when the address was last used. Click the Name, E-mail or Last Used bar at the top of the column to sort the list on your preferred criteria.
To remove someone from the Previous Recipients list so that Mail won’t try to auto-complete the address, click on the entry to select it and then click the Remove From List button in the bottom left corner of the window. You can select multiple entries at once by holding down the Mac’s Command key to highlight several addresses as you go. Click the Remove From List button to zap all the selected addresses at once.
If you find a contact that you’d like to officially add to the Mac’s Address Book program, select it and click the Add to Address Book button in the bottom right corner of the window.

  • Auto-fill in email address hangs up when i start with letter 'a'

No problem with other letters.... tried all the solutions on CNET blog  (re-imported address book, got rid of previous recipients list, made some library changes, etc.), all very carefully... but when i type the letter 'a' (as a first letter) the system acts like it is cataloguing or searching, BUT this does not happen on any other letter.  AND it happens even if it is a second or third name in the address line that starts with 'a'.  What could this be?  Something corrupt in the import of old addressed from my old macbook to my new one?   many thanks.

I'm having the same issue. I have an old email address I want to delete from the "previously sent email cache" and not sure how to do it, or if it's even possible.
You can clear Safari's cache on iPhone but not Mail.app's it seems. (you can in OS X though)
There should be a clear cache option in Prefs, no?
    Maybe on the next update?
I'm sure it's pretty low on the list for Apple.

  • How do I delete the mail cache in my ipod touch 4G?

Can some one tell me how I can delete the email cache in my Ipodtouch 4G?  I have many old email contacts, I have deleted them from my address book but they still appear when I start creating a new email.  Thanks

The ONLY way is to restore as new.

  • Chunk of iPhone emails missing

I've not had this problem on my IMAP email before.  About a months worth of emails has disappeared from my iPhone email.  They appear in webmail and mac mail, but not on the iPhone.  I get one from yesterday, then a missing month or so, and then some more from back in March.
Tried removing the mail account on the iPhone and re-adding it but to no avail.
Looks like there is some iPhone email cache that needs to be reset, but how???

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
Try using the Rebuild command on this mailbox to which you moved the messages. Click on Mailbox in the menubar, and choose Rebuild. Be aware that the list of messages will disappear at one point, before returning.

  • Emai Recipient Cache

When people email me from an address different from the one I have listed in my address book, it seems to be saved in some sort of "email cache".  How do I delete this cache of email addresses?  Is there a way to turn this feature OFF so that the email addresses are not saved at all?
    Any ideas welcome!

Memory Cleaning won't help you any... it ONLY wipes your already deleted memory space to a higher level of government requirement. It doesn't free up additonal memory space or clear the cache of email address.
Clearing your cache might help, although like Krypto said, the device is working as intended.

  • Deleting Emails only on phone

I recently switched over from a Blackberry to the iphone. I was wondering if there was an option when I can delete the emails just from my phone and leave the original copy on the server.
For the blackberry, it lets you choose individually for the emails; meaning it asks you to either delete it just from the device or on the device and the server.

I have a similar question: I set up my yahoo account to my phone yesterday. Then, since I had so many subfolders and this was my first smartphone I had set up for mobile access, I was using the iphone to move emails around in preparation of deleting out several folders I did not use any more. Now, no matter how old the messages are, they are showing up in the folder I moved them to. How do I reset the email cache so it only pulls the most recent emails, instead of recent emails and the ones I had moved using the phone?
Oh, and I had already tried deleting out the yahoo account and setting it back up.
    Thanks.

  • Clear suggested email addresses iphone

Whenever I enter a specific email address, the autocomplete feature of my iphone suggest some email addresses starting with the same letter(s). One of them has meanwhile been changed, but still appears in the suggested list. I went through my imac Addressbook and my Gmail accounts. Changed that address there also and made sure that specific email address wasn't mentioned anywhere. Then I synched my iphone again. But still, when I start typing the new email address of that person, his old email address still appears in the suggested email address list. I also cleared the previous recepients list on Apple Mail on my iMac and synched again. Nothing helps. How do I clear the previous recepients list/cache on my iphone?

There is only one way to remove this data from your phone: Restore the phone as a new device in iTunes, thus erasing all data on the phone, including this email cache. You follow this by syncing your iTunes content back to the phone.
You have to decide if its worth going through this or just living with it.

  • How good is the N97 for you to replace your multip...

Hi, a quick question for anyone who has an N97 and using it for more than communication.
I have had a Nokia of all types (6310i, N71, 6680 etc) for almost 10 years and two weeks ago, I decided to upgrade to the N97 (cost: Euro269 with Vodafone Ireland,12 month contract).
The main reason I got my N97 was to cut down on the tech clutter (Plugs, data cables and memory devices) I had for misc. media playback. I had an PSP (video playback, via 16GB MSProDuo), Ipod (music for walking & in-car audio via Belkin FM transmitter) and an N95 8GB (phone calls). Yes, I could have gotten the Iphone but the change over to O2 and the min. euro45/month fee on an 18 month contract was not worth the hassle involved.
What I wanted was, ideally, one device for all three needs: audio, video and communications.
Two weeks after getting the N97, I'm happy that it has solved two of the three requirements: Video playback & communications) but audio playback is still clunky to use & difficult to edit.
-The video: as I mentioned in another posting, porting over an .avi video file is still clumsy (I'm using Windows 7, maybe compatibility issues?). I've been using with 100% transfer/playback success -handbrake (single file) and AVS (Multiple files) to convert to .MPEG4 and file manager to drop the Mpeg4 file into "Video" folder. It's multiple steps instead of the seamless process promised by PC SUITE/OVI but, hey, it works for me!
-Audio: a huge pain to create a simple playlist for walking. I know the 2.0 firmware promised in late Oct. looks great (from the video preview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_iajkv2YE8) but trying to simply find a song is tedious in a what should have been an intuitive touch screen interface. Using the selection menu is like using Win 3.11 after using Win 7 -slow, clumsy & not designed for a smart phone. Also, the "find album art" in Nokia Music is slow & inaccurate. I do like the FM Transmitter feature and the little I have used so far in car, has been seamless to setup and a snap to use.
-Communication: This is the first touch screen phone I have had and while it has taken time to make the mental shift from hitting physical keys, I'm happy with the handset's performance. Being blunt, I really hope the firmware upgrade addresses the N97's buggy OS. I have had to hard reset twice (change all, and I mean all "Save To" setting -messages, email, cache etc, to "Mass Memory" not "Phone memory" as this seems to have stopped cold the "memory full" warnings I was getting). Also, I'm finding the camera much better with the N97 Vs the N95 8GB and the free app. PhotoBrowser (http://betalabs.nokia.com/betas/view/nokia-photo-browser) is simply amazing to use as an indexing tool. If you want to impress family with the phones functions, take a photo of them and open up PhotoBrowser for the wow! impact.
Sorry if this is long winded but while I have read a lot of postings on the site for specific issues, just wondering how anyone in general is finding using the handset/computer for day to day media use? Personally while the battery life demands I have a charger with me always, I really like having a single device that does two of the three functions I was looking for in a single unit.

  • Calendar slow/unresponsive after Mountain Lion update

I downloaded and installed OS X Mountain Lion when it came out but ever since the update the now called Calendar is so and unresponsive. For example, when I swipe or click to go to another week I get the "beach ball" and then it moves a couple of seconds later. Same with scrolling up and down. The problem goes away when turning off my iCloud calendars but then Calendar is useless to me without it.
    Any ideas?

I dragged this file onto my desktop from username/library/prefeerences:
    com.apple.iCal.plist
I also dragged these files onto my desktop from username/library/calendars:
    Email Cache.plist
    Calendar Cache
This worked for me. Thanks for the suggestion.
I shutdown iCal, logged off, and then moved the files. Then I did a complete re-boot before starting iCal again.
When I first restarted iCal it went thrrough the "Upgrading Calendars" process again.
Sorry it did not work for you.
