Email contact info

I have my company directory in my contacts on my iphone. There are several people with the same name. Too many to change. When I try to use email & select the contact there is no way to know if i selected the correct person. Is there a way to see more info when selecting an email address from contacts (instead of just the name?)

I also set up my apple ID with a new email account and also I signed up for iCloud but used the same apple I'd email and password but it gave me a I cloud email! I did activate the favorites in my email . Noticed the from field has my fathers name and contact and it is a notification about me using my apple ID to sign in to FaceTime! Something is messed up, not sure how or why???

i didn't read a lot of your 2nd paragraph, but it seems like the password is the issue, right?
do a true clean install
reboot your machine and hold down command+option+r, you should see a spinning globe - if you don't see the globe or anything that reads internet recovery, shut down and try again
at menu, chose disk utility and once there, find your HD on the left side, select the physical name and erase it as mac journaled
exit disk utlity
at menu, choose install OSX
this time, when it asks for a password just hit continue, it will let you complete without a password
you should be able to get into your laptop, now figure out what password you'll be able to use with your kb issue

Contacts display first name, last name, except if there's email address then contact info is deleted (?) and email is displayed in contact list.

Confused on these procedures to post.
My contacts should list first name last name, however any contact with an email has info phone numbers and addresses deleted and the email address is displayed in contact list. I know how to change to last name first name but that doesn't help... Any suggestions? Should I delete all contacts and reacquire all through icloud? How?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Unfortunately the Mail app on the iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch does have the option to clear previous recipients. If you don't want to live with it, the only way to remove these cached email addresses from the Mail application is by restoring the iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch as a new iPad/iPhone/iPod. If you restore from backup, the cache is also restored.

You have to get the contacts from the online address book into whatever application that you are using on your computer in order to sync them with iTunes
I have Comcast email as well and have never done this since all of my contacts in the online address book are already on my Mac. I believe that you can combine all of your contacts from Comcast and Outlook, Mac Address Book and other online email accounts then they can all sync with Outlook or Address Book on the Mac.

When i send a contact by email the email is received but without the contact info.

Can anyone help. it seems to work ok when i MMS but not on the email. the email is received but does not contain the contact info.

I have the same problem. Sought to insert a pdf into Apple Mail after editing a form pdf and only the blank form shows. I didn't use Preview to generate the form, just Acrobat. And, the filled in form inserts perfectly into an email when I use Outlook for Mac. Problem only with Apple Mail.

Since purchasing a new iPhone 5 and macbook pro with retina display I have decided to keep the iPhone 5 for phone contacts only, and the macbook for email contacts only .. Is there a way for me to keep these as they are recorded on each apple product when I sync with iTunes as it has changed my iPhone and put in email contacts and thus deleted iPhone phone contacts once when I syncd thanks appreciate any help

To prevent your iPhone from automatically syncing when you plug it in, click on iTunes in the menu bar, then preferences, then "devices", then tick "prevent iPhones, iPad's and iPod's from syncing automatically".
Plug it in, then on the iPhone sync summary screen, click "info" along the top.
Make sure the "sync contacts" option is not ticked. as long as it's not ticked, then it won't sync with your mac's contacts but will still include them in backups.
Also, if you use iCloud, make sure that the iPhone/mac are either not signed into the same account, or that "contacts" is not turned on for both of them

How do I replace address book on iMac with iPad/iPhone contact info?

I've been using my iPad and iPhone to record contact information, and they sync with each other via iCloud. I realize now I should have recording this on the iMac and then syncing with the other devices.
But at this point, I'd like to replace all address book information on my iMac with the iPad/iPhone contact information. What's the best way to do this? I'm concerned that, while trying to sync either device with the iMac, I might somehow do the opposite - replace contact info on the device with address book info from the iMac.

Start by backing up the contacts on your Mac by opening Address Book (Contacts) and going to File>Export>Contacts Archive, save this on your desktop. Then download the app My Contacts Backup to your iPhone and use it to back up your contacts as a vCard attachment to an email. Send this email to yourself. (Note: if you have >500 contacts you'll need to either purchase and use the Pro version, or follow the instructions listed under "Contacts...iCloud.com Contacts" in this guide to dowload them from icloud.com: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4910.)
I'm assuming at this point that you are NOT syncing contacts on your Mac with iCloud. If you are, do not perform the steps in this paragraph. Assuming you are not syncing your Mac contacts with iCloud, open Address Book (Contacts), go to View>Groups, then click on All Contacts. Click on a single contact, then go to Edit>Select All (Command-A) to select all contacts. Now press your delete key to delete them. Your Mac Address Book (Contacts) should now be empty. Now open the My Contacts Backup email on your Mac and double-click the attachment to import the contacts from your iPhone to your Mac Address Book (Contacts).

My Palm pda allowed me to backup calendar and contact information onto my computer. Although I understand that my calendar is backed-up through Google Calendar, I don't know how to backup all the contact info on my phone.

Hello and welcome to the forums;
Google also can back up your contact information the same way it backs up your calendar. In the Contacts app under Preferences and Accounts, set Google as your Default Account, and every future contact you enter will be backed up to google, and you can see all of those contact records on your device as well as in Gmail.
As for information that is currently in your phone, if you did not have google as the default account, those contacts are stored to the Palm Profile. If you want to copy that information to google, for each contact you can tap Send Contact > Send via Email and that will create a .VCF file for that contact that can then be imported into google. This is currently an individual process, and would need to be repeated for each contact to be copied.

Web Photo Gallery - Contact info not functional?

When I build a web gallery, using the Flash Gallery (default) in the 'Template Browser', no matter what info I put in the 'Contact info' and 'Web or Mail link' boxes (under Site Info), it does not work.
Example, under 'Contact info' I put the word 'Contact'....in the 'Web or Mail Link' I put 'mailto: [email protected] (I have not put my actual email here for purposes of this forum, and yes my email address is valid and will both send and receive in Outlook).
So anyways, when I upload the new web gallery using Dreamweaver CS3, or if I just simply preview it using the 'Preview in Browser' button, well the word 'Contact' appears in the upper right corner of the web page (photo gallery - as it should since that is what I put as word in the 'Contact info' box, but yet when I click on the word 'Contact' it it does nothing. Actually when I click on the word 'Contact' the first time, there is a line that appears below (as if to identify a link). But as I say it does nothing, opens no email window, nada! Except for when I click on the word 'Contact' subsequently, there is no more line underneath as if the link had become inactive???
I tried using another email address of mine, which is also shorter, but it does not work either....I also tried putting my main homepage address into the ''Web or Mail link' box and still nothing happens...it's as if the link is not functional...?
Has anybody else experienced this? Am I doing something wrong? Is it maybe just a Flash Gallery bug? (Because I have not tried using other type galleries i.e Blue Sky)

I have the exact same problem, step by step in Lightroom 2.4. I'm using Vista Ultimate SP2 and Internet Explorer 8.

Macbook Pro uses wrong contact info, how do I change it?

I am brand new to the Mac world and just imported all of my contacts, however it has "me" listed as my sister in law and her information comes up in forms and emails. I did read another very similar question and the answer was to just edit her info to be mine. When I do that it then changes her contact info and deletes her from my contact list in all my devices including my phone. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Launch Address Book / Contacts.
Create a new card with the correct information
or
Select/ Highlight the vCard you want to be referred to.
Click "Card" in the menu bar and select "Make This My Card".

Once your invitees have accepted, you can then send a group email to the participants via the calendar application (or individually view a participants contact information). Apple Specialists will not provide help with homework. There's plenty of info about Apple on the internet and in books and articles. If you have a specific technical question, searching this forum might yield an answer.

How do I clean up contact info

New to Mac. How do you clean up contact info that doesn't show up in contacts? When I start an email and type a few letters I get choices that do not exhist in my address book. An example is If I type an email to my spouse after I type a couple of letters in the first name I get choices that are years old and don't exhist any longer. I go to contacts and can't find these.
How do I find these so I can clean them out?
