Email folders in iCloud

I am about to make the transition from MobileMe to iCloud. In my MobileMe email I have set up folders to file important emails. Will these be saved in my new iCloud email or will I lose them?

A. Clark, the reason Mail still shows your mail under the MobileMe title is because the settings in Mail haven't changed. The transition between MobileMe and iCloud happens on Apple's servers.
If you want Mail.app to list your iCloud mail account under the title iCloud instead of the old MobileMe just go to the Preference settings in Mail and change the Description field under Accounts from MobileMe to iCloud.

  • My email folders on iCloud mail are missing

I have a new IPad Mini. All of my email folders are now missing after restoring from ICloud backup.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Force-close the Mail app (double-tap the home button, swipe up on the Mail app to close it, tap the home button again), then reset it (hold the sleep/wake and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release.  Check Mail.
If the folder still aren't there, but they appear in Mail on iCoud.com, sign out of your account: Go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out, choose Delete from My iPad and provide your password when prompted (your data will still be in iCloud), then sign back in and check your Mail.

  • Transfer email folders to iCloud hung up now what?

I was moving folders on  my laptop from my aol email to icloud folders. I moved a folder with sub folders and all went well. I tried another move like that - main folder with 2 sub folders. The sub folders are in place but the 40 emails that were in the main folder have not shown up. The main folder shows as light grey not the dark grey when all is order.
It has been hours I have been waiting. During that time I left it alone to hopefully catch up and then shut the internet off, then shut the whole laptop down. I have tried to move emails individually - ???
Additionally, in the beginning while it looked like all was going well I attempted to move 3 folders with at total of 32 emails in them at the same time. These have not come through which leads me to think that problem one has caused it to stop any transferring.
Help is needed as I am making this move due my aol account spewing spam. I changed that password twice and email to aol spam help. It still continues to get sent. I would love to delete the contacts but I think they are synced with my laptop. All my emails for years are saved on the aol server. Dumb move not to save to Mac but that is where I am at.
Any help for either of the problems is appreciated

the only thing i can come up with is to choose (if possible) a custom installation and explicitely take off iWeb from the installation, but i do not know if that's possible.
otherwise it looks as if you must go to the next apple store and /borrow/ a working dvd.

  • ICloud email folders, emails have disappeared

    Hello
I have a GMail email account and a me.com email account. I decided to create email archive folders under my me.com account (ie: emails from friends, work etc) so I can archive some emails and clear out my inbox. I then started dragging and dropping emails from both my gmail and me.com accounts into these email folders in iCloud. There was a lot of emails (circa 7000 odd). Anyway after I had completed this excercise my inbox was clear, however when I went into the email folders in Icloud most of the emails were not there. It seems to have removed the most important emails too so I am now in a bit of a panic.
Previous to doing this I had completed the following to remove the annoying all mail folder on mac mail:
"Went into the GMAIL account via my browser and gone into settings, labels, then uncheck  "show in IMAP" for the all mail folder."
Has anyone else had this problem and if so any ideas what I can do?
    Thanks
    Neil

A friend has done this before, with MobileMe as well as iCloud and hasnt had a problem.
I have checked both carefully (I did this before I posted the query) I have logged into GMAIl via my browser and checked there, I have checked Gmail on my iphone mail app and I have checked gmail on the mail app on my macbook air, Additionally I have done the same with icloud. They are not there.
I thought I was archiving (ie creating folders within iCloud tpo store emails, thereby clearing up my inbox). If there is another way to archive, I would suggest that providing information on how to do this would be more helpful than your response.
It's far safer (and faster) to archive to a local folder rather than one connected via the internet, and if your mail is truly missing from the servers (.me and gmail websites) as well as your devices I have to assume that it is gone, sorry.
As to how to archive locally:
In mail: Right Click on any mailbox you wish to archive and select: Export Mailbox.

  • How can i search ALL email folders at once

can I search all my email folders in icloud at the same time instead of one by one
    s

A mass selection or multi-conversation select would be a very nice feature to have.  I, like others, receive automated text notifications from motion sensors, emails, etc.  Each message comes from a unique number so it's not as simple as deleting a single conversation.  PLEASE, Apple, consider what I would think would be an easy addition to the functionality of the iOS.

  • Delete created then deleted icloud email folders from thunderbird emial program

I have different folders and subfolders in my iCloud email account over a long period of time. I can go into years of history of why but I don’t think that is neither important nor relevant. Suffice to say I installed my iCloud acct on thunderbird email and the folders and subfolders always automatically installed below main inbox. As I changed my folders and subfolders due to way too many and tried to reduce all these folders it worked fine in my apple iCloud emails accounts. In tbird, not so much. The folders I deleted after moving the emails that were there to different new folders tbird iCloud autoed the new folders and left the old that will not delete, change, move nor rename. I get the message that the folder is NONEXISTENT from tbird from iCloud each time I try. I just don’t seem to be able to find a solution to resolve this problem and maybe there is not one. If I have to delete the iCloud acct from tbird, so be it. I guess I can move any and all emails to some other non iCloud acct, delete iCloud, reinstall iCloud and hope all previous emails are not lost in the process. Also, one last question here I have always forgotten to ask. I often leave my iCloud email address when I enroll in something. Sometimes (maybe all the time) I get 2 copies of the email sent to the iCloud acct. is there a reason for double copies I do not know about?

You need 10.7.2 to run iCloud, but there are ways to manually setup email on 10.6.8, and if you want contacts & calendars in addition to email that also can be done, but not for free.
Here is a how to for mail.
If you want to use the contacts and calendars post back.

  • Is it possible to get my email folders from my iMac mail tool up to my icloud account?

Is it possible to get my email folders from my iMac mail tool up to my icloud account?
I would like to access my mail tool folders while I am traveling overseas with my ipad.
Alternately, is it possible to get my mail tool folders onto my ipad?
imac:   Mac OS X  Version 10.7.5
    mail tool:  Version 5.3

Your iCloud cannot access other accounts. You can set up the Mail app on your iPad to access other accounts just the same as on your Mac - the only issue might be with the ISP who provides your internet connection, as some services require you to be actually connected to them to send, and possibly even to receive though that would be more unusal.
If any of your other accounts provide webmail you could use that.
Otherwise you could set up forwarding on the other accounts so that messages are sent on to your iCloud account (I should set it to leave a copy on the original server) - however you cannot send using anything other than your iCloud email address as the 'From' address using iCloud outgoing server.
As to existing messages, if the account is IMAP then the messages can be accessed from any device that signs into the account; if the account is POP then received messages live on your Mac. You can copy them up to iCloud in the Mail application on your Mac by creating a new folder or folders on iCloud and then dragging the messages to these folders - hold the option key down to retain the messages on your Mac and duplicate them to iCloud. Move messages, not folders, and don't try to move a huge amount at a time. Remember that they will take up space on your iCloud account.

If your Mac is running OS X 10.7.5 or higher, you first have to go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign in with your Apple ID to create your account, then check Mail.  This will automatically add an iCloud email account.
To transfer your AOL mail, you need to drag and drop them into the same folder in the iCloud account.  If you have any folders in your AOL mail, you would need to create folders by the same name in the iCloud account, then open each folder, select all the mail in the folder and drag and drop them on the folder by the same name in your iCloud account.  (To create a folder in the iCloud account, click the "+" at the bottom of your folder list, choose Create Mailbox, choose iCloud as the location and give it a name.)

  • I want to redirect my talk talk emails to the iCloud so they will synchronise across all my devices.

I want to redirect my talktalk emails to the icloud so they will synchronize between my devices.
At present they appear on every device and have to be deleted every time as I only use one device to save in mail folders.

To do this you will need to set up a redirect at TalkTalk - assuming that they offer this facility. You would probably have the choice of deleting the messages from their server on forwarding or retaining them - for safety you might prefer to do the latter, though of course you would need to go in from time to time to manage or delete them.
However ths snag with all this is that you cannot send using iCloud outgoing server with anything other than your @icloud.com address as the 'From' address. If you are at home then you could set Mail to use TalkTalk's outgoing server with the iCloud account, but if you are mobile or on another computer and using the iCloud website you won't be able to.

  • I created folders in iCloud for mail to be filed, but i can't see those on my Mac in mail.  WHat gives?

Did you try creating a new mailbox on your mac's mail application and choosing iCloud as its location in the New Mailbox window, you can create a new mailbox using the '+' icon in the bottom LH corner of the mail window.

Into one of the domain accounts, or a specific mailbox in a domain account, that's your choice but:
Remember that you are moving mail over the internet, and you are uploading (slower). If the quantities are large you must use caution.
    1. Copy, don't move, in the event of a failure the original will still exist, delete it later.
    2. Limit copies to <500 emails
    3. Single copy operations are more reliable than multiple.
    Take your time.
Thanks, but impractical. Many of the folders have more than 500 emails. Total is about 2 GB (which I have free on iCloud btw)
I tried creating a folder "Archive" in my iCloud, then tried dragging one iMac folder into the new "iCloud > Archive" folder on my iMac. I got the error message:
Some items could not be created:
The IMAP command “CREATE” failed with server error: Invalid mailbox name.

    Hi JavaBrat,
I'm assuming that you only use Yahoo mail on the web and not through a mail client, such as Outlook or Thunderbird?
Also, make sure all of your Yahoo emails are going directly to the Yahoo inbox and not to sub folders or junk folders. Only the inbox will be delivered to your BlackBerry.
If the above doesn't help, feel free to send me your PIN via Private Message so that I can see if there are any issues on our side with your account integration.
    Thanks!
