Email Forwarding with GMail

Hi folks,
I have my own email address, lets say called "[email protected]" and use email forwarding via a Gmail account, called "[email protected]", but when my email is returned, it says from "Me" <[email protected]>, which is annoying, is there anyway to get it to say "Me" <[email protected]> instead of the gmail address??
I have moved away from Entourage and am now using Apples Mail application.
Many thanks in advance.
Ian

you can try. but I haven't found a way to fool gmail myself.

  • Iphoto will not email photos with gmail account "The email server didn't recognize your username/password combination."

    Hello!
I'm running OSX (v 10.10) and I am having issues sending photos out of iphoto.  I have a gmail account and I have confirmed my username and password by logging in to gmail online.  An help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Had the same error with gmail and was able to fix it.
For me it was a problem with a setting in Gmail. It seems that iPhoto isn't using SSL even though it has the check box.
    Solution for me:
    Go here https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps
Read the details carefully, what you're about to do is NOT recommended by google
If you still want to get iPhoto to work click on 'Enable' which will decrease the security settings on your gmail account
    Presto magic! It works.
Personally I think this is a bug, I'm not sure if apple was sending security and stopped or if google got more secure by default but it seems like something apple should be fixing in iPhoto. I was able to send and receive from Mail without any problems before changing the setting, they clearly have the code to do things properly... Apple please port that code to iPhoto!

  • Email sharing with gmail

When sharing a document with a collaborator, I place the pointer over their name at the bottom of the page, the tab pops up, and gives me the option of clicking on their email address to send them an email.  This is especially useful if I want to let someone know a document has been updated during a long, back and forth, stretch of updates.
Using chrome, there is a wonderful extension that allows for a clickable email address to open gmail by default, instead of opening a traditional mail program, i.e. outlook, thunderbird, etc.  This doesn't work in Buzzword.
I realize that this is just an extension in chrome, but there are many gmail users out there whom I imagine would like to use this feature.  It seems to work in every other website I have tried.  Perhaps it is a flash limitation.
Or, is there a way to hit a button that sends a "this document has been updated email" to all of the collaborators on a particular document.
    Or, am I missing something.
    Cheers!

Thank you for your post. I'm sorry for the delay in responding.
I'll follow up with the Buzzword team re: using the chrome email extention. It could very well be incompatible with Flash.
In regards to the option to update all collaborators at once, there is an option using the Share button on the lower left of the screen when the document in question is open:
    Hope this helps,
    Michelle

  • Outgoing email problem with Gmail via ATT

I'm posting this on behalf of my mom, who's at her wit's end with her Mail program.
She has AT&T DSL service, and uses Gmail for her mail. Also, she's running 10.5 on a Macbook. We've tried fiddling with things every since she got the system in the spring, but she's consistently had trouble connecting to the Gmail server, especially regarding outgoing email. Most of the time it takes forever for a message to send, if it ever sends at all.
I use Comcast and Gmail and have never had any problems, which leads me to believe that this may have something to do with ATT(/Bellsouth). Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

I have same problem with Apple Mail at ATT as ISP. I used the program ATTYahoo!EmailSetup from their website. Now I can rarely send any email, from my work email or from my MobileMe email. I seems like that program messed up the entire Apple Mail client so it can no longer send mail. Emails I try to send just sit the in Outbox. Does anyone have a solution?

  • Cannot Email Photos with Gmail

I read some discussions troubleshooting gmail and iPhoto.  Bottom line is I cannot email from iPhoto using gmail.  I continue to get an error message saying my password and userID are not recognized.  I have checked and rechecked.  I have added the gmail account, deleted and re-added.  Nothing works.  I am so frustrated with my iMAC.  Seems like everything outside the Apple bubble never works.  I need a reason to hang on to my iMAC and not go back to windows.  You also cannot email Pages docs using Gmail.  Just one thing after another....ugh  Come on Apple...why so difficult.  I bought you because it was supposed to be easy!!!

Bottom line is I cannot email from iPhoto using gmail.
    and
I use gmail to mail through iPhoto so there isn't a compatibility issue.
    Huh?

  • Trying to use email app with gmail wrong password when its correct

this happened to me and it took me forever to figure out how to get my gmail to sync into my email app
on your phone all you do is goto your app and enter in your email and password for gmail or whatever.
then when it tries to save and all of that and the picture comes up saying incorrect then you click settings.
    CLICK HOME BUTTON. GOTO SAFARI
    type
    http://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha
    click continue
    account access enabled:
click create and application-specific password in blue
click visit your GOOGLE ACCOUNT SETTINGS PAGE
then password and security......type your password
    click manage application-specific passwords
type in the box like gmail iphone
LETTERS POPP UP IN YELLOW copy and paste the four set of four
go back to your email where we clicked settings before now change your original REAL password and past that four set of four into it. that was the only way i could get my email to sync

    Your AirPort Extreme supports WPA.
WEP is outdated and considered fairly useless, so use WPA.
Be sure you are using AirPort Utility  5.6. If you are not running Lion then use AirPort Utility 5.5.3.

  • Schedule with Exchange & Email with GMail?

    Oh wise people,
I am considering getting an iPhone. I want to keep my Schedule synced with Exchange (for work) and my email synced with GMail (for personal).
Is this possible? Is the Exchange sync an all or nothing sort of thing?
    Thanks in advance,

    Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Tap on the Exchange profile you have (or will) set up, then toggle off the service you don't want to sync up. (There is a button for each of: Mail, Contacts, Calendars)

  • Email aliasing with Email filter turned on

Has anyone managed to get this to work? I own a couple of domains and run my email through one of them.  I did the following:
    1) Restricted ePrint access to my family's home and work emails.
    2) Set up an email forward with GoDaddy (my ISP) to forward all emails sent to "[email protected]" over to "[email protected]"
When I send an email to "[email protected]", I get the error:
"The email was sent to multiple printers or recipients. HP's ePrint service only processes emails sent to a single recipient to protect users from unintended printing."
If anyone from HP is reading this, I think you've got it backwards.  If a trusted email is sending an email to the printer, then the number of recipients shouldn't matter.  I'd be more concerned with an email sent to multiple addresses if senders aren't filtered. The former scenario would only be a problem if the user's PC caught a virus and it was spamming their contact list.  The latter would be a risk just by a bot guessing the email address.
Any suggestions on how to get the forward to work from the server level?

I haven't been able to get forwarding to work either. HP server rejects any forwarded email. I don't even have any filters set up to restrict anybody. I actually set up a dedicated Gmail account just for ePrint and set it to forward the emails received to printer. No go.

  • ICloud Calendar email invitations with my personal email domain

    Hi,
I want to send the invitations of the calendar of iCloud with my work email, with the domain of my company @espero.it (and not with mail @me.com, @mac.com or @gmail.com).
I try to set my apple account just with this email address, but the invitations now send with the domain @mac.com and not with the email of my account... If I set the email address with @gmail.com it works...
why? can't I send with my domain??

now it works: the invitations of calendar are send with my personal domain.
But there's another big problem: the invitations that I send to another user that have an email with my same domain ([email protected] to [email protected]) don't arrive, but are blocked by the mailserver, for security...
If in iCloud Calendar I could add the authenticatin-data of my email account, iCloud can send the invitations with authentication, and so my mail-server doesn't block!!

  • Can I send email using my own domain address with iCloud the way I can with gmail?

Let's say I own mydomain.com and have a [email protected] email account.  I have set that up to forward to gmail, and that would be easy to switch to iCloud.  Here's the tricky part: gmail allows me to send email as [email protected]  I've been doing this for years and it works, but I'd like to switch from gmail to iCloud.  Can I set up this same behavior with an iCloud @me.com address (which I already have but haven't been using yet)?  I know I can obviously switch the forwarding of incoming mail to my @me.com address...  but can I send [email protected] email through iCloud the way I can with gmail?  All of my devices are Apple: a Mac Mini using Apple's Mail app, and an iPhone and an iPad both using the Apple email app, so I'd rather switch everything over from gmail to iCloud.
P.S.  Awe, c'mon Apple.  Don't turn those fake addresses into links.  I just used them for the sake of giving an example.

Ah, I should have made that clear.  My domain didn't come from google.  It was purchased at and is hosted at dreamhost, but I haven't used their email servers in years - I just route everything through gmail.  I actually have a bunch of domains (with websites).
Gmail has an option that lets someone with custom domains send (and receive) email through gmail using the custom domain once Google confirms proper ownership of the domain (to prevent spammers and such).  Gmail has a setting for "send email as" which allows gmail to be sent using a custom domain as the sender.  I'm pretty sure Apple's old mobileme had this feature too, but I didn't use it.

  • Mail forwarded to gmail from work email shows up on web but not in blackberry

I have set up my gmail account in blackberry, and receive emails sent to me at gmail fine. But I have my emails from my work outlook set up to automatically forward to gmail. This works fine on the web on my computer, but these emails do not come to the blackberry.
I tried setting up the gmail mobile app and they do appear there, just like on the web - but I don't like that I have to refresh each time I want to view emails in that app. Why are they not appearing in the blackberry messages? I do not have them going into a particular folder in gmail, they go to my inbox with the rest of my mail.

Do you have a filter set up for your work email so you don't recieve double emails when you reply to people?  That would stop the forwarding of your gmail stuff from your work email.  Just a guess.

  • I-pad stopped receiving email from comcast forwarding to gmail

We have email through Comcast.  I had set this up to forward to Gmail, which would flow through to the I-pad.  I now have the Comcast email and the Gmail accounts set up on the I-pad.  Email was coming through fine and now it has stopped. Any ideas?  Thanks. Sallyfromduluth

One of my clients had this yesterday (6-Dec-2011) with a series of emails sent through Comcast to end users at @me.com
The errors were identical to the above, with the exception of the MTA.  It varied so its not just one server at Comcast giving fits to Apple.  Since the error message "Too many recipient errors" is coming from the server at apple, there appears to be an apple problem.

  • Mail sync with gmail problems - deleted emails keep re appearing

    Learned all,
Upgraded to Mavericks and my main (work) email client is gmail forward to my mac. I simply can't delete emails from my inbox, they re appear after every sync. If I delete them on my phone they re appear after a sync. They remain in the google mail/gmail inbox, as accessed in a browser, marked deleted but still sitting in my inbox. I haven't noticed this before but then I haven't really looked.
This is bizarre, and fundamental. I have read the TidBITS article and cringe at the thought of having all my emails load back up to my mac. Also cringe at all the other accounts of issues that this resolution doesn't fix. My temporary work around - disable my gmail work email account on my mac, forward all emails from gmail to my icloud mail account/client. The biggest problem, and a show stopper, is that I can't send emails via icloud from my work email address. I assume that you can't add an alias with a different domain name? Anyway I had 3 and have to wait 7 days after deleting one before I can add another. 7 days??
Any wisdom or learnings from out there? Any advise appreciated, thanks.

    Thank you, Ernie.
These are all IMAP.  I see trash on the server and on MAIL.  deletine Trash used to work from MAIL, but in last 4 months, if I want something to take effect, I work from the web mail of go daddy and MAIL gets the message.
So you suggest I go to Gmail and set up accounts ( I assume they  will walk me through )  (starting from my current gmail acct that my android uses-- or start from scratch?)  to receive email addressed to my current email addresses?  Then by not transfering out of goDaddy, I won't lose lots of email and mail files, folders in the transition?
There is a discussion on this topic of GoDaddy delays, from 2010 and 2011. So I may not be alone with the problem now.
    Best,
    Gayle
