Email freezes up when I click on links

I have multiple email accounts hooked up to my Iphone 5 (gmail, microsoft outlook work account, etc.) and no matter which account I am looking at emails in, when I click on a link the whole email viewer freezes up and I have to force shut the program down.  I have turned the phone on and off and wasn't sure what else I could do to fix it. The phone is only a couple of months old and I bought it directly from the Verizon store.

I know how important email is to staying connected WhatistheStory. I use email for work, school, and volunteering and not staying updated can cause me to fall behind. I'm sorry you have to shut down when checking email, especially with a new phone. I understand you have multiple email accounts but one may have an incompatibility issue with your device, especially if you downloaded the app from the play store. The app may also need to be updated. I recommend removing each email, one at a time and readding them to find out which may be causing the issue or which may need to be updated. You may also have many emails being synced at the same time which may cause phone to freeze. Try removing the sync from one or two of the email accounts and manually syncing them. This may work and clear cache and browser history periodically. Let us know if this helps and keep us posted.

I received a link to fill out a document on this site through email. However, when I click the link, it just directs me to my FormsCentral homepage and there are no documents for me to fill out. How do I find this document or stop myself from just being redirected to my homepage?

Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
Good Luck - Cheers,
M.

• I get a general failure when I click on links in my email. This happens more frequently now that I've downloaded the latest version of Firefox. Very annoying. Help!!!

I get a general failure when I click on links in my email. "General Failure" is followed by a link and I have to click ok to get rid of it. This happens every time I click on a link in my email. I've turned my computer on and off several times, but it persists. It's very annoying and I'm considering returning to Internet Explorer because of it.

This is a known bug, and has been for years. It occurs when Firefox is your default browser and some glitch (or program) changes that default. Thankfully, there's a fairly easy fix, though it does involve monkeying around in the Registry.
(Note: These instructions apply to Windows Vista and 7 only.)
1. Click Start, type regedit, and then press Enter.
2. Navigate to the following entry: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxURL\shell\open\ddeexec
3. In the center pane, double-click the Default entry, then remove whatever value is there (it'll probably be a weird string of numbers and commas).
4. Click OK, then exit Regedit.
5. If Outlook and/or Firefox are open, close them, then restart them.

Barney,
I have four groups.
I just typed the name of one of those groups in the To field on the iPhone's email, and received:
Invalid Address
"<group name>" does not appear to be a valid email address.  Do you want to send it anyway?
I clicked continue and it remains in my outbox.
Help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael

hi what can i do if i receive an email with link but when I click the link my mail wont move anymore?

Close the Mail app in the Task Bar and re-launch.
Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar. Hold Mail app down for a second or two; tap the minus sign to close app.
If it still doesn't work, try a reset.
Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple logo.

Hello,
Have you tried Firefox's zoom feature? This will help increase the size of web pages.
* To make things bigger, press Ctrl and &#43 at the same time.
* To make things smaller, press Ctrl and - at the same time.
* To reset the size back to normal, press Ctrl and 0 at the same time.
You can also use the NoSquint. add-on to change the default zoom level for all websites at once. After setting your global zoom level, you can still fine-tune the zoom on individual sites.
Using NoSquint:
#After installing NoSquint, make sure you have the Add-on Bar displayed:
#*Right-click the new tab button ("+") or a blank area of the tab bar to the right of it and choose Add-on Bar from the shortcut menu.
#Click the % on the Add-on Bar to call up site preferences, then click the Global Settings button, then the Zooming tab.
#*You can experiment with sizes larger than 125%, but it's not recommended that you go higher than 150% unless you have a large high-resolution monitor.
If there are particular sites that still present a problem, feel free to post their URLs.
Please let us know if this helped you!
Thank you.

My iMac locks up constantly in email. I click on one or two emails. Then when I click on another email, I get the spinning wheel and have to relaunch. Why does it get confused and lock up? Seems like it is stuck.

10.6.8 here, MacBook Pro. Comcast. Mail  freeze ups. Occasional warnings to use "Log Out" under the Apple icon.
Disk Repair run several times. Shows lots of Java  "remote" issues.
I run Disk Repair several times, shows a lot of Java, "remote" issues.
Restart don't know if it helps, I do it all the time. What's with quitting Mail but it doesn't quit, and why a separate maneuver to "Log Out".

• When I click a link in a website, it loads in another tab, however i get 100's of new tabs that load with "untitled" and when i close firefox, it just opens by itself again and again

I was on my son's school website and I was looking to click the link to his teachers personal web-page. When I did, many, many "untitled" new tabs kept opening in the same screen. In fact it did not stop until I restarted my computer.
When I tried to close mozilla firefox page, it would then open up a new screen again doing the many, many "untitled" tabs. Every time I clicked the red X at the top of the screen, it would load a new page doing this.
It also did this on one other web page.
I am sure that there is just some info that needs to be entered for what to do when you click a link, however I have no clue how to change it.

For the list of teachers there are email addresses in the right hand column, did you click on an email address?
If you did that could explain the multiple tabs being opened. What may have happened is you have the mailto protocol set to open Firefox which results in 100s of tabs opening when you click on an email address. For details on fixing that see Firefox keeps opening many tabs or windows, in particular the section on "Change the action for a content type". My guess is you will find mailto is set to "Use Firefox".

• When I click send link my yahoo programme will not let me acess yahoomail

when I click send link my btinternet mail facility no longer works and just keeps asking for my password. when I give it it has no email pop up to send link and this process is just endless. I have had to use the computer default now but I would like to use my own email. I have checked yahoo is the default mail in firefox. BT cannot solve this problem and say it is due to firefox

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See Troubleshooting extensions and themes and Troubleshooting plugins

• I have Windows 7 and just recently experienced a problem with itunes freezing up when I clicked on the "apps" tab.  Everything else seems to work okay in itunes.  I have uninstalled it and reloaded it 4 or 5 times, but still freezes up.

I have Windows 7 and just recently experienced a problem with itunes freezing up when I clicked on the "apps" tab which shows the apps that are loaded on my phone.  Everything else in the itunes software seems to be working okay.  The problem is in the part where you sync the newly purchased apps.  The apps will all be blank that are downloaded and that part of the software crashes itunes or freezes up.  I can get out of itunes okay after the freeze up, but it just stops me from syncing anything that I have newly added.  If anyone has had this problem before or knows someone that has, please let me know how I can fix it.  I have uninstalled and reloaded itunes 4 or 5 times, but the problem is still there.  I might add that I have been using itunes and purchasing apps for 2 to 3 years without any problems.  HELP.

You would get better response from the iTunes community forum.
Have a nice day!

• Why am I getting an "unsupported url" error when I click the link to find my apple id?

When I click the link to change my password or to find my apple id, I get a blank page with only "unsupported url error".  I've tried on multiple devices and while I can log on with one apple ID, I can not get any of the links to change id or password or to find an  additonal password to work.  Any suggestions?

• Just learning my track pad; viewed tutorial; when I click a link, message comes up,"open in new window," etc. How to stop messages?

I'm just learning how to use my Track Pad on my MacBook Pro, running iOS 10.9.4. I viewed the tutorial, which helped a lot , but still, when I click a link at odd times (I haven't figured out what triggers it yet) a small window with options such as, 'open in new window' opens up. It doesn't happen all the time. I just want the link to  click through without having to  deal with the message. When I click it several times, I may finally get it so the link just opens. How can I avoid those messages?
