Email from 1/1/1970, Email from 1/1/1970

I am getting emails with no subject or content dated from 1/1/1970. They cannot be deleted in the normal fashion. How do I delete the and how do I stop them?

Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app completely : from the home screen (i.e.not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • IOS Mail syncing issues with iCloud - emails from 1970!!!!!

    Hi
I woke up this morning to find some very weird behaviour on my iOS devices (iPhone 5 32GB, iPad 2 32GB).
Both mail apps are synced to my mail accout with icloud yet both only seem willing to sync with all email from today and yesterday, and then only show emails from late November 2012. My iPad also seems to believe that I was sent some emails from 01/01/1970!!!!
As far as I am aware all was fine yesterday, and all seems to be fine with mail on my Mac.
    Any advice much appreciated,
I deleted the account from my phone and then re-added it but the problem was still there.
    Many thanks
    Andy

I have previously successfully fixed similar problem by resetting all settings. Settings - general - reset - reset all settings. Do not click the line that says erase content. You will lose your screen wallpaper, your wifi password and other minor stuff that is not worth mentioning, but nothing important.

  • Iphone5- emails from 1970

    Hi there
The GF recently upgraded to the iphone5. I set up 3 email accounts. All seemed fine. The phone went off and picked up the last 50 emails from each account.
The next day, after deleting some emails from the phone, it told her that she had 13,000 (ish) unread emails waiting to be downloaded.
Last night when I looked at her phone, the first email in that mail box iwas titled "no subject" and has a date of 1970. It cannot be opened and cannot be manually deleted.
This morning however the errant email has disappeared of its own accord...
I suspect that part of the problem is that the phone auto-selected IMAP when i entered the user email details. It is a Virgin Media/Blueyonder account that is powered by Google. There probably are 13000 emails on the account but this issue did not occur with her iphone4, nor is it a problem with the other handsets in the house (WP7.5, Symbian and Andriod).
I do recall similar issues in outlook 2003 years ago when Virgin made the shift to google (ie. outlook wanted to download the whole box but there were no emails from 1970). That was resolved by prefixing recent: to the user name but that work around only seemed to work for the pop protocol.
Is this another iOS bug? and if so should I switch her over to pop?
    Thanks

  • When I forward an email, it includes at the top of the new forwarded message, all the headers from the original message. How do I make that disappear?

I'm using a Mac Air with Thunderbird 34.0.
When I forward an email, for some reason it now includes all of the headers at the top of the new forwarded message that I'm creating ... making quite a mess.
It looks like this below. How do I make it go away?

  • I received a spam message from my iCloud email to my hotmail account - what gives?

So I have my Hotmail email and iCloud (@me.com) account on my iPhone. Suddenly today, I received an email from my @me.com account - to my Hotmail account - this is very odd as I rarely-to-never use my iCloud email account. So I have a feeling either A. it was a genuine security breach or B. it's some weird hoax.
Yes, I know many people spam with names that look similar etc - but I've checked the message headers - and they appear like a legitimate message. Also, I replied to the message - and received it in my @me.com account. I'm not some n00b who calls the help desk - but was wondering if anyone else had this issue today...
I've included the message header below - *note that I've replaced my real email address with 'main_user'

  • WiFi problems and email coming from the past...

    Hi all,
Looks like I'm having a lot of problems with my 2006 MacBook Pro: after overheating when trying to install a different OS on a VM thanks to VirtualBox (see here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2221808&tstart=0 ) or simply watching streaming video (see here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2222219&tstart=0 ), I've now noticed strange email in my Inbox on Thunderbird. Email dating from the 1st of January, 1970...
Is my EFI battery slowly dying on me? I haven't changed it since I bought my MBP in the summer of 2006. Where is it located? I've added RAM recently, but I haven't got any further, dismantling-wise. Wish I didn't have to...
Aside from that, and for the second day in a row, I've noted that my WiFi chip has trouble staying connected to my Internet box (I'm in France, and we're big on "boxes" for broadband, telephone and TV. We've even invented a name for it: triple-play. So-o French...). The network itself isn't at fault, since my other computers don't have problems at all connecting. Since I've had multiple problems with this machine (a logic board swap last year and a change of SuperDrive last summer, plus four different batteries in three years) and it's out of warranty, I don't know what to do. Should I gut it open? And if I do, what am I supposed to look out for...?

Email dating from the 1st of January, 1970.
Check the Long Headers or Ra Source to see if the Dates are different, if so it's likely the PRAM Battery.
    Direct download link to Manual...
    http://www.powerbookmedic.com/Manuals/15-inch-macbook-pro-manual.pdf
The new bottom pan will not come with the PRAM battery so you need to make sure that is removed and transferred over to the new bottom. The PRAM is located towards the front right of the unit around where the superdrive was located. It is usually going to be a round blue object with a cable coming out of it. It is held on by a slight adhesive.

I find it amazing that even in this day and age people still fall for scam mails like this.
We're in the worst economic crisis probably since the 1970s, and we are supposed to believe that a huge company that has been in the news several times in the last couple of years for cutting hundreds of jobs would stick a pin in a list of random e-mail addresses to pick a winner of hundreds of thousands of pounds?
If Nokia was offering any kind of prizes, you'd have to show some interest in the company by either signing up to its online services or buying one of its products, and even then prizes are going to be in proportion to the nature of the commitment made by the customers.
Even the terrors like Reader's Digest and Test Achats expect you to subscribe to their magazines before you win a lot (they always say you don't need to join up, but...)
Psycho is also probably right about the number diverting elsewhere in the world - has anybody anywhere ever received one of these e-mails that isn't full of spelling and grammar mistakes?

  • Cannot send email from iPad2 with Shaw

    Hi there,
I have issues that I cannot seem to resolve:
I can receive from my shaw account but it sends all outgoing to the Outbox - I've double, triple cheked all incoming and outgoing servers - I even sat with my iPad next to my iMac to make sure everything matched.
it says  The sender address "myemailadrees.com" was rejected by the server. even though I recive ok.
    Help please??

I too have spend countless hours trying to get my iPad 2 to work with my Shaw email.  I FINALLY got it to work this morning after about 3 months of trying different "solutions".  Here is how I set my POP email account:
    Incoming mail server:
Host name:  shawmail.ed.shawcable.net (I live in Edmonton)
User name: my shaw email address without the @shaw.ca
    Password: my Shaw email password
    Outgoing mail server:
Host name:  shawmail.ed.shawcable.net (I live in Edmonton)
    User name: leave blank
    Password: leave blank
    Use SSL: off
    Server port: 25
This has worked so far for me, so hopefully it will work for others as well.  It seems like there is an lot of people on these forums going through the same frustrations.  I was able to set both mine and my wife's email accounts on my iPad.

  • Cannot send email from my Touch (connection to smtp server fails)

    Hello,
I have a new iPod Touch with 1.1.4 and the January apps. I am having a problem setting the Mail application.
I am trying to connect to the IMAP/SMTP servers at my university. I am using the exact same settings and passwords I use on my laptop, which works fine. I can receive email fine on my Touch, but every time I try to send one it fails tellings me "the connection to the outgoing server smtp.myuniversity.edu failed".
If I on purpose write a wrong password for the outgoing mail, the error message I get is different ("check the account settings for the outgoing server smtp.myuniversity.edu").
The university IT people confirmed my settings, and told me that there is nothing blocking any handheld device from using the server.
Does anyone know why this would happen?
    Thanks,
    Marcelo

Thank you very much for your responses
    1) the link to mail setup is (sorry, it's quite long)
    http://www.knowledgepak.com/kpaksonline/kpol.asp?PiAlias=kpolpi17&k2dockey=04096 3251575739@kpol17&ViewLink=true&SkipHeader=false&printformat=true
    2) I am indeed using SSL, as instructed by IT
    3) I do use port 587 instead of 25 (25 does not work either)
    Any ideas? Thanks again.
    MC

  • Cannot send email from yahoo account on iPhone 5

I just got an iPhone5 and I couldn't set up my Yahoo email as "yahoo"--it would not allow me to complete the process despot multiple attempts. I had to set it up as an "other" account. I can receive and read emails on my phone, but when I reply those messages will not send. They go to the outbox and an error message pops up that says" the email account has been rejected by the server" Does anyone have advice on either issue: setting up yahoo properly and/or sending email from phone?

    outgoing mail server
    SMTP - Yahoo! SMTP Server
    primary server
    Yahoo! SMTP server - ON
    server port 465
That's what I have for my yahoo account.
