  • How do I know if the email from Apple asking for credit card information is genuine

Hi, I just received an email from Apple Worldwide telling me they've suspended my account momentarily until they can certify my details which includes wanting credit card info etc.  how do I know it's genuine?

    Hello pegglekatie,
This e-mail is not from Apple.
The iTunes Store will never ask you to provide personal information or sensitive account information (such as passwords or credit card numbers) via email.

  • I just got an email from Apple, asking me to complete a survey.  If I don't then I'll loose my Apple ID.  I think this is spam/virus/hacker.  Anybody have any info on this?

There have been a number of phishing scam emails going around for at least half a year...do not respond, click links, or do anything with that email.  Apple does not operate that way.

  • Are people getting lots of fake iTunes emails asking for personal information?

Since I bought my Mac Air I have started receiving bogus "itunes" emails asking for personal info and I would like to report it. They say my payment info needs updating so they want credit card, SS# and birthdate.    Anyone know how/where to report these to Apple?

Yes, unfortunately it is pretty common.

  • Has anyone ever had an email from Apple asking them to update their details for their Apple account on IPad? Kinda worried as it asks for my bank details and bank account number and security code on the back of the card. Thanks :)

Has anyone ever had an email from Apple on IPad asking them to update their account details? The email seems genuine enough as it asks you to sign in with your Apple ID and password and takes you through to the Apple site but am a bit worried as they ask you in the section Update Your Apple account for bank and credit card details and for the security number on the back of the card. Also in the section where it asks for my mobile number it will only take 10 numbers and when ai try to put in the final (11th number) it won't let me. Sorry am new to all this and a bit confused! Any help is gratefully appreciated.....Thanks.

    That is phishing attack

  • HT3702 I was send an email from apple asking me to update my credit card information or my account will be cancelled within 48hours is this a valid email from apple or fraud ??

I was send an email via apple stating that I need to update my credit card information or my account will be cancelled in 48hours. Is this a valid email or fraud. I had the iphone for more than 2 years and did not receive a similar email

It's a phishing attempt to get your account and payment details (Apple don't send emails like that) . If you still have the email then you could forward it to Apple : [email protected]

  • I received an email from "apple" asking me if they have the right email address.

    I received a message from "Apple <[email protected]>"
Because of spam warnings I am not sure it is legitamate.
Does Apple send email requesting verification of my password, etc?  I'm not sure I should click the attached link.
Thanks in advance for any advice

Also, if you ever want to find out who the owner of a website, I recommend using the app Deep Whois. In this case, you would enter part of the email address of the person who sent you the email. You would enter whatever follows the "@" symbol. (i.e. for [email protected], enter only "apple.com").
This would show you whether or not the site from which the email is managed was owned by apple (and it would give you some info about the person who spam-texted you...which would allow you to submit this info to the FCC as a spam reporthttp://www.fcc.gov/guides/spam-unwanted-text-messages-and-email).
Also, if the email address is a gmail, yahoo, or (insert major email provider here), then you can simply contact both the FCC and the email provider letting them know that the email address is conducting a phishing operation (include screenshots of what you receive and as many other details as could be relevent). That should at least delay their operation.
    Happy justice!

  • Querying so-called email from 'Apple' asking me to "verify the email address accociated (sic) with your Apple ID."

I'm guessing this is a fraud?

Yes, it's a phishing attempt to get your id and password - you could forward the email to Apple : [email protected]

  • HT4942 I already have the full apple iWorks Suite and have it set up on iPhone and home PC with MSIE on iCloud. I clicked on an email from Apple/iCloud for an offer for iWorks. Now my iCloud has all the Apps seperate instead of the iWorks folder and show

Anyway, what was cut off due to me being so wordy on a tight character limit is, all my apps are seperate and not in my iWorks folder on iCloud in my browser.
Does this change my original, payed for, Apps to BETA instead of the Apps that I have purchased and have license rights as a user that payed full price???

Welcome to iWork for iCloud. Apple has invited some users to test iWork for iCloud, which will be released in fall. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5779
Those apps are only for iCloud. The apps you have on the iPhone are stable and are different than iWork for iCloud. iWork for iCloud allows you to modify your iWork documents from any PC or Mac that meets the requirements

  • Acrobat 9 (from CS4) asking for serial again after OS-upgrade to Yosemite. New installation not possible

Hi all, I feel quite desperate at the moment.
My old CS4 ran perfectly. Now I upgraded my system to Mac OS Yosemite and the trouble began.
First, Acrobat no longer ran properly and asked me to start e.g. Photoshop. What I did. Photoshop and all other CS4 applications no more worked beause of some license issues. I finally fixed this by means of Adobe's tool. I had to re-enter the CS4-Serial and Photoshop, Indesign etc. worked again. Not did Acrobat Pro 9. This application asked me to re-enter the serial. What I did. The serial was not accepted. I tried a thousand times. Then I uninstalled Acrobad Pro 9 and tried to re-install this application from the original CD. This does not work: The setup screen of my CS4 "Design Premium" stopped three times with the grey screen reading "Preparing to install". Other attempts ended up in error messages about JAVA etc. - The DVD simply does not work anymore with the new OS.
Can anyone tell me what to do? My search over Adobe's support pages never led me to a valid contact form or anything of use for this problem.
    Thank you in Advance

A point worth pointing out is that, although CS versions may have included installers for Acrobat they were not for direct use; often (who can remember CS4?) you MUST use the CS installer, which uses the Acrobat installer in a special way; CS licensing is not like Acrobat licensing and Acrobat does not take a CS number. Nevertheless, I'd still advise a restore and not upgrading your OS without being prepared to upgrade everything else. (And it's still very early, this is a very brave/risky thing even for CC licensees).

  • HT201363 my husband received an email from Apple stating we needed new credit card information.  We had just gotten a new credit card and couldn't remember if we updated it or not.  What kind of questions would you ask for that? It may have been fraud?

My husband received an email from Apple stating our account was frozen and we needed to update our credit information.  We recently got a new credit card and so went ahead and updated information.  They asked about mothers maiden name and social security information.  Now we are feeling skeptical.  Are these the kinds of questions Apple would ask?  Now all my information is out there and I can't even get a hold of a human being at support to answer any questions for me as to whether they sent this or not????? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That email was a phishing attempt to get your iTunes account and payment details - iTunes accounts aren't 'frozen', and iTunes don't need your social security info.
If your husband entered his card details then he should contact the card issuer immediately and get it cancelled and replaced.
He should also change the password on his iTunes account e.g. via the Store > View Account menu option on his computer's iTunes or via http://appleid.apple.com
If you still have the email then you could forward it to Apple : [email protected]
