Email from captivate without local client

Just like in YouTube (and similar). The user clicks email and the form appears, addressee is filled in, subject can be typed (or is automatic), message typed (or can be automatic), then click send and away it goes--without the need for a local email client. My learners click the email link and complain that MS Outlook comes up and they don't have Outlook. I know why that happens and the workaround but I don't have a way to get all the end users to configure their web browser's default email client. We work with 4500+ volunteers and the systems they use to take our courses are varied and outside our sphere of control. Also, the end users are unlikely to configure their email client if they click our email link in Captivate and get a message about Outlook not being configured (or installed).
Is there a widget that will do it?
Thank you.

Trying to use email reporting via the default methods available in Captivate is unlikely to be successful under the circumstances you describe where end user email clients and configurations are widely varied.
This forum contains many posts from users that have experienced issues with email reporting.  It's not Captivate's fault per se.  It's just due to the fact that there are too many variables involved in the way email is handled on end user's PCs.

Recieved email from Computer Help at WHICH magazine with [Request ID :##55675##] : in the subject heading is crashing my THUNDERBIRD (and other programs) when I move the email from INBOX to local folders. The only work-around found so far is to shut them down with task manager, as they wont otherwise close.
However if I move the Reply with the same subject heading from my SENT box to LOCAL FOLDERS I dont get the problem.

Thunderbird is up to date and it is on a 64kb intel i7 quad processor 8G ram desktop using windows 7 latest update.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:
*Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
*Restart the operating system in '''[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_mode safe mode with Networking]'''. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode Windows 8], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows 7], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-vista Windows Vista], [http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true" Windows XP], [http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564 OSX]
; If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.

  • Sending emails from Captivate 5

    Hi
I am hoping someone can help me.  I want to sent emails from Captivate 5.  The user will need to complete the module and then click on a button which says 'completed', I then would like an email to be automatically generated and sent to a contact.  I don't want the user to have to click on Send once the email has been generated I want it to be automatically sent as soon as the user clicks on the button in Captivate.  Is this possible??
    Thanks in advance
    Jodie

It is possible using this widget:  http://www.cpguru.com/2010/09/01/email-reporting-widget-as3-for-adobe-captivate-4-and-adob e-captivate-5/
    You'll also need:
your Captivate movie served up from a web server
the web server supports a scripting language such as PHP
you may also need access to someone with programming skills if you need to modify the PHP page

  • How do I delete email from iPhone without deleting them from my Mac

How do I delete email from iPhone without deleting them from my Mac?

To remove a photo from iPhoto and your Mac:
Put it in the iPhoto Trash, then enpty it. Then empty the system trash as well
If you want to remove a photo from iPhoto but keep it on your Mac:
First Export the file from iPhoto (File -> Export) to whereever you want it and then go through the steps above.
Confusion arises as the notion that you would want to remove a pic from iPhoto but keep it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It's like saying I want to remove one address from Address Book, but still keep it on my Mac. The point of iPhoto and such apps is that they are used to manage your photos. Anything that you need to do with the pics cn be done either with or via iPhoto.

  • Move email from Inbox to Local Folder using Message Filter moves header only, not contents.

I created a Message Filter to move email from Inbox to a Local Folder based on Date. The email headers were moved, but not the contents. Since I'm using IMAP, all the emails were deleted from the server.
I searched for similar problems and I followed one suggestion to "repair" one of the target Local Folders, but that made things worse. Now the header information (Subject, From, Date (now set to the date the transfer was done, not the email received date) is all blank.
The Local Folder properties indicate the email is contained in
    mailbox:///C:/Users/Ted/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/c65xcqqf.default/Mail/Local Folders/Archives.sbd/2010
I can see the messages from other Local Folders here, but the ones "moved" are empty.
    Should this location be changed?
Is there some way to recover the email contents?

  • Submit XML from script without navigating client away?

Is it possible to submit a form (XML over HTTP) without the client application navigating away (to the page which I am submitting to)?

I agree with you Brad about the seemingly under-implemented submit function. It's as though someone has thought, "Well, because it's HTTP we must follow the request-response protocol and display the response from the server." But not really followed through on the consequences of this. It would have been nice to have a flag which controlled if the response can be ignored.
Using Form Server we have returned flat "receipt" PDF's, which can be displayed in both Reader, Acrobat and in a browser with a PDF plug-in. This is a pretty simple solution, but for a customised receipt it does require Form server.
Another solution would be to use SOAP/Webservices. Data can be delivered to a system without the user navigating away from the current PDF. It's a little more to implement but works quite well - and it fits the bill of XML over HTTP.
There is a chapter on programatically using SOAP in the Acrobat Javascript Scripting Guide.

At first I thought it was because the computer in Australia wasn't a Mac - but as I say my daughter has the same model as me and she is receiving the reply's Any more thoughts?

You will require some kind of SMTP server to be able to send mail from your app (not necessarily M$ exchange.) Just look for mail servers for the platform of your choice.

logging out and logging back in to your email account in the iPhone's Settings will erase all the emails saved in the iPhone (without deleting them from your email server). That way, it will only load again the email when you open it.

  • Settings from previous without local brushes/etc

I'm using LR2.1 RC1. Previously I recall that in the develop module, applying settings from the "previous" button did not transfer certain settings. I'm finding that applying the local brush adjustments from the previous photo to be a big problem as I cannot always see the change. Is this a bug or a change in behavior?
In most cases I do not want to copy all settings. Particularly those that are applied differently based on where my subject is in the frame.
Is there a way to define what settings are transferred with the "previous" button. My workaround has been using "copy settings" -> "paste settings" in separate steps?
    Thanks.

Actually, it's pretty easy to change the start page.
If you go to Google.com in a new window, you then can set that as you home page using the techniques in this article: [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page How to set the home page | How to | Firefox Help].
(If you want the old Google page with the Firefox 3 "skin", that URL is
    http://www.google.com/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official
However, that page doesn't check your Firefox version, so it will not know you have upgraded to Firefox 4.)
If there are other reasons you want to roll back, here's how:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
    Close Firefox 4.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!

  • Removing email from iPhone without removing it from Mobile me server

I currently have an iPhone and several email accounts on different servers. All these accounts give me to option to remove mail from my iPhone without removing them from the server. With Mobile me there is no option available to do this that I've been able to to locate on my iPhone. Does anyone know how to prevent the emails pushed to my iphone not being removed from the server when I delete them from my iPhone? Thanks.

Mobile Me uses the IMAP protocol.
This allows the iPhone + Server + all other PC/Macs you have your account on to remain in sync. Delete an email, it affects all devices with account, read email, read on all devices with account. Etc. Etc.
This is normal for any IMAP based account. POP are the accounts that will not keep things up to date or the same.
By any chance are all the other accounts actually POP? or are they also using IMAP?
Typically you may find a default global settings in Settings - Mail, Contacts, Calenders - On that screen might be some deletion options.
