Email I send to myself gets filed in Junk Folder!?

This is driving me crazy...
I often send myself email, particularly when browsing the web or apps on my iPad and I find something I want to save but Evernote isnt an option and I don't want to clutter the Reading List. I use my iCloud account address. Invariably, that email arrives on the Mac and gets put into the Junk folder. Why?
I took this issue to the AppleStore and the Genius behind the bar looked up the problem, and after much discussion over the phone to persons/parts unknown, returned with a solution. He had me chant a spell, daub Apple jelly on my forehead, delete a couple of files from the Library, rinse, and repeat. (I did the deleting remotely via the iPad and Logmein so I wouldn't have to haul my 27" iMac to the store.) It worked! For a week. Then the problem reappeared. I should have written down the incantations, Apple jelly recipe, laundry instructions, and files that were deleted, but I was in awe of the Genius' magical powers and had assumed that the problem had been permanently resolved. Wrong. ARRGGHH!
But seriously, this is driving me around the bend. Does anyone have any experience with this problem and know the proper incantations to resolve it?
Thanks!

  • Email I send to myself goes to straight to Trash

Over the years I have occasionally sent emails to myself.  They have always appeared as new mail in my Inbox, just like any other email.  Apple Mail recently began moving emails I send to myself directly to Trash.
I can't be sure but I believe the problem started when I installed OS X Yosemite, not when I installed iOS 8.
There is not even momentary visibility in my Inbox.  The sent email shows up in Sent.  In Trash the email is marked as "unread."
Behavior occurs for email originating from iPhone 5s, iPad Mini RD, or Macbook Pro.  Emails appear in Sent and Trash consistently across devices.   I don't own any non-Apple products.
I've held off inquiring for awhile thinking the bug would get worked out, but it is still happening.  Any ideas?
    Thank you.

Pretty well all the mail on my Virgin webmail account does go to my desktop Apple Mail program, I've just double checked that. The occasional item goes into the Spam box on the webmail account but not emails from myself. Whatever is going on is happening within Apple Mail, and I don't particularly want to change the program I use. I don't have any other problems with it. It puts mail into Junk if the sender is not in my address book, but my email address is in my address book so why is it junking it? I suspect it's something to do with the fact that this email address is also the one I use to send emails  from Apple Mail because other emails from myself from different email accounts I use are not diverted to Junk.

  • Emails that get filed in draft folder

When I am in my in-box with an email open.  I accidentally hit the draft button at the top of the email.  I saw the email get filed in the draft folder, but I don't know where to go to retrieve that email out of drafts.

If holding the iPad in landscape orientation, then tap your account name in the top left-hand corner and then select the Drafts folder and the email that you've saved within it. If holding the iPad in portrait orientation then tap the Inbox icon in the top left and then do similar.

  • How do I stop getting so much junk mail besides marking it as junk?

I keep receiving a bunch of junk mail in the last week & haven't done anything out of the ordinary. Other than marking it as junk mail or changing my email, how do I stop getting so much junk delivered to my email?

You can't, so mark it as Junk.

  • Mail sending everything to junk folder

    Hi all,
I have an issue where Mail is sending all incoming mail to the Junk folder including good mail. Normally the good mail stays in my Inbox and the Junk mail is automatically put in the Junk Mail folder. It puts all the mail in the junk folder, but only colors the junk mail and leaves the good mail the normal color. Also, it does not put the Junk mail bag "icon" next to the Junk mail messages anymore. Anybody know what's going on here?

When you click on Mail Choose the Mail Icon and click on it and then Preferences from that Mail Icon and go through the available settings and you will find your problem, It is a setting sending everything to the Junk or Trash.
    Cheers Don

  • If I send a BCC email to my address I get ar error message stating the server does not allow relaying.

I set up my eail account so I BCC a copy of the email to my desk top.  When I send an email from my IPhone I get a message stating that the recpient was rejected because the server does not allow relaying.  I can send the same email, BCC myself from my desktop with no problem.

Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Your Account > Account Name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and enter your email account and password and see if things work.

  • How come some emails I send never get there and I never know as there is no record of it

How come some emails that I send to not get there. I never know that they haven,t gone because there is no record of me ever having sent them. I now copy myself in and now see at lts of them have not been set as I have never received them. I have a Microsoft outlook account and am very new to using an iPad. I loved it but this feature has really let me down. Help

If the emails were successfully sent, the emails should be in the account's Sent mailbox. If an email cannot be sent for whatever reason, it will be placed on the Outbox mailbox along with an error message provided. The Outbox mailbox is not available unless there is a email that could not be sent.
There is no such thing as a Microsoft Outlook account. Outlook is an email client that can be used to access an Exchange account, IMAP or POP account - no different from the iPad's Mail app.
Who is the email account provider for this email account you are accessing with Outlook and with the iPad's Mail app, and what is the account type - Exchange, IMAP, or POP?

"Your email account" means to tap on the name of your email account. Whatever it is listed as in the settings.
In my mail settings, one of my email accounts is a Comcast account. I tap on the Comcast name and it brings up this window.
Then I tap on the arrow under the Outgoing mail server smtp setting to get to the next window.
In the resulting window, I then tap on the arrow next to the smtp server under the Primary Server setting.
That brings up this window in which I check to make sure that my user name and password have been entered correctly. If those items are missing, enter them in the appropriate fields and then tap done.

Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

  • My mother used to be the bill payer on my iTunes account so now every time I send an email from my iCloud account it sent with her name, how can I change the settings so emails are sent from myself?

I've changed the bill payer to myself but it stills says on emails that I sent that its from my mother.

In order for the "From" field to show you options on the "from" addresses available, you must set them up in the Preferences > Accounts first.
I can't show you a screen shot of the from field because I currently only have one account, so the from address used is the default. However, when I had more than one, then options will show up in your compose/reply window.
You'd need to add an account here:

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
The operator will take you through some steps you may have already tried, however they need to be sure they have exhausted all usual approaches before trying to reset your account, so you should try to be helpful and show patience with the procedure.
The operator will need to verify they are speaking to the account holder and may ask you some questions that only the account holder could know, and you will need to answer them if the process is to proceed.
Once the operator has verified your identity they will send a message through to your device which contains an alpha numeric code, which you will need to read back to them.
Once this has been completed they will send an email to your iCloud email address after a period of 24 hours, so you should check that mail is enabled in your devices iCloud settings.
Upon receipt of the email, use the reset link provided to reset your password, after which you should be able to make the adjustments to iCloud that you wish to do.

    You aren't doing anything wrong.
If the PDF is short enough, your iPad Mail app will display the text as part of the mail.
Actually it is still an attachment.
Tap and HOLD on the text and you should see options to "Open In..." that will allow you to open the PDF in most PDF readers such as iBooks, GoodReader, etc.

  • Picture of myself appears in every email I send!

A few days ago a thumbnaail size picture of myself started appearing in the upper right hand corner of every email I send. I have no idea as to what I did to make this start happening or how to make it stop.

This is a PS to my prior message. I went to Systems Preferences>accounts>picture and found that at some long forgotten time I must have taken my picture in that window. It never did appear in my emails until a week of so ago. However, I deleted the photo from the accounts>picture window and to my great joy the problem seems to have gon away. Thank you very muchfor your help.
