Email I was trying to forward was stuck in outbox for hours. Unable to stop it attepmting to send or delete it.

After having over a month of trouble-free use with my new iphone 4 on Verizon, I had a problem while traveling over the weekend that I could not figure out.
I was in a strong signal area with good 3G coverage and went to forward an email that was received shortly before on my Charter account. ( a pop 3 account). The iphone went to send/forward the email and it would never leave the outbox. The progress bar on the bottom said "sending" and the circular activity indicator just kept spinning. Once in the screen showing the outbox the "edit" button in the upper right hand corner was grayed-out. I could not touch on the email to try to highlight it.
So I tried to force-quit the email app and then restart it-same thing. I tried to shut the phone off for a few minutes and restart it-same thing. I held the home button down for several seconds while in the outbox-all I got was voice control. I put the phone in airplane mode for a half hour and then back to normal operation-same problem.
I then decided to try to send another email with the same account, hoping it would purge the stuck email from the outbox- the new email sent properly and the older one that I had been trying to forward was still stuck.
So after about 6 hours I went back inot the outbox for the 20th time and the email was still stuck, still trying to send, but this time the "edit" button was NOT grayed-out. I was then able to hit "edit", select the stuck email from the outbox, and delete it. It never got forwarded.
Over the course of those 6 hours I traveled to another major city (by car) that also had great signal strength and 3G coverage and the phone was still unable to forward that email (it was stuck trying to send)
Please help! I love my new iphone, but that really freaked me out.

What happends when you press the Home button?  If nothing, try resetting your iPad by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

If this has happened more than once the problem is likely on your PC.

How do you fix Sent emails getting s tuck in Outbox for a period of time before they actually send?
The error message says that my "sender address is rejected by the server", but it eventually does send.

Have you tried a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!

  • My flash update has been stuck at 30% for hours. Is there anything I can do to actually get it to download?

I have been trying to download flash to watch an exam review and it has been stuck at 30% for hours. I tried restarting the download and it went to 30% and stopped again. I am using a Mac with the most up to date software available for it.

This morning we resolved a problem that prevented Flash Player installations from completing for some of our Macintosh users.
If you encountered this problem, please delete any previously downloaded Flash Player installer and either:
1.)      Download the installer again from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
    2.)      Download the stand-alone installer from  http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg

I can receive incoming mail ok and I can send email from other Apple devices. The problem seems confined to my Mac Book Pro.

  • Was stuck on "Waiting For iPhone." Now it won't respond to the charge chord

My phone has been giving me a lot of trouble today and I've been looking all over for tips and tricks, but so far, nothing has helped.
It's an iPhone 4. One of my apps was being glitchy after a recent update, so I decided to delete it and reinstall it. When that didn't solve the issue, I decided to shut my phone off and turn it on again to see if it made a difference. Since then, it's been stuck in a loop. At first, it was stuck on the Apple logo. I managed to get it into recovery mode and connected it to iTunes, but only got as far as the "Waiting For iPhone" message.
After several attempts to get it to recover, it no longer responds to the charge chord. Pressing and holding the top and home buttons only gives me the Connect To iTunes image and when I reconnect it to my computer, ... nothing.
What should I do? Is my phone lost for good? If I take it to the Apple Store in another city, is there anything they can do, or am I out of luck because I'm out of warranty?

The message that you're getting about the USB port is Windows rather than the Shuffle, ignore this as it will all work anyway.
How were you formatting the iPod shuffle? Using Windows? If this is the case I'd assume that was probably a bad choice that Windows asked you to make.
In any case I would download the latest iPod updater from http://www.apple.com/uk/ipod/download/ - open this and then plug your iPod into your computer - update the firmware and then everything hopefully should be sorted

  • I have a new email and am trying to change it in icloud. but it has locked me out and won't send my email a reset password link for some reason. even though it says its sent, it doesnt come to the email address

i have a new email so have a new apple ID now and am trying to change it in icloud. but it has locked me out and won't send my email a reset password link for some reason. even though it says its sent, it doesnt come to the email address. help!

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
You will need to show patience with the procedure and be prepared to demonstrate without question that the account belongs to you. Don’t expect access to be restored immediately and if you aren’t the owner of the Apple ID registered to the device the account won’t be reset.

  • MacBook Pro stuck at updating for hours. What should I do

hey guys, I have been leave my macbook pro for update for hours but its still stuck at "less than a minute".
Should i restart it or just leave it there?

Use the power switch to shut the computer down. Restart,  menu/About This Mac - what OS version is installed? If not 10.10.3, then try the combo update.

  • I cannot send out emails from my iPad,says my email address was rejectected by server. I am receiving mail, but can't send?

When sending emails from iPad,I get message: email was rejected by server.  I am receiving mail to rejected email address

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if it then works

  • Centurylink webmail claims that firefox is causing webmail to convert emails I am trying to forward to attachments resulting in the content not being sent.

webmail converts content to an attachment upon clicking forward or reply, shows the paperclip and subject of the email then sends email sans the attachment.

Or am I stuck with it until the person I don't know has me in their address book clenses their computer???
That probably won't fix it, unfortunately. It is probably a result of Spoofing -
Email spoofing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Once the spoofing entity has grabbed your email address from that person, they have it - the other person can 'cleanse' their machine but it will do no good.
You could go to the bother of changing your email account and address. It won't stop the activity and use of your old address, but it will stop the 'can't deliver it' messages.
Or, just ignore it and keep throwing those messages away. They'll dwindle to very seldom in time.

  • Brand new Ipod Touch, tried to update, stuck in recovery for hours

I just received an iPod Touch today. I hooked it up to itunes, played around with it for a bit, with no problems, and several hours later downloaded the upgrade 2.02 from the itunes store. I followed the directions. In the process of downloading, I noticed that it seemed to be stalled on "Verifying Ipod Software" for over an hour. The screen of the ipod displays the Apple logo and the little circular icon that indicates progress beneath it (which had stopped for some time). After several hours and after searching for answers here, I figured that there must be a problem. I couldn't do anything in itunes and the only thing to stop the downloading was to force the ipod to shut off. I hated doing this, but I knew something was wrong and there was nothing else to do. I discovered that itunes was actually frozen and I had to force quit that, as well.
I started up the ipod again, and of course, it indicated that I needed to plug in the USB cord. I did and it prompted me to restore. I tried to do that and came up with the 1604 error. Tried it again, same thing. Then, when I restarted the ipod, I came up with a white screen, which was quite scary. I shut down my computer and started it back up again. I began the recovery process, which, this time, went smoothly, until I hit the "Verifying iPod Software" section. It's been over an hour and it's still on this. The progress bar isn't moving forward, it's the sort of moving stripes bar, if that makes sense. iPod screen is frozen. I'm afraid to either disconnect/quit again, or leave it. I'll have to disconnect at some point to take it to the Apple Store, but I'm afraid I'm only damaging it further.
I know these questions have been asked here, but I'm not even expecting an answer to the root of the problem (I'm used to this madness, as a frequent Apple customer). I just need to know whether it's better to quit this recovery and disconnect, or just keep leaving it. How long until I KNOW that it's not working?

Well, I figured since I had nothing to lose on the ipod (since I'd already stopped the updating once), I would just do it again, and try to restore it without the firmware upgrade. Because the ipod worked just fine with its original settings. The exact same thing happened - itunes was frozen.
So I went through the process again, only this time I followed some advice from another thread, tracked down the folder where the firmware update was stored, and trashed it. Then I tried to restore the ipod again. Well, it turns out that there's no going back to the old version. It merely downloaded the firmware update yet again. I let it go, figuring that there could have been something wrong with the first download and I'll wait and see. Now, I'm in the "Restoring Ipod Software" section. I have a feeling nothing will change. So, I'll be taking this to the Apple Store tomorrow (and raising ****).

  • Email's for MobileMe Account stuck in outbox for Mail.app

I upgraded to OS X Lion and have had the usual issues everyone else has had.  I've followed everyone's advice to fix them all, but now I've developed this new one.  I can't send emails anymore from my MobileMe account on my Mac.  The emails get stuck in the outbox and never send.  If I post them to the drafts in the Mail.app, and then go through Safari into the MobileMe Account, I can send the email out without a problem.  Just not from the Mail.app.  Can anyone shed some light on this one?  I'll post any data log you may need, I just don't know where to look for an answer.  Thanks.
    On a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 MBP 15", running 10.7, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 ram cache.

The new update 10.7.1 resolved the issue and I am now able to send and receive emails from my MBP at home.  Please disregard this entire post series. Problem solved.

  • Email says "Copying to Outbox" for hours.

I am trying to send an email with a compressed .zip 15gb exported Final Cut Pro X movie to an address, but when I click send it closes the window like normal, but it doesn't appear in the sent box. I click Window > Activity and see the process Copying to Outbox. I leave it on and the process takes hours and it still hasn't sent or appeared in the outbox/sentbox. Help me! I need to get this video sent.

    Mitch
The problem is probably that your file is much larger than it is possilbe to send by most email accounts.
Most email accounts limit file size to around 4 or 5 megabytes.
Suggest you find someone like Adrive or another service that will allow you to upload your large file to their servers for transmission to the eventual recipient.

  • Firefox keeps prompting an update, but can't complete it. It gets stuck on "Connecting to the Server" and runs for hours until I stop it. Help!

I have a Mac OS X ver. 10.5.8 and I've used Firefox on it since I got it 3 years (?) ago. The most recent update for both Firefox and Thunderbird keeps prompting me, but when I say "yes" to update, a bar appears with lines moving through it and it says, "Connecting to the update Server" but it never gets any farther. I've left it for hours at a time and it won't actually update either program.

If you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded
