Email Icon shows envelope outlined in red with red envelope on top

Does anyone know why all of a sudden my email icon shows a white envelope outlined in red with a smaller red envelope on top? It was previously (for the last year) a white envelope. Verizon is my provider.

How do I make my email icon show when an email arrives?

Hi - I have been to Apple store and ATT and my phone 4S still will not show when an email arrives on the mail icon. I have to open the email, click on mail, then when I come back out the icon shows the email is there. HELP!! I need to know the second an email arrives. My family all have iphones and theirs work perfect.

How do I prevent all the email message icons from showing up each time a new email comes in? They are taking away space from my other folders. I wouldn't mind one icon that shows me that there are new messages.

Hide the message folders you don't need... I put the email specific folders in my Setup folder and ignore them, and then use only the main Messages folder.

My iPod Touch is either a blue screen or shows the battery as drained with red at the front and a white lightening bolt below it. It is plugged in to charge, but won't.

I tried holding down both buttons and it will temp. turn off, then show the apple, then a narrow white line goes from left to right and then the blue screen stays on. I am not that familiar with dealing with electronic devices so please keep any instructions as simple as possible, thanks. T

Also, if youy can't turn the iPod off (screen off) then try letting the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try the articles again.

The email icon will not disappear even though I have no email....

Can anyone please help me! On my BB Curve 8330, the email notification icon will not disappear. I have no unread emails but it always has a 1and the new email icon showing? Has this happened with anyone else or does anyone know how to fix it?

Logman has suggested some great advice.
Here is a very thorough way to search for unopened messages.
From the main message queue do a search:
service=ALL SERVICES
folder: ALL FOLDERS
show: ONLY UNREAD
type=ALL

If that doesn't work, and you by chance have at least one gmail account, you might actually have unread emails in a folder other than the Inbox.

Don't want my AOL Email to show in the MESSAGES mailbox

Just got the 8300 from Verizon.    I set it up to get mail from my AOL mailbox.    The mail shows up in the "green" mail envelope on the main screen..     There is also a "mailbox" on the main screen.   That mailbox collects every voicecall, text message AND email that I recieve.    So..I am getting email in BOTH places.    I don't want the email to show up in the mailbox with text and voicecalls...I just want my email to show up in the "green" mail envelope.
So....does anyone know how to program the 8300 to "not" put my AOL mail in the messages mailbox? I've messed around with almost every menu...trying to find a way...but no luck.

On your BB device, you have a 'main' Messages folder, which collects ALL email, messages, SMS, PIN messages etc.
That is as designed. You can remove the SMS text messages to a separate folder (Messages > Menu > Options > General Options > scroll down to SMS and Email inboxes and choose > Separate.
You also have an AOL email inbox. You can hide it , you really don't need it.

How to ensure that if i have an email it shows up as unread and also notifies me

I have set up the notification for emails in iphone6 but it seems it is not working. In the older version of the iphone it came up above the email icon showing that how many mails have been recd. and unread. How to ensure that this works.

Sign into hotmail on your computer and there should be a tab for mobile or device settings. In there you can tell hotmail to listen to what you tell it to do on your mobile device.
I will say I've seen minimal functionality, although it doesn't bother me too much since my hotmail is largely unused.

BB 8100 nuked or battery with red slash line !!

HI my name is mustafa....Last year i was using my bb 8100 smartphone..i really liked it...its shape its model...Its a bb8100 maroon colour,..no 3g...orange company with oracle sku #:64768...
So what happened is that my bb was having a low battery & i turned it on..It was taking a long time to switch on,so i took out the battery..I charged it on my wall charger later i connected the battery to my bb 8100...It showed me a battery sign with red line on it...i thought the battery wasn't working so i was having an extra battery & used it but no luck it showed me the same sign....Then i searched & googled online & found out that my bb 8100 is nuked....My operating system is windows 7..I would like to know that is there any solution to bring my phone to live...really i liked it a lot....Any help would ve appreciated...

Quicktime symbol with Question Mark on top

My daughther needs to access some audio files for a Spanish class through her college "blackboard" website. We replaced her iBook G4 with a Macbook Pro this weekend. Now when she goes to the website to play the audio clips, they show up as a "Q" with a "?" on top of it. For some reason, they will not play on Safari 4 and Quicktime under Snow Leopard. She was using Safari 4 & Quicktime under 10.4.11 on the iBook and it worked fine.
I had her switch to Firefox and the audio files embedded in the website play just fine. I selected the file to see what format it was -- it is "Track3.mp3".
Any suggestions as to why this doesn't work with Safari under Snow Leopard?

I work for a retailer who sends out e-receipts as pdf attachements. When the email arrives on any apple product, i see the email with the paperclip icon showing that there is an attachment but i cannot ever see or find the actual attachment. Any ideas?

i have scrolled left, right, up and down on iphone4, iphone5 and ipad and the attachment simply does not exist. It has to be something with the apple mail client setup because for any mail client, if they go to the webemail thru safari, the attachment is there and it can be viewed without issue.
I know there are plenty of people out there with this issue with the mail clients set up that you access thru the email icon on the iphone and ipad but i cannot find anyone with a resolution. I cannot find any settings in the mail client setup that has anything to do with attachments or for what attachments can or cannot be read or seen.
Hopefully someone out there has figured something out because this is an odd one.

Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.

Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.

I have an iPhone 4 using iOS 7.1.2. On my home screen at the email icon it shows I have over 11,000 unread emails. I have no emails and am not receiving any. Ipad shows I am receiving emails ok. Om my phone deleted folder is empty as well as Sent.

Where did this come from and how do I get rid of it. The number is printed in read on top of the blue and white emaiI icon. I contacted my cable company and through their website I can check my email. In doing this it showed I had 25 unread emails. Also, my iPad 2 is receiving emails fine. So the problem is with the iPhone 4. What can I do to get rid of the number and make my mail operational?

I would start with taking a look at the settings to make sure that you are able to send and receive messages. If everything looks good then the next step would be to remove the accounts and add them back in.
