Email in landscape mode?

I tried turning my iphone on its side to view an email in landscape mode but it didn't work.
Am i missing something, or can you only read emails in the vertical position?

Same problem. It would be nice to view email in landscape mode, but I don't think you can. Maybe after the next software update!

  • Locking Landscape Mode

    1. LOVE my iPhone
    2. I'm old and my fingers are stubby, it is much easier for me to see and type in Landscape mode.
Is there any way at this point "OR" an app that will lock messaging and email in landscape mode?
    Thank you in advanced.

You can't lock landscape mode (or portrait for that matter). You just have to hold it in that position for it to stay landscape. I too wish we had the option to lock in either mode. We can post feedback here... http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
Search here (http://appshopper.com/) for an app that may offer a fixed a landscape keyboard in their messaging app.

  • Email won't wrap in landscape mode

Hello when sending a email on Craig's list through my gmail account in landscape mode when my email gets close
To the end of the page it disappears unless I put my phone up right.  Any suggestions on how to fix this.

I would also like to clarify that this is only in artist view.

  • Keyboard won't react when in landscape mode on SMS?

    Hi There.
    I updated my 5S to the IOS8.
After that, I had problems when writing an SMS. Sometimes (almost every time) the keyboard doesn’t react to anything when turning to landscape mode. I then have to turn the phone upright, and the down to landscape again. The screen then goes black, and I can press the home-button to see the screen again.
I actually thought this was a bug in IOS8 since it appeared after the update.
Now I bought the IPhone 6. And I set that up with the complete backup from my 5S. I then updated to IOS 8.0.2, and the problem is also on my IP6
I can’t find anyone else with this problem, so what can I do now?
Is the only solution to reset the IP6 to factory default, and install sms, and contacts via iCloud?
But then I have to install all the apps manually?
I have a lot of apps with personal settings, and different mail accounts. I really don’t want to do all this.
    Anyone have a solution?
    Kind regards.

Same issue here. Just did the download now I'll hit the alpha key on the screen and it does not register. Only happens in landscape mode. Only tried it on imessage and SMS, did not try email yet.

  • IPhone 6 plus problem in app Landscape mode

    Hello,
i got the iphone 6 plus yesterday, I switched from an android phone, and there are some things that I am finding quite annoying. First, some of the apps do not support landscape mode and force portrait mode. I have an iPad and this is not an issue with these apps there. screen rotation is not locked and standard view is enabled. When entering text on landscape mode, screen responsiveness is poor for text entry. When I want to share something, the options are limited to Facebook, YouTube, email and a couple more, on android I couls share directly to many more things including whatsapp. I don't know how much of this is just normal iOS

    Hi Sunnifromlondon,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone screen is not rotating as expected, there could be several potential causes. First, we can attempt some troubleshooting steps that may resolve the issue.
I recommend going through all of the steps in this support site article:

  • The message pane obstructs view in landscape mode.

In the landscape mode of my iPhone 6+, the left hand pane which displays messages (in the message app) or recent emails (in the email app) obstructs useable screen space.  I am a 2 thumb typer and like using the landscape view for messages and email.  I have not found a way to select whether I wish to display that pane, or not.  Is there a way of doing that?......or can we convince Apple to provide one?

Thank you!! That was too simple, I kept checking settings

  • Has Apple come up with a solution to remove the iPad sidebar in Mail while in landscape mode?

    Hi, Everyone.
When I review open Mail, I need to review it in landscape mode, so I can use the ipad cover's keyboard to type my replies. I would like to be able to hide (or even shrink) the sidebar. Unlike the "relative" privacy of viewing your email at your desk, the ipad is meant to be a mobile device: I use it on the train, I take it to meetings, etc.  It's annoying to have people looking over my shoulder or sitting next to me in a conference table able to glance over and, in effect, see the names of the last 11 people or entities that have emailed me  - with the subjects. (I work in HR, handling a lot of staff and faculty compensation, discipline, ando other politically charged issues - so privacy is kind of a big deal)  Yes, I could flip it to portrait mode and hide the sidebar, but that forces me to tilt my cover's bluetooth keyboard 90 degrees to the side and I am not yet proficient in typing sideways.
I've seen mutiple posts over the past year about this.  I'm using IOS 8.1.3.  Has Apple resolved this or offered a suitable accommodation?
    Thank you for any replies.

TThe answer is simple. No Apple has not implemented a way to hide the preview pane of the mail app when you use the device in landscape mode. I use my iPad in landscape mode 95% of the time as well, so that I can use the larger keys on the virtual keyboard. You can hide the preview of what the emails say I Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Preview>None. If you do that, at least you will be hiding the beginning of the message so that nobody can read it. I realize that's not your solution, but it might help.
I also suggest that you leave feedback for Apple.

  • Filling out PDF forms in Landscape Mode

I have used Preview to fill out PDF forms in Portrait mode and it's very nice because I can save the modified file and email it to others, or just keep it for reference. Anyway, I downloaded a PDF form and tried to fill out the text. It highlights the form fields just right, with the blue glowy rectangle and everything, and when I type in the text it appears just fine, until that field loses focus, then the text goes goofy--it shows up starting at the right hand side of the field and goes in the wrong direction. It's as if Preview still thinks that the PDF is in portrait mode even though it's in landscape mode. Do you know what I'm doing wrong or if there's a fix out there?

  • Landscape mode no longer working in Mail app.

When I'm using the mail app, and turn the Iphone on it's side, it no longer goes into landscape mode. Other than that, the mail app is still working as it should, and landscape mode is still functional in other apps such as messaging.
I'm at a loss. I really want to use the larger keyboard when emailing. Anyone have any suggestions?

Try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

  • Landscape mode trash can GUI issue

This is a minor problem but one that surprised me that Apple didn't catch. When emptying the trash can in landscape mode in email, the lid of the trash can opens up and beyond the grey border. That's a rather ugly GUI effect.

    Let Apple know at: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html

  • Notification center doesnt come down in landscape mode

I'v recently updated my ipad 2 to ios 5 and the notification center doesnt cme down when the ipad in landscape mode. And it appears to be missing the email notifications.  Can you help me?

The touch point for the notification center is way at the very top of the screen.  Where the time is in safari.  You have to get all the way there.
As respects e mail, do you have fetch turned on in your mailsettings?  If not, it will never know that you have a message.

  • Landscape Mode works 1/2 of the time

About 1/2 of the time, when I turn my 3gs on its side, instead of going into landscape mode my screen either goes black and stays that way or the Google "Speak Now" screen comes up. When I turn it back to vertical, the original page returns. Is this a HW problem?
    Thanks

Sounds more like a software (OS bug)
Try a hard reset, if that doesn't work you have two other options...
Restore using "Restore from back up" I'd try this first, typically when trying to rid yourself of an OS bug this is not what you want to use, but on the off chance it does work it does avoid you having to back up all your settings and notes and photos etc...
If that doesn't work you are left with a restore using "set up as new iPhone" which does make you loose things like texts, user settings, photos you have not synced from the camera roll... things like contacts and email accounts and such that are checked for sync in iTunes are ok since that dat will sync to an application like Mail or Outlook.. POP3 inbox items are lost also and there is no way around that... This is why I suggest the first option but please keep in mind that the first option's resolve expectancy is low... but it's simpler...
