Email is showing in iMessages instead of phobe number after iOS 8 update

For some reason it only does with certain people. It shows my email instead of the my number on their phones. I re-activated iMessage, turned off phone and deleted conversations and it still does It.

delete convo then go to settings, general, reset, reset all settings. this causes the phone to reset and finishes installing certain iOS 8 features pertaining to email and iMessage and will fix any glitches you're having. it has worked for myself and everyone else I have shared it with.

IMessage doesn't function properly after iOS 8 update

Looked everywhere for somebody with a similar problem but only came to find issues with group messaging, so here is my issue:
I have an iPhone 5C, 16GB with the brand new iOS 8 update.
Before iOS 8, I was able to use all the features of my phone to their full potential, including iMessage.
After about 2 days of having iOS 8, an issue presented itself, I couldn't iMessage only a handful of my friends.
Oddly enough, my iMessage has been acting slow, but still functioning for everyone else while the handful of friends I mentioned before cannot receive or message me using iMessage.
To clarify what happens:
When I click on my Messages app on my iPhone I use the above top-right plus sign to create a new conversation.
When I begin to type in their contact, I notice their name is gray. If this isn't an issue already, when I click on their name to create a new conversation, despite it being gray, it shows green instead of the official iMessage blue, which is the only way I can contact them.
I'd also like to point out that it does not matter whether I am connected to WiFi or using my AT&T Cellular data, iMessage just fails to function properly.
If it helps, the two people I have noticed this issue with have iPhone 4's running the latest iOS 7 firmware. I have been able to message another friend with an iPhone 4, which is a reason I think their phones aren't the issue.

I've had lots of problems with sending some messages as text messages and then other times as iMessages even though I have data and am signed into iCloud and am sending to another iPhone. Group messages are definitely problems with everyone having iPhones. It seems like it usually involves someone who hasn't updated to iOS8 yet. But it doesn't always mess up. It seems random for me and my friends and family who are having these same issues.

Imessage changed my phone number after the ios7 update

after the ios7 update imessaging has changed my number to some weird 7 digit number with a +1 (1) infront of it. if someone txts my actual phone number the message wont deliver.. i have reset everything on the phone multiple times and have did alot of troubleshooting for this and nothing seems to work. i went to the apple store and they said to call the techs.. i did that before i even went to the store and they couldnt do anything for me. if anybody has any ideas on how to fix this please help! thank you

You can't change it back by going to Settings>Phone, and then by clicking on your number at the top? It should take you to a screen that will allow you to delete what is there and type your own number in.

Wrong number in iMessage
simple fix
go to settings- messages - send and receive- select the numbers and emails you want to use - deselect the ones you don't need

if you cant check or uncheck these do this turn imessage off then
reset all settings
settings-general-reset-reset all settings
now reconnect to wifi
settings- wifi- click network name- enter password - join
if issue persists back up and restore as new via iTunes

Details: When "()" shows up, he is using Mac Mail to send out his email. This happens sporadically, we haven't noticed any patterns.

Programs usually aren't the biggest culprits in terms of space usage, it's normally data files that take up more space. This kind of huge library really is best installed on an external drive, provided you don't mind carrying it around with you. Here's how you install it on an external:

From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Language & Region
From the Region menu in the window, select one of the preset regions. If one is already selected, choose a different one, then change it back. Close the preference pane and test.

Hi Go to settings Email Accounts Delete Email Account then Re add acount back again If you have more than one Email Account do this with each one. Cheers Brian

Same issue here. In searching through Apple Discussions site I see this has been happening for at least 5 years now were b-days can pop up 1 or even 2 days early. Really Apple? I am disappoint.

I Was wodnering of you ever had ths issue resolved. My wife's iPad 2 is havieng a similiar issue. The iPad receives only some emails -- they appear to be from people in her contacts-- but not emials from "strange" soucrces. No junk mail rules are set. And oddly enough it is a new iCloud email address.
What happened to your issue?

That is a major problem with iOS 5. To see the previuos posts, search the communities search function in the upper right and search for:

Short of a reset to factory settings I've found making sure iMessaging is not left minimised helps. It doesn't seem to keep its connection. So, by closing after each use this helps. I've been doing this since I logged out of iMessaging at least 1/2 doz times and even changed my apple id pw as this had ceased to be recognised. I get fewer send failures now and don't have an inactive send button so much. Having said this its all a bit of a work around as iMessaging isn't behaving as it once did. If over time not resolved will do factory reset. All the best.

Why do people see my email when i send imessages instead of my phone number

I recently had to erase my phone due to me forgetting my passcode and every since I erased it, my imessages will not work properly. By this I mean, I cant sign in with my apple id. And when i did someone manage to get it up people were saying that my old phone number was showing up. Then I tried to reset again and then email keeps showing up. I've tried everything I can and nothing will make it work properly.

Go into Settings>Messages>iMessage and see if it is activated. If yes, then turn it off. Then do a reset on the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. After the phone has restarted, go back into Settings>Messages>iMessage and turn it on. Make sure it activates, and then go to Send & Receive and make sure your phone number is listed there, is grayed out and has a checkmark by it. If you do not want to use your Apple ID for iMessage, you can tap on it to remove the checkmark.

Mail not showing accounts after ios 7 update on iPhone 5

After the ios 7 update to my iPhone 5 mail does not show my accounts. Specifically there is nothing below the word Accounts. The rest is working fine and still connected to my three accounts. However it no longer shows accounts.

thanks for the suggestions, i tried the ideas you suggested but i dont even get a camera showing for the rear camera, i also noticed the torchlight no longer works. i did all the steps but no luck.
So I took my camera to the genius bar this weekend as well as walking through various steps with the apple guys in ohio support over the net.
With the guys at the genius bar, after i insisted that it must be software as the rear camera stopped working only after the softwre update, they continued to assure me it was hardware and talked me into letting them replace the camera, they then took it to the back and tried fixing a camera and 30 minutes later came out and said the rear camera is no longer being detected and wanted me to replace the motherboard for yet more money. im glad they didnt charge me for the new camera though as it still didnt work.
anyway the motherboard idea i rejected as it was just 2 months out of warranty and had only stopped working the day after the release of 7.0.2, so im going to wait until the next few releases to see what happens, as i dont believe for a second its hardware. i expected a stock answer from apple and its exactly what i got even after my explanation of how it was working the day before the release. not overly impressed with the whole process.
i wanted to back down to 7.0.1 to confirm the camera still works but they said no chance so i cant even see if it still works ouside 7.0.2. anyway will update if i get any further progress.

Is anyone else getting "No stories to show" on their facebook news feed since the ios 6 update?

Ever since I downloaded the ios 6 update, I can no longer access my news feed on the facebook app. It consistently tells me there are no stories to show. I have done a hard reboot, shut the phone off then turned back on, reinstalled the facebook app about 5 times. I don't know what else to do. I know I couldn't possibly be the only person this is happening to.

I think this might have something to do with wireless connections.
Downloads and browsing appear somewhat faster while using my mobile carrier's network but very slow on my home wireless or any other wireless.
I have not experienced problems with autocorrect yet.

After ios 7 update I can no longer iMessage

After the latest update I can no longer send an iMessage. I have about 6 messages that were undeliverable. I searched the Internet and found many others are having the same issues. I asked my granddaughter to iMessage me from her phone and she said it went as a text message which I didn't get because I've blocked texting.
I re-booted, reset my network settings as suggested and nothing has done any good. There were postings that Apple is aware of this issue and will do an update thru iTunes.
Does anyone here have any ideas as to why I can't iMessage or what I can try to get it to work again?

I decided I'm just too chicken. I went to the AT&T store this morning to see if they could help me but they said since it was an Apple problem, I should call an Apple Store. I did that and they said if I would come in they might be able to help me. But that would be driving across the bridge to St. Louis County which I will NOT do. Those highways are killers.
I've been seriously considering going with a prepaid plan because AT&T is getting to me. This was probably the final straw.
I really appreciate your time but guess I'll just pass. BTW, the Apple Store said they had NO idea when Apple would update the software to fix this problem since only about 1% suffered this problem. My children had no problems at all. So strange.
I did do the hard re-boot and disabled my Network setting and also IMessaging to no avail.
Thanks again. I've printed off your instructions in case I decide to take the risk.
