Email keeps flattening the layers on my psd and tiff files

My friend and I both have macs that run Leopard 10.5.6, and we both have Photoshop CS3. When she sends me a psd file through email, I can open it in photoshop, and see all the layers. When I create a psd file with multiple layers, I double check that it's saved properly by reopening it, and still see the layers. When I send it to her through email, she gets a flattened image with just the background layer. Same thing happens with tiff files. I don't think the problem is with the photoshop because the layers are all there and fine until I send it through email. Does anyone have any ideas on this one?

Ah yes, I think the option changed from "Create Archive" in Tiger to "Compress" in Leopard.
I'm not sure why the original problem only manifested one-way for you. It may not even be your computer - there could be a process in your outgoing mail server, or your colleague's incoming server, which affects the attachment. I've seen corruption with binary files before when sent through email, and converting them into ZIP files did the trick.
Also, if you're regularly transferring large files, you might want to look into an alternative to email, such as a shared file server (eg an iDisk, or a third-party hosting site, using FTP) or a professional file transfer service such as YouSendIt, or even sending through IM.

Bonjour. All of my psd and tiff renders in Shake are creating invalid files, i.e. that can't be opened in Shake itself of Photoshop etc.

As for the request to view layers, that would be nice but certainly not easy to realize. But it might be useful to extend this request in more detail, about how would you see them. Currently the preview window has a max of 9 files to view in one panel, would you see them scrollable or together in one window? Some layers have only masks or brush corrections in masks, would you see them in the same way as in PS using alt click on a mask?
The more detailed you make your feature request the better chance in getting more votes and better replies in possibility etc.

Bridge Plugin: Make comments and see layers in PSD and TIFF files

I've been searching the interweb thin for Bridge plug-ins without luck.
I work in a production company and we have a quite intense QA process meaning that we compare images against each other and return feedback to editors.
So instead of cycling through applications it would make our life so much easier to just stay inside adobe bridge.
What I'm looking for is a plugin for Adobe Bridge with following attributes:
1. leave comments and notes on images
2. See layers in tiff and PSD files
I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this request, but I figured that this was the best place to ask.
Ps. it is not important what version of Bridge it will be compatible with (but preferable cs6)

PS CS5 and PSD and TIFF files

I.m working on a project and noticed when I went to save a file as a tiff it asked if for pc or mac. If I save as a pc will that tiff be able to be opened on a mac?
After seeing the options on saving the tiff came up with another question - the psd files when saved can they be read on either the pc or mac?

You might want to read the dialog, and the manual.
That's only asking for the byte order -- and it really doesn't matter unless you're sending the TIFF to a buggy program that ignores the byte order in the file.
PSD files work just fine on any platform.

I'm trying to import layers that were created as EPS files. I converted them into PSD and TIFF files in Photoshop CS6. FCP is rejecting the PSD files and flattening the the TIFFs. Help!

Perfect. I changed the mode to RGB and it worked. I had already confirmed the layers were all rasterized. Thank you for your help.

Older PSD and Tif files don't import

I know I have seen this on the forum, but I could not find it. I am importing all of my archives into Aperture. Some older PSD and Tiff files (pre 2000) just don't import. No warning. Just missing files. This is a bit scary as I can't go through all of the folders 1 by 1 to see what is missing. Is this a known bug....any work arounds. Thanks

Maybe. But, frankly, Aperture is not a PSD archiving and workflow appliation. It is a photographic workflow application. Adobe, by nature of having written Photoshop, probably has better support for old Photoshop formats than does Apple.
If you really need to import 40,000 PSD files into something, I would suggest Aperture is not the best tool for you. You want an asset manager or something that specializes in archiving/search. Aperture's raison d'etre is RAW photos, you know, that come from a camera.

You should be able to see normal layers, but PSE doesn't understand layer groups/sets or comp layers. The inexpensive add-on elements+ from simplephotoshop.com will let you expand layer groups. (If you also have Premiere Elements installed you should be able to see layer groups in PSE without adding anything.)

Who is your email provider? Have you checked with them to make sure you're using the correct settings when setting up an account on a mobile device? And what does auto-browsing have to do with using email?

Is it possible that the person who sent the message to your phone sent it to your phone # instead? Try sending a message to your phone via the email address and see if it shows up on the iPad.

I don't know how rare this is. I went a week or so without a problem, and now it's starting to recur. Also, in some instances, an email will look unsent (remain in the outbox on the Treo), but it has been sent, and recipients are replying while I'm trying to figure out what is going on. Further, it will send the same email over and over during this madness.
This is a show stopper. If there isn't a software fix soon, I may chuck this phone in the garbage.

UPDATE: The problem comes and goes. The next day, no changes to the treo, everything workeds. Now i'm suspecting the sprint server, and how it/the phone responds from failing to send while roaming. I've since turned off roaming, and haven't had a problem for several days.

Are you installing from the official site? http://www.mozilla.com/firefox
If you use Windows Explorer (My Computer) to check that path, is the Mozilla Firefox folder there? That is the normal installation location, but I think it's worth checking.
If the folder isn't there or firefox.exe is not in it, I wonder whether some other software might be interfering. You might want to run some supplemental security scans. These two tools are highly regarded:

If you have to keep restoring your iPad with iTunes repeatedly and there is no change after restoring as a new iPad or not from the iPad's backup, your iPad has a major problem - likely a hardware problem. The iPad includes a one year warranty. You can call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.
