  • How to use Yahoo Mail to send email using email links on webpages

    When I'm on a webpage that has a link to send an email, I cut and paste the the email address (which is the link) and paste it into my Yahoo Mail address bar. However, some webpages don't show the email address as a link. Instead, the link might be "write me" or "send mail", so I can't cut and paste an address.
    If I click on an email link, a window pops up that says "Welcome to Mail" and it states that the assistant will guide me through the steps to configure my email account. To get started, this assistant requires a password that I don't possess.
    So I'm stuck not being able to access an email application that I don't want to use in the first place.
    Is there a way to set up my computer so that I could click an email link on a webpage and have Yahoo Mail pop up?
    If not, is there at least a way to send an email using an email link that doesn't show the email address, without using (what I assume to be) the Apple mail Application? If it is necessary, how do I recover the password for the mail assistant? I'm not aware of ever having used or set up a password before.
    THANK YOU

    If you don't want Mail to open, don't click on the app.  If it's opening at login, right click its Dock icon>Option>de-select Open at Login.

  • In Mac Mail 4.5, how do I set preferences so that when I click on an email link the webpage opens in Firefox instead of Safari?

    I want to click on a link in an email and have the webpage open in Firefox instead of the default which is Safari.

    Hi roundabout-
    I was able to see links in Mac Mail 4.5 open in Firefox. I had the Firefox application open, and when I clicked a link in the mail client it opened correctly. I'm sorry if this is not helpful. Is Firefox set as your preferred browser?

  • I use aol mail, and I want to change my mailto: to aol. Firefox won't let me do that. When I click on an email link in a webpage, my computer goes nuts.

    When I click on an email link on a webpage, my computer goes crazy. (Please note that links to other websites are fine.) My computer seems to want to link me to Internet Explorer, which I don't use often. The computer starts running very fast and hot. Sometimes, I get a multitude of identical error messages from Explorer, and it is often hard to delete them!
    I thought maybe I could solve this by changing my mailto: client, but there is no link for Aol. Please help!
    Thanks.

    PS: Why am I still on AOL? I still use the first email address I got many years ago. Friends and clients know my email and use it to contact me. I don't want to change it.

    Hi, cor-el,
    Thank you for responding so quickly!
    I tried to follow the instructions, but it didn't work. There are 10 mimeTypes.rdf files on my computer!
    I tried to follow the website instructions of
    Tools -> Options -> Content / File Types -> Manage
    but once I get to Content I am stuck. No Manage button. (there is nothing that says File Types)
    What do you suggest?
    Thanks again.

  • When I try to send a webpage in Firefox (file-email link), Thunderbird crashes. If I copy & paste same link by hand, it works. Why is this?

    When I try to send a web link in Firefox (file-email link), Thunderbird hangs, or I should say the email with the link hangs. The new email shows the link, I add an email address and click send, Thunderbird hangs and never completes the send. I have to copy and paste the link by hand in a new email and then it works. It seems to be an issue regarding how Firefox and Thunderbird are communicating.
    My server uses IMAP. I don't have this problem with POP, but I prefer to use IMAP.
    Thanks for any help!

    Is that the exact message that Outlooks gives you?
    Anyway, why don't you just forward the original link to the document, instead of the PDF itself?

  • Do you an extension or add-on for Firefox that can check an email link on a webpage, or if that email link is bad, make a suggestion for a good email link

    I need a way to check the email on various websites contacts pages. If that email is undeliverable, could a correct email address be found ?

    Is there anything that can scan an email link to see if that is good or find the correct email address for a website ? Maybe a program where you paste the main URL in it and it scans for all emails ?
    Thanks

  • "Email link" option changes font to "Times New Roman" at end of the URL in Outlook

    When using the "Email link" option in Firefox, it then calls Outlook, then inserts the title of the webpage, as well as the URL. This is a handy feature that I have been using for years, but has always had an annoying bug.
    The URL in the body of the message conforms with Outlook's settings (font is Calibri 11 for me), but then Firefox also adds a space at the end of the URL, which is formatted in Times New Roman 12. I have gone through every template and setting Outlook and checked for TNR. It is nowhere to be found. This is something that Firefox is doing, and has been doing for many, many years (at least as far back as version 3.6, all the way to 17, which I'm running now.

    Seems obvious now, just added the css class to the body div.

  • Email Link Created in Muse won't work

    This is odd. I can send an email to my client from any email program. But if I select the email link from his webpage (created in Muse), even though the email is correct when an email window opens, the client is not receiving emails. Some get bouncebacks, some don't. I use apple mail and I didn't get a bounceback so I was unaware of the problem. The format I used when creating the email link was mailto:[email protected] No spaces. This is my first stab at Muse so maybe I'm missing something obvious.

    Hi
    On click to mailto: command will open the default email client that is used on computer. So Muse creates the link properly as email process works here, but hard bounce/soft bounce/spams etc are not controlled from Muse end.
    Sending and receiving email should have proper records setup , else these problems can occur.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • How do I stop mail opening automatically if I click email link in browser?

    This is more an annoyance than a problem, but: I usually avoid doing this, but sometimes I forget, that when I click on an embedded email in a webpage that Mail will open and set up a composing box for that address (this is when the mailto: command is invoked, I suppose). Is there any way to disable this? I don't use the Mail application, and would just like it to stop.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    In the Preferences to Mail you can set the Default Mail application to whatever you prefer.
    Mail -> Preferences -> Default Mail Reader
    Thereafter your preferred application will appear when you click a Mailto link,
    Regards

  • DW CS3 email link

    my msn email account was recently changed from hotmail to Outlook (Thank you Microsoft!) Now the DWCS3 code can't get Outlook to open the email form. Any way to associate a different email client with the browser or enter code for private email client?

    I would say that you understood perfectly. The mailto:link hangs up on launch. I have asked others using other browsers/email to try the link and they hang up too. I will certainly give Formmail a look-see. Thank you so much.

    I'm not sure I understand.
    A mailto: link on a webpage will open whatever email client is currently installed. If no email client is installed, nothing will happen.
    If you are using an html form on your website and it has stopped sending emails when submitted, you'll need to update the address in the form preocessing script from your old address to your new one.
    For what it's worth, using a mailto: link on your website is not recommended, due in part for this very reason. Colleges, Cafes, and any other "public computer" will generally not have an email client set up. If your viewers are using one of those computers and you use a mailto: link, nothing will happen for them. They will not be able to contact you via that link. Mailto: links also leave your address open for spam bot harvesters.
    It is much safer to use a form processing script on your server using a server scripting language (like PHP). My personal favorite form processor is currently Formmail from http://www.tectite.com but there are a lot of free form to email processing scripts available online to handle any contact form on your site and send the info to any email address you like.

  • Mail won't send link to webpage

    Hi. Recently I let my .mac account expire and ever since I am unable to send links to webpages using the "Mail link to this page" under File. I have an active email account but I don't know how to set up Mail to recognize it. I've played around in Mail>Preferences a bit, but nothing seems to help. Mail still wants to use my .mac account but can't, since it is inactive. How do I get Mail to switch from my .mac account to my current email account?

    Without using the Safari Mail Contents of This Page option, were you able to send messages with your ISP's email account before your .Mac account expired?
    Since your .Mac account has expired, why not delete the account from the Mail.app?
    If you need to save any messages received or sent by the account, transfer the messages to a user created "On My Mac" location mailbox or mailboxes first. Deleting an account in Mail also deletes the accounts' mailboxes.
    In addition, go to Mail > Preferences > Composing and under Addressing at Send New Mail From, select your ISP's email account.
    If you have never been able to send messages with your ISP's email account and SMTP server with the Mail.app, you need to contact your ISP to confirm the account settings.

  • Problem with email links

    Hi all -
    I am using RoboHelp v7. I inherited my KB's already set up, but have been maintaining them for a couple of years now. However, we moved from Outlook to Google mail, and users are no longer able to send email from Robo. Note that I am able to send email from any other webpage using my corporate gmail account, having set up my mailto to utilize gmail.
    I have email addresses in my KB's in two formats, and tried a third based on a post I read.
    A regular mail to - where I've simply created a link to an email address, such as - "please contact the ECCN Reviewers via email to Eccn   PCM-PCMECCN."
    with the link set as - mailto:[email protected]
    A script that was created by the original owner, which contains one line - this always worked previously
    document.write("<a href=\"mailto:[email protected]?subject=" + "Change request for '"+ document.title + "' page of the MotoPDM Help System\">MotoPDM Help Admin</a>");
    I read Peter's Snippet #38 - Email this topic - and created a new snippet based on what he had - this didn't work either
    <p><script type="text/javascript">
    var mailSubject = 'Useful Information';
    var mailBody    = 'This page might help: ' + location.href;
    var mailDisplay = 'Click here for a demo.';
    document.write(
        '<a href="mailto:[email protected]'
        + '?subject=' + escape(mailSubject)
        + '&body=' + escape(mailBody)
        + '">' + mailDisplay + '</a>'
        );</script></p>
    In all three examples above, when I click on an email link, the main page of the KB goes blank, and nothing happens.
    If I click on a normal webpage link (such as http://www.swingandblues.com/about.html, Greg Avakian - "[email protected]", I generate an email without issue.
    I'd appreciate any assistance, I have no idea where to go next.
    Thank you,
    Anahid Avakian

    Hi William -
    Sorry for delay - we are working on a release and that took precedence over everything else for a few days... first - thank you for all your assistance. I do have an issue, but I'm sure it's me doing something wrong. I'm getting a run time error...
    This is my original script:
    document.write("<a href=\"mailto:[email protected]?subject=" + document.title + " section of the PDM1 KB\">[email protected]</a>");
    So I replace it with your Java Script, and yes - I still have the red box in the WYSIWYG page
    +d++ocument.write('<a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="Mailto(\''+document.title+'\')" >youremail</a>');+
    The HTML looks like this:
    Problem with this page? Click here: <script>+d++ocument.write('<a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="Mailto(\''+document.title+'\')" >@[email protected]</a>');+</script>
    to provide feedback</p>
    When I preview it, I get this error:
    A Runtime Error has occurred. Do you wish to Debug?
    Line 33 Error: Expected ';'
    If I publish, I just get a plus sign for the email -
    Then, if I add the additional info in the HTML page just before script, I get this error when previewing (after saving) - Line 35 Error: Syntax Error and Line 40 Error: Syntax Error:
    Problem with this page? Click here:
    +<script type="text/javascript">+
    +function Mailto(subject) {+
    +     var HTML = 'mailto:mailto:[email protected]?subject='+subject+'+ section of the PDM1 KB';
    +window.open(HTML,'Email');+
    +}
    +
    +</script>+
    <script>+d++ocument.write('<a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="Mailto(\''+document.title+'\')" >@[email protected]</a>');+</script>
    to provide feedback</p>
    My WYSIWYG page does have two red boxes, but they both have plus signs in front of them (which is different than it was with my original script). And if I publish, I just get two plusses:
    Any suggestion?
    Thank you,
    Anahid

  • EMail Link in SWF exported from InD CS5 does not work

    I'm trying to find a definitive answer on this. I have designed an interactive document in InD CS5 that has buttons and hyperlinks. When exported to SWF everything works except my e-mail hyperlink. It works fine in InDesign's preview pane. I've uploaded the file to my webserver for testing, the problem still occurs.
    I found one post in another forum that quoted an Adobe InD developer stating that as of CS4 email links were not exported. However, I've not been able to find any mention of whether this works in CS5 or not.
    Does anybody know for sure whether or not email links work in SWF files exported from CS5?

    Sorry, no offense was intended. I had found references to problems with CS4, but nothing about CS5, and said as much in my post -- was frustrated that I had spent a long time looking and hadn't found any responses yet.
    You mentioned using buttons rather than hyperlinks, and that worked for me -- but it might have just been a problem with my browser not properly reloading the flash file, too -- as I mentioned in my response.
    But in any case, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUGGESTION!
