Email messages marked as READ on my Exchange server

Hi,
My email account is retrieving my messages from my work's exchange server. When I read them on my BB they are marked as read on the server. I have missed metings and deadlines. I would like to enable that my messages on the server remain unread even if I view them on my BB. How do I do that?
Thanks.

  • Emails being marked as read on Z10

I have a major issue on my blackberry Z10. emails are marked as read even though i have not read them.
I have seen another post where users have an issue with mails being downloaded on Outlook. I thought my issue was similar and hence spent an entire day without launching outlook. nevertheless emails continue to be marked as read.
if i have received 10 emails, i go into 1 to read it, but when i come back into the hub, the other 9 emails are marked as read as well.
however, once i re-mark the emails as unread they stay marked unread. but this has to be done manually.
nonetheless, this is a very frustrating process for someone who uses unread emails as a tool to follow-up on tasks.
BTW: i am using version 10.0.10.82 now and have regularly updated the OS, but faced the same issue for 3 months.

    Hey kabsl,
    Thanks for the post.
What type of email account is attached to your BlackBerry Z10? (POP3, IMAP, Exchange).  Also have you tried removing and re-adding the email account to test?
Is this email account only setup on one computer or several computer?
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.

  • All incoming emails being marked as 'read' on my Droid x

All incoming emails to my pop3 or imap accounts are being automatically marked as 'Read'.
    Any fix for this issue?
If I have outlook open, which is running exchange client  Outlook 2007, and my Droid is running imap or pop3, messages being delivered are being displayed as READ.
I have tried closing outlook, and then downloading emails to my droid without reading any of the 80 unread emails - then turning off my Droid....Followed by opening Outlook, but the messages show up in outlook as being READ.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you installed any apps that auto display the emails when they come in? If so the auto read feature may be triggering this, I had a app at one time that showed my emails in the preview window and it made the emails be listed as read... I would check your apps and make sure you are not using something like this unknowingly.

  • Message marked as read

Hi! I just purchased a Blackberry Curve 9300.. I sent an email (I have a yahoo account) using my blackberry to a friend on her Yahoo Mail address. I asked her to check whether she got my email  and she said yes, although she did not open the email. The next time she opens her mail, my message was already marked as "Read". Could this be a problem with my device?? Or her address?? Thanks much

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
From what you describe, there is no impact of the BB. The BB simply sent the email...whatever happened after that is completely out of the control of the BB and all of it's services. Something on her end must have happened to change the read status indicator of the message.
    Good luck!

  • Why are my emails being marked as read automatically?

I recently changed from iPhone 4 to 5; I never experienced any email issues with the iphone4. Now my emails on iphone5 ;same account etc) are sometimes marked as read before I view them. This happens every night over night without fail, and invariable happens during the day too (although not always- I can't yet see any pattern in this). It's extremely frustrating as I could rely on looking at my lock screen on iphone4 to see my recent unread emails; and I now cannot rely on this (and there's normally nothing there as its all marked as read in my inbox, before I've seen it! Then I have to check through each message to make sure I haven't missed something).
There are no other devices running to access this inbox; it is set up on my home laptop through outlook (as it was with iphone4); but this is only switched on about once a week just to download the messages.
Please does anyone have a solution to this very frustrating issue? I did not expect that by upgrading I would be worse off!

  • Imap email incorrectly marked as read before I open them.

    HI,
My email is set up as imap on my MacBookPro. I noticed when I opened by mail yesterday that it showed I only had 1 unread email - which is greatly incorrect. Tonight when I opened mail, my new messages for today suddenly changed to read all at once, before I had opened them. I have gone through my mail preferences and can't find anything to explain it, and I had not changed anything, that I can think of. I have set up no filters or rules. I am in classic view.
The POP account on my Mac Mini is fine.
Thanks, I would appreciate any help.

Who is hosting the email server?
    Is this through your work?
Are you hosting your own email server?
Have you ever downloaded from this email server on another mobile device?
If this is an IMAP email, and if the email is being checked at another location by anyone then it would be marked as read. This could also be a setting issue on the email server itself.

  • Incoming messages marked as read

    Hi,
First I'd like to chime in with those who hate that messages are immediately marked as read.
But here is my real, related, problem; Incoming messages become marked as read in the background. That is; I send myself a message, it comes in as unread. I switch to other apps and work for a while, come back and the new message is marked as read.
Ah, I just did another test, and found that if I have entourage running also (I'm switching to Mail, have been using Entourage), when it gets the mail, it's marked as read.

I apologize for being incompetent twice in one message. I've changed my profile. Thanks for pointing it out. I observed the behavior in Mail, so that's where I thought the problem was, (and maybe still is - why should another client affect Mail?). I'm switching from Entourage to Mail, that's why I'm running simultaneously for a few weeks. I've done it many times over the years of operating systems and clients, specifically two years ago when I switched to Apple's Mail, then after finding it lacking, one year ago when I switched back to Entourage. I also often answer email using a browser when I'm not on my machine at home. So I use three methods. I suppose that's wrong too. I noticed the connection between Entourage and Mail halfway through the post, so it turned from a question into a posting that someone else might find useful if they observe the same behavior. But now I know what an idiot I am so everybody ignore this post!

  • Why are new unread messages marked as read?

These problems popped up out of the blue last week. Nothing has changed in the Mail settings. I've worked with my ISP to isolate the problem as a Mac problem, not an ISP issue.
    1. The new messages downloaded into Mail are not marked as unread, even if they they've never been opened or previewed. An occasional email will mark as unread. However, even if 5-10 new emails are downloaded at a time, they will usually all be identified as read.
The unread count doesn't change, even when new unread messages are downloaded.
    2. At the same time that the issue popped up with the unread emails, a new Mail issue started. When Mail checks for updates it often shows that a new email is being downloaded and gives the audio alert for a new mail, but nothing has actually downloaded. I've checked my filters, trash and web mail to confirm that no new emails exist.
    What I've tried:
    1. There are no software updates.
    2. Worked with ISP to identify the issue as being a Mail issue. Settings are all appropriate.
    3. Disabled Mail account, shut down Mail, shut down Mac, restarted Mac, enabled Mail. Problem continues.

This might be way off base because I do not have a really good understanding of email systems, but look at these:
    1. When you Sync your iPhone, under the "Info" tab in iTunes, do you have it set to sync your email settings? If this is not checked, your iPhone and computer Mail settings could be different and Mail could think you read a message on your iPhone when you haven't.
    2. In Settings in your iPhone, go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your Account>Account Info>make sure everything is correct here and then>Advanced> check incoming settings and see if there is anything in IMAP Path Prefix. I think this should be blank for your POP account.
Also, since this is a POP account, by definition, if you have read a message, shouldn't it be excluded from your Inbox? I'm guessing there is a IMAP vs POP conflict somewhere.

  • Why are all emails automatically marked as read?

I recently switched my wifes email account from a POP to a IMAP.  (same email address, same server, same provider)
Shortly before doing that we upgraded to Lion.
She also gets mail from this account on her iPhone.
Question:  For some reason all of her new emails are automatically marked as read. No blue dots.  This happens when a new message is recieved on either the Mac or on the iPhone.  Everything else about the email account works properly. My email accounts on the same Mac work properly. (Same user account)
Any ideas what might be causing this? Is this problem being caused in the Mail problem or is it something on the server side?
    Thanks.

    UPDATE:
I have now deleted the account from the iphone. No change in the behavior.  It's not the iphone that is causing this.
When an email is recieved it stays unread for about 20 minutes. And then it mysteriously changes all by itself to read.  I have logged into the Webmail panel for this account and the behavior is mirrored there.
    please help !!
    -Eli

  • I can't create an email account in Outlook 2013 for my exchange server

Have tried many things on this issue.
I have a new tablet PC running Windows 8. I am able to connect to my Exchange Server account using Windows 8 Mail, no problem but when I have tried to set up an account for Outlook 2013 to connect to the same Exchange Server using exactly the same login
information I cannot get it to connect. I simply get the message that the Exchange Server is unavailable.
I've been able to connect a variety of other devices to the same Exchange Server account without any problem - iPhones, Windows Phone, iPads, etc, etc all without problem. It's just this device and Outlook 2013 seems to be the issue. From checking various
forums seems this is not an isolated issue but I've not been able to find a useful solution so far. Have deleted the user profiles and .ost files, switched off caching etc, all to no avail.
One key difference between the account information required by Windows Mail and Outlook is that in the Windows Mail system I am prompted to enter my domain information. I know this is critical from the information provided to me by our network administration
team but there is nowhere in the Outlook account setup process where I can enter my domain info.
Closest I've been able to get to success is to use the manual account creation process and select the Exchange ActiveSync option - this gets me to the point where I'm prompted for my username and password info but it fails at this step because I am connected
to a local domain (the domain account for the PC) and my user name and password are not accepted. There is nowhere in this login process that I can find where I can enter the correct domain info.
Any ideas on a solution would be very much appreciated - I use Outlook extensively in my work and whilst the Windows 8 Mail system is good, it doesn't have the level of functionality I need.
    Many thanks
    Wayne.

Have managed to solve this with your help Martina regarding using the domain\username combination.
Here's the solution in detail in case anyone else is having similar problems.
From control panels - select the User Accounts and Family Safety item, then the Mail (Microsoft Outlook 2013) item and then the Email Accounts option.
Select the Email tab and click 'New... button to create a new email account
Choose the standard Email account option in the following form. (Not the 'Manual' option'
Enter your Exchange account details - no alterations necessary here. just your standard details.
As the account verification proceeds you are prompted to again enter your username and password details. In this form, instead of using the top option with your username already populated, click the lower 'Other user' option and enter your domain\username
details. This changes the domain. Enter your password as usual.
I was prompted to do this twice - same each time. Enter domain\username in the username field and usual password
    Account is then created.
Open Outlook to complete the process and synchronise data with Exchange.
Hope this is helpful to others - again, many thanks for your assistance Martina.
    Wayne.

  • Treo 800W Can't get email from desktop outlook b/c no exchange server or web-based email

Help... I used to use the "personal business connection" from Sprint before they discontinued using it last fall to get my email.  They housed it on their server by having it sink with my desktop outlook 2000 in real time, then my device (Treo 800w) would sink with their server so that I could respond to email on my treo and it would look the same in my desktop outlook as it did on my treo.  It would show messages read that i had read, and my sent treo messages would appear in my desktop outlook sent folder.  Since Sprint has discontinued "business connection-- personal", I have not been able to get my email in the same fashion.  I don't have an exchange server at work and use POP3 email but it is not a commercial service like yahoo or gmail.  I download my email to my outlook and primarily use outlook on my desktop but want to be able to use my treo to view and respond to email on the fly and have it show the messages I have already addressed in my desktop outlook.  Any ideas?  I am desperate and very frustrated that Sprint discontinued business connection.  Every application I have looked at either required an exchange server or that I house all my email on a web-based site and quit using my desktop outlook.   Thanks....

Yes, I was very bummed when Sprint discontinued BCPE.
SEVEN Networks, the company that made BCPE for Sprint, has several new products available under beta. None of them seem to offer exactly what we had with BCPE. In fact, one forum posting says that our style of usage (sync'ing directly with the data stored in the Outlook data file) was never actually a supported configuration. Anyway, you can sign up for the beta here if you want to explore the new options: http://community.seven.com/main.php
    Good luck in your search.

  • Left for vacation 5.27: firefox was accessible / returned from vacation 5.31: message on screen reads "unable to access server", "does not recognize server"

left for vacation 5.27: server was accessible / returned from vacation 5.31: message on screen now read: "does not recognize server" / this is for both internet & email access
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== i turned on my personal computer / this condition has remained for two days

I realise this doesn't help you but I have reported this exact same issue (well, the part about being unable to login to webmail from abroad anyway) for MONTHS and all I get told is 'well you SHOULD be able to login'. I am no further forward and have come to the conclusion the only way to resolve this is to change ISP/phone provider.
I had to create (and pay for) a domain with 1and1 in order to be able to send and receive e-mail while abroad, I didn't want to use Gmail or the like.
As you say, it is INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING, especially when I work for at least 6 months of the year overseas and BT just seem to ignore these posts.

  • Securing your Email from SAP with security signatures from exchange server

    Hello
I have been exploring a solution for the following requirement:
Important Emails such as HR payslips which are being generated from SAP need to be encrypted using security signatures stored at an exchange server.
I have looked at Secure email proxy but I believe that is a more standard functionality, the payslips are being generated, being converted into pdfs and are being sent as an attachment in emails, all custom coding.
Is there a way to utilize the secure email proxy feature using custom code?
Are there other ways to use the existing signatures at the exchange server. Help.sap.com also mentions a badi - SX_secure_email - would this suffice for my needs?
    Thank you

  • Do imported emails from pst files get saved to Exchange Server?

So I exported a user's email into a pst file and I'm importing all of them into his new email address.  My question is whether these newly imported emails will be only available locally or will they be uploaded into the Exchange server (which is TWC's
hosted service) and therefore he'll be able to  access them from his phone as well?  If they are not uploaded, how would I go about to making these emails available on his phone through his new email address as well then?

    Hi th0rax,
yes, if you imported mails from a PST file to the Exchange Mailbox you will be able to Access them from Outlook, OWA and ActiveSync where you habe Access to your Mailbox.
I suggest you should do that via new-mailboximportrequest (http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/ff607310(v=exchg.150).aspx) if it is a big PST file and maybe a longer
    list of users.
You can also Import via Outlook but in that case you need to have that Outlook Client running until "All Folders are up to date" and the new Mailbox Content was replicated to your Servers Mailbox after the Import was done.
    Regards,
    Martin
