Email not accessible after moving from mobileme to icloud

I moved my mobileme account to icloud. When I click "email" in iCloud, it asks me to setup an me.com email address in my iOS. When I try that in icloud settings in my iphone, it says my address is occupied. So I end of up losing access to my @me.com email access. How can I get it back?

I'm running 10.7.2 and still my iCal does not show in iCloud. System preferences>iCloud just keeps giving me the same advertising window for iCloud with a button to "Move to iCloud." This takes me to an endlessly same windo of find my phone. Argh. Help!

Welcome to the Apple community.
Your address book should have migrated along with your move. If it hasn't go to groups, in "on my mac" group select all the contacts that appear on the right-hand side and drag them to your "iCloud" group.
Once you have done this you can then delete the contacts from your "on my mac" group.

Emails not loading after moving from one Inbox to another

I was having problems with one of my Mail accounts recently (it would randomly not pull in new emails, go offline, not connect to the SMTP server etc.) and on advice create a new one. When this was up and running, I planned on moving the Inbox and Sent Items from the dusfunctional Mail account over to the new account's Inbox and Sent Items folders.
After dragging the items from the old to the new folders, I deleted the old Mail account. Before deleting the old account, I checked to make sure that the old emails were listing correctly in the new folders which they did, showing the sender's name and subject line. I however neglected to notice that the Preview text was not showing on some of the messages although it was showing on others. I also did not click on any of the messages to see if they would actually open. I just saw them listed and thought the transfer job was done.
After deleting the old Mail folder, I am now left with all of the old emails listed in my new Inbox and Sent Items folders, but when I try to open them it just says "Loading" and nothing else happens. I assume that message contents had not yet fully moved over into the new location by the time I deleted the old Mail folder....
Does anybody know if there is any way in which I might still retrieve the fiull content of the old emails? Does deleting the Mail account also delete all of its emails from my hard drive? Or are they still sitting somewhere?

Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network, Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
+Note: there is no importing involved+
The thumbs appear, but the images are added 2 or 3 times each and the events are all messed up.
This happens when you import one Library to another, which you've done by drag and drop:
Creating a black library and over writing the new with the old.
Your problem is arising because of the Network Share. iPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, saving edits and sharing the photos.

ICal does not display iCloud calendar after moving from MobileMe to iCloud

I moved MobileMe to iCloud. Everything but iCal made the move fine. My iCal app does not show iCloud nor am I able to create that as a new account. My MobileMe calendar is displayed but gets an error message that it cannot log on to my calendar because the password is wrong at MobileMe. Settings shows I am logged in to MobileMe and that it has moved to iCloud.

After I delete emails, they return (recent move from MobileMe to iCloud)

I recently moved from mobileme to icloud without difficulity. However, I've noticed after I read and delete emails, they return. I've check preferences and have verified the "store deleted messages on the server box" is unchecked as it should be.
Is anyone else having this problem/do you know how to fix it?

Well, unfortunately I don't have a single solution.
However, my apple mail account seems to have "fixed itself". I had already deleted the icloud account in apple mail preferences and set it up again (twice), but that was not the fix because it continued to save all deleted emails in the inbox.
Almost two days later I woke up one morning and started deleting emails thinking it wasn't going to work and to my supprise it did.
All I can say is if this is the only problems us three are have for the moment we've gotten off pretty easy. Just give it a little while longer and hopefully it will fix itself.
I appologize for not being much more help.

I just moved from MobileMe to iCloud and in Mail, my iCloud Inbox shows I have -1 new emails...How is this possible...It's just annoyance...How do I fix this?

Thanks for the tip...I just logged onto iCloud.com and the folders/mail are correct (compared to my laptop). This tells me the problem is on my phone. So I will try an erase/restore to see what that does!

That's where you're going wrong. Firstly the syncing method that MobileMe used, which places the icon in the menu bar, is quite different from the iCloud method and is irrelevant. Secondly, you're confusing the Time Machine icon with it.
On this Mac you need to set up in System Preferences>iCloud in the same way, then the syncing is automatic. In iCal on both machines you should see in the Calendar list your calendars listed unrer 'iCloud', and your calendars should be visible at http://icloud.com (and choose Calendar in the welcome screen).
If they aren't visible online, go to http://me.com/calendar - you should not be able to see them there. If you can, you haven't migrated.

Am a bit worried about mopving from mobileme to icloud as I dont want to lose my iweb site. Im aware that Ill have to change it by next June, but has anyone moved over and if so are your iweb sites still working in the meantime.?

To add to Ethmoid's post: it is now confirmed that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
Personally, if I didn't already have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

Moving from MobileMe to iCloud

I've just ordered the new 3rd generation iPad and I'm looking ahead to when I will be making the move from MobileMe to iCloud. I have over 5GB of emails and attachments accumulated in folders in the mail.app on my Macbook, which is too old to run OS X 10.7. Are all those old emails going to be moved to iCloud, or just new ones?

Thanks for the reply. I think you have essentially answered my question, although indirectly. The emails I was concerned about are no longer on the server, due to having been moved out of the INBOX into other folders. So, if I am understanding correctly the only mail that will get moved to iCloud will be those messages that are still on the mobileme server at the time I initiate the change to iCloud.
From that point on, all new messages (coming via the server) will be pushed to all of my iCloud-able devices (and in a diminished capacity to my Snow Leopard-bound MacBook once I set that up), and all my old messages will reside only on my MacBook.

Since moving from MobileMe to iCloud I can't seem to publish the update done on iWeb.

Does anyone know how I could figure out a way to publish my updates on iweb since moving from mobileme (the host) to icloud?

Do this:
go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
login with a bogus username and password like "Ying" and "Yang". This clears the caches.
login with your correct username and password.
launch iWeb and try again.

I moved from MobileMe to iCloud but it stopped my mail on my 3g iPhone How do I work around that until I can buy newer iPhone that runs iCloud?

When I moved my MobileMe account to iCloud on my MBP I knew my iPhone 3G was limited but I didn't think it would be cut off from the icloud services. I still have a GMail account come through on it ok but I really would like my .Mac email to work on it. I am not quite ready to upgrade to 4S (had thought to wait for 5)
any workarounds out there??

Update: I was able to get a genius appt. and they helped set it to work with Caldev etc for ical and same with mail; contacts etc.

Appointments disappear in iCal after converting from MobileMe to iCloud

We recently converted to iCloud from Mobileme after upgrading to 10.7.2 and we have lost all of our appointments, both past and future in all calendars, both on the Macs and in iCloud.
When I first converted my machine, I had duplicate and triplicate entries, then after opening iCal for the third or fourth time, all entries dispapeared. My wife experienced the same thing this morning.
Checked the "Hide" boxes and all are unticked. If we add a new appointment, it will duplicate and/or disappear.
I have an iPhone and the calendar is empty on that also. My wife's Mac does not sync with an iPhone or any other device, just iCloud.
Any clues as to what is going on?

It took over an hour and three people, including second level support, but we have an answer.
Basically there is some confusion between the meta data being held on an external server (iCloud and/or Mobile Me) and the local machine. Here's the SBS for the solution:
In System Preferences, uncheck all syncing in iCloud (pay attention to messages)
Logout of iCloud
Logout of Mobile Me
Sever the Internet connection, killing the connection to the external servers
Restore the Calendar data stored in user/library/calendar via Time Machine or other backup source
Open iCal and export all calendars to a backup location (user/documents will do)
Reconnect the Internet connection
Open System Preferences > iCloud, log back in to iCloud and re-establish syncing for all desired options, including Calendar
Open iCal and import backed up data
Check calendar for accuracy in iCal and iCloud
