Email not updating

Am having problems with my emails not updating on icloud.com as well as on my mac.
I can receive new emails on both my Iphone and my ipad, but they do not show up within the mail app on my mac or on icloud.com either.
I have tried the usual delete account from mac and reenter, but this has had no effect, and not sure how to "reset" on the icloud website.
Any ideas will be gratefully received.

Are the emails you are having issues with related to your [email protected] address.

  • Yahoo email not updating after latest ios update?

I updated my iphone 5 to the latest ios version yeaterday and ever since my yahoo email will not update unless I go into mail app and refresh it.  Is this a bug with the ios update or something with Yahoo mail?  I also have a gmail account but it seems to be working ok.  Hard to tell though as it does not get as much email.  Any help would be apprecaited.

no, you need to actually go to your settings and change it to push data rather then fetch it manually.
Settings>mail contacts and calendars>fetch new data>Push should say on.
and if it says its already on, tap it to turn it off, then tap again to turn it back on.
also, www.downrightnow.com you can see how extremely often throughout the day yahoo mail servers are down.

  • Why is my iPad 2's email not updating?

The other day I was on my iPad checking my email and nothing came in, even after I manually refreshed it multiple times,I took out my iPhone and its email was updating and had multi emails that should have come in on the iPad a long time ago, then I also checked my iPod touch, emails were updated and the same emails on the iPhone were also updated on the iPod touch.
I did not know why the iPad was not downloading/updating so I tried closing email, ending it in multitasking and re-launching it but still it did not update.
I tried disconnecting wi-fi and re-connecting but still noting happened.
then I tried turned off the iPad and then turned it back on and finally the emails came in.
On another day on a different wi-fi network the same thing happened, but rebooting did fix it.
This happened a total of 4 times on different wi-fi networks.
    Why is it doing this?
I am worried something is wrong with the iPad and I need to find out so I can bring the iPad to Apple for repair/exchange.
If someone has had this problem, what did you do?

In my email account only one device can be signed in at a time. If I run Mail and it is still Clive I cannot use safari to check my mail through webmail. The cure is to stop Mail from running when I need to access the account from another app or device. To stop Mail I double click the home button to bring up the line of recently used apps. The tap Mail and hold until it wiggles. Tap the minus sign. Then tap the Home button.
Mail will stop on its own if you move onto using another app but it takes several minutes before it actually quits.
Maybe your system has the same symptom.

  • IOS 5.1 Email not updating on certain WiFi networks

All of a sudden, all my iOS devices have stopped updating email on my school's wifi network. All other internet connections are fine (can get on safari, youtube, etc), but Mail does not update. I tried changing the port, but it just kept Verifying and wouldn't change. Unsure if there is something with iOS 5.1 (only started affecting me yesterday. I have tried rebooting my iPad, as well as re-adding the network, but nothing worked. Email still works fine on all other networks I use. Any suggestions?

It could be the network, but what surprises me is that nothing else is being blocked at all. And I can't seem to change the port that Mail is on. I tried a port scan, and it came up that that port is blocked (993), but it also came up that every other port I tried was also blocked. I used a Mac to do a Port Scan for my iPad's IP, but it wasn't detecting any open ports. So I don't know if it is an issue with the network, or perhaps with my iOS devices. The network has 802.1X security I believe (I need a username and password to login), so unsure if this would affect it at all?

  • Email not updating automatically and no alert sounds since update.

Email was updating automatically before with no problem and alerting me with each new email.  Since update I have to update manually and no alerts are coming through.  Have checked my settings and everything seems to be fine.  Any suggestions???

im not sure of a way to go in there and set it to automatically update. but i had that problem with some games and when i went to manually update them i scrolled down a little and it gave me the option to check a box to allow it to automatically update. you can check for updates in settings>about phone>system updates.

check to see if you are using the nokia messaging for their push email.
since last july, there has been many intermitten issues with the nokia messaging.
being that it is integrated and the default, if you cancel out of the TOS (terms of service), then it should let you create the email on the integrated email and then you can change the settings to auto update at certain intervals, rather then worry about the "push" email from the NM server.
this way, you have better control and do not have to worry about missing email because maybe the server is down, where you would not even know it.
Hello I have had the nokia N8 for a few months now and frustrated with connection / updating of emails.  I have set up mail account for aol.  seemed to work well initially had a sound alert on to notify when rec'd emails etc, which got annoying and I turned off.  however gradually, it seems I have to 'reboot' the phone to check emails as it stays on emails from the day before.  sometimes just turning off doesn't work and I have to delete mailbox and set up again.  There are no emails shown in the 'sent' folder which also is frustrating.   The battery life is ok if I don't use it at all.  the moment I send a couple of texts, or listen to music for 10mins the phone shortly needs recharging again.  often I am charging until lunch or when leaving work - fully charged, then use as above and by evening it needs recharging!!!! very frustrating!!

  • IMAP email - not updating back at the office

I've been using IMAP email and could always delete or move items around my folders on the iPhone and everything would be identical in Outlook. I could sit in front of outlook and see the items disappear or move as I manipulated them on the iPhone. Not the case since 2.0 update. I'm back to using expunge.exe command to process all the edits done on the iphone.
I know this was an issue in early iphones versions.. and then fixed in a later update.
I have exchange 2000 and can't use the new exchange mail.
Have I missed something? or did 2.0 revert back to the earlier problem?

  • Email not updating on iOS devices

I have my regular email account and the iCloud account set up for my iPhone and iPad. Last Wednesday the iCloud account stopped updating my emails. The other account (embarqmail) is fine, just the iCloud account.
I can't seem to find any settings have changed. It says updating, but no new emails appear. Neither my iPhone nor iPad will update the iCloud account.
How can I make sure my iCloud settings are correct?

I turned off photo sharing in iphoto and then turned it back on and that resolved the issue.

  • New apple ID email not updating on laptop

    Hi,
I changed my apple ID email on apple.com but my computer isn't recognizing the new email. When I go into the settings and hit "update apple ID email" it asks for my old email's password which doesn't work because it doesn't exist anymore. How can I fix this? I am unable to update anything on my computer because of this problem.
    Thanks!

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Apps/Email not updating?

I have the iPhone 4 with Verizon and within the past few weeks I've noticed a few of my apps and email doesn't update when I get new things on their own. In the past I would be notified whenever I got a new email and/or someone commented on something of mine in the Facebook app. But now if I want and update from one of these apps I have to open the app and click the update button to see if their is anything new. I've been having a similar issue with my G4 app within the past few weeks. The lastest news no longer appears and if I want to see it, I have to uninstall the app and then reinstall it to see what is new. Is there a setting that I might have turned off that is preventing my apps from updating?

    - Are you saying that if when you go to Settings>Store and make sure  you are signed into your account, a different Apple ID is displayed when yur purchase a new app?
    - If in iTunes and you right click on an app in your Library and select Ge Info, the iTunes account that purchased the app will be displayed in the Summary pane.

I have a  macbook, an ipad, and an iphone with the Mail app on all three synced through icloud, but when I read and delete emails on my phone, the inbox on my ipad is not update, so I have to go through and mark as read or delete messages again. How can I sync my iphone and ipad? (it seems like each is synced only to my laptop, so don't synchronize until I go home and use my laptop.

POP: yahoo, aol, comcast/time warnder/road runner
Imap: google, hotmail, and more including icloud.
If you want to use multiple devices - move to imap, I would even say "exchange", but Google does not support free exchange anymore, since January of that year. So Ironically  Icloud or Hotmail would be my choices right now.
To find out more about what happens to you, search on Google "difference between pop and imap"
