Email not working - Password wrong ?????

I have been experiencing, and not for the 1st time, email problems.
I am using Outlook 2007 to receive my emails and iphone for when Im out and about.
Both have stopped working over the weekend and now Im confused and frustrated.
On Outlook,
It asks for the password and then tells me its not correct.
I have deleted it from Outlook and re entered the set up data from the help files on BT.com
I have logged in to MY BT and changed the password.
I have the same issues on the iphone and completed the same steps.
Please could someone enlighten me, I dont want to have to make a lengthy phone call to BT......

Hi. Welcome to the forums.
It's not a password issue, despite the error message received. It's almost certainly a system problem, but giving the error of incorrect password/id. If it was the password, then you would not be able to change it without going through the security answers as a minimum.
Are all your devices trying to login to mail at the same time ?
If you Mac is working ok, are there any different settings in the account than anywhere else (e.g. iPad)? Even the slightest difference ?

    Deleted the SMTP setting
    Recreated the SMTP using the same settings
    Able to send emails now
    No logic - as usual - just a bug!

    You don't. Apps are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them. Instead of creating a new ID, change the primary email address on your existing ID.

    @Naiks, having suffered through unsuccessful synching attempts for Calendar and Contacts myself, l would suggest you try the following:
    UNINSTALL iCloud control panel from your PC. Seems silly, but do it.
    Go into Outlook, and look at the very top menu. Click FILE, then ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then click the popup box.
    You will see a list of all your email accounts. Make sure that ONE of them has a checkmark against it. If not, select the account your want as your default, and click "set as default.
    Exit out of Outlook and reboot your machine.
    Now reinstall iCloud, check CALENDAR and CONTACTS, and do as instructed when prompted.
    Reboot for good luck and now launch OUTLOOK. All that remains is to locate your iCloud Contacts and Calendar files, and make them your default.
    IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you can't find your contacts -- they're there. Click CONTACTS and you'll see you have several available contact files. Locate the one label "iCloud" in grey type. Right-click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says something like "Make this my default Outlook Address Book." Keep clicking "apply" and "okay" until you've exited out of the dialog box maze.
    You may have to do something similar with your Calendar files. I dd not, but if you need to, do it.
    Everything should now sync pretty seamlessly.
    I didn't have the exact same problem as you, but my dilemma was close enough. Good luck!

  • Sharing by email not working in PSE10

    Hi there.  I upgraded from 6 to 10 yesterday and things were going relatively smoothly until I tried to email some attachments.  I'm operating on a Windows 7 computer and was trying to share via email attachments.  I select my photos and the contact that I want to send it to and then it just goes into limbo with the little moving circle.  One time the actual message box came up, but then my attachments were too big, so I reselected some and I haven't been able to get the message box to come up again.  Just been trying to do one picture as a test, so its not a size issue at this point.  With an old computer I used to do it through Outlook, but don't have that on here as it is a work computer and we use Notes, so I was using the Adobe Mail Services option tied to an email which did get verified.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.  Amy

    Thanks for trying, but what you have suggested did not work.  Every time I try to share photos via email, the software crashes.  This is extremely frustrating.  As far as I am concerned, this software has been a huge waste of time and money.

    2. Under 'edit' menu select 'edit->preferences->Adobe Partner services'.
    3. Click on 'clear online service data'. Press 'yes' followed by 'Ok' in coming dialogs.
    4. Close and launch Organizer again.
    5. Again Under 'edit' menu select 'edit->preferences->Adobe Partner services'. Now click  on 'refresh' button. Click 'ok' in coming dialog.

    Get message - Outgoing server failed.
    Problem started last night.
    I'm in Northern California.
    Never had this problem before, dont know what to do next.

    I still can't make it work on the iPhone5 or iPad.
    I can't figure out how to switch outgoing servers on the iP5 or iPad.
    On the MBPro I can use a different outgoing server and it works.

    I had a bad experience with my gmail account. It was really slow. 15min looks to work but it won´t make it faster as push email is not supported by gmail when using nokia devices ( I have read it somewhere on a gmail mobile compatibility chart at google help pages)
    I have created an ovi mail account and it works as push email on my c6 00 (latest firmware). I have setup gmail to send a copy of all the incoming emails to my ovi account, so I have instant feedback at my phone of incoming mails.
    The bad news of this workaround is that when I reply i´m doing it from my ovi account where y erase the mails after reading as I have the original mail at gmail.
    I hope this helps someone that needs push+gmail.

    When can’t send or receive emails, can you find any related error message? Did you in SBS domain environment?

  • Email not working with wireless connection

    This has been bothering me for ages and I can't get anywhere with it. Please help.
    A good while back, entourage and mail stopped being able to send mail whilst i was on a wireless connection. They work just fine when actually plugged into the broadband modem. Why is this? Have tried changing authentication settings and port settings - but to no avail. I get various different messages.
    I just want to send an email!
    Any help much appreciated.

  • Login to yahoo email not working

    I can't login to yahoo email from my iPad. My iPhone and the computer work fine. After I type my username and password on the login screen, it acts like it is going to login but then it just goes back to the login screen. It doesn't give me any errors messages, it just doesn't login. It will, however, tell give me an error message if I type in the wrong password.

    There is no cancel button available. The small window that pop ups has three fields- one comes up with xelsysadm and the two fields or text area for Password and confirm password. There is no cancel button and trying to cancel the window does not work. Just FYI, am logging into the host after 2 months or so. It was working fine earlier. Thanks for your suggestion, any other ideas please post.

    My mother in law had adsl connected on the 15/10/2013 and as of now still has no email.I have been ringing,live chatting getting new settings from here and it is still not working? am I doing something wrong?I can't even access webmail on the bigpond website.It comes up with message technical failure.I am using outlook 2007 and thunderbird email clients.When I check mail a message comes up username and password don't match.Her internet is working fine.Please help.She is getting pretty frustrated.

    Hi, I have just changed to Iphone 5 and I noticed that my yahoo emails are not working. I cannot save the yahoo password when I set up my yahoo email accounts in Iphone 5.
    The error message says "Yahoo Server unvailable". Please try again later.
    I tried to delete the yahoo account and add in again but still not working.
    Please advise urgently.

    It's not your phone... Yahoo is having issues right now with many of their users.  I'm getting the same errors logging in from my PC.

  • Threaded Email NOT working since upgrading to Lion

    Threaded emails were working fine until I upgraded to Lion.  I have even done a fresh reinstall, enabled classic view, organize by conversation, and adjusted the view setting in the preferneces to include related messages.
    While my replies are grouped together, the other persons are group on their own and NOT bundled with mine.  I am using IMAP, NO Rules in place on the server OR on Mail.app.
    Any suggestions?

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.
