Email Notification defaulting to DROID

I've set my email notifications to SILENT multiple times but within a few days it always defaults back to DROID.  It is very annoying and I've even done a factory reset but it still happens.  Almost like its in some kind of demo mode.

Have you tried running your phone in safe mode to see if it reverts back to the Droid notification alert sound after a few days? The way to set your phone into Safe Mode is found through this link: http://bit.ly/Zd7nFH Please let us know if you notice a difference. If it does not switch, there may be a random app that is switching it back. Safe Mode disables any downloaded apps, so it is a good way to test what may be the issue.
We look forward to hearing back from you. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you cmgladden and kcb48. May you both take good care!

  • Email Notification Glitch || Motorola Droid 4; v.4.0.4 ICS || ongoing as of 17 January 2013

For the past  past week or so my Droid 4 has been repeatedly and continually (non-stop!) providing "new" Email notifications when I have none whatsoever, or only one new mail. The notification I receive is that I have hundreds of new mails when either one or no new mails have delivered to my mail account (for reference, hundreds of notifications per hour). Not only that, but when I open the new mails I cannot access the contents of the mail I have received, and there are always at least three to five duplicates of each "new" mail, sometimes more.
I have researched this issue via Google Search: Droid4, ICS and Android help communities and sites and now on this forum. I have attempted to troubleshoot to rectify the issue by disabling my Email notifications, powering down the device, powering-up again, then re-enabling my Email notifications, all to no avail. If I receive no resolution here @VerizonWireless Community, my next course of action will be to enter the same information and request for assistance w/Motorola.
In my research on this topic I did find the Motorola Droid 4; v.4.0.4 ICS rollout documentation, which was no help to me for this particular issue, but from which I did learn some neat things about that software version which I'd not previously known and which were helpful to me in other ways. That file is linked below as well as the attached .pdf file in hopes that it might be of help to others.
I would most certainly appreciate any and all help and/or suggestions from anyone here at the Verizon Community.
Thanks so much and kindest regards,

I disabled my Email alerts and enabled gmail alerts because I couldn't stand it anymore... still hope someone here can help me, though because I very much dislike using the gmail platform on my Droid4.
I'm uploading screenshots of examples of multiple instances showing of one actual new mail and of what I see when I open a new mail... which is nothing in the body of the mail.
    Multiple instances of some mails:
    Email body blank when opened:
Thanks all! I appreciate any help or suggestions anyone may be able to provide.

  • My email notification is defaulting on an old hotmail account rather than using the form submitters email address. Does anyone know the fix?

    Help

    Hi,
Email notification defaults to your account ID. If you want to change this default email, you will need to change the email (Adobe ID) of your account in "My Information" dialog under the account icon. A workaround is that you sign up a new account with your new email address and  make your new account ID a co-author of the form, then choose your new email to receive email notifications. Here is a page on how to allow others receive email notificaitons: How do I allow others to receive email notifications when responses are received?.
    Thanks,

  • Exchange 2003 Email Notifications

What's the story with not getting email notifications with the Droid X? Thsi is a very basic function and I see lots of posts regarding this issue but no resolutions.
When will this be fixed?  Touchdown  or using other third party apps is not the fix I'm looking  for

I have read that this is one of the things that might be delaying the deployment of 2.2.: there were some issues with Exchange interfacing generally, especially with Exchange 2003. I believe Motorola (perhaps working with Verizon) is doing extra testing to make sure everything works well before they release 2.2. My point here is that your concern is one of the main things addressed in 2.2, I believe. The latest reports suggest that we should have it by sometime in September if not late August.
In the meantime, enjoy the wonderful other aspect of your phone!

  • Anyone has email notification problem w/ the droid & default email app?

Just want to see if anyone/everyone out there has the same problem getting email notificaiton using default email app for gmail or any other email with all the setting enabled.   (I am not talking about gmail email app)

I just paid my Verizon bill on line but the only problem this time is that for some reason, I never received an email notification of my bill.  I just happened to stumble on my bill on line while I was reading about other information.
I always received the email notification before and I never delete emails like that.
    What's going on?
Interesting......I did receive a notification on 11/11 for my bill due 12/2. I have not received a notification for my bill due 1/1 and I received the 1/1 paper bill today. Just checked my Account Profile and found that the Bill Notifications box was not checked and I think that is the setting that controls the bill notification email (and/or SMS). I have been getting notifications each month for quite a while, so I am guessing some Verizon maintenance update caused the check to be removed. I have activated Bill Notification again so now I guess I just have to wait and see if I get one next month.
I suggest you check your account profile to see if the Bill Notifications setting has somehow been turned off.
Edit: I See you edited your post while I was writing mine.  I do not use paper-free billing so that is one difference.

  • Email notification keeps reverting to DROID sound - ever since 2.2 upgrade!!!!

Ever since the upgrade to my X, I can set the email notification for my email to any other sound and it will work great for that DAY - after which, it reverts back to that STOOPID DROID sound. It doesn't matter what I do, it always reverts back.
Man this is annoying.....is it a KNOWN issue with the OS??

The Froyo update added a new option that wasnt under 2.1 for each account...  Each account allows you to give a customs alert for each account...   Goto Messaging > Account Name > Left Menu Button > Email Settings > Notifications > Select Ringtones, this will be the primary alert for that account and all others will use the default notification...
Also remember that when you use the device as Mass Storage and using custom ringer that the ringers are stored on the SD Card so the device can not use that alert so the device usually reverts to the default alert so you wont miss a notification for new message, usually you have to restart to restore the custom alert settings.

  • How to disable Email Notifications as default?

is there a way to disable email notifications so it works the other way (I enable it on any threads I want, NOT have to keep turning it off on every thread, every time I make an edit)?

  • One Email Notification to Rule All Emails

Coming from a OG Moto Droid to Bionic so everything has been pretty thumbs up with this new phone.  I did notice what seems to be an oversite from the designers/coders.  If you sync a exchange email account and a POP email (like I do) or probably any two email accounts (except Gmail), all email (again except Gmail) gets assigned the same email notification ringtone.  This is pretty annoying on a phone that was delayed to market, and cost me $300.  Hopefully this is just an oversite by someone but I wanted to make sure I pointed this out in an official forum so that it can be fixed in future updates.
Of course if anyone has a solution I'm all ears...would love to hear two different ringtone notifications for my two different email accounts.  Right now they are all getting the "WORK EMAIL!" alert.  I just confirmed that this is an issue at the store, my OG Moto did this very easily but for some reason (while I get two different icons notifications in the status bar) the ringtone alert has been combined for all non Gmail accounts.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

BionicDroider, thanks for posting and congrats on your new device! I understand why you would want to have separate email notifications for your work and personal email accounts. This is not something that was just overlooked or a design flaw for the Bionic. This is how Android is designed. Any emails in the default email application will have the same notification sound. You can try 3rd party mail applications from the Market for other options.
This is not the way Android is designed, my ORIGINAL DROID could perform this simple (but important) function and is a total step backward.  My 4G Dual Processor Machine to Rule All Machines can't tell the difference between my email accounts?  This a totally BOGUS response and very disapointing.  This machine can do better and I expect this to be fixed.
Thanks to the other forum members for suggesting apps to fix this.  Fortunately this is an open platform so the market can correct this.

  • Auto-included link to list item not working in Workflow or email notification

I made a workflow straight from my SharePoint site--NOT from SharePoint Designer. (My computer is still running on Windows XP, so I can't download Designer until my boss upgrades me to a newer system.) When creating the workflow, you have the option to include
a link to the list item by clicking a checkbox. The links don't work in either the email notification or in the workflow properties. Extra characters are being added for some weird reason. (For example, the correct link looks like "https://www.w14b.comcast.net/sites/<yada
yada>.docx" and the links in the workflow and email look like "http://www.w14spw-po-b1.com/sites/<yada yada>.docx")  I see no place to edit the URL. How do I fix the links???

    Hi,
Please check if the http://www.w14spw-po-b1.com/sites/ is the url of default zone of the web application where this site resides.

  • Text vs Email Notification

Is there anyway to have a separate ringtone for text messages and email notifications and if so how do I set this up.
    Regards,
    John

    Hi John -
Yes, it is quite possible to do this.
By default the phone uses a single "notification" sound that is set by clicking Menu -> Settings -> Sounds -> Notification Ringtone.
If you open the text messaging application, and click Menu -> Messaging Settings -> Select Ringtone you can specify an "override" of the default notification sound.
Additionally, if you start the email application and click Menu -> Email Settings -> Notifications -> Select Ringtone you can specify an "override" of the default notification sound.

  • ICAL Email notification, stuck on communication with email server

    Hi,
I know there is a ton of of these iCAL issues...
I was able to get by some initial issues and now am stuck at the email notifications not able to send.
Sending updates to an external address starts this chain of attempts to contact the mail server to send out the update. It repeats the following two segments repeatedly.
    My cal error log shows:
    2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [-] [caldav_task] 2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [-] [calendarserver.sidecar.task#debug] Checking for tasks
    2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [-] [mailgateway] 2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [IMAP4DownloadProtocol,client] [twistedcaldav.mail.IMAP4DownloadFactory#debug] IMAP factory connection lost
    2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [-] [mailgateway] 2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [IMAP4DownloadProtocol,client] [twistedcaldav.mail.IMAP4DownloadFactory#debug] Scheduling next IMAP4 poll
    My mail access log shows:
    Sep 19 16:48:52 beta dovecot[3149]: pop3-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=<iCAL Server IP>, lip=<Mail Server IP>
    Sep 19 16:48:52 beta dovecot[3149]: auth(default): new auth connection: pid=20637
    Sep 19 16:53:42 beta dovecot[3149]: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=<iCAL Server IP>, lip=<Mail Server IP>
    Sep 19 16:53:42 beta dovecot[3149]: auth(default): new auth connection: pid=20639
The attempts to send notifications do not reach the SMTP.
My settings are correct in the notification settings (I created in OD and confirmed POP/IMAP/SMTP settings with mail clients), both POP/or IMAP (either don't work at this point) and SMTP are using SSL.
The keychains com.apple.servermgr_calendar and .invitations both list the same system account with the password populated. The only difference is that .invitations carries the FQDN after the username ([email protected])
I had seen with the default com.apple.calendarserver, it did more or less the same thing...
From what I could research, the "(no auth attempts)" seems to suggest the gateway or mail server is not accepting the method or has all methods of authentication closed... However this shouldn't be the case, both mail server and ical have SSL use set in their respective settings...
*(I understand that caldavd.plist has the option to hold a plain text password... however this is not currently in my caldavd.plist and I do not wish to use it. My mail server is set to only work with MD5 however... Issue perhaps?
Any advice so I can catch up to where everyone else is stuck at would be pretty cool!

I attempted to use com.apple.calendarserver again, but it does not authenticate at all on the mail server.
Both my created and the com.apple. seem to be stuck in only being able to authenticate in PLAIN. I have given in on this and enabled the PLAIN authentication. From here the server log said com.apple.calendarserver had the wrong authentication. I don't see how this can be the case... (the mail server is a OD replica itself)
So I went into WGM and merely re-pasted in what I had recorded onto the local account. The WGM goes on and on about how this com.apple.calendarserver is only a local account, but I don't see any way to make an OD account (I'm not sure if this is even critical) anyway so I'll leave it be.
So now both email and normal across-OD invitations function.
On invitation replies however I get this message in the mail access log:
    deliver(com.apple.calendarserver): Sep 26 02:54:12 Info: msgid=<[email protected]l.outsi dedomain.com>: saved mail to INBOX
    Sep 26 02:54:12 beta push_notify[2709]: error: <iq id='10003' to='[email protected]/push_notify' type='error' from='pubsub.beta.mydomain.com' xmlns='jabber:client'><pubsub xmlns='http://jabber.org/protocol/pubsub'><publish node='/Public/IMAP/beta.mydomain.com/portnum/Mailbox/C8BA4F7E-6E65-4C97-8BCC-BC 3D28FAFE4B'><item><plistfrag xmlns='plist-apple'/></item></publish></pubsub><error type='cancel' code='404'><remote-server-not-found xmlns='urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:xmpp-stanzas'/></error></iq>
Otherwise it seems the SMTP sees the invitation reply and regurgitates back to the com.apple.calendarserver mail... What happens to it from there is a mystery.

  • How to enable email notification in OIM 11g

    Hello,
I am currently working in a stock 11.1.1.3.0 environment, and am trying to enable email notifications when a user requests to be provisioned to AD.
The default approver is Xelsysadm, and I have put my email address in this account's slot. However, I'm not receiving any emails during the request process.
How do I enable emails to be sent to the approvers?
    Thanks!

    try below
    1. set the value of system property RequestNotificationLevel=1 (1=enable, 0=disable) bydefault it is 0
    2. create An IT resource of name "Email Server" and type "Mail Server" must be configured for sending notifications
    3. provide the server detail(IP address will be enough) in above it resource
there are the default request template "Request Creation" which will trigger in this scenario.

    b. Click Add.
The selected subject attribute is added to the Selected Subjects for  E-Mail list.

Step 2 Click Up or Down to rearrange the  order of the selected e-mail subject attributes.
Step 3 Click Apply to save the customized e-mail  subject attributes.
Note: Other than this you will not be able to customize any thing, User-defined fied option will not work.
    I hope this will help

  • OIM 11g - email notification

    Dear All,
I need to create quick POC that will involve provisioning to multiple resources during OIM profile creation. One consolidated e-mail notification should be sent as a result.
    1. I never used simulated/fake/manual resource. If you used it in the past maybe you can guide me through as for how to create it?
    2. How to make sure that centralized e-mail is sent at the end (all resources are provisioned)?
I was planning to create default role or use ALL USERS role that will be attached to access policies for different resources. When HR record comes, OIM user profile is created and default role (ALL USERS, for example) is assigned.
This role will trigger execution of access policies that will create accounts on the target platforms.
    My challenges are:
    1) ONE consolidated email notification upon SUCCESSFUL completion (default event that somehow should be triggered maybe by job?, custom task that sets the flag in custom table upon successful completion? or maybe I overengineering .....)
    2) send user to manual queue if creation of the user account on any of the target resources fail.
If you can provide any guidance as for how this could be done I would appreciate it very much
    Thank you for your time

    1. The process is outlined here: http://iamreflections.blogspot.com/2010/08/oim-howto-leverage-standard-connector.html
    2. There are two parts to this question.
The first part is to figure out the triggering event. If you know what resource will be last provisioned you can simply put a task that is fired on completion of the final provisioning task that then checks the result of all other resources using the APIs. If you don't know which resource will be last you could let the final provisioning task in each resource have a follow up task that sets a variable on the user form, then have another folllow up task that checks if all values are set and if so do the appropriate thing (if not just exit)
Traditionally you would assign a task to the sysadmin using the API if you wanted a manual intervention (http://otndnld.oracle.co.jp/document/products/id_mgmt/idm_904/doc_cd/javadocs/operations/Thor/API/Operations/tcProvisioningOperationsIntf.html#reassignTasksToUser(long[], long)) but there is the new concept of queues that I actually haven't worked with (http://otndnld.oracle.co.jp/document/products/id_mgmt/idm_904/doc_cd/javadocs/operations/Thor/API/Operations/tcQueueOperationsIntf.html) that may be what you are looking for.
Email sending tends to be easier using Javamail than trying to leverage the email framework once you want something that isn't very basic.
    Hope this helps
    /Martin
