Email notification icon won't disappear

Dear Nokia Team,
I use my 5800XM to read my emails on my Gogglemail-Account via Mail for Exchange.
I got the common problem, that the "new mail"-notification icon on the top-right corner of the screen won't disappear, although all emails ar marked as read and my mail-inbox doesn't count more then 100 mails.
This thread says, that the only way around this issue is to hard reset the phone. I did a hard reset on my phone an everything seemed to work just fine, but the issue returned after a few days.
This bug is really annoying - please help me!
Regards,
Ch.

    PlayBook OS version?
    BBM version?
    bridge version?
please list so it can help others
I currently dont have the issue but am up to date on all the above.
To get BBMessenger on the PlayBook, you need 3 things:
Bridge update (1.0.0.83, I recomend 1.0.0.93 which is latest)
PlayBook OS 1.0.3 or higher (best to get the latest version of PlayBook OS.) current is 1.0.5.2342
BBM update (5.0.3.22) available on App World via your smartphone.
Links for Bridge if your carrier blocks it in app world.

  • Spaces Icon won't disappear

Another random issue I have been having is that every now and then is with spaces. When navigating between spaces, the 4 window icon comes in the middle of the screen to indicate which space I am in, however occasionally this does not disappear, so I am stuck with the spaces icon in the middle of the screen. This is annoying especially when watching something, any idea why this maybe happening? how can i stop it?

I have no idea why this happens. I have had it from time to time for a couple of months. I have found that I can get rid of it for a while by restarting or just logging out and in again.
I also note that it does not occur if I change spaces by choosing the one I want in the Spaces icon in the menu bar, but I like to just use keystrokes.
I really like to use spaces (nine of them), but find the persistent icon a real problem, and never know how many hours or days until it shows up again.
Does not seem to be a common problem judging by how hard I had to look for the topic here.

  • 8330 call forwarding icon won't disappear

I have a 8330 and I cannot get the call forwarding icon to disappear. Last week I had to forward my number to my office number. I then got a new phone number on this curve. I can make and receive call normally. But the call forwarding icon is still on the top of the screen. When I go into the call forwarding menu it shows calls being forwarded to my office. If I try to change that to "do not forward" the phone tries to make a call but I get the "Your call cannot be completed as dialed". I have also tried to change the call forward number but same result as above. Anyone have any ideas?!?!?

  • I have a new email notification that won't go away, (Exchange), though I do not have a new email. How do i resolve this?

I have a notification for my Exchange account saying I have a new email. Though, I don't and there are no unread emails in that account. How do I get rid of this? Any ideas?

Try tapping Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > your Exchange account > turn Mail off and see if the badge goes away. Then turn Mail back on for the Exchange account.
If that doesn't do it, you can try restarting or restoring the iPhone.

  • Email Account Icon won't go away

I have three email accounts set up on my 8330.  I am no longer using one of them, so I deleted it using the email account setup application on the device, as well as going online to my Sprint BlackBerry account and deleting it there.  The icon is still appearing on my device, and for some reason, is now the default account for sending emails.  Since the account has, in fact, been deleted, emails don't actually go through from this account.  It's a huge pain to keep remembering to change the account I send emails from.  On a side note - I have also changed my settings to use a different account as my default account - it doesn't make a difference.  The settings are right when I check them, but when I test them, the old (deleted) account is still the default.  What am I missing??  How can I get rid of this account once and for all?  I really don't want to wipe my device and start over...  Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Email notification icon

I have an icon on my screen indicating that I have an email message.  I've cleared all my email messages and searched in all of the other folders (thinking there was a stray voicemail, missed call message etc.) but there is nothing in any of the folders.  Why does this icon stay on my screen?  How do I find out why it is there?  I've used my BB for some time now and have never had this problem.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Tips for clearing that unread message... try them in order.
If you have a rogue New Message icon on your Homescreen, or a negative count (-1), any one of these solutions could clear it, or reset it to zero:
    Try these options:
    * Open your main Messages folder and highlight today's date, click the menu key and select Mark Prior Opened.
    * Hard Reset the BlackBerry by holding ALT, CAP (right Shift key), and DEL (or with the BlackBerry powered ON, remove the battery and reinserting the battery)
    * View Messages > Saved Messages
    * View Messages > View Folders, check each folder (missed calls, SMS in and out boxes, MMS in and out boxes, Saved, browser, phone logs etc)
    * Scroll to top of message folder, over the date heading, click or press menu to MARK PRIOR OPEN
    * Change your theme and see if it persists, and change back to your desired theme. (Options > Theme > select.)
    * Connect to Desktop Manager > Backup/Restore > Advanced. On the right-hand pane is the list of data on your device. Scroll to the email messages database and highlight it, then below, select CLEAR. This will clear your device of all messages.
    * Wipe and reload your OS.

  • VIP unread icons won't disappear

This is getting ridicolous. I already spotted several discussions over this problem.
To summarize, when I access iCloud Mail web service (icloud.com), in the VIP section on the left I constantly see unread badges showing random numbers (unread emails) on random VIP addresses I set up. There is no link whatsover with the read/unread status of actual emails. These numbers are random and keep showing no matter what action is performed: I already tried to mark as UNREAD these messages and then open it in the iCloud web service; I tried to revoke VIP status from the affected addresses, to then reassign it with no success.
I tried every combination of READ/UNREAD between iPhone and iCloud website, but nothing changes.
I really love iCloud and I finally migrated from GMail, setting up all the service through Apple cloud apps. But I find this quite ridicolous, since it's a persistent and irritating bug. And, above all, completely ignored. I see people saying that out of nowhere got their account "bonified". I still haven't.
I hope to see this issue solved, too much time having to deal with this issues.
    Thanks,
    Andrea

I think this might fix it...
Might give a try with Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.

  • Email notification icon on taskbar

I'm fairly certain I already know the answer to this, but I'll ask anyway. Is there an app that will put email, IM and missed call symbols on the taskbar? I have not seen anything at the app store, but the internet is full of jailbreaker software that does exactly that.
My concern is, does jailbreaking the iPhone (4s) kill the warranty? Do I have to do that in order to get the phone to do what fundamentally should be a given?
    Are there any other options?
    Thanks

Nothing for the task bar other than jailbreak apps. Yes, it voids your warranty.

  • DNA ICON WON'T DISAPPEAR FROM STARTUP

I just used dna personality migration to back up a user's settings. Now
the dna icon appears in startup right after zen client loads. It loads
even though I have logged in workstation only. Clearing it out of the
user profile startup doesn't work. I don't want to give the laptop back
with this icon loading on the desktop.

  • Mail Icon won't disappear

My Blackberry Tour has been displaying the mail icon for the past few days, but I have no new mail.  How do I get this to go away?

    Hello,
    You can try this:
    Homescreen > Messages > > Search
Set as follows (may vary depending on your device OS level):
    Search Type: Local
    Name In: Any Address Field
    Subject Message: <leave blank>
    Include Encrypted Messages: Yes
    Service: All Services
    Folder: All Folders
    Show: Unopened Only
    Type: All
That should return to you all unopened messages from all message conduits.
Good luck and let us know!

  • "Waiting" icon won't disappear

    Hi all,
I tried to download Line2, but had trouble and give up. I then noticed the "waiting" icon had already appeared.
The crazy thing is that not only can't I delete the "waiting" icon when I hold my finger down on it for a couple seconds, but also the the "waiting" icon appears on my iTunes Applications tab and I can't delete it from there.
Any suggestions as to how to get ride of it?

That is a new one on me, however here is a link to troubleshooting apps in the App Store. If you scroll down, you can see a link to report problems. They may be able to help you out on that. I cannot give you any further information, I don't know anything else to do. Sorry.

  • .Mac icon won't disappear in iMac?

Hi Folks, I will post this also in the .Mac forum but perhaps somebody here can provide help also. I tested .Mac and will not be subscribing. Unfortunately, the .Mac server icon -- the iDisk, is permanently on my desktop and I can't remove it by dragging it to the trash can. Any particular trick to getting rid of it?
    Thanks,

Thanks! You know, I had tried that and kept getting the error messages about how I don't have an account any longer, etc. The actual trick is to remove your name and password from the main .Mac window under System Preferences. Once I erased the name and password (even though I no longer use it and nothing was working) it took the iDisk off the desktop. Voila!
    Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Logman has suggested some great advice.
Here is a very thorough way to search for unopened messages.
From the main message queue do a search:
    service=ALL SERVICES
    folder: ALL FOLDERS
    show: ONLY UNREAD
    type=ALL
    Thanks,
