Email Notification Nokia E6

Ls,
I am using the new Nokia E6 in The Netherlands. I discovered that the notification light is hardly to be seen, but this is already being discussed in another topic.
But next to this, when receiving a new message on Gmail or my Imap email. The notification light doesn't pop up at all. Also I do not see any notification on the notification bar on the left bottom, where you can see missed calls and messages. So this means I have to use the email widget and have to light my screen on to see the unread email messages.
Can this please be fixed. I am really frustrated about this issues. This is the reason Why I bought this phone after my Nokia E72, but a touchscreen nor Symbian Anna cannot make up for this.
Last but not least I noticed that the notification does not work when receiving a WhatsApp message. This worked just fine on my Nokia E71 and E72. I do know this is an issue for WhatsApp, but I guess Nokia should work together with them to fix this. If whatsapp didn't work on the Nokia. Never in my life I would buy a Nokia, eventhough the quality of the phones is perfect.
Thanks!

Dear Nokia,
I am choosing my handsets wisely, reading a lot of reviews and user experiences before buying one in order to find the one that just fits my need perfectly. In a handset I use everyday I look for good build quality, software stability, good battery time, and a few important apps (Email, Maps, Whatsapp). You serve 95% of this wishes perfectly and I loved my phones. I even came back to you after a short liaison with Android that didn't went brilliantly.
So, what have I done to you that you make me feel so stupid having done the investment in a Nokia handset? Glitches and small problems are not limited to Nokia, but we are stumbling across the most annoying small problems on an otherwise good phones, and you never seem to to care about them! All it would take is this little extra commitment after releasing a handset to make in perfect. My Nokia C5-00 was a perfect phone and it lasted days without charging, until it started dropping to 0 overnight frequently, all you did was reinstalling the FW and it never got the problem solved. My Nokia E72 was probably the best of them all, unfortunately it started to show its age, nothing wrong with that. The obvious update for a E72 enthusiast was the E6-00. But what where you thinking when you released a high end E series handset with a broken notification light and no notification for E-Mail?
I got the new keymat to solve the notification light problem. Please help me feel less of an idiot by doing me the favor and getting E-Mail notification for the E6-00 to work.
Yours sincerley,
an unappreciated customer
P.S.: On the side, please stop ditching good and valid operating systems

  • OMA E-mail Notification - nokia 5800 - nokia email...

    hi,
i have a problem using the e-mail notification from the automatic retrieval options for Nokia 5800. Again, it is not auto retrieval for messages or headers. It is a notification that it suppose to appear to my phone telling me "you've got mail" That does not happen even when i have new e-mails in my mailbox. Can any body help me? When i retrieve the messages, it ok, i receive them, but that s not the point. Maybe it is a gsm network provider issue? I use Vodafone in Romania.
Or, if this doesn't work, the Nokia Email software will be available for Nokia 5800 or already is?
    thanks

i had the same problem. The thing is, the email notifications do not seem to do anything (?) . The solution is to activate e-mail recovery (for example every five minutes), this way you'll get the notifications of new e-mails. But the problem is that then it starts to download all the messages in your inbox (when it is enabled, you cant choose how many emails you want to retrieve from your mailbox). I use that for gmail (i only have about 200 mails -it works fine) but for my hotmail inbox it downloads the 2000 messages headers (only headers !) and the phone gets really really slow every time i open that mailbox (in messaging app).

If you pull the battery out and reinsert it the external display should start working. It helps to update the phone software you can download it from you service providers web site.

  • Nokia 5230 Email notification setup

    Hi,
I have the Nokia 5230 and it seems to keep asking me to setup my email. I have the email setup already; but it sporadically keeps requesting that it have access/user rights to setup the email. How can I fix this issue and cancel the notifications?
    Thanks

    Hello,
I have a Nokia 5230 with some technical problems. I would appreciate help and advice to solve the problems. They are:
    1. Email setup
When I first bought the phone I setup my email on Nokia 5230 successfully in July 2010. Nevertheless, at that time I deleted it after that. Later I installed Kaspersky Mobile Security trial version on my Nokia.
Then in Oct 2010, I tried to setup my email again, and till today, it doesn't work. I went to setup wizard, email setup, and email, put in my email address and password, but it is never successful in setting up the email on my front page. I have since deleted Kaspersky Mobile Security, but the email setup still does not work. How do I get it to work?
    2. How to use voice command
I would appreciate some advice how to set up voice command on my Nokia so that for example,  I can just use my voice to say a name on the contact list and it will automatically call that person.
I would also like to setup the voice command so that I can use my voice and say Menu, and the menu will pop up. Any help in this will be much appreciated.
    3. Sim card memory is always full
I do not know why the Sim card memory is full sign always blinks on the top right hand corner of my Nokia. How do I clear the memory in my Sim card? I have deleted most of my contacts saved on the Sim card memory, but the signal still blinks.
    Thank you.

  • Facebook Notifications and email notifications on ...

    Hi
Is that possible Facebook Notifications and email notifications on sleeping screen nokia 808 like it had on N9..
On my 808 it shows only msgs and miscalls....any fix??
    Thanks

not possible unless the app supports that behaviour. but email notifications and on notification lights has been broken on Symbian for a while, and as Symbian is in maintenance mode, is unlikely to see a fix, possibly ever.

    Hi Kobayashi,
The ability to monitor more than 1 mailbox is not currently provided on the N86, useful though it would be as I have 3 mailboxes configured on my handset.
At present, the only way that you know that mail has arrived in an unmonitored mailbox is if the monitored mailbox total is 0 but the new mail icon "Envelope & @" is displayed at the top of the screen.
    Cheers,

  • Unwanted 'New Email' notification on home screen

Havin read some of the posts on this board concerning email notification messages, i went to
menu-tools-settings-general-personalisation-homescreen-mode settings-homescreen applications-enabledapplications, and unticked both email1 and email2 notifications, and yet I still get the message every time I recieve an email on the mail for exchange.
    any suggestions?
also it does seem pretty absurd the setttings are buried away in these menus to such an extent you have to look it up online to sort the navigation...

I agree with you. The Nokia Messaging gives you the push mail, but the notification on the phone is poor. You have to open the Nokia Mail app on the 5800 to see the message. Without V30 if new mail arrives and you miss the beep there is no indication from the home screen of new mail.
Even with V30 unfortunately you can only see the most recent email that has arrived on the home screen- and for some reason it still shows it as unopened once you've read it i.e. the closed envelope rather then opened.
FYI- you can turn the email notification on the home screen off.
I'm still amazed that there isn't a unified app that brings SMS, Mail, Chat etc all into the same window. So you only have to check in one place for incoming communication. Maybe there's a third party solution out there??
Maybe one of the other Nokia phones has this, E72?

  • Email notification on home screen on iPad Air

On the home screen on my IPad Air should the number of new emails display? At present I have to go into my mailbox to check if I have any new emails. It would be nice if I was notified from the home screen. Thank you.

  • 5800 XM lost the email notification

No reason for that: one day it just disappeared, leaving a blank line between the 2 black horizontal separator. I'm running the app with a red @ as icon, which was proposed by the device once started up.
Please don't tell me to update the software, set the notification as visible, doing a hard reset, as I already did it all this stuff.
I read somewhere to delete the file C:\private\10202be9\persist which can be found by using X-plore. Again: I did install it, but that folder named private is not shown (shall I think that there isn't any?).
Does anyone reckon that this issue may be fixable?

Not sure if this helps but you selecting Email Notification in Nokia Messaging, or in the Home Screen settings? If you're using the Contacts Bar home screen theme, there's an option in Settings->Personal->Home screen->Email Notification, give that a shot?

  • N8 - Can you disable email notification sound

Hi all, Had this phone for about 3 days & its sending me insane.  It gives me a loud beep every time I get an email, usually 4 -5 times through the night.  ( My wife, alias "why did'nt you get an Iphone like mine") is not impresed.  When I go into main menu settings, I can press about 3 to 4 differents icons eg - settings > phone>voice commands > settings & then it goes in voice mode & I can't do a thing with it.  How can I get rid of voice commands & turn off my email notification,
    Thanks Rob

I realise that you have 'accepted' a solution to your problem but I would like to suggest an alternative.
There is a Free application on Ovi suite called Nokia Situations.  This allows you to set up different profiles for different situations.
I have a profile that I called Night Time which I have set Nokia Situations to activate at 11pm and deactivate at 8am.  In this profile I have turned all sounds off apart from allowing the phone to ring if a member of my family calls.  I also get it to turn off Bluetooth during the Night Time profile and other battery saving things.  Nokia situations is very comprehensive and I guess I only use a small percentage of its features but I think it is superb.
I used to have to remember to switch to Night Time profile late at night and then back to General in the morning.  Now, it is all automatic.
    Hope this helps.

  • Asha 300 - Email Notification

    I have an Asha 300 on O2.
It has 2 email accounts set on it, gmail and btinternet, both of which are sending and receiving.
Settings are for new email notifications to be received between 0700-2200hrs.
How do these notifications appear ?
Do i need to set the home page to show anything such as notifications or mail ?
I am not getting any notifications at all.
    Thank you
    Mat

Spent an hour at the O2 store today.
Give the staff their due, they did everything they could think of.
That said it was only things that i have previously done.
    In summary
Emails from my two accounts are being pushed to the email facility on the phone, without delay.
Despite all the settings being put in place for new email notification on the home screen, it isn't happening.
This is clearly an issue with the firmware of the phone.
Worryingly, this is known and NOKIA "seem" to be doing nothing, not even acknowledgeing the fact.
As the user manual clearly states that this is a facility, are NOKIA in breach of contract ?
The sale of goods act clearly points in that direction, but the contract is with the phone provider ie the O2 shop.
I had my NOKIA 6230i for a hassle free 7 years ................ wishing i had not changed, as this was the only facility i really wanted in the new phone.
Can i also say thanks to those who replied to this post, and the private messages i sent.
    Mat

  • E7-00 activating email notifications for one speci...

My personal email has been setup through the built-in email client, and my corporate email through Notes Traveler. I'm running S^3 Anna, with Traveler 8.5.3.
What I want to do is to just receive notifications for new emails on my personal email account, and deactivate the notifications from emails arriving to Traveler. This is something that worked in the past with my old E71-2, where I could select which email account could notify me, and it worked perfectly for me due to the deluge of work related emails.
On the E71 device I had the Nokia email app for my personal email instead of using the built-in email client. This app appears that is no longer available to download, so I had to use the built-in email client that comes with the E7-00.
I've looked everywhere on the phone, and appears that there is only two choices:
    a) Disable email notifications for all email accounts
    b) Enable notifications for all accounts.
If anyone has any idea how to selectively configure email notifications in a E7 the way it was able to do in my E71, I would greatly appreciate it.

e7 does NOT have email notifications. You just have to place the pers acc widget on the homescreen. E7 does NOT have options to configure def acc either. Push works on LT & MFE but NM push does NOT either. Anna makes all these things worse. Good luck.

  • C3-01 - Email Notification

    Hi,
I have been using C3-01 for 2 months. It"s fine. But I'm disapointed too, because I couldn't find to set up the email notification.
Is it possible to set up the email notification?
    Please Help!

Go to messaging-mail-add account. Also check under account settings of the main menu & set it follow my account settings. Then under settings of ur e-mail account select the one which suits u the most. If u set it to manually then data costs will b less but u won't get notifications automatically. If u set it to v fast data costs will b high so check with ur operator.
When u first configure ur account u may get a notification that u r in roaming (even if u r not) & it will ask to reduce data costs. But ignore it & set it to follow my account settings
Please mark the post as solution if it solves your problem.
