  • Can I change the email notification sound?

I can't hear the email notification sound on my iPhone. Is there a way to customize it? I have it turned up as loud as it will go, but, if I'm out somewhere, and my phone is in the holster, I can't hear it!
    Any help would be appreciated!!
    Stephanie

    Hi Stephanie,
The email sound options are in Settings> Sounds. There is no option to change the tone.
You can leave iPhone feedback requesting a feature be modified here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

OS4: Can I change the incoming email notification sound???
I installed OS4 but still cant seem to.
HOW CAN I CHANGE MY INCOMING EMAIL ALERT SOUND???

Apparantly Apple have yet to realize that people like to customize their handsets.
I had an HP in 2001 and it had fully customized sounds.
It also had the option of a calendar on the Wallpaper - one of the most important features of a business handset.
OS4 on IPhone and yet the only way of someone getting these important features is to JB it. This is my 3rd Iphone and I won't be getting an IPhone 4, 5 or 6 until an OS update unlocks that wallpaper for a calendar.

  • Email notification sound despite sound is on mute

Why does my Retina iPad give email notification sound despite sound is on mute? My 1st generation iPad does not produce any sound if it's on mute.

Are you sure that you have system sounds muted? Either the side switch or the task bar (double tap the home button and swipe to the right in the task bar to get to whatever icon is all the way to the left - sound or rotation lock) is how you mute system sounds.
You could try Settings>General>Sounds>New Mail>None as well and that should turn off the sound. Just make sure that you do have system sounds muted first.
This is my standard and somewhat long winded explanation regarding system sounds and the screen rotation lock.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • Email notification sound not playing

I have 2 email accounts synced to my phone. One hotmail and one from my offices exchange server. I only get notification sounds from the hotmail account and not the other. I  need the notification to play for the outlook exchange account. I have notifications turned on and a sound selected. Why is it only playing for the hotmail account and not on the outlook exchange account? How can I fix this?

Leave the one you have setup for your hotmail account alone since that one is already working for you. Go through the steps listed below for your outlook exchange account and see if these steps will work for you.
1.From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located in the lower-left).
    2.Touch Mail.
    3.Touch Menu.
    4.Touch More.
    5.Touch Settings.
    6.Touch Notification Settings.
    7.Touch Email notifications.
Email notifications are enabled if a green check mark is present.
    8.
    Touch the desired notification.
Notifications are enabled if a green check mark is present.

  • N8 - Can you disable email notification sound

Hi all, Had this phone for about 3 days & its sending me insane.  It gives me a loud beep every time I get an email, usually 4 -5 times through the night.  ( My wife, alias "why did'nt you get an Iphone like mine") is not impresed.  When I go into main menu settings, I can press about 3 to 4 differents icons eg - settings > phone>voice commands > settings & then it goes in voice mode & I can't do a thing with it.  How can I get rid of voice commands & turn off my email notification,
    Thanks Rob

I realise that you have 'accepted' a solution to your problem but I would like to suggest an alternative.
There is a Free application on Ovi suite called Nokia Situations.  This allows you to set up different profiles for different situations.
I have a profile that I called Night Time which I have set Nokia Situations to activate at 11pm and deactivate at 8am.  In this profile I have turned all sounds off apart from allowing the phone to ring if a member of my family calls.  I also get it to turn off Bluetooth during the Night Time profile and other battery saving things.  Nokia situations is very comprehensive and I guess I only use a small percentage of its features but I think it is superb.
I used to have to remember to switch to Night Time profile late at night and then back to General in the morning.  Now, it is all automatic.
    Hope this helps.
    History: Always Nokia since 1994 including Nokia 2140, 7110e, 6150, 6210, 6310i, 6230i, N82
Current: Nokia N8 (Anna - I have no intention of going to Belle) - and delighted with it!

  • No email notification sound iOS 8

I do not get a badge or sound for a new email on my charter, net acct. My exchange acct and yahoo acct all show a badge and a notification sound. The phone settings are identical on all accts. Charter says it's an apple problem and apple says its a charter problem. My wife has the same issue on her phone. This is all since ios8 update.
    Any help out there?

@Meg St._Clair: Sincerely I don't like the Apple Mail app for using with gmail. I prefer using directly Google web app which keeps closer to my browser gmail experience (conversation view and coloring and threading). By the way, I noticed that Apple Mail app shows some differences in threading email conversations and it makes things messy to me (the same conversation shows different email counts in Apple Mail than in original Gmail interface, may be sometimes Apple Mail splits conversations that gmail keeps unified).

  • New Email Notification Sound

    Hi,
These Apple devices are getting a little popular. At my workplace I always hear the same old "ding" everytimes someone gets an email so a number of us reach for our devices to see which one it was for.
We are up to iOS4 so I imagine it is a choice to not allow configurable notification sounds. What possible (sensible) reason can there be?! It isn't exactly a complext feature.
The renowned Apple consistancy in operation is good but not for notifications. thats just confusing.

You can change your email alert sounds through the use of a free app. Download Boxcar from the app store, and have it alert you when an email arrives with one of its sounds. You can then turn off the email received sound in the settings on the iPad.
We do this in my house with 3 iphones and 2 ipads constantly dinging. Each person has a unique email arrival sound.

  • IPhone email notification sounds quiet times?

I like to use iPhone email but the sounds wake me up.
Rather than turning the notification sound off every day
    Can you set quiet times?
I can on gmail push app
    Thanks

Flip the mute switch on the side before you go to bed. Clock alarms still sound.

  • Email notification sound not working

I own a iPad2 wifi. I have added my yahoo mail business account to my iPad. The current Sounds settings in my iPad is Ringer and Alerts ----> ON; Ringtone ----> Alarm; New Mail -----> ON and other settings such as Sent Mail, Calendar Alerts are in OFF mode. But I don't hear any sound alert when ever I receive an email. Do I need to need anything more to hear the sound. Appreciate your help.

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

  • Two email notification sounds

When receiving an email on my iPad I often get two notifications.  Same sounds, just one after the other.  This "always" occurs if I send myself an email, such as sending a link from somewhere online so I can read it later on a larger screen. Any idea why the duplicate notifications and how to stop them?

I don't think you can, but you can double check in setting - sounds - mail -, I think you can only set one tone for emails.

  • No email notification sound

    Hi there,
i recently received a Q10 from my new employer to follow up my e-mails and the problem is that the phone does not make any sound when receive emails the LED also not bllinking no vibrations also. all settings are fine and i am 100% sure so don't ask me about the settings pleaaaaaase.
    kindly note the following also:
    1. tried the turn off and battery removal method.
    2. checked the notification and sound settings like 100 times.
    3. restart the phone many times.
    4. the software version is :10.2.1.3062 and no update available.
    5. text message notification work fine.
    6. change the tone also many times and same problem.
    7. i live in Iraq so no service support and no warranty and such things available.
    8. asked my colleagues who carry the same model and some of them are facing same problem.
please i need a solution cause the phone is totally useless without making notifications. sorry for long message/Regards
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I know you said don't tell you it's the Settings, but it has to be. If you hear sound and/or vibration for a text message then the speaker and piezo vibrator are working. That leaves nothing but the settings. Go into Notifications, start off with Normal profile and make sure Sound is NOT off and that Vibrate is ON., move the sound level slider all the way up.
Also go to Lock Screen Settings and make sure Notifications are ON.
In HUB settings click on Display Actions and make sure Display New Message Indicator is ON
Lastly check the speakers, the one you hear from when you talk on the phone is different from the speakers that are used for music and in some cases notifications, play some music to make sure those work and then make sure you can hear on a phone call..
Check all of these, then pull the battery while the Q is turned on and wait 30 seconds and then reinstall the battery.

  • 3rd party email notification sounds

For the past 4-6 weeks my notification alert from Yahoo is not working. I've read many posts that since upgrading to iOS8, there may be a bug. Looking for something so I can stop making myself crazy trying to figure this out.
In the native mail application I have my work emails coming through fine with the visual alerts and the Bamboo Sound. I have the Yahoo application as well and have Yahoo added in the native iPhone mail application. The visual alerts are fine but I don't get the native application sound I've chosen.
The Yahoo application has a sound that is only the standard iPhone notification that can't be changed, so I have that off.
What I'm trying to accomplish is that when I get an email two different sounds are played. When I hear the bamboo sound I know it's a work email and when I hear the note sound I know its personal. It used to work but it doesn't any longer. The sound has worked if I was in the mail application.
    Any ideas
