Email Notifications - can't turn off
I posted a thread and got an email notif because somebody posted a reply.
I went to the thread and clicked on "Stop Email Notifications."
I also went to Preferences and turned off notifications in two places.
However, I again got an email today for another reply. (This is all the same thread.)
What can I do to make sure I never get those??
Thanks
More accurately, I went to Profile and selected two radio buttons to turn off notifications.

Email notifications continue despite turning off
I have turned off email notificationsover and over as well as checked the no boxes for emailin my profile. No matter what I do the email notifications continue.
I will need to de activate my membershp if the emails do not stop.
Thank you,
LeslieI thought I could be notified and un-notified for an individual thread (once I was through with it)?
I know about the notification places in my profile.
You have read this, right?
Re: Cannot Turn Off <http://forums.adobe.com/message/2457404#2457404> Email Notifications in LR3 Forum
Get notifications and stop notifications are in the right hand panel, right on the individual discussion
message. The exact wording is below.
Actions
* Stop <http://forums.adobe.com/thread/536941?tstart=0> email notifications
* Receive email <http://forums.adobe.com/thread/536941?tstart=0> notifications
* if you click that, then the link changes to:
· Actions
Stop email notifications <http://forums.adobe.com/thread/536941?tstart=0>
When a message comes into my email and I go into the link to read the discussion on the forum, the link says "Receive email notifications".
Since I just got the email notification and went into the site, I assume Adobe means that my 'state' is that I AM receiving email notification.
That link could also be interpreted as click here IF YOU WANT TO receive email notifications.
I then click the link the Receive link to 'turn it off', assuming it is only my current 'state', but I still keep getting messages.
I have tried it both ways and still get emails, about 2-4 dozen every day.
I looked at 'Your Stuff' link, then on 'Preferences', and it does read as me wanting to receive emails from threads I have sent a message to or threads that I have responded to. That is true. If I do that, I want to be notified that I have responses. But, when I am through with a thread, I want to use the Receive or Stop link to cancel just that thread. That is not working for me.
As far as Your Stuff > Profiles > Email notifications are concerned, I do not have anything on that list at all.
Sorry, for not getting back to you sooner, but I never did notice a response email for your response. -

How can you turn off notification for email but leave it on for text?
Suds57 Thanks for posting, made me look a little deeper because I kept looking in general settings not specific app settings. Appreciate both of the responses to this!

Have had new iPhone 6 for 2 months, using iOS 8. I share iCloud calendars with 3 others and I am getting bombarded with their upcoming appointment alerts. There seems no way to turn this off. I went to Settings->Notifications->INCLUDE(Calendar)->Shared Calendar Changes and turned everything off, but this only blocks alerts about new events or changes to events being added to the calendars, it does not block the 5-minute/10-minute/etc. alarms that go off immediately in advance of the appointment. There used to be a setting in iOS7 in "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars" way at the bottom to turn off alarms from shared calendars, but I don't see that in iOS8. Any ideas?
Finally figured this out when I read jodiemcneill 's post about Google calendars. Thanks!
Reposting the basic idea: to turn off event alerts from shared ICloud calendars, select the Calendar App, then click the "info" (i.e., the circled red 'i') icon next to the shared iCloud calendar to be silenced. Go down to "Notifications" and turn the slider off for "Event Alerts: (Allow events on this calendar to display alerts.)"
For good measure, you can also turn off the slider for "Show Changes" to prevent the calendar from displaying messages when shared events are added/modified/deleted, although this can be done "globally" for all shared iCloud Calendars in Settings->Notifications->Calendar->Invitations (turn off all sliders, click "none" for Alert Style).
This has been a major pain in the ... neck ... for the past 3 months. So glad to start the new year with a suddnely-much-quieter iPhone 6. -

How can I turn off base64 email encoding in iPlanet Process Manager?
Email sent out from a workflow running in the Process
Manager seems to be base64 encoded. How can I turn
off the encoding? No worries. Typically you can rename a machine by just changing the name System Preferences -> Sharing. But there is also a command line option to adjust the name, and if you don't use the command line option, the server freaks out and will alert you about the change forever. ie - for servers, you need to use the command I describe below.
The command is called changeip and can be run from command line in Terminal.app. It is for manually chaning the ip address and or name of a machine. It basically has 4 parameters: old ip address, new ip address, old machine name, new machine name.
Basically the command looks like this:
sudo changeip OLDIPADDRESS NEWIPADDRESS OLDNAME NEWNAME
If any value is being kept the same, just repeat the identical information as both the old and new value.
Example 1: Changing the IP address and host name. This would update the machine's ip address to be 192.168.1.2 and its name would be update to my_new_name.
sudo changeip 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.2 my_old_name my_new_name
Example 2: Keeping the IP address the same but updating the name. This would update the machine's name to my_new_name but would keep the same ip address.
sudo changeip 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.1 my_old_name my_new_name
Most likely you're just wanting to update the name, in which case you should follow the second example. If you run this, be sure to reboot the machine afterwards and test to make sure that any enabled services are running properly. -
Can't turn off twitter text notifications. I tried settings, notifications, but the notification center doesn't have the twitter option. I also tried settings, sounds, tweet, none- for alert tones. This is still not turning it off. Twitter people said it's not their problem. Is anyone having this problem?
It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:
http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/baddns.php
http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/hackedrouter.php
If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

Can't turn off calendar notifications on shared calendar
Hello,
Since Yosemite I can't turn off calendar notifications on shared calendar.
The notifications are turned off on calendar.
The notification are turn off on the Google calendar settings.
Am I missing something?
Best,
g.Hi gregorytrow,
There's a shared calendar messages preference in Calendar preferences you may want to change.
Calendar: If you’re not receiving alerts
Choose Calendar > Preferences, click Alerts, and then deselect the “Turn off shared calendar messages in Notification Center” and “Turn off invitation messages in Notification Center” checkboxes.
Take care,
Nubz -
I can't search for apps by pulling down on the home screen. Today view in Notification Center is turned off, but today view comes up when I pull down, not Spotlight Search.
Pull down starting in the middle of the home page, not at the top.

I don't know the years most of my contacts were born, so I keep getting a default year 2000 birthdate.
How can I turn off the age (xxth birthday) in Birthday Calendar - it really is very annoying!?
Thanks
TimWhere do you see the default birthday showing as Nov. 30? If you can explain that, I can probably modify the below script to do that clean up.
In response to the original problem:
I'm not sure why I missed the original reply, but here is an Applescript that will change all the years of any selected contacts to 1604 (default for no year).
tell application "Contacts"
set thePeople to selection
repeat with aPerson in thePeople
set theDate to birth date of aPerson
if theDate is not missing value then
set the year of theDate to 1604
set birth date of aPerson to theDate
end if
end repeat
end tell
copy and paste it into a new Applescript Editor document. Select all the contacts you want to change (in Contacts), then run this script by clicking on the green Run button in Applescript Editor.
