Email Notifications on Prime Infrastructure 2.1

Hi Everyone,
I have a Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 with almost 100 switches registered and managed properly. I have configured the Mail Server and alarm notifications are sent with no problems.
The deal is that I don´t want to recieve alarm mails for every single device that is registered. Is it possible to recieve mails just for a group of devices? I was checking the Cisco documents but could not find something clear about this.
Thanks for your help,
Ricardo

  • Email notification for config deployment jobs in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 ??

We're upgrading from LMS 3.2 to Cisco Prime Infrastructure ...
In LMS 3.2 we're using netconfig all the time to configure various jobs related to port security
In installing Cisco Prime Infrastructure and working through it's use of templates, I'm having some difficulty finding out how to send out a notification once a configuration job has completed.  It's so simple in LMS 3.2 since it's part of the job creation screens.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    HI, Raymond
Just wondering if this problem is resolved?
    Thanks!

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.0 Job Approval notifications?

I have a question about notification for job approvers in Prime 2.0.  I'm trying to setup PI such that a restricted user can create a configuration change on a wireless controller and submit it for approval by the PI admin.
The PI admin will likely not be logging in every day to check job approval status.   I can't see anywhere that notifies the admin via email that a job is waiting.  can this be done or am I missing something?
    -Tim

    Hi Tim,
I don't think we have an email optiom to notify the ADMIN to approve the pending jobs ,however if you authorized any job then ONLY admin can approve to run the job.
    check the below link:

  • Syslog Email forwarding on Cisco Prime Infrastructure

    Hi everybody,
We are performing a migration from LMS 4.2 to Prime Infrastructure 2.1 and we are realizing that some features are not in this new platform.
I suspect that one of them is syslog forwarding by email. In our old LMS we collect some syslog messages, we filtrate them and we email some of them, based on a criteria. Some of them we email to someone, and some of them are droped.
Does someone know if this feature is avaliable in Cisco Prime? I think we can collect syslog messages and view them, but we can not process. Am I right?
Regards and thank you in advance,
    David

    Hi David,
Yes , unfortunately  so far syslog forwarding is not supported.
Also so far only SEV 0.,1 and 2 syslogs are supported in PI. Hoping to have these features in PI 2.2
    Thanks-

  • Prime Infrastructure - Email Alerts by Virtual Domain

We are currently providing wireless to various buildings and districts via flexconnect controllers and use Prime as a monitoring device each separate group is able to access individually to view their maps and APs. I have received a request for email alerts when APs are down from one district, but I see no way to group the email alerts that Prime sends out. It seems to be you can vary by type (APs vs switches) but not by virtual domains or groups of devices. Is there any way to pull this off directly from Prime?
I could potentially have all email alerts sent to one inbox and then forward based on rules to include the AP syntax for each district, but that would be quite messy, especially if only one of the many districts wants the alerts.
Thanks for any idea you can provide.

Just an update for anyone who may stumble on this issue and have the same problem. In version 1.4 of Prime Infrastructure if you change your virtual domain in the top right and then go to alerts and choose email options you have a completely new list you can set up. Doing this you can do a root folder for a company or district you are providing for and setup email alerts for only that teir and bellow of access. This way they only see alerts from APs and devices they have access too. Meanwhile you can leave the root teir to email yourself and then separate them out via inbox rules as desired.
This may be possible on older versions of Prime, but I did not notice the email alerts being an option while under the other domains until 1.4.

  • Cisco Prime Infraestructure email notification

    Hello,
We have configured Cisco Prime Infraestructure to get email notifications. Problem is that we are getting alerts for all controllers and APs
configured in Prime, and some of them are managed by another team, so I would like to know if it could be possible to configure some kind
of filter to get the alerts only for controllers we are interested?
Any ideas would be very much appreciated.
    Jhony Pardo

    Hi Scott
I have not a good understanding how virtual domain it can helps. How do you suggest using virtual domains?
In my case there are only three administrators in the network and they are not interested about getting email notifications from the ports connecting end users in access switches, but they are interested about uplink ports notifications and CPU, memory, environment from the same switches.
    Hope your support.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.1 - SFP port alarms to email/show total network traffic speed

    Hello,
Running Prime Infrastructure 2.1 with assurance license.
    I have two questions:
    1. Setting up alarms in PI 2.1. I've set up a port group of my main switches that have TenGig links to our main router. I have set up a monitor template that has only interface availability on it and then deployed it. In theory, this should email me, the contact (where I put my email address in), when the ports that I have set up go down, correct?
    2. I want to monitor the entire traffic of the network going in to the router from our TenGig ports. I've messed around with the dashlets and adding my port group to the WAN utilization dashlet but only see % of utilization. I'd like to be able to see raw traffic stats from those ports. I'm sure I'm missing something. Where do I need to look in PI to check raw traffic data in Mbps/Gbps from my ports.

In my first question, I do not get an email when a port goes down. I set up a test port and when I pulled it, after about 10 minutes, it had never sent me an email. I will continue to look through what I've been doing to see if I can figure it out.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.0 - Email alert when device is unreachable

Is there a way for PI to send email alerts when a device becomes unreachable? I know there are alerts when an interface goes down, but I can't find how to get prime to alert me ONLY when a device becomes unreachable.
Does anyone know how to do this? I can't believe such a simple feature would be so difficult to configure...

PI also generates an event when it finds unreachable device. An event is an occurrence or detection of some condition in or around the network. An event is a distinct incident that occurs at a specific point in time. Examples of events include:
    Port status change
    Device reset
Device becomes unreachable by the management station
You can view the list of events using the Event Browser.
Choose Operate > Alarms & Events , then click Events to access the Events Browser page.
Prime Infrastructure discovers events by automatically polling devices and discovering changes; for example, device unreachable.
For more details on Events, please check here :

How to configure Email notification for User login's in Client Machines?

    Hi ,
Based on the description , you need to assign logon scripts to the end users via group policy and also use your exchange server as the smtp server in that logon script to relay emails to the internal recipients.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.0 disk requirements

The installation guide for Prime 2.0 says it requires 200 MB/s of disk throughput.  Does this mean 200 MB/s sustained IO?
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/prime/infrastructure/2.0/quickstart/guide/cpi_qsg.html#wp69178

    Hi Graham,
What settings do you have checked when you navigate to here?
Operate > Alarms & Events > Email Notification
Also you can define within your network what the level of alarming should be through navigation to here:
Administration > System Settings > Severity Configuration
It doesn't take much to become overburdened by alarms from Prime, I set only a couple of parameters as critical for switch and router state, and set to receive emails from those at this time.

  • Adding new switch in my network including Cisco Prime Infrastructure

    hi all,
if I connect new switch to my network, can I let Cisco PI to apply a specific template of configuration to this switch automatically?
how can I do that ?
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
    i followed these steps :
    SWITCH SIDE
    - configured Prime Infrastructure as snmp-server host;
    - enabled snmp-traps for linkup and linkdown events globally;
    - disabled snmp-traps for linkup and linkdown on non relevant interfaces using the no snmp trap link-status command
    PRIME INFRASTRUCTURE SIDE
    - under "Deploy/Monitor Deployment" i deployed template "Interface Health"  for all the interested switches
    -  under "Administration/System Settings/Mail Server Configuration" configured my internal SMTP server to make Prime Infrastructure able to send e-mails
    - under "Operate/Alarms & Events" click on "Email Notifications" , then on "Switches and Hubs"
       - check the "critical" box ,  insert the destination e-mail address into the "To" field then click "Save"
     -  check the "switches and Hubs" box and then click Save
As i know is possible to avoid to configure every single not-interesting port on the switches with "no snmp trap link-status" command (it's a bit annoying when you have tens of switches), using Port Grouping configuration on PI but i tried it without success.
    Hope this helps.

  • Including Interface Description in Cisco PRime Infrastructure Alarm Message

    Hi all,
i succesfully configured a Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 applliance to display an alarm and to send me an e-mail when switch uplink ports goes down.
The text displayed in alarm message is :
port 'interface_id' is down on device 'device_ip_address'
I'd like to include in this text also the interface description so the text will display :
port 'interface_id'  'interface_descriprion' is down on device 'device_ip_address'
    Is this possible?

  • Consultations on Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2

I recently installed Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2 and I have 2 questions regarding configuration:
    1. What configurations should run for vulnerability when some event occurs on a switch an alarm is lifted in the Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2?
    2. Is there any way to put a device into maintenance mode in the web interface of Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2, so that can not be spoiled reports regarding equipment availability during the execution of maintenance?

    1. If you configure PI as an SNMP and syslog server for your devices and have enabled logging traps etc., PI's alarm browser will show the alarms. If you want them to be sent to you via email, you can do that under the Admin menu for setting up your Mail server and clicking the link to "Configure email notification for individual alarm categories." (see below - open in new tab to zoom). It's not completely customizable but what you see there is the current product capabilities in that regard.
    2. No, this is not currently an available feature in PI 2.2.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.2 snmp-server location

We have implemented Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2 in our facility.  We have each switch loaded in with an "snmp-server location" set for the switches for easier identification and quicker troubleshooting.  We would like that location to show in the network topology map as well as in the email alerts it sends if one of those switches goes down.  Is this something I am overlooking, and if so, can someone please explain to me how to make this happen?

    Hi William,
snmp-server location is synced from the devices & also the info available in various report.
But, if i'm not wrong you want to customize the e-mail body of notifications sent out from the prime.
This functionality is no where discussed in PI user guide & i'm afraid not possible as of now.
Also, there's bug related to snmp-server location even retrieving it from the reports
CSCuj09556 : PI 2.0 corrupts device config by doing snmp set for location after sync

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 Alarm & Events

    I am using Cisco PI 1.3 to monitor Cisco 2960, 3750 & 6500 Switchs.
Sometime,  when a Switch port is down, a syslog message send to PI and the PI  considers this issue as "INFORMATION" Severity level in Events List.
How to make the PI considers the port down issue as "CRITICAL" level in order to raise up an Alarm and send Email Notification?
    Thanks & Best Regards

    Hello,
Prime Infrastructure considers the alarm based on the severity listed in the syslog message. In this case, the syslog severity is of level 5, hence PI considers the issue as Information.
If you would like to consider these events more severe, the device will have to be configured to generate more severe syslogs for such events.
    Best regards,
    Vlad
