Email now asks for password every time I try to access it.  Getting very annoying

All of a sudden I have to enter my email passwords each time I try to access my account.  I check the box that says save in Keychain access and it makes no difference.  Sometimes it asks for my password 3 or 4 times.

you may want to try repairing your keychain and see if that resolves the issue, the following article tells how to do this:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1544
hopefully this helps, if not let us know

  • Asks for password every time I try to move a file into document folder.

Say need authorization to move file into document folder. I have some scans on seek top and I want ot place in a diabetes folder, states needs password.
I have 12 items I want to place in the folder, seems a bit too much of a security issue.
The file are transferred data, it states file can not be modified, authenticate or cancel, I hit authenticate and then asked for a password. Since it may be files from a different pc or format, there must be a shortcut to make this simpler.

Where's this folder located? Somewhere in your home folder? When you created this folder, were you logged in to the same user account as the one you are in now?

  • Airport utility asks for password every time?

I have to enter my password every time I use the Airport utility. I enter it and exit the app and as soon as I click on it again I have tomre-enter the password again!
I tried to reset the AirPort Extreme and iPad. It works fine with all my iPhone and Mac. I tried to delete the app and reinstall it. No joy!

Try the following on your MacBook Pro, in order, until (hopefully) resolved:
    1. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
In the windows on the left side: Select login for Keychains and "All Items" for Category.
Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    2. Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
    Go to /Library/Preferences
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to the desktop.
Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder back to it's original location.)

  • Wireless asks for password every time on Lion

First time Mac user with Brand new Macbook Air with Lion.
First thing I do after taking it out of the box is to connect it to my work wireless.  It is checked off to remember the password.  Everytime I close the lid and open it ask for they password again...
There are no updates available.  None of the suggestions from googling and the apple forums help.
Have deleted everything including all remebered networks, keychain passwords, certificates and recreated new locations and it still asks for a password every time.  Started from scratch countless times with still no luck.  Half a dozen Mac cetrans and IT experts have looked at this in person and are stumped.  So much for "it just works".  It just doesn't work!  Very Annoying

Suggest that you try a post over in the Lion support area.
We primarily handle questions about the AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule in this support area.

  • Exchange server asking for password every time

Email and calnedar exhange server requesting password input several times a day and getting very annoying.  Considering this is a key function and purpose of having a Blackberry it is a real let down.  When is the fix coming.  There are hubndreds of web forums expressing same problem !

I never got that, but it's annoying you can't see the sync progress as I did with my bold.  I knew everything had synced.. I also wasn't able to bring over all of my contacts, notes and tasks from my exchange.  I tried several times then gave up and returned it a short while ago.  I liked the phone, it was one of the better blackberry touch screens, but I don't have time to deal with all these issues...  Unforunate, but I think I'm done with blackberry..

  • OS X Mail. Asks for password every time...

Mail app, asks for an account password everytime I relaunch it, restart or reconnect to the internet. Only asks the password for whatever account is the bottom one in preferences. If i go to preferences and check the account info the password field is just blank, I reenter and no luck, it cleans it again if I disconnect, restart or relaunch the app. I had to go as far as to register a new mail acc and place it at the bottom in preferences and just cancel every time the password prompt pops up. Its really annoing.

Launch Keychain Access, Keychain First Aid, and repair your login.keychain, repair permissions, restart, and see if that fixes things.

It's been a while since I've had to do this, but at some point in that process, is there a checkbox to save your password in the keychain? If so, make sure you check this box before you continue.
Edit: Try this: Go to System Preferences > Network, click on Airport in the left pane and click the Advanced button. Click on the Airport tab at the top and look for your Airport network name in the list of preferred networks. Click on it to highlight it and click the Edit button below that list. Does it already have your Airport password entered? If not, enter it there and check the "Remember this network" checkbox.

What you're seeing isn't normal. That is, Firefox on the Mac will normally allow you to open multiple windows, multiple tabs, whatever you want.
What happens why you try to open a new window in Firefox via File > New Window or Command-N? Is there an error message? Or is it that Firefox won't open links in new windows (or tabs)?

  • ModemManager asks for password every time.

Suddenly every time after startup and login ModemManager ask for my user password, and I'm first on the web when I have type it in..
Anyone know why, and how to avoid it/do it automatically.?
    Screenshot: http://db.tt/MqkFsjY4

Even though I had a very similar Problem, I had it with ModemManager in connection with NetworkManager on Debian. I found this thread (as so often you find good answers in the arch forums that help for many other distributions ) but the Problem presented differently (and much much more recent - this weekend in fact)
The Pin Dialog would pop up every restart of NetworkManager, saving or applying the Pin would be rejected with an error that the system policy forbids "org.freedesktop.ModemManager1.Device.Control" and nothing else than aborting ended the dialog. Controlling WLAN was not possible anymore either.
I then found out that though NetworkManager could not find a systemd-session for the current user (by stracing NetworkManager - not very accurate). I guess there was a problem running logind properly from X or something like that, since the system was running SysV-Init with logind. Switching to systemd as a startup manager helped but I didn't find out what broke in the first place.
I hope this helps people finding this thread somehow.

  • Keychain Asks for Password Every Time I Log In

I just got a new MacBook Pro. Every time I log into my account, the keychain asks for my password. My old Mac didn't do this, and I cannot figure out how to have it remember me/not ask every time.

There should be a check mark on that window from keychain that says remember password.

  • Native Cisco VPN - Works but asks for password every time

After installing Snow Leopard, I found that my Cisco Application didnt work anymore. No worries, there is a native app now.
I made a new connection with the native app, and it works.
    Except.
Every time I go to connect, it prompts me for my password. Even if I've already entered it in the network settings panel. That's rather annoying, as I would prefer it remember the password for me.

not a problem here is a solution just follow the instructions from this link and you should be able to save your password in your keychain, i have tried and it works great. incase you dont find the keyAux thing just use the search bar at the top of the keychain access window and you should find it

  • ITunes 10.7 keeps asking for password every time it starts

So, ever since updating to iTunes 10.7, it *continually* asks me for my Apple ID password twice every time I start iTunes.
This is getting quite annoying.  Is this a bug, or is there something that needs to be set to make this stop happening?

Have you ever been able to successfully remain connected to this wifi? Do any other devices connect and stay connected to this wifi? Have you checked to see if there is a firmware update for your router? The last step would be to restore your iPhone, first from a backup and if that doesn't work, then as a new device, or not from a backup. See this support document about restoring http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

  • VPN asks for password every time and gives no way to enter alpha characters

I have an issue with the vpn connect on the iPhone. I set it up and when I try to connect it asks for a password. That is fine, although I would like it to save my password. But when it asks me for my password, it only allows me to type numbers, it has no place to type alpha characters.
Plus once created, how do you edit a vpn connection? Or add another?

I get the same thing and I have tried 2 options. 1st to access VPN I go through the settings/general/vpn and connect through there or 2 I just type in something with the Numeric keypad as it will error out leaving me the option to type in my password and now the proper keypad is displayed. I know these are band aids but they do work for me.

  • IPad popup Wifi panel asks for password every time...

I have an iPad 2. Seems to be an issue with iOS 5.  I have a dev account but don't recall encountering this issue in previous betas.
I use tethering a lot, but i have to restart the tether often because it doesn't stay discoverable. If i restart the hotspot on my phone and im not in the settings app on the iPad, i get the standard popup "Select a wifi network" box.  If i select my tether, or even wifi router in this popup panel, it demands i put in my password or it won't connect.  If i cancel that and go to the Settings app, I can click network, see the same access point, and select it without having to re-enter my password. If i disconnect and retry the event, the popup box comes up, and once again, demands i put in the password i've entered in this box around 30 times already.  If i cancel it and go back to settings, it connects without having to put a password in.
Frustrating bug. Is there anyone else having this issue? I mean, i know i can always go back into settings to get it to recoonect, but should I have to when that panel is there for a reason?  I've tried resetting my network settings, restoring my iPad, all sorts of stuff but it still seems to occur.   Any assistance or even verification of this bug would be cool.
    Thanks,
    - BJ

Look under settings and restrictions and see how the password is set to appear. I think the default is that you only have to log in every 15 minutes, but it can also be set to require it every time.

  • NetworkManager openvpn asks for password every time.

How do I make it stop? I'm using xfce4 as a window manager. I've done a lot of digging with a range of answers, none of which worked for me.
Is it an upstream bug or am I missing something? Ubuntu fixed a bug that might not have been backported that seems to be what I'm experiencing.
It just won't save the password to the configuration file, or keyring, or whatever it is using.

If you got those answers here, please link them to us.
Did you try reinstalling networkmanager and the other related packages?
Did you set a password for acessing some features? (in this case, for the network) Or are you in the correct permissions for that user?
