Email on iphone 3gs

i have just got iphone 3gs and cant setup my email.....
My email address is @eircom.net and my iphone is on the vodafone network
I have gone into Mail, other - then filled in Name (full name), Address (my [email protected]) Password & the description auto fills as Eircom.
I click on next and message "the SMTP server mail1.eircom.net doesnt support password authentication please check your account settings and try again"
Incoming mail server is auto filled to;
Host name - webmail.eircom.net
User name - my [email protected]
Password -
Outgoing mail server is auto filled to;
Host name - mail1.eircom.net
User name - my [email protected]
Password -
Please help this is driving me mad.........??

honestly, i really dont know. I would think it supports it as in other people can access eircom email on mobiles....
when i start to setup on iphone it automatically sets up as POP but i have also tried as IMAP and this also does not work.
the settings for incoming mail server automatically fills in when i click save on the first step.
very sorry, i really dont understand any of this .......

I'm having problem sending email on my iPhone 3GS today only. Error "Cannot send Mail: an error occurred while delivering this message." WiFi is off; Turn on all the SMTP to Yahoo and Gmail; I have powered it off and on again, still my email are not sending out.

Ya - I am have the same problem. I have 4 accounts that are set-up on my phone. 3 Gmail - I can receive but not send out replies - all settings are matched up with gmail sever information. I have 1 Yahoo account which I can send and receive from no problem. Why??

Use my own domain for email on iphone 3GS

Is it possible to use my own domain name for my email on the iphone 3GS?

If you already have such an email domain working on a computer you should be able to configure the iPhone to use it. It can be a bit tricky if you must be connected to your home cable or other specific network to send email, but that can be done, too.

Trouble setting up email on iphone 3GS

I'm trying to connect my school email account with my iphone so that I'll know when I get new emails. So far I've been unsuccessful. This is what I've done so far:
Settings->mail,contacts,calendars->add account->
Then first I clicked microsoft exchange, and filled in the info but nothing happened.
After that didn't work I clicked 'Other' after clicking add account and filled in the info there but again nothing happened and the account was not added.
My school email says Microsoft Exchange in the address bar but at the top of the page it says Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access. Here is a link:

I have no idea if I should choose Microsoft exchange or Other when trying to add an account or what to put as the outgoing/ingoing mail server.

I assume that the gem.jsu.edu is for incoming, but not sure if it should be IMAP or POP. What is the outgoing? Is it the same? Is it the outgoing that should be port 443?

Email and iphone 3gs

Can I use my old iphone 3gs without 3g and phone service and will it or should it still get emails if hooked up to wifi ?

I've been using my old 3Gs as an iPod touch for a year or more - works fine. NOTE - you will need a SIM in it if you ever need to restore it or re-activate it for any reason, so best keep the old SIM around to use for iTunes activation if needed. Also, in the USA at least, even with no active account for the SIM, if the SIM is in it, that phone can still make 911 emergency calls (as per FCC requirements).
Wifi is wifi and will work just fine, either with the SIM in it and no account for the SIM, or without the SIM in it at all.
You do not need a SIM in it once activated in iTunes to sync, update apps or even the iOS, you just need a SIM if you need to re-run the iTunes activation for any reason (eg. a fubar'd iOS update that requires you to restore as new).

My 3gs is UK ,with T mobile and my email is provided by virgin media and is a @blueyonder.co.uk address
Since setting up my iphone in january my emails have been pushed through ok-either at the imes I have set or when I open my inbox on the iphone
UNTIL YESTERDAY when none were pushed through
We have a small 5* Hotel and arrived home to find a guest had been waiting on the doorstep for 1 hour! The booking confirmation made hours earlier had not been pushed to my iphone so we didn't know we had a booking as we would had virgin pushed the email through
Any advice please -the phone is correctly set up

Setting gmail to see only new email on iPhone 3gs

I only want to see new email when I access gmail on my iPhone, but I see every email that has ever been sent.
I need to keep what I have on my computer, but don't need anything but new to come thru on iPhone. Everytime I start to delete what I don't want on my phone more old email get pushed thru. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this?

With an IMAP account you will see all emails, not just the newest ones. It will show the last 50 recent messages by default.
You can setup folders on Gmail and move your read messages to the folder leaving the inbox empty. Then when new messages come in only the new one show. Then read and move message to folder on the iPhone.

Hi Guys, I have a question for you all. I am not the most technically knowledgeable, so please excuse me.
I have set up on office with a Mac Mini server (1TB), 3 x iMacs OSX V 10.6.2 that are all networked. We also have two ipads that are not networked as yet. We work remotely and our client, who is a large financial services company and have hightened secruity, has created a 'tunnel' so we are theoretically linked directly to their offices.
However, we are wanting to be able to have our email @thatfScompany.com. sent through to us and they are asking for a static IP address. We were wanting to use mobileme for our mail and unfortunately they have dynamic ip addresses. The company uses Exchange Servers and have a very heavy level of security and insist they will not forward our email unless we have a static IP address. We would rather not use MS Office for Business with Entourage. I have had 2 x IT engineers in my office all day yesterday, one knows a quite a lot about APPLE products and I still have this problem!!
We are also on iphones to and the company are saying that they are not secure enough to send email through to and are advising us to use blackberries??.
I hope this all makes sense and I have given you all the right information. Can anyone advice me on a solution if possible please?

Have an iphone 3GS, 2 email accounts. My work email account used to work. Now if I send any emails from this account it only appears in my sent box. Recipients internal and external do not receive. IT person cannot figure why occurring. Any insight?

This has nothing to do with your iPhone.
If a message is in the account's Sent mailbox, this means the message was successfully sent. If a message cannot be sent for whatever reason, it will remain in the Outbox.
What happens to a message after it was successfully sent has nothing to do with the email client or computer/device used to send the message.

ICloud emails sent from apple mail or iPhone 3gs never arrives, works fine when sent from iCloud website

The ony place I have been able to send and receive email since the launch of iCloud has been the icloud website. I wasn't able to send email from my iphone 3gs or apple mail at all until today, now it finally appears to let me send email but it never arrives to its destination.
I can send an email from the icloud website without issue, and email sent from my icloud account using my iphone 3gs and apple mail seems to send fine and without error but who knows where it goes.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I figured out how to fix it... if anyone else has this problem, go to Outlook > Preferences > Accounts > select the IMAP account > Advanced > Folders and for "Store Sent Messages in this Folder:" select "Sent Messages (Server)."

I can't access email from my iPhone 3gs since changing email password

iPhone 3s 16GB
iOS version: 6.1.3
ISP Bigpond Cable
I can't access my email from my iPhone 3GS.
This is an iPhone problem, not an ISP problem.
I know this because I can access my email from both my laptop and webmail.
This is occurring here at home via my WiFi network and also a few kilometres away via 3G.
This morning I had to change the password on my Bigpond Cable internet email account.
Whenever I try to access email from my phone I receive the following error:
"Cannot Get Mail"
"The user name or password for "**** *****" is incorrect."
There are two buttons, one captioned Settings the other OK.
Both the user name and password are correct. This happened perhaps 4 or 5 times in the 6+ years I was with Internode and has happened a couple of times in the 20 months that I've been on Bigpond Cable.
I have re-entered my email account and connection details multiple times to no avail.
I have tried deleting the account, then rebooting my phone and creating a new account, but that didn't work.
I tried deleting the account, turning the phone completely off, waiting one minute and then after turning it back on, creating a new account but that didn't work.
I know I am entering the correct settings because before I deleted the account the first time, I took a series of screen captures from the Settings App and I also have the settings from MS Outlook to refer to.
Its as though somewhere in the phone, the old email password is being stored and being used instead of the new one, but I don't know where that could be except in the Settings app, "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" and that is where I am entering the new password.
The only solutions to this problem I found by searching are those that I have already tried and haven't worked for me.
Reverting to the old password is not an option. My account was compromised by Malware, hence the password change and a complete scan of my laptop.
Any ideas?

The problem was resolved by erasing the entire contents of my phone and then restoring it, setting it up as a new phone.
