Email problem -  Can't send

I've called our internet supplier and set up the account. I can receive mail no problem and it seems to send any, but no one can receive it. I do not get any error message and it says that the massage was sent but anyone I've tried (including the internet support person) cannot receive any.
Maybe there is a setting or something that was set wrong or something i forgot to check??
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Make sure you set up the outgoing mail server of the mail program you are using properly. Double check with your ISP.

    HI Liszt333,
Please speak with your mail provider about this issue, they can talk to you about blocked ports and site compatibility.

  • As of 1:00pm Thursday, 3/1/12, I am no longer receiving any email, nor can I send anything out from my account. I am OS4.1.1, hoping to upgrade next week to Leopard (because my mac is not Intel-based), but in the meantime, it's non-functional.

Is anyone else having problems with the email? I am not receiving any emails, nor can I send anything out. Spent 30 minutes on online chat last night with someone most unhelpful, only to be told that the reason I'm not receiving anything is because my email is being forwarded to another address. I set my preferences to do that several years ago when this mac.com/me.com server began having so many issues, to ensure I was receiving email so I could check from my other address. The only comment I got was well, we no longer support 10.4.1 so there isn't anything we can do to help you. The status update says 33% of their customers are unable to migrate. So I'm pretty sure I'm not alone and that is a pretty large base of customers to no longer provide support to. Is anyone else who has not migrated to iCloud experiencing these email problems? Currently my iDisk works to transfer my larger files, but my email does not.

Hello, here's the fix I think...
I think they're slowly nudging people to switch, .mac & MobileMe are going away about July, may as well set it up now.
I understand .mac mail will still come through.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...

We have a replacement imac that can receive emails but can't send any. We have spent hours with Apple and Optimum and the problem has yet to be resolved! Any ideas?

I don't really know what you tried, so I can only suggest you start from the beginning:

Please describe in detail what happens when you take all the applicable steps in the support article. That's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

help, I can get emails just can't send them

After my OS5 upgrade I had this problem too.
iPhone wouldn't send email after my OS 5 upgrade, So I deactivated the account in Mail settings and hit DONE…then hopped out and checked email (did not really see anything)…then went back to settings and activated account. Now it works. Fixed. What!? I know.
Just TRY THIS. Deactivating won't lose the account. Just resets it I presume.

    Hi johnnytoo!
I know it's aggravating when you need to send an email and it doesn't go through! I have a link that provides step by step information from Apple's website that should resolve this for you.

I can receive email but can't send on my ipad2. It says 'rejected by the server'.

I would that that your smtp settings are set up wrong
I would verify them 1 by 1 against the setup guide from the mail provider
if they were the same I would suspect that your phone company are blocking the ports
required by smtp in which case I would take contact to them and ask why

You will most likely need to put a password for your outgoing mail server, go back into the mail account and put in the password, same password as your incoming mail server.

  • HT3228 Can get email but can't send

I set up my pop 3 account and I can receive emails but can't send them. Something simple Im sure..?.

Many times is is because the outgoing server settings are not correct.
Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

I am having trouble with my wife's new iPhone 5s. She can receive her telus email but can not send any email what did I do wrong in setting up her account on her iPhone? I tried to just copy the info from her old iPhone.

The sending of email is accomplished via the SMTP server. Take a moment to get back into Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars and select the account. Go to the SMTP server and check to make sure that username and password are entered in all of the appropriate places. If you cannot get it to work after trying to just change those settings, remove the account from the phone and recreate it. When recreating, make sure you enter the username and password in every location, even if the phone says optional. Make sure you have the settings from either the email provider or from the other device. Make sure that SSL is on or off as necessary.

Why does my iPad hang when writing an email?  When I'm done with the email, I can't send it out and have to re-boot the iPad. This happens if the time to compose email exceeds 10 to 15 minutes.

Shut down all programs that are running in the background.
    1. Double-click the Home button to see Apps in background
    2. Hold the Apps down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close program
    4. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo
Suggest you perform Step 1 to 3 at the end of every day.

  • MacMail problems, can't send email

I run OS 10.8.4 and have multiple macMail problems, which vary from day to day. Sometimes I have to force quit Mail, lately I usually can't send email out, although I receive email, some days Mail keeps asking for mt email passwords over and over. How can I bring these problems to a halt. If I can find my Mountain Lion original disk, can I selectively reinstall MacMail only?

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Quit and relaunch Mail, and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
