  • NHS mail with Mountain Lion

Anyone having problems with their NHS-mail using Mountain Lion (e.g. 10.8.4)?
Upon creating my NHS account on Mac-mail I have encountered repeated problems.
The mails disappear at random times or each time I reboot my Macbook Air. At random times, the mails begin to reload and then disappear again.
This did not happen with my previous Macbook Air, which had Snow Leopard, and it does not occur with my other email accounts with Mountain Lion.
I called Mac Support who suggested I remove the NHS-mail account from the Mac-mail and then recreat it, but this has not resolved the problem.
    Can anyone assist, please?

http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4363  - this is all I can suggest.
If they can't give you enough help, http://www.mail2web.com/ or http://www.altomail.com/ might work better at accessing it via web browser.   Microsoft Outlook for the Mac also has good Exchange support, but you have to buy the full Microsoft Office 2011 suite for the Mac.    Older versions may work as well, under Entourage.  Storing mail on your computer though can lead to significant data corruption of e-mail if you have large e-mail storage of over 4 GB.

  • Does anyone have an email client that is working with Mountain Lion? I'm giving up on Mail after installing Mountain Lion

    Hi
I give up.  I just cannot see my exchange inbox in Mail after installing Mountain Lion.  My mail is not being deleted.  Its still in my inbox I just can't see it. I've tried everything suggested on the forums and nothing is working for me.
My productivity has completely stalled and I really need to move to an email client that is going to work seamlessly with Mountain Lion.
    Any recommendations?

I have the same problem. Upgraded to ML, and my Mac Mail suddenly can't communicate with Gmail's SMTP server.
I have been having the SAME problem with ALL my Gmail accounts with Mail.app - It is very annoying, especially when you have clients and other important email to respond to.  So you're definitely NOT alone in this department.
Might have to go back to Thunderbird or something until this gets fixed, which is going to really suck because I have 5000+ emails along with all my Email Folders in Mail not too mention the Rules I have had setup for years!
AND with the RSS Feeds NOT working in BOTH Mail and Safari!  That was a HUGE MISTAKE and defintely a STEP BACKWARDS on whoever's idea that was for sure!

  • Falcon 4.0 Allied Forces does not work with Mountain Lion and Nvidia 650M

I have the new Imac with Mountain Lion and the base, built in Nvidia GeForce 650M card.  I bought the Falcon Allied Forces game app from the app store, but the in-game graphics are unusable, pixelated, and generally garbage.  It does not appear there are any patches out there to correct this?  Has anyone had any luck correcting this issue?  From what I can gather, it seems it worked fine on other macs prior to Mountain Lion?  So is this an Apple patch, or a game developer patch that needs to go in place?

bozhoz, I replied to your last post on Falcon 4 contact Amy <[email protected]> and ask her whats going on.  The last time I spoke to her she said it was apples problem!?!?.  However it says the sim works on macs and is in the App store it should run!!!!

  • I cloud on my Imac with Mountain Lion - signing out means losing contacts, etc.

Help.  I have tried to sign out of I cloud on my Imac with Mountain Lion but it says if I do so it will either delete my contacts, documents, etc. from the computer. Something is not right here.  How can I prevent this from happening?  Thank you.

You have to remember that your email, calendars and contacts live on the iCloud server, not on your Mac, and your Mac reads them from there (like webmail)*. So if you sign out, you don't affect the actual data in any way because it's still on the server, but your Mac loses access to it. When you sign back in it's all still there.
However, as Julian says, there is no reason to sign out unless you are actually having a technical problem that may be solved by signing out and in again. The whole idea is to stay signed in at all times.
*Just to clarify, your Mac maintains a cached copy of the data to speed things up, and so that you can still see it when you are signed in but have no internet connection; but this cache is deleted when you sign out. For practical purposes you can ignore it. As with all caches (and your Mac has a lot) it's hidden (hence the name) and can't be regarded as an actual copy.

  • Will Elements 6 be compatible with Mountain Lion?

Will Phoptoshop Elements 6 be compatible with Mountain Lion?

    Keith... other folks as well.
I finally saw Terrence's link (RoaringApps) and went there.  I can't believe I missed it.  Apparently Elements 6 will be OK. THANK YOU TERRENCE!  I suppose I could upgrade, but I'm so familiar with 6 I'm reluctant to leave it unless there's no other way out. I read the specs for Elements 10 and I see what might be a problem with meeting their spec requirements.
I thought the simplest solution might be to upgrade to Lion.  Can't find it for sale anywhere. Oh well... and all this is to solve a recurring, stupid, blankety blank email problem.

I'm confused. I just got an email from Apple Support Community (updates) and I see that a "baltwo" response is marked "This solved my question" (no offense directed towards baltwo). The question just seems to be more defined, not resolved. This is an Apple OS problem (seemingly) and needs to be directed towards a technical representative, not the community. I would ask that if anyone knows how to push this issue towards Apple, that is where the solution lies.
File a bug report with Apple via feedback. Do note that this goes through marketing and sales. No telling when it'll get to engineering. Alternatively, if you want to report this issue directly to Apple's engineering, bypassing marketing and sales, send a bug report or an enhancement request via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, register as an Apple Developer—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. You'll get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering and you'll be able to track its status.

  • How does syncing Notes work with Mountain Lion ?

How does syncing Notes with Mountain Lion?

Notes are synched via IMAP.  IMAP is a protocol most frequently used by email.
So if you have an iCloud account and have set up a @me.com email address, that's what is used to sync.  For Gmail, that can be used as well, though Gmail's IMAP support has to be enabled on their site and their implementation is very nonstandard and can be problematic.  Best is to sync notes via iCloud.

  • Screen sharing from iChat with Mountain Lion

I have not upgraded yet. I want to, but I am concerned that I will no longer have the ability to screen shard with my parents out of state.
I utilize iChat to control my parents computer, they live out of state and are not too computer savvy, this has been a life saver for me. Does Mountain Lion have a feature like this or is it gone with iChat? Is there a video chat option, or am I stuck with facetime???

    Hi,
    Yes.
You have to use the same iChat ID as you do now.  (AIM or Jabber based)
You have to (it's just easier) have the Buddy lists on View (by default they are not)
Yahoo was added for iChat 6 and is in Messages but does not do A/V chats
iMessage (the new Apple Services between Apple iOS devices and Macs with Mountain Lion) is also Text only.
You have to be able to do A/V Chats.
Speed-wise over the Internet this has to at least 128kbps (the same as a Video Chat on a 1-1 basis)
Another way to view this is that Messages is iChat with the iMessages ability shoehorned in and with a main interface change.
When you first start up Messages it tends to push you to enter an Apple ID to "register it" for the iMessage service.
If you migrate an older OS's User Account to the computer the System Preferences > Mail, Contacts and Calendars (New Preference Pane) picks up on email and other IDs which tends to mean they get added to Messages for you.
You can of course add Screen Names and IDs using the + Button in Messages menu > Preferences Accounts like you do in iChat.
This tends to mean the Messages Menu > Preferences > Accounts looks very familiar
The Window Menu can look a little different.
CMD + 0 brings up the Messages main window (A Chat Window that does tabbed Chats and an Interface all rolled into one)
Once you have other non iMessages Accounts then CMD + 1 brings up Buddies (A combined Buddy List). It is not listed until they are logged in.
They can be unlinked in the General Section of the Preferences at the "Gather all Accounts into one List" line.
Your "desktop" can then look like iChat used to:-

  • Email Setup MAC (Mountain Lion) and IPhone4

We continue to have issues when setting up email on MAC Mail (especially with Mountain Lion) and IPhone4.  It works just great on all our existing devices, and on outlook on PC, but boy, that MAC Mail and iPhone are just getting impossible.  Thank God for JING to send screenshots to convince ADOBE help that I am not just making typos...  Nevertheless, they have been unable to help me get these accounts setup--needless to say, our clients aren't very happy.
If anyone has any suggestions, they would be much appreciated!!  It's been a rough week with this email stuff.

    Thanks Mario,
Yes you are correct.  It did have to do with the MAC settings. It seems SMTP problems with Mountain Lion are not uncommon.  I also went into System Preferences  Network>WiFi>Advanced Hardware>Manually> MTU: Custom > 1300.  After playing with the server port (25) and the authentication (not SSL) but password--as was shown in the directions that were provided, I did get it to work.  That all did the trick!
The day I was contacting support, the MAC couldn't detect the servers--and then, of course, we had the email problems again, so it was pretty hard to figure out exactly what was going wrong.   I guess we are going to be using gmail from now on.

  • Has anyone use camptune x with mountain lion even though says it does not support it yet

HAs anyone used camptune x with mountain lion even though it is not yet specific to moutain lion yet?

Tried it yesterday on my imac 21Jan 2013 running mountain lion 10.8.2, total disaster.
Backed up my boot camp image using winclone (great programme)
Purchased and ran camptune x and everything went fine.
Rebooted into windows 7 and recieved error messages find--set--root--ignore floppies--ignore cd/bootmgr
    ERROR 15
Gave me a list of options on screen but none resolved the issue.
Booted back into winclone and used the backup image i had just created to reinstall on bootcamp.
Have emailed the company but have had no reply as yet

  • New RMBP shipping with mountain lion?

Just received email that custom RMBP is being delivered in UK on 19/7/12. Does anyone know if it will ship with Lion (with a free upgrade to come) or with Mountain Lion pre installed?

I called in once and I think I remember them saying that if you purchase a new computer close enough to the release date of Mountain Lion that you are eligible for a free Upgrade.  Ah, here! The following is from www.apple.com/osx/uptodate
The OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date upgrade will be available at no additional charge from the Mac App Store to all customers who purchase a qualifying new Mac system from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 11, 2012.
Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 11, 2012 and the date when Mountain Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from the date Mountain Lion becomes available to make their Up-To-Date request.
Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac after Mountain Lion becomes available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from the date they purchase their Mac to make their Up-To-Date request.
When Mountain Lion becomes available in July, come back to this page to request your copy of Mountain Lion.
    End Quote!
Go back to that website when Mountain Lion is available and you'll be able to request the free upgrade if you purchased between June 11, 2012 and when ML comes out.

  • I have Minimac with OSX Server - can I reload it with Mountain Lion?

I have a minmac and runs OSX Server. I do need the server control so can I go ahead and restore with Mountain Lion?

Actually, when you install Mountain Lion client, the Lion version
of Server and its components will be quarantined as an incompatible
app and could then be disposed of.
So either delete before or delete after willl work.

  • Displaying the number of files in a folder with Mountain Lion?

I recently purchased a new iMac with Mountain Lion and I pretty much hate it. I have been a fan of just about EVERY update, so I am not resistant to change. I just think this is an inferior product. It is slow, clunky, and the update alerts remind me of everything that I hated about PCs. Meh.
Anyway, one of the main problems I have with it is that in previous versions, when I opened a folder, there was a little bit of information at the bottom of the folder that told me how many files were in that folder. As a photographer, I use this information ALL THE TIME. I realize I can click on the folder and "get info" to see how many files are in it...but this is extremely inefficient (especially considering how slow the brand new system is -- in spite of the 3.4 Hz processor and 16GB of RAM).
I can't seem to find anything in the preferences that allows me to change this. If there is a way, I would greatly appreciate it if someone would tell me how! Thank you!
