Email question for E72 owners

Before buying I'd really appreciate knowing if there is a way to access your email on the E72 without using the Nokia Messaging service. Using the Nokia Messaging program is fine, but can you just define a direct link to your IMAP, POP and MfE accounts, with no restriction on number of messages or days stored, and save the messages to your memory card? Thanks.

Great, thanks for the info. I have an E71 and a N97, and I've tried Nokia Messaging; html is great and all, but I need to keep several hundred messages on my phone going back for a few months, and I also can't take the chance that the Nokia servers are down or there is a delay at all in receiving something, so I always wind up back with the standard text client. I only need push email on my MfE account, which is pushed anyway, so if the E72 can act like a standard client I can forgo getting a Blackberry. I heard mixed accounts of how this works on the E75, so I was worried the E72 might adopt some problems. Thanks again.

  • Question for T20 owners regarding aux input

I'm hoping someone with T20s can answer a simple question for me. When you have two different sources plugged into the main input and the aux input, do you hear both mixed together? Or, does plugging in the aux "cut off" the main input? I've got two computers and I'd like to pipe both into just one set of speakers, and I've heard using reverse splitter adapters is a bad idea. All help is appreciated. Thanks! :-)

I'm not an audio expert but here goes. The aux does not cut off the primary input for the speaker, and you can hear both sources at once. (I have my laptop plugged into the rear and an MP3 player feeding the aux input)? I don't know that it's really a great idea since you could probably overload the speakers quickly if both sources are playing, even with transient spikes, but if you keep the volume reasonable, it probably may work fine. Best of luck.

  • Email question for a personal curve

    Hi all,
i will be receiving my 8330 curve from Verizon Wireless in a few days.
My question is this -- i am using this for my personal email.  no enterprise/work stuff.  Do I still have to keep my computer on at home in order to receive the emails on the blackberry?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forums.
No, your PC does not need to be on.  If you install Desktop Manager on your PC, do NOT select the 'Desktop Redirector' option (or the Enterprise option).  The Redirector option causes more problems than I have counted.
You should create a BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) account following these steps:  http://blackberryfaq.net/index.php/How_to_add_/_delete_email_addresses
Then you're email will get delivered to your BB anywhere you have coverage.

  • A few questions for Iphone Owners...

Ive watched the videos, ive read the forums for a few days now, but still have some questions.
    1) can you record your phone calls from the iphone? I havent seen anyone mention this. Can you at least record memos with it or do you have to make memos with text only?
Its nice to be able to be somewhere and record a voice memo.
    2) One thing I hate about verizon is the minute long triad people get after they hear my voice mail greeting. At least when i had sprint I could go into advanced options and turn off all the crap after my voice mail greeting to spare the poor caller anymore of his/her time after my greeting. Is there a way to do this with AT&T? I swear its the wireless carriers trying to milk more than a minute out of you so they can get another minute to bill you for when you call someone from your cell phone.
    3) Lastly, how is the picture quality with the phone? Ive owned a LG chocolate, a razor, a ppc 6700, a sanyo , etc and Ive yet to even be partially impressed with a camera phone. I think my LG is the closest Ive ever got to a "okay " picture. Im not picky, just a picture that isnt blurry would be nice. Is it that much to ask to take a picture of a kid that is hardly moving and not have it be blurry? Or one outside that doesent become washed out from the bright light? Im not sure what people are even using camera phones for, but Im guessing they are about as usefull as web browsers in previous cell phones (ie, worthelss). Does the iphone hold its own in this regard or is the same old cellphone camera as the rest of them?
Thanks for any replies. Just as a side note, one of the reasons im looking at the iphone is one I havent seen anyone list on the apple forum. UPDATES! Im no apple fanboy, but I give them credit for constantly fixing/improving the ipod and listening to the customers. If there is one reason above any other for owning the iphone, its that I belive apple will constantly be fixing/improving/ etc the iphone throughout its life cycle and you cant say that about any other phone mfg. The most you get out of them is some firmware updates if there is a serious flaw. And even then they only are fixing it becuase they advertised it and if they dont fix it they will get sued. My 2 cents anyway..

    1) There is no voice nor video recording functionality on the iPhone
    2) Sorry but I haven't actually tried voicemail yet from an incoming caller's perspective. The visual voicemail system itself is fantastic though - to be able to pick and choose the messages you want to hear in any order is great.
    3) The screen on the iPhone is absolutely stunning. I actually just stared at the picture of the Earth from space that is on the screen prior to activation just because it looked so good. Videos also play very nicely though with the enhanced resolution of this screen, you will notice conversion artifacts more easily than on the much smaller regular iPod screen. But this is not an iPhone issue but rather due to the parameters set by the end user when converting video.
I am very happy I got this phone and with knowing how well Apple handles software updates, I know even this version 1.0 hardware will get even better.

  • Email question for Lumia 928

    Hello,
After responding to an email, my phone saves the sent email address.  So, even if I am only going to send 1 email to that address, it is permanently stored on my phone.  Is there are way to remove those email addresses from my phone and make sure that they (and other unwanted) email address do not auto save?  BTW, they do not show up in my "people" app.
    Thanks in advance.

No, history of mail addressee is a rollover and it will be removed once the queue is full. Except for carrying out a complete phone reset you can't erase this unfortunately.

  • Question for MacBook Owners...

Sorry to bother you, but I am in my early 20's, fresh with student loans and cannot qualify for a Mac Credit Card...
Do you know if Apple has payment plan options other than on their credit card? (This would be my first Apple Comp, switching from Gateway) and any response would greatly help. Thank you.
    Gateway Laptop   Windows XP   N/A

Apple does offer finance plans and they do every now and then offer specials on financing. For instance, interest free over 10 months.
Probably the best thing you can do is to call the Apple Store and ask then what they can offer you that suits your budget.

  • Network question for PC owners.

Hope you can help ? I'm a newbie when it comes to networking. I have a desktop PC with cable modem and Airport extreme connected wirelessly to my PC laptop. All is working fine. Internet on both machines great. Both are XP pro using WPA2 encription.
Now...I want to share drive or folders between the two. How do I proceed ? I don't want to use the APX disc share for it,s FAT32 limitation.
Everything in this forum seems to PC to Mac or Mac to PC. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Hello Kevin Bakey. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I am assuming that the desktop PC is connected to the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) via Ethernet. If so, then all you need to do is to enable File & Printer Sharing on both PCs, and then, share the particular folders on each that you want to access from the other.

  • Question for an owner of Zen Vision

I'm considering buying one and I like most of the things I've read. It's now between the iPod Video and Vision M. But I have an iRi'ver and there's a major problem with the random function. It will only play from about 200 songs, all with titles at the beginning of the alphabet, because I have a lot of music. I need a player that will select randomly from ALL of my songs. Can the Vision M do this? I'm pretty sure the iPod can.

everything they said is right, the player is awesome.............
    BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT
the vision m has been having some serious (and i do mean serious) reliability issues...tons and tons of failing units (known as the black screen of death somewhere around here) problem that neither CL nor the users have been able to solve. One day you are a happy camper with it and the next day BAM! the player is completely dead and the only solution there exists is to change it for a new one (RMA'ing it). To prove it you can just search within this forums or search in google for: zen vision m freezes or zen vision m freees booting and you will find some links directing here with topics of people who have had the same problem as me...a DEAD zen vision m...
hope i didnt spoiled the idea of getting one
    greetings

  • 720p question for existing owners

I was wondering what will happen if you try to export a 720/30p video instead of 720/24p. Will iTunes accept to upload it to the device, or will it bail out?
I know that the AppleTV supports up to 5Mbps 720/24p h.264 files. However, it is theoretically possible to export at 720/30p instead using a smaller bitrate (e.g. 4Mbps) and to still playback smoothly, because less bitrate means less data to decode and so it goes easier on the CPU. Problem is though, if iTunes does not even allow the user upload to the device such a 30p file, it's pretty limiting! You see, I have an HDV camcorder which shoots at 1080/60i and this means that the "right" exporting solution for 720p is 30 fps, not 24. If Apple has really restricted the ability to upload 720/30p videos from the get-go (without even taking bitrate into account), then people with HDV camcorders are screwed.
So, if someone has some time, please export a video to 720/30p instead of 720/24p **with 4mbps bitrate**, and please report back if iTunes allowed you to export it to the device, and if yes, does the device actually play the file smoothly or if at all?
    Thank you for your time.

Sorry, I don't agree. When I shoot at 1080/60i, I need 30fps. If I wanted to export at the jerky, non-native IVTC 24fps, I would shoot that way. But I don't.
Your 720p/24fps movies are jerky because you have converted them from 30 fps not because 24 fps is jerky, the conversion you are undertaking is removing frames some software is better than others at this but none of it will ever make a good job of it.
If you want smooth 24 fps playback you need to shoot at 24 fps.
If your source is already 30 fps you need to convert it to 960 x 540 @ 30 fps and not 1280 x 720 @ 24 fps to make it compatible.
Incidentally, I've found that the tv seems to accept 720p/25fps even though this is outside of the specs.

  • Question for 5530 owners

Does your phone light up when you receive a text message?

Well, AFAIK you cant remove the "add" until you fill all 20. You can leave only one if you like. As for apps, check out
https://store.ovi.com/ - create an account and edit your account settings by defining your phone as 5530, so that it will only show 5530 compatible apps

  • Email question for my Iphone

I just deleted folders in my yahoo account from my iphone. Is there a way to get them back?

Check your webmail for your Yahoo account and see if the folders still exist on Yahoo's server.  If they do, try deleting the account on your phone and recreating it.

  • Question for MBP owners that span their desktop

I recently ran into the following bug with the latest beta of Parallels (http://www.parallels.com):
With the PW console window in my main iMac display, the mouse and keyboard work as expected (need to hit Cntl-Option to release keyboard and mouse from the console window). When I drag the window to my second monitor (I span displays with my iMac), any mouse click within the console window will release the keyboard and mouse (rendering the mouse useless within the Guest OS).
I'm wondering if a MBP user can duplicate the same issue I am experiencing on my iMac.

That's tempting, but without full-screen and without video acceleration, I'm leary of putting time into it. I perused the forums briefly and it seemed (subject to my vague recollection) that there were a lot of shortcomings that the developers plan to address before the final release.
Maybe if I get bored enough… Like that's going to happen…

  • Quick question to 5310 owners: T9 languages

    Hello,
this is an easy question for 5310 owners. Can you tell me if there are both Dutch (Nederlands) and Italian T9 dictionaries on the 5310?
I live in the Netherlands but I am Italian, so I want to be sure, before I buy the phone here, that the Dutch model has the Italian dictionary (this was not the case in the 1600, but it is a much cheaper phone).
    Thanks in advance.

May be you can ask a retailer or a friend. Some retailers might bring a phone from a different country and sell in your country. So it's better to ask your retailer, but languages are firmware dependant most of the time and hence you might be able to get the desired languages by updating firmware too.

I hope my question is clear as to how to configure the email notification for backup completion in Oracle 11g.
Please revert with the reply to my query.
RegardsThere is about emailing that is specific to backups. It is simply an OS utility. Google 'sendmail' and 'mailx'. Have your backup job (or any other job) create a log file, then use the OS mail utility to email that log file.
