Email read/unread with Comcast

Is anybody having a problem using Comcast Smartzone and having emails marked as read on the Comast web interface?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Yes, as GregCT09 wrote, the issue is reading on the BB and then going to the Smartzone (or not Smartzone) and it is still marked as unread. The old Comcast updated, as I read it on the BB it was automatically marked as read on the Comcast email web interface. I agree, go back to the old, or better yet, fix the new. I have been told by Comcast that corporate does read the "Tell us what you think" submissions from the lower right corner of the Smartzone page. Maybe if enough people complain they might do something about it.

  • Email Read/Unread not working properly in ios7

After upgrading to ios 7 I would get a new email (marked unread - obviously) and I would then open it to read it.  The system would mark it as read and then when I close the email the system would mark it as Unread.  So, I have to open it and read it again so the system would mark it as read.  Very frustrating.

I have the same problem.. Can't play or pause the music when you activate the quick control centre....

  • Droid RazR Maxx - pop email not working (with Comcast)

On 10/14/2014 my phone starting giving me a message "couldn't sign in" message saying username or password invalid. However, I have used the same username/password via the web and other email clients, so that is NOT the problem. I've searched and searched but have not found anything. I called Comcast and they said they could reset my password, which obviously isn't the problem, and if that didn't work to call Verizon. I've completely removed the email account and tried to setup again and now it gives me the same message during the incoming setup process.
Anybody else experiencing this problem? It's been 2.5 days and no luck resolving despite many attempts.
    Thanks

        durginpark,
Oh no! Sorry that your Comcast email isn't working. I had to do some research on this one myself. As an Android user, and someone who knows a decent amount about this type of stuff, I was stumped. So I reached out to Comcast myself as well. They advised to use the Xfinity App that is available in Google Playstore and sign in with the App to receive all the Emails going forward. This is also listed as an option in Xfinity Website Support Page. Were you previously just using the email app that came with the phone? Try the Xfinty App and see if that works.

  • NO LUCK sending email (with Comcast) via the EDGE Network

Cannot Send E-Mail via EDGE Network
My primary email account is with Comcast, and using my iPhone with any Wi-Fi network I am successfully able to send/receive email.
However, using the EDGE network I cannot send email. I found a tip on appending a port number to the outgoing mail setting (smtp.comcast.net), but this didn't work either.
I consistently get one of these two error messages:
"Sender address [email protected] was rejected by the server"
    -or-
"The connection to the server 'smtp.comcast.net' failed"
I can receive email with either EDGE or Wi-Fi networks.
Any suggestions? I need to be able to not only receive but also SEND email via the EDGE network.
    Any help will be appreciated!
    Tim

Your other option is to sign up for a free GMail account, and use their outgoing server. You need to create your account on the iPhone using the "Other" shortcut, which allows you to specify your comcast address, your comcast incoming mail server, but the GMail outgoing server. This will work with both Edge and WiFi.

  • How to mark emails as unread/read with MFE?

    Hi folks,
I am a newbie on MFE running on a Nokia E71. Works great but I havent figured out how to mark emails as unread.
Any suggestions where to find this function in the MFE client?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Jesper

I don't know how this feature works in Outlook / Entourage... knowing Microsoft, it's probably proprietary and does not follow certificate standards, but that's a guess. If they used standard certificate technology, in order for you to send mail encrypted to your client, she would have to have sent you a digitally signed message. Then, you can send her an encrypted e-mail. If you start an e-mail message to her, is the little lock icon to the right of the From field black or gray? If it's black, you've already got her certificate, and just have to click that lock to encrypt the message. If it's not, you don't have her certificate, and she will need to send you a signed message.

  • ActiveSync Issues - Emails remain unread on iPhones after marked as read in OWA/Outlook

    Environment:
    Exchange 2010 SP2 CU4v2
    iPhones with IOS 6.0+
    Background:
We've spent a couple weeks troubleshooting this since the vast majority of our users are not experiencing the email synching issue with their mobile devices. However, we have a few users that are remote (international) saying that activesync is not properly
marking mail as read when initially interacting with it via OWA/Outlook.
The problem isn't regularly reproducable -- it's sporadic.
    There are two issues really:
The mail icon indicates X number of unread messages, however when navigating into the mailbox on the phone, nothing is "unread" -- There is only one mailbox -- there is no confusion about unread mail being in a different account.
Mail marked as read in OWA/Outlook never gets marked as read in the mailbox on the iPhone.
    Steps Taken:
We've had them remove/readd the activesync account on their device, which initially solves the problem only for it to resuface.
We've asked them to change their activesync settings between Push, Fetch, and Manual.
Messages marked as unread always remain unread unless manually opened on the phone. No additional amount of time marks the message as unread unless it is manually opened on the phone.
We've asked users to try interacting with mail through wifi on a reliable network instead of their cellular network. Same results.
We don't have any other mobile devices to compare to since everyone is using an iPhone. If only someone had windows mobile.
Our thoughts are that this is due to some sort of latency issue that activesync is unable to handle, since only these remote users are experiencing the issue. Using in-office wifi the latency between their device and the CAS server is ~250ms. Over cellular
networks.. unknown. I would think the activesync could handle this.
Are there any server-side settings that can be changed on the exchange servers that could mitigate these problems?

Im sure more knowledgeable members will chime in here, but I would say the issue is in ios 6.0 here. The way to test would be if users on previous verison of ios have the same issue. There are various discussions on apples forums regarding ios 6.0 and activesync/
exchange. Myself personally I have not updated to ios 6.0 and im still using 5.1.1 and Ive not had any exchange/activesync issues. Being a windows user you tend to hold off on major updates / SP releases until the rest of the masses have discovered the flaws.
Likewise i cant say im keen to jump to ios 6.0 just yet.

  • Read/Unread Email

I have just been abroad to another country and avoided opening any of my emails until returning home. I then opened each one but have been left with an "unread email" notification on my home screen that i cannot get rid of. I have deleted all of my emails in the hope that it would go but it is still there...
Does anyone know how i can get rid of it?
    Many thanks in advance

It means that KB does not apply to your situation. Honestly, most folks find the errant message by going through all of the folders...there are tons of folders to go through and it takes quite a while to do so...and is very tedious, having to go back and forth through the BBKey > View Folders command over and over again (without, I might add, losign ones place while doing so!).
Perhaps it is something else? Can you provide a detailed description of exactly what the unread indicator looks like?
Occam's Razor nearly always applies when troubleshooting technology issues!

  • How can I sort my email by read/unread?

Is it possible to sort the email list by read/unread?

IF you are using webmail https://mail.verizon.com/webmail/driver?nimlet=showmessages&view=emails unread should be in BOLD , but I do not see any way to sort.
I use zohomail free version http://email.about.com/od/Zoho-Mail/fr/Zoho-Mail-Review-Free-Email-Service.htm  to send and receive Verizon email and it includes an unread folder.

  • Firefox Web Browser connectivity and email issues with Comcast connection

I have been having an issue with Firefox conecting through Comcast both to xfinity home and especially to email for the past 2 to 3 months. I finally solved the problem. Comcast requires no proxy setting. To solve the problem go to Firefox Tools, click on Options, click on the tab Advanced. Click on Settings, the check the box for "No proxy". Click Ok. And that did it! Am I glad. Reading email was getting very tedious with all the waiting.

  • Does "read / unread status" work consistently with the current version of iPad os and Exchange?

I'm having issues with "read / unread" email status syncing successfully between iOS devices and Outlook/Exchange.
Reading an email on the iPad only marks the email as "read" on Outlook about 50% of the time, and vice versa.
Syncing "red flags" on emails is inconsistent as well.
I'm unsure if this is just a quirk with iPad / iOS, or if this is an issue my hosted Exchange provider needs to look into.
Does read/unread sync work consistently for the rest of you? Thanks.\
The iPad is on 6.01. Unsure what version of Exchange the provider is running.
    Thanks

We run Exchange 2010 with Activesync and we don't notice any issues with our exchange setup.  Either on iPhones or iPads.

    Question
firefox has detected the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. This is happening in my email program with comcast but does not happen with IE e edit

Thanks to cor-el for the suggestion given in the link. Sadly I have to report:
    1) It is not a bookmark problem and it makes no difference whether I put
www.adobe.com or 192.150.18.117 in the address bar.
    2) Cookies are allowed and there are no exceptions set
    3) All cookies have been deleted
    4) network.http.sendRefererHeader is already set to 2
That deals with the items in the linked document.
    Additional information:
    5) I can get into the adobe site from a clean "in memory" installation of PuppyLinux using Seamonkey using the same router and dhcp setup.
    6) un-installing all Mozilla products - rebooting and re-installing makes no difference even when I remove the mozilla folder from docs&settings.
so as I said in previous post (as annonymous) not a lot makes sense.
Bear in mind that I have no problem running tracert in a command window

Do you think it might be possible that your phone is a 3G instead of a 3GS?  The reason for asking whether this is a possibility is because 3G iPhones cannot be updated any further than ios 4.2.1.  3G and 3GS are very similar in external appearance.  One way to tell the difference is that the 3G cannot record videos in the camera app, while the 3GS can do this.
Another way to tell is by introducing your model or serial number in the Apple Support page that identifies your iPhone.
