Email sending count seems additive with Mavericks

I have noticed in Mac Mail with Mavericks that when I send email using one of my POP accunts, that the number of messages reported with the progress bar seems to increase each time I do it.
For example today I sent a single email and it reported 1 of 1 sending. I've now sent 4 emails out and the last one reported 4 of 4 sending. It doesn't seem to actually be sending multiple emails, but this additive effect is bothersome. Is this a known bug or is there someway to stop it so that it only reports out the actual number of email being sent out each time?

A lot of people are reporting this and also huge amounts of incoming mail when only one e-mail is received.
Go to Mail/Provide feedback to report a bug.

Email sends correctly but shows with a 'Red X' on it with an undefined error

As the title, for the past few days when ever I send an email a red X appears by the email with an undefined error. The email sends correctly however. No changes were made that I am aware of. Any suggestions on what this is?

Everything seems OK with Mavericks and WD external HD

I'm reading about tons of problems with Mavericks and WD external drives. Most mention WD software glitches.
I have a 2T WD My Book USB external HD. After upgrading to Mavericks (two weeks now), I haven't experienced and data loss at all, and all my partitions have retained their names and icons. They all check out OK in Disk Utility. I did have a Finder glitch once where I could not Copy/Paste any file over several several MB., (error 8057) but a restart fixed it. As far as know, that was only from one partition. I have had some video issues launching .avi and .mkv with an 'app not found' error. Making VLC the default for the those files in Get Info seems to have solved that (except the icons remain Quicktime). Previously when launching .avi files QuickTime did not launch and attempt to convert it.
For now, I'm regarding the video thing as a separate issue.
When I got my WD USB ext. a year ago, I did not install ANY WD software. I simply formatted to HFS+ and partitioned in Disk Utility and was good to go. Is it safe to say that since I don't have any of that pre-Mavericks software installed (I double checked with Spotlight), that my external drive is safe? Or should I run out and get a solid state drive ASAP? Is it also fairly safe to think that since I went through the upgrade unmolested and it's been two weeks now that everything is probably OK?

Yup, that's exactly what I meant. It comes preinstalled.

Using a counter in addition with variable substitution

i'm having a problem where i can not find a nice 'standard' solution. I'm also not sure if it is possible what i want.
I'm using a receiver file adapter and sending a .CSV file. The naming convention of this file is: %delivery&-(counter).csv.
The filling of the delivery is no problem, also the counter is added. But i want the counter to continue counting. Let me explain what happens now.
Delivery 80000100 is sent by SAP R/3.
Generated file name: 80000100-0001.csv
Delivery 80000100 is sent again by SAP R/3 (a change).
Generated file name: 80000100-0002.csv
Delivery 80000101 is sent by SAP R/3.
Generated file name: 80000101-0001.csv
In the last situation i do not want the 0001, but i want the 0003. Is this possible ?

We have implement exactly similar scenario.....
What we did is maintain the counter in a database table field. In the mapping use a dblookup to fetch the last number.. then carry out a function which will carry out dynamic config for filename set.. and then another db call to set the counter incrementing by one...
The code for setting filename by dynamic config is:

Email sending is not working with utl_smtp (migrated from 9i to 11g)

Podcast email - send the same link with different Podcasts

I have started using the podcast email function after my upgrade to OS3.0 on my iPhone 3G
I sent one podcast link via email, now every time I send a link to the podcasts (in this podcast subscription) it sends the SAME FIRST LINK
Why does this happen? Has anyone else had this problem?

Looks like I am mistaken. It sends a link for the podcast, whereas I thought it was per podcast in the subscription. Bugger, feature improvement?

Ever since I "upgraded" my OS to Mavericks, applications that used to work don't work anymore. It is frustrating. Now I find yet one more thing that doesn't work with Mavericks: my dot mac email account.
Should I be changing my .mac email account to dot iCloud, and how do I do that?
My trusty MacBook is starting to look more and more like Windows with all its "improvements" I'm not very happy. What can I do now?

I don't know how rare this is. I went a week or so without a problem, and now it's starting to recur. Also, in some instances, an email will look unsent (remain in the outbox on the Treo), but it has been sent, and recipients are replying while I'm trying to figure out what is going on. Further, it will send the same email over and over during this madness.
This is a show stopper. If there isn't a software fix soon, I may chuck this phone in the garbage.

UPDATE: The problem comes and goes. The next day, no changes to the treo, everything workeds. Now i'm suspecting the sprint server, and how it/the phone responds from failing to send while roaming. I've since turned off roaming, and haven't had a problem for several days.

I have been having problems with addressing group emails I think only since Maverick. I have been unable to drag the group or copy the addresses into the "To" or "cc".
However if I have 2 groups (Say "Family Close" and "Family Others" if one TYPES Family in the "To" space the alternative are shown and when one clicks on one of these the "Bolded" group is shown and can be expanded etc

There was away (before Mavericks) I could single click on an email and it would highlite but not open. I could either delete or second click and the email would then open. Can anyone tell me how to configure the prevue pane to that end with Mavericks?

With Mavericks that doesn't seem to be available making it impossible to delete an email in the prevue pane before I open it. Its frustrating to have to go through all the monkey motions when I know I want to delete it from the get-go. Does anyone know who to configure for that operation? I'm using an iMac.

I run TWO programs for protection of my MAC now and have been for sometime b/c developers of them become complacid thinking MAC is impermeable.
My MAC locked me out of it and two externals and when I finally did get back into them Norton Anti-Virus found a "worm." When I asked the program to find the origin, it was traced back to an email, as you said, that I opened unintentionally. I still have two external HDs for backup and a cloud backup now.
When ClamX ran after Norton was finished, ClamX found what it called as "spyware," and it's origin was in my email also. I tried to delete the emails after the programs (both) identified the infected files, however once deleted and the computer is restarted, they were still there because I ran the scans again.
Now since we are no longer talking about how to turn on and off the view pane in apple mail; riddle me this, why can't the developers of these antivirus and antispyware/malware programs get together and develop ONE PRODUCT that catches 90-95% of the viruses/worms/spyware/malware ect that get onto MAC's? Is it because they are too busy thinking they don't exist?

Thanks, I was thinking so. I installed my CS4 from a CD in 2008, and it looks like Adobe has taken another approach to selling their products. I'll be downloading CC Photoshop a little later today.

Feature request: Select emails by count-from-sender

Please allow me to select emails by count? e.g. indexing all the senders and counting the emails received from each.
Here's how that would help:
When it comes to free up a few Gigs of space in disk and improve Mail's performance, selecting thousands of emails from a few big senders is more effective than attempting the crazy task of bothering ourselves with finding just undreds of emails from hundreds of small senders!
Most of the emails we'd like to be able to handle without deleting them nor letting them to fall into the spam filter's claws, are the ones we ACTUALLY suscribed to, but never had the time to recover the password, login to them, update the email preferences (most times tricky or falsely advertised as "editable", or just impossible)… a total mission certainly harder than just leting them come, and some day delete them all. After all, It's easy: selecting ALL the emails from facebook, hit delete. Done.
Now multiply that for tens of big senders, and it's a pain.
I want to select the emails by COUNT BY SENDER, and be able to slide up or down the threshold to select them.
Slide to the left, and all emails from senders with at least 2 emails sent will be selected.
Slide to the right and only emails from senders with e.g. 10 emails sent would be selected.
( Read or unread would be a good extra criteria )
That way, I don't need to go through the hundreds of small senders and wear out my brain thinking one by one whether to delete it or not, for what? to delete just a few hundred emails an hour!.
This way I can go through a few giants, and delete thousands at once.
Or is ther a way to do it (script? add-on? rule?) and I didn't find it?

The new Pages v5 (Mavericks) uses a new file format with the same extension name (.pages). Older versions of Pages cannot open these documents unless you first export them as Word (.docx) and send these as Mail attachments. The same is true if you originate an IOS Pages v2.01 .pages document.
You may be sending to people who chose not to install Pages v5 on Mavericks and continue to use Pages ’09 v4.3 instead — especially for the superset of features that are presently not in Pages v5.
