apple message when trying to send an email " email does not recognize username/password.
Go to iPhoto's Accounts preference pane, delete the email account and add it back.
The better solution, IMO, is to set Mail as iPhoto's email client in iiPhoto's General preference pane. That gives you better access to your Contacts, a sent copy and templates similar to iPhoto's in the stationary section of Mail. -

Email server does not recognize username/password
When I am in iphoto and want to share a picture via email, it comes back with email/server didn't recognize your username/password combination.
WHat version of iPhoto? For iPhoto '11 in the iPHoto preferences under accounts delete the account and re-enter it - you may need to contact tech support for you e-mail service for settings
Or IMHO the better solution is to simply set Mail as the default email client for iPhoto

Iphoto server does not recognize username/password combo. Is it my apple ID?
I'm trying to send a photo in iphoto. The error message reads: email server didn't recognize your username/password combination. Is it referring to my apple ID? how do I know which password? since I purchased this laptop I have had to use a million passwords for different things. OMG!! help me...I'm minutes away from throwing it out the window!
well, you need to find out what your pssword for this account is. Try a password manager like 1password for future reference. hope i helped.

I cannot email a photo from iphoto. A message comes up that says " email server did not recognize username / password combination ". There does not seem to be a way from inside iphoto to fix that. Any suggestions ?
Have you set Mail.app or iPhoto as Mail client in the iPhoto Preferences? Mail.app is working more reliable than iPhoto as mail client.

Email server does not recognise username/password combination.
When emailing photos from iPhoto I get a message saying the email server did not recognise my username or password combination.
I've tried selecting both my @me and @hotmail addresses and the same message appears. I'm also unable to email myself from iPhoto.
I've also tried emailing the photos from my Mail - but the iPhoto application uploads, rather than giving me the option to select individual images. I don't have any problems sending and receiving normal messages in Mail, and I have checked that my password/Apple ID is correct.
I'm clearly missing the blatently obvious here ... so any words of wisdom will be very much appreciated. Thanks ... I'll have a go at deleting the account and re-entering it.
To clarify - when using Mail, I have clicked on the Media Browser (top right), where my Iphoto images appear with a scroll bar. When I click on an image, a box appears with the image and a 'Play' button (as if It's a movie clip - which it isn't). I'm unable to attach it to the message.
As an alternative, I've also tried clicking on Attachment ... but when I click on iPhoto, the application logo uploads as the attachment. I can't fathom how to select individual images.
Does that make any sense ...?
Needless to say, I'm new to iMac. -
can anyone help me with this problem?

www.apple.com/support/mail

Suddenly I can no longer email photos directly via iphoto mail. The box comes up that says "server does not recognize username or password". I used to be able to re-size my photos before sending so that they jpeg or pixels were larger for publishing in newspapers or magazines, but I can no longer do that. Apple tech support told me to change my iphoto "preferences" to using regular email to send. But that does not allow me to re-size. Is anyone else having this problem? I don't know if there was an update that caused this or what? Please help.
The box comes up that says "server does not recognize username or password".
That error message usually will pop up, when there is a conflict between the "From" setting for the mail account you are sending from and the selected outgoing mail server. Probably the outgoing Mail server is receiving a user name and password it does not understand. When the mail returns unsent, do you see the "Try again" panel with the option to select a different outgoing mail server?
If you do not see this panel, change the Mail "Preferences > General" to "If Outgoing server is unavailable: Show a list of alternate servers". This way, you will know, which server Mail is trying to send from.
Have you tried to set "From" pop-up menu to one of your other email addresses? If that works, change your settings in Mail to always send from this address. You can set this option in the Mail "Preferences > Composing: Send New Messages from". I have my "Send New Messages from" set to "iCloud". That is working best for me with iPhoto. -
The email server does not recognize my username/password combination
the email server does not recognize my username/password combination
<Image Edited by Host>What server? What email are you talking about? You're not exactly providing a whole lot of details. I could assume you mean icloud and an icloud address, but no point in wasting time troubleshooting if you mean something else...
And what's up with the picture? -
I changed the password on my iphone yesterda and now i can't send mail on my Imac via My gallery : the message is: email server did not recognize username and password combination
I found that by turning of the SSL option at the bottom of the Accounts panel did the trick.

I keep getting a popup error message in Ical "server does not recognize name/password
I keep getting a popup error message in Ical "server does not recognize name/password" This started after they did the change to Icloud and extended our subcriptions.
TriciaI guess that the server name is incorrect, then.
Did it ever work?
Delete the account, reboot the phone, then add it back and be sure you choose Yahoo as the mail server type. Everthing should then fill in automatically except your user name and password. -
ICal error: Server does not recognize your password
Today I opened iCal on my iMac and I get an immediate error message saying that the "server does not recognize my password for my user name and says to make sure that it's entered correctly." I went to MobileMe in System Settings and everything was OK. I was able to see it on the MobileMe website but it still gives me the error message when I open iCal.
Today, I had this exact same issue. What helped was quitting iCal, deleting the cal.me.com password in keychain, starting iCal again, then entering it again in iCal preferences. It started syncing right after that.
People who don't have the cal.me.com password should check their general mobile me settings.
Ghostlarke: if you sync your calenders, you ARE using MobileMe. -
I have the same username and password for my Apple account and iCloud. My main email server is btinternet. When I try to share a photo by sending an email by iCloud I get a message "Server doesn't recognize username/password combination". Do I need to login to iCloud with my btinternet password?
Seeing others with same problem I have gone into iPhoto>Preferences>Accounts and changed password to btinternet password. It worked. Thanks.

Unable to send photos because server doesn't recognize username/password combo
Have a MacBook Air using iPhoto 9.5.1 and operating system OS X 10.9.3.
I have tried to share photos with email using my Yahoo account. I receive the following message whenever I attempt to send a photo "username/password not recognized by email server."
I have gone into my accounts numerous times in System preferences. My username/password combo is recognized there. I have also changed my password on Yahoo and in my accounts. But I still receive the above message.
Anyone have any suggestions?Have a current backup before proceeding here. Time Machine or otherwise.
If no outbound messages are sent... There are two different server definitions and two different places where you need a user and a password, the first and most obvious setting within mail is for receiving mail; the POP or IMAP setting. Everybody gets that one. To get to the credentials and the password used to send mail messages (the one that folks don't find as easily), Mail > Preferences > Accounts > select the account > switch the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) to "Edit SMTP Server List", then find the Yahoo SMTP server entry, then fix the password there.
Here's the Apple mail troubleshooting information.
If that fails, remove the entry and re-add it.
If smaller messages are sent correctly and larger messages are blocked, Yahoo may be restricting the size of the message(s) being sent. Try smaller messages as a test, or use a file sharing service to transfer the images, or maybe wait for the OS X Yosemite Mail Drop feature.
PS and FWIW, this message was originally posted in the OS X Server forum, and you're not running OS X Server here — OS X Server includes various network services, including a mail server — a mail server is what Yahoo is running here, but OS X Server allows folks to configure and run a mail server locally on a Mac Mini or some other Mac configured as a server. Your MacBook Air would then connect into that server, in addition to or in place of the Yahoo server. Like most other mail servers, the mail server within OS X Server can be configured to block larger messages, too.
