Email server - sendmail used for outgoing only?

an earlier poster indicated that sendmail for NT is only used for outgoing emails from the Oracle email server. Is this true? If so I should be able to use the Indigo sendmail for a proof-of-concept (30 free trial). Can't find any free trial for sendmail for NT.
However, the email server IG seems to have me changing the sendmail.cf file to point at the Oracle email system - seems to imply that inbound messages run thru sendmail and are forwarded to Oracle. In which case the Indigo send-only won't work.
What did everyone else do? By a copy of sendmail for NT at $500, or run on unix? Other alternatives?

How can I fix it so that it syncs with the correct email account for notes and calendar? There don't seem to be any settings available other than to check if you want to use the basic features. It also said during the set up that it was setting up 'find my mac' but if I look on the iCloud website there is nothing showing there for finding my mac.
At this point I feel like I wasted my money paying for this supposed upgrade. I got nothing for it but frustration. It even automatically set my security settings to allow only downloads from the Mac store so the first time I went to download something I had to stop what I was doing and go correct settings first. I feel like there should be a security setting to block downloads from the Mac store so I don't accidentally end up clicking the wrong thing and being charged.

iCloud isn't syncing them on your phone. You simply added the email account to your phone and enabled calendar and notes syncing with the email provider, and the calendar and notes appear in the calendar and notes apps on your phone. You can do this with Gmail, Yahoo and other IMAP account. iCloud email is just another IMAP account, but syncs notes with Apple's iCloud server just as Gmail syncs notes and calendars with Google's server.
iCloud didnt' set up a non-iCloud account on your Mac. When you check Mail in System Preferences>iCloud, it only creates an iCloud email account. You can also add other email accounts to your Mac by going to System Preferences>Mail,Contacts,Calendars and clicking on the "+" sign on the bottom of the left sidebar. If you added these other email accounts to your Mac before you upgraded to Mountain Lion, these were simply maintained on your Mac after you upgraded.

Most (if not all) of the bigger vendors has a product that supports Exchange 2013, so look them up.
Exchange 2013 has some Anti-Spam and Anti-Malware Protection functionality that you can read about here:

Restart the device (hold power + home until the Apple logo appears) or just turn it off (hold the power button until the red swip bar appears and swipe) and then back on.
If that doesn't fix it, you can try a restore from backup or setting it up as new.

I've recently set up IDE for openHAB2 and built it successfully.
openHAB dashboard & paper UI are web application.
But I can't find any web server settings in openHAB project.
Which web server is used for them?

This is probably rather a question for the openHAB 2 mailing list. But to answer: Jetty is used in openHAB 2 as you can see here https://github.com/openhab/openhab2/blob/master/products/org.openhab.product.runtime/org.openhab.runtime.product.product#L57.
And yes, you can certainly add custom REST endpoints. You should do this as it is done with the default REST endpoints like https://github.com/eclipse/smarthome/blob/master/bundles/io/org.eclipse.smarthome.io.rest.core/src/main/java/org/eclipse/smarthome/io/rest/core/binding/BindingResource.java.

Controlling which email address is used for group members?

Howdy Folks,
Is there a way to control which email address is used for contacts that you have put into a group in Address Book?
For example, say John Smith is a member of an Address Book group I have created. John's Address Book entry contains two email addresses for him, one for work and one for home.
When I send an email to the group I want to have it sent to John's work email address.
I have experimented by editing the entry and making sure the desired address is the first one listed for the individual in question, but that doesn't do the trick.

It sounds like you are unable to reset your security questions but do not have access to your rescue email address. According to the following article you will need to contact the iTunes Store support team:

Outgoing Email server not working for iPhoto

All I want to be able to do is send myself hi-res images from iPhoto. It's telling me "The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination." I have tried every combination under the sun.
At one point it prompted me for an outgoing server and I put in the one from my phone...that was probably the wrong thing to do...but I cannot seem to change it, despite several attempts at setting up all my different email addresses and deleting and trying again.

How other email server (sendmail) will make connection to Exchange 2010 mutli role server.

We have 2 Exchange 2010 multi role server and one load balancer for Cas array.
Now we do understand that DAG will be using for database and CAS can be in HA mode via Load balancer.
Now question is, we do have other non-microsoft email server with same smtp address so when this sendmail server will try to make connection to exchange 2010, which server name/ip we need to give them.
Will it be DAG ip/name or do we need to give both server IP.

you can use whatever Ip's are listening on port 25 on the 2010 hub transports.
If your load balancer is listening on port 25 and balancing that (probably only a https loadbalancer?) you can use that ip.
If not you can put your 2 cas server IP's in the smart host connector from the sendmail box.
It certainly wont be the DAG ip as the mailbox role has nothing to do with the hub transport.
Foremost i don't have separate CAS here, I do have 2 Exchange(cas/HT/MBX) and DAG is configured.
when sendmail send email to Exchange i need to use some common smtp address to point these servers, so that if one goes down sendmail server can still make connection via that common name.
i can not put two name space(since these 2 exchange are HT server as well) for sendmail server. Any suggestion .

i have just received a spam message, that includes my username from this forum, and sent to the registered email account i use with this forum.
that mean there is a security breach, which i think should be dealt with severely and promptly.
just to note:
- there is no connection between my name and email address (for obvious reasons)
- i am active and registered on extremely few internet sites.
- i never connect same username and address.
So problem comes from here. needs immediate solution. being a human being and a French, i despise spam and will not stand any attack to my privacy.

At LAVA i have same username but different adress.
The adress i published was different for obvious reasons. i am always trying to be very carefull with this stuff. i never mix for example professional and personal emails. all servers are kept appart, and i have a 'dump' email for transfering all information. up to now this seems to have worked perfectly. The thing is that every time there is a breach from somewhere, it is the start of a new wave of spam and unsolicited messages, that i have to find ways to kill.
In this case, i changed a while ago the forum related email , because server has crashed (yes due to spam - btw this is the email you have of me - not reliable anymore, so pm me for another one). so i changed it to my 'dump' email, as a temporary solution. this one up to now never ever had spam. until today. and that means i have to rethink my whole policy.
and yes - this is the only forum (or entity for that matter), that uses this email directly.

Backscatter? my server beeing used for spam

Hi, im pretty new too running OS X server and using the build in postfix server.
Im having trouble with spam beeing sent from my server, the mail is tagget with Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender, so they are sending it too my server in hopes of getting it returned back as spam.
I have been reading alot about this and i still dont understand what i should do. is there a way of just turning off the Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender function ?

You would have to look through your mail logs to determine what was really happening. The "Undelivered Mail.." flag is an old tactic of spammers to get people to open emails containing viruses and the like, so that may not really be the issue at all. It could even be an email client is set to bounce emails when the sender is unknown that is causing the problem.
Spammers will also masquerade email accounts and send spam from other servers and the bounces will come back to the legitimate (your) email address. Checking the mail logs will be the first place to look, along with looking at the full header for the emails in question.
There are also possible real causes for getting those emails, including that one of your email accounts has been compromised and spammers are using that to send emails from that account. Again, checking the logs and message headers can yield some clues.
Check your Mail Service settings, particularly your Relay settings to allow only known networks to access the mail service. Investigate implementing SPF (Sender Policy Framework) and using RBL's (Real-Time Blacklists) to secure your server from being an open relay and cut out the spam from know spammer servers.

Fax line used for outgoing calls when incomming fax not coming in?

So is there a way to do this? Can I route the 1 FXO to FXS for incomming calls (and plug fax into FXS) or something like this and then use that line as an outgoing line when not in use?
I don't need step but steps but the basics of how something like this could be configured would be awesome!!!

I'm not sure if I understand. I set this up, so I understand phone systems enough to do this, but I don't really don't know the terminoligy.
Let me back up.
Currently our business has 2 lines and a fax line. Right now the two lines are plugged into 2 FXO ports and the fax line is just plugged into the fax machine--not the UC320. We're in mixed mode, not pbx specifically. We get one or two faxes a day and we send two or 3 faxes a day. We'd like to be able to use the fax line for outgoing calls when it's not being used for fax.
So I need to be able to control the in and the out of the fax line. I need all incomming calls for the fax number routed to what I assume would be the FXS port (with the fax machine plugged into the FXS port), and none of the other lines routed in this way (the other lines would go to the attendant).
Then I need if we send a fax, we need for when the fax machine opens the line for it to automatically be routed to the fax line. Then the fax machine can dial and send faxes. I think we send few enough faxes that we're not too worried about what happens if we try to send a fax and the phone is busy, but it would be nice to be able to look at a phone and tell if the fax line is in use.
I don't really care if the Fax line is part of a shaed FXO, it can be a seperate choice on the phone for making outgoing calls (one of the buttons next to the screen or something).
Is all this possible? Is it only possible in PBX style or is mixed ok?
