HOW THE  ************** Do I set up nokia messaging on the 5800? Please if somone can help me I shall burn an effigy in your honour.
First A person in the UK CANNOT set up a Nokia mail account.  You go to email.nokia.com, you select your device and enter your phone number.  Supposedly you receive a text message with a link to somthing or other, IT NEVER ARRIVES.  The site then instructs you to navigate your phone to email.nokia.com.  You go there and download nokia messaging (again) and re-install it (again).
You then proceed to to run the set up email program (the pink @ sign that now appears in applications) and go through the process of typing in an email account details.  At the end it should ask if you want to add it to a nokia messaging account or not.  IT NEVER DOES THIS.  It only ever adds the email to the **bleep** inbuilt polling email thing in messaging.
So, the user cannot make a nokia messaging account online OR on the handset which raises question 1.
    1. HOW THE HELL DO YOU CREATE A MESSAGING ACCOUNT IN THE FIRST PLACE?
Being no stranger to nokia messaging and after attempting the above several times I decided to use my E72.  I removed all my email addresses (so my nokia email account was no longer associated with that device) and set it up for my wife (who owns the 5800).  This allowed me to create a nokia messaging account for her (finally).
Now she could log into email.nokia.com and add her email addresses.  Now when I entered her email address into the 5800 it asked if it wanted to add the email to her nokia messaging account (FINALLY) and I was able to put her email onto her 5800 through nokia messaging.  Phew, it only took 3 hours.
Next step, remove her nokia messaging account from my E72 in order that I may have my account back on my e72.  When this was done the wife receives an email telling her that her subscription had been cancelled from her 5800, I assume becasue it detected me using it from my E72 when removing the accounts.
So, I try to re-setup nokia messaging on her device again on, it should be a lot easier as she now has a nokia messaging account right?  When I enter her nokia messaging email address it will automatically associate the nokia messaging account with the 5800 again, right?
    WRONG
now when I try to set up the email the option of adding the account to the nokia messaging service is never shown instead it adds it as the crumby polling email thing built into the device.  This leads me to my 2nd question.
    2. HOW THE HELL DO I MAKE THIS USELESS PIECE OF **bleep** WORK?
I am no noob, I have had nokia devices for the past decade and used symbian all the way since s60v1.  However this has bowled me over with retarded idiocy.
Do I have to make a pentagram of dku-2 cables with a symbain device at each point facing norway smeared with the blood of a virgin blackberry user?
Please someone, tell me what the **bleep** must do to simply get this **bleep** email to work.  I am fuming with rage right now and at the end of my tether.
P.s. No i will not do another hardware reset.

At the very least you would need to contact Nokia to re-instate your wife's account and I hope you are on Orange as otherwise you won't get very far in the UK as here:

At present i have noticed while receving emails from server then emails are also synchronized with server and that i do not want.
I Just want to download my emails only not to sync,
    Please help me.
    Kind Regards

set up your email as a POP3 email.
you probably have your email set up with the nokia messaging. in order to make it work as a POP3, you will have re-set-up your email and bypass the Nokia messaging part.
to do so, start to set up your email, and when it shows the terms of service, you have to select ignore so that it doesnt ask for an email and password and then automaticatlly set it up. after you do that, you will be able to set up your email on the internal email client directly.
you will need to have the
    incoming server
    port number
    security (if there is)
    outgoing server
    port number
    security (if there is)
    and your login and password.
then, in the advanced, there will be an option to leave messages on the server...which is what you want.

  • Old 5800 email setup not nokia email programme.

hi there (first post here!!!)  i have a 5800 V50.0.005 and ages ago on my old software (prob v31 iirc) i had email setup like text messages.   when i clicked messages i have 'hotmail' under the text message inbox but now its stopped working and every time i try and setup email again it loads and installs 'nokia email' programme which i find useless!
I did set it up (3 times) and told it to send and recieve every hour like i did before and it just does not work!!!   if i send an email it will send hours sometimes days later and even if i click 'sync' it still does not do anything, it goes online but does not seem to sync. same with recieving, works when it wants - useless!!!!
All I want is it to work like it did before with my hotmail folder in my messages. (v31)   Is this poss on V50 or can u reccomend an email programme for it that works!?!
    Thanks in advance
    Mark
I HATE THE N8 ALPHA NUMERIC KEYPAD MENU BUTTON!!! - what idiot put it under the spacebar!

It seems to have worked on my 5800 Xpress.  To decode the advice, two icons regarding the email setup were on my screen, one for email and one for email set up.  The email set up was in pink.  I pressed the white button to get the Organise, went in , selected the pink email set up icon and Removed it.  Now both icons are gone.  We will see tomorrow morning if I get the annoying message again asking me to go on the network.  Think it is sorted. I suspect that accidentaly starting the proceedure keeps it hanging around in the background.

  • E75 Email setting

My Marketing Manager bought a E75, he wishes to setup our company email in his mobile unit, I check the tutorial or guideline online which are for personal email such as yahoo.com & Gmail.com and corporate email is for Microsoft Exchange; my problem is our email server is Linux base server, could I still able to setup the email account in the mobile?

    Hi ,
I just found out how to sort your issue as i had the same problem with my E75.
    1. Write down the iman and smtp server name.
    2. Remove the mailbox and then add the yahoo mailbox again.
    3. When the setup asks for "Email address" use the following [email protected]
    4. Then follow the set up and then it should work.
    5. Ensure that you have also setup your email at the nokia messaging website as well.
    that should work.

  • E72 Email setting

i just got my E72 yesterday, and the email thing is kinda bugging me. i set up my hotmail and gmail account and it's just not working, there's this little cross symble on the top right hand side...
do i need to have internet servies on my sim card or do i use the wlan for the email to work ?

It would be useful if you canpost a screenshot to show that little cross symbol.
In the mean time, check your settings for both email accounts. Gmail settings are available here. If you get this to work then we know it is the settings and you can check the hotmail settings afterwards.
It is possible to use email with just wlan but you have to set up Nokia Messaging accordingly. Again, just check gmail first. When in Messaging, goto Options>Settings>email>Mailboxes>Gmail>Connection settings, you have to select the wlan access point you want to use for both Incoming and outgoing  email. Make sure the access point you have selected has been tested to be working with other applications such as the browser.

  • E5 Email set-up - problems

I am trying to set up personal email i.e. hotmail on my nokia e5. I follow the set up wizard through the process and it displays the hotmail screen and starts connecting, however, after a few seconds it switches back to the messaging screen and tells me that "no mailboxes are defined" and asks me to add one. If I go through the same process I agaion I get the same message - Does anyone have any ideas?

Please follow the below method to resolve your issue for Nokia E-5 and E-71:
On inital stage please type dont type correct yahoo, gmail, hotmail or other email ID "
for example if ur id is ****@hotmail.com that type ****@abc.com insted of hotmail. and correct it on second stage.
It appears that Microsoft have made slight adjustments to their hotmail protocol settings so what follows are the correct settings to make it work.
There are two very annoying processes on the E71 when you try to enter a hotmail address, the first being the new Nokia Messaging interface and the second being that the phone thinks it cannot do hotmail on its own via POP3 so it simply puts a link in the web browser bookmarks...none of which are what I wanted. I am sure I can remember http://www.hotmail.com/
The first thing you will notice if you try the default email entry for a hotmail address e.g. *****@hotmail.com is that the prompt will want to connect to the network or internet. This is because it wants to use the latest version of Nokia Messaging. If you are happy with this new mail interface (I prefer the older manual email setup) from Nokia then simply enter your email address and password and bobs your auntie.
But if you want to get around the Nokia Messaging then here is what to do:
Go to Mail on your phone  - Options - Settings -  scroll down to email - Options - New Mailbox
Click - start and then NO to allow connections (that stops Nokia Messaging swinging into control)
Now enter your hotmail address except do not put @hotmail.com at the end.  Put @abc.com
e..g. if you email is *****@hotmail.com then enter mailto:*****@abc.com
This is very important because if fools the phone into thinking this is a non hotmail email account. If you do not use this by pass, then when the operating system detects you are doing a hotmail, it simply tell you that it has made you a nice new bookmark for the hotmail web page.
Now enter your password - press OK
Now enter your correct hotmail address - e.g. *****@hotmail.com - press OK (this time you can use the hotmail)
Now you will get an error message saying unable to define settings and it will allow you to manually set the POP3 or IMAP. Hotmail is of course POP3 so choose that.
OK - to the wizard intro
    Mailbox POP3
    Incoming mail server - pop3.live.com
    Security - SSL/TLS - very important
    Outgoing mail server  - smtp.live.com
Security  - Start TLS ----> THIS IS THE NEW SETTING THAT HAS RECENTLY CHANGED. BEFORE SSL/TLS WAS FINE BUT NOW THE MICROSOFT SERVER IS REJECTING SSL/TLS EMAIL WITH AN ERROR 530 MESSAGE/START WITH TLS.
SO PLEASE ENSURE THIS OUTMAIL SECURITY IS CORRECT - START TLS.
If you hotmail was working fine but suddenly it stopped working for outbound emails, then this is the setting you now need change.
Port Number - 25 (which is the default)
Some users have reported that it only works if you use Port 587 for outbound. This depends on whether or not not ISP is port blocking or not. I suggest you try 25 and if you still cannot send emails via hotmail, then change to 587.
The wizard should now complete the setup and in the list you should now see the new email but now it needs editing further so click options - settings (on the new email you have just added).
    - Connection settings
    - Incoming e-mail
    - change the user name to the hotmail one i.e. change  *****@abc.com to *****@hotmail.com
    leave password correct
    leave incoming mail server pop3.live.com
access point - whatever is your default - I set to always ask
mailbox name - change this to *****@hotmail.com i.e. your hotmail address
    leave mailbox type as pop3
leave security ports SSL/TLS - this is still okay for incoming mail
    leave port - default
    leave APOP as OFF
now back to OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
change my email address to your correct hotmail one i.e. ****@hotmail.com
change user name to your correct hotmail one i.e. *****@hotmail.com
leave password - it should be same as for incoming mail
    leave outgoing mail server smtp.live.com
access point as you wish - mine is always ask
    security ports should be StartTLS
Port - make sure it is 25 or 587 as above.
And there you go...it should work now.

  • N97 Email set up

Trying to set up the email on my N97 mini and I get to a loop that asks me for me user name and then password, then asks me if I want o save these, then regardless of the answer send me back to the start of the loop. after a few goes at this loop then I get an error message.
Im not technically minded,  I just want to be able to see ive got a new email, so please dont baffle me with jargon as i wont understand it.

Assuming you're following the instructions correctly, and entering the email details correctly it should be very simple. If you use setup wizard it will ask you to choose Ovi mail or your own email, you choose your own and enter the details. If this isn't working there may be a fault with the phone, or the email server may not be supported by Nokia (although most are). Also are you using the standard email client or Nokia Messaging ? I find the standard email client easier ad less  memory intensive. You can also try from messaging-options-settings-email and should be told, no mailbox defined, define Now ? and follow instructions. If you can't get it to work take the phone back to your supplier or Nokia Care Point !
    Good Luck

  • Setup Email On My Nokia X3-02

    Hi Everyone
I cannot find email setting in Messaging. How I can be able to find this setting?

Sorry if you are already looking for 'mail' and not 'e-mail' under the Messaging .. (Pg. 28 of the User Guide )
If still no luck, you may try a Factory Reset (Pg. 18 ) or see if there is any update available thru' Nokia Suite . If the phone is upto date.. you may re-install the existing version and check again ..

  • Torch 9800 ''email set up icon not responding'' ... unable to edit or set up email accounts.

Torch 9800, Network provider, O2 UK.
Although my BlackBerry service with O2 is connected and working as normal, I am totally without email on my Torch 9800. I have owned the Torch 9800 since March. All has been well until last week when I changed the password on one of the 3 email accounts I had set up on my device.  This password change left one of the accounts unable to send or receive mail, and is also what lead me to discover that I could not enter email set up on my device or via my network providers website ( www.o2email.co.uk ) .
I have spent hours on the phone with O2 discussing this issue. The usual checks and procedures have been carried out, battery pulls, checking settings etc and the service books have been deleted and resent several times. These actions have not resolved the problem but instead led to the loss from my device of the other 2 email accounts which were working correctly but have now disappeared into thin air. Having tried all possible solutions with O2 I now come here looking for an answer.
When I visit my Network Providers BlackBerry mail service trying to create an account using my pin etc,  I am without fail getting a pop up box containing  the error message ''Your account is not accessible via HTML browser. Please use your devive to access BlackBerry Internet Service''  !?  The result is the same whether I log in from my device over 3G or Wireless, or from a PC (have tried several browsers) .
On my device, when I click on the Email Accounts icon from the setup menu nothing happens, no response at all. I have tried many times and there is just no way to set up or edit mail accounts. I am without mail on my device and growing increasingly short of patience.
I am now hoping somebody here can offer me some advice on how to resolve this issue. What use is a BlackBerry without email capabilities ? I see from researching email set up problems on the Torch 9800 that I am not alone here so if somebody at BlackBerry is listening ? If this is a Torch 9800 issue then I am sure you will be doing all you can to resolve this but in the meantime PLEASE help by offering a solution to the issues I have mentioned.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forums, bs342!
Well, since you searched the forums, you are undoubtedly aware that the problem you report is unfortunately a common one these days.  The good news is that RIM is definitely aware of and working on the problem.
First, let's try something on your computer.  What browser are you using?  Your problem there might just be as simple as clearing cache in your browser, then closing and reopening the browser to try the website again.
If that doesn't work, try this:
From your device's browser, go to mobile.blackberry.com. Select your country of choice, then go to Communicate>Email. Scroll down to Other Personal Email and click on Integrate Now, then Launch Email Setup. You should be able to integrate your e-mail accounts that way until RIM has fixed this issue.
Please let us know how it goes!

Question about email setting: how  do i change the setting so i need to login to check my email. Currently it automatically come to the inbox without the need to log in.

You don't. Email comes in either by push or when you invoke the email app. Ther is no password except when you first set up the account. If your iPad is not being used as your personal device and you need to shield emails from other users, then don't use the email app.  Instead, use web mail if available from your provider.

My iPhone has my old email set up throught iCloud. How do I reset my new username with the device without deleting everything. And if I have to delete my old account, will everything (contacts, pictures, games, apps, etc.) be erased from my phone.

Your old ID connects to an icloud account containing all your data (email, contacts, etc.)  If you then use a different ID, you will connect to a different account, which results in losing all your "apple" data, like emails, contacts, calendars, etc.
However, Apple IDs are also used to connect to an itunes store account, with is different.  You can keep using the old itunes store ID to keep all your purchases (but if you change to a different ID, you will lose all purchased items) and use the new ID for icloud (but losing emails, contacts, etc. from the old account).

  • Business Catalyst Email Set-Up

    Hello all,
I apologize in advance as I am new to setting this sort of thing up but I just launch my very first Muse site and am running into the issue of getting my clients emails set-up properly. For instance, where do I go about setting up the new individual addresses so that their new domain name is now included; [email protected]? Will these be linked or forwarded on to an existing external mail client? I discovered the 'Add New MX Record (mail) but don't know where to go about finding or what info I need to input for the 'Mail Server' field info? It doesn't seem like doing this would link anything up to any any existing persons email account? Am I going about this all wrong or over-thinking this?
Any help or simple instructions for a 'newbie' would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks for your time!
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
If you are under a "webBasic" plan you'll need to host your email externally to Muse/BC.  So under site settings -> manage domain name you'll add your external email MX details.
Please see the external email set-up article for more details. - http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/topics.html#dynamicpod_reference
However if you have a higher plan "webBasic+ or above) then you can use email service through Muse/BC.  Basically you'll just need to go to site settings -> manage domain and select mail service with us.  Afterwards you'll begin creating mail accounts under site settings -> email accounts.
If needing further assistance please reach our direct support to help review your setup if required.  - http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst.html

  • Quick email set up question

Hi All, I just got a Curve 8900 Tmobile new from ebay.  Seller said it was unlocked, but it's not.  I need to use it overseas and on ATT when in the US.
Problem is this...during set up, there is no email set up icon, and from what I think I've read, I need a data plan for that icon to show up?  Please confirm if this is true.  It's not reading any of my SIM cards obviously, so could this be the problem?  ie. once unlocked, will the email set up icon show up automatically?  And how about if the SIM I put in doesn't have a data plan?  (It's just charged per kb)
Any helpful info is appreciated, thanks!
