Email setup application and BIS problems

Good morning, I've a problem with the email setup application on my bold 9700 with wind, when I start the application the icon start the browser and not the application itself so I can not activate the gmail sincronization.
I try to resend service book and reinstall all the firmware but the problem persist.
Do you know how I can fix this problem? I try to contact the Wind customer service but they didn't know why the icon email setup launch the browser and not the application.
Thanks a lot and best regards

can anyone help me plz my browser and email setup is missing and i cant access my balances with any character like"#*" thanks in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
For the Browser and Email setup, I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
For the # character, are you saying you cannot type that character at any time? Or that you cannot access whatever dialing strings your carrier provides for balances and such?
In any event, if the above does not work for the Browser and Email, then you must contact your mobile service provider to ensure you are subscribed to, from them, an adequate data plan to enable the services you desire. When you do, you can ask them also about the # key problem.
    Good luck!

  • Email Setup Application version 6.11.0324.1701 ERROR

    Hi,
I need some urgent help. I recently updated to OS6. Since the update, I have been trying to add an email account to my BB but whenever I try to open the setup app, it advises to update Email Setup Application 6.11.0324.1701. There is a major bug in this update.
When I click cancel, I cannot access the setup. When I click ok, the error "com.rim.bis.client" contains a different version of module "net_rim_bis_client" which is also used by "Email Setup Application". If you proceed, "Email Setup Application" may cease to function properly. Proceed? When I click no, the entire download is cancelled and I cant access the setup. When I click yes, the unit doesnt boot and I have to reload the OS.
The update I refer to can be found at http://vodamy.blackberry.com/rest/updates/tc/6.0/6.11.0324.1701/net_rim_bis_client_en.jad
I have tried all sorts of workarounds from turning my connections off to updating via the web; all with the same frustrating result. FOR ALL USERS, DO NOT UPDATE TO OS6 UNTIL ISSUE IS FIXED.
Does anyone have a solution for this issue or does anyone have a contact in RIM that can sort this issue out ASAP?
    Solved!

this is seriously annoying when is this going to be fixed????

  • Exchange Server 2003 Email setup on IPHONE and IPOD Touch

Hi we have Exchange Server 2003 (SP2) on Windows Standard Server 2003 and we can access OWA from any browser and also am able to setup Exchange server Emails on Blackberry device without any problem but when I try to setup on IPHONE or IPOD touch I get error message saying Can not connet to server. I tried to get the answer on google and seems like it should work but seems like I need to some other settings on exchange server to setup exchange server email on Iphone or Ipod. Any idea what could be the issue.

Sorry I forgot to tell you that I tried without Exchange also.
I tested my activsync Connectivity test from https://testexchangeconnectivity.com/ and it fails at SSL. (Port 80 and 443 shows open and passed) In our server we bought SSL scertificate last year from godaddy and installed as I thought it requires but later on I removed as I was not able to setup iphone. So I don't know what could be the exact problem.

  • Email has stopped working and cannot be re-setup; 'Activation failed' and 'Security of the connection cannot be verified' errors

The blackberry stopped receiving email as of Dec 22.  it does reeive Registration messages from blackberry. The browser still works.  I contacted the provider and the network is functioning correctly.   I have deleted the email setup several times and set it up again; I have removed the battery and restarted and reset up the email.  This involves a hotmail.ca account.  During email setup it checks for update and indicates the mailbox is set up and then it wants to reconcile contacts and that is when the Activation Failed; an error was encountered when sending the activation transmission notice appears.  When I use the browser to go to hotmail.ca and login, I can see all my email up to date and then an error message pops up indicating, Server Certificate Warning and when I select Details; it inidcaes untrusted certificate; unable to determine certificate's origin; when I view the certificate it identifies X h.live.com  Untrusted Certificate Chain; Stale Chain Status etc...  It's like the hotmail.ca or live.com is corrupted...how do I fix it.  The only thing I have not doe is to use the Security tool to Wipe email.  Any advice on how to proceed would be appreciated.

  • Something's wrong with my Email setup

i follow some demo video i've watch about the Email setup it helped but the problem is in the email setup it doesn't say ''i want to create or add an email adress'' but it only says ''i want to use a work email account with a blackberry enterprise server''... so what now? please someone ;/

Dont worry about it then, Its on each blackberry but not everyone can use it, your employer would have an Enterprise server and you would have and admin and a bunch of other stuff. your employer would give you details...
If all this sounds foreign to you. chances are you dont have access and thus.. no worries

  • Annoying email setup warning during roaming on 580...

    Guys,
Does anyone know how to disable the message that pops up from the Email Setup program when the network changes (e.g.. During roaming) on the Nokia 5800 (FW version 50.0.005) saying "allow phone to use network to send and receive data".
Basically if you go abroad and have roaming enabled you will often find the phone changes network, e.g.. I was just in Italy and it regularly roamed from Vodafone IT to I Wind and TIM. Each time it swapped network I got the email setup program displayed and it said "can it use the network" which required a response. Why?? No other application needs this constant interaction!
It was especially annoying as I would be using the sat nav (so cool) but then while driving it would change network, then this message would be displayed which takes the focus from Ovi Maps so the screen blacks out, and locks (which seemed to stop the navigation instructions being read out even!).
    Please fix this Nokia!!!

Any update on this from Nokia?
I recently updated my 5800xm and I have the same problem now; in fact I wouldn'st say roaming changes anything, it happens all the time.
I really like all the updates we get on the 5800; I think it adds a lot of credibility to the Nokia offering.
But this bug should be resolved now. The only solution I have is to remove the mail setup application; not really a solution is it?
Or I could disable it. Any idea how to disable an app on NOkia 5800?

  • Can't get emails setup.

The 9720' keeps stating activation request failed. I don't have a business account and yet I only get given an enterprise activation screen for email setup. Help

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To use the proprietary BB services (including Push email capability, BBM, etc.), you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a Push-email enabled BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), your BB-proprietary services will function (e.g., you will have Personal/Internet Email added to the email setup wizard, your BBM will function, etc).
With hundreds of carriers in the world, each with dozens of different data plans, it's impossible to tell you specifically what any service plan might actually provide. Only the carriers can answer that question. The best thing to do is to decide what services you desire, and then talk to your carrier about obtaining (from them) a data plan that enables what you desire.
    Good luck!

  • Email setup/Blackberry Enterprise Deactivated/Suspended

Hi, I have a blackberry curve 8900 and recently upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S which I couldn't get on with so wanted to go back to my blackberry. When I put my SIM back in all the email setup had gone and when I went onto the Blackberry Enterprise to login to reset up the email addresses it was saying account has been deactived or suspended. Has anyone expereinced this as I have tried to re-registered and it's not having any of it.
Thanks in advance for any advice
    Donna

I didn't find it very intuitive either and in sheer desperation read the manual
Try setting up a schedule (preferences/ notification / schedule)
After that register for the alerts (preferences/ notification / (Public) Rules) Select the alert and then "Send Me Email"

  • Touch 2 mobile email setup

Does anyone know the settings i need to set up my btopenworld account on my Touch2.
I did set it up initially but for some reason in the password area its copied my password twice and i cannot stop it doing it. eg if my password was password my phone puts it as passwordpassword.
Ive solved that by changing my actual email password to match the phones and used the automatic email setup at home and it worked but as soon as i turn my hub off it stops working so i need the settings to try it manually.
    Thanks

    Hi Exiledblue,
Thanks for the post and welcome to the forum.

  • Accidentally deleted the Applications folder and Personal Email Setup icon

I have a BlackBerry Curve 8320.  I managed to delete my Applications folder, and also managed to delete the "Personal Email Set Up" icon from the BlackBerry Setup folder.  I don't have a backup of my device that I can restore from (stupid, I know).
My wife also has an 8320, so I took a backup of her device--she still has the things that were deleted from mine--and I'm trying to restore them using the Advanced restore feature of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, but I don't know what to restore to get these things back.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Whew. Thanks for the response.  You rock!  (I also book marked that page for future use. They should tell you about that gem...)
I originally set them up on the Blackberry itself via the setup wizard (email setup step).
Note- At first I went to the link on my laptop and it didn't work (entered my PIN and IMEI#s and got an error saying I could not access the my device via an HTML browser).  So go via device it you have this problem.

  • Email setup asking for Username and Password.

I recently backed up my phone on my computer and ever since I did, it's like all of my personal settings were deleted as well. For instance, I had to fix my all of my profiles sounds after backing up, and I went to my Blackberry Appworld, scrolled over to My Appworld and it says 'no downloads' and I have downloaded a lot of applications. That's not really a problem for me, as long as I get messages when updates come out for the apps...? Now, I am trying to setup another email  address and when going to 'email setup wizard', I am being prompted for a Username and Password. I don't remember ever making a username or password for email setup, but was able to firgure out I could put my PIN in for my password to be sent, which it was. BUT I still do not know what my username is, and I've tried my email addresses with and without what's after the @ and still no luck.  Could somebody please help me resolve this problem?

You must have done something more than just a simple backup -- a backup does not change device settings or preferences or write anything to the handheld.
As far as the email setup, it should not be your email address, it's whatever you created, perhaps the first part of your email, the part before the @ ?
but you must know it to proceed. Or, call your carrier and ask to have the BIS account reset (basically they shoudl delete it and recreate it for you).

  • Problems with email setup - Can't access security check

Hi all, i've recently aquired a BB Curve 9300 and managed to setup everything but I still have an unsolved problem:
i set up a gmail email account from my provider mobile email setup page (http://mobileemail.vodafone.it) and asked to sync both contacts and calendars.
The email was correctly set up as i can read and send emails but syncronization doesn't work.
    My provider's site says:
If you have not already done so, to start calendar and contact synchronization, complete the security activation on your BlackBerry® device:
    1. On the Home screen, click the Setup icon and click Email Accounts or Email Settings.
    2. After you open the application, the security activation starts. When security activation is complete, calendar and contact synchronization automatically begins.
If i try to do just that (open the menu, click on the set-up icon and then choose the "Email Accounts" icon) the device quickly shows a hourclass icon, hide it and then does nothing.
If i try to access "Email Account Management" from inside the mailbox options i get the following error message:
"unable to open email set-up application. contact your wireless service provider"
I tried contacting my wireless service provider both in-shop and on the phone and their theory is that the email setup application is too new and is not compatible with my version of the blackberry OS (which is 6.0 bundle 2949, the device says it's up to date).
I tried a battery pull but didn't help.
Any suggestion would be really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Marcello

    Gotcha.
Are you able to access the email account from https://bis.eu.blackberry.com/html?brand=vodauk

  • Email setup problems - user name error

    Hello,
This afternoon, I was handed a blackberry for the first time by my work.  It had previously been someone elses but was wiped.  I am having problems trying to get it to set up my emails.  Here's what is happening:
    Click on Setup Wizard
    Click on Email Setup
Select 'I want to create or add an email address'.  Click Next.
Get a message saying 'After you click Next, the Blackberry Internet Service setup application opens.'  Click Next
The screen says 'Existing users - If you want to access your email settings or you changed your device, log in.'
It then asks me to enter my user name and password.  I put in the user name and password that I registered on the Blackberry ID website earlier today, and it gives me an error saying: 'Blank User Name.  Type a valid user name.'
I have tried several times now, tried turning the phone on and off, but nothing seems to work.
    Can anyone help?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
It may be that you have an older device, older OS, and older email configuration app. As such, BIS is likely not linked to the BB ID (that's a newer capability). Rather, you need the actual BIS credentials that are associated with that BB...the BIS service is linked to the BB PIN, and that linkage is at the service provider side, so wiping the device itself does nothing concerning the BIS account credentials. You either need those or you need the carrier to reset the BIS account.
As a company BB, you should probably seek support from your admins...it is also possible that they are blocking the use of personal email accounts on the company owned BBs.
Good luck and let us know!
