Email Setup error on curve 9300

I have a curve 9300, whilst changing my device thru the desktop software, the system stopped and did only some of the transfers. My BBN works, My Browser works but when I go to set up my email, i get the usual email setup: Internet MAil Account AND Enterprise account. When I click that it comes up with a screen saying create an account with yahoo, gmail etc. I go thru the process and it comes up with a message "update failed". Can you please help? Thanks

Hello Alanj,
Welcome to the forum.
At this point I would suggest you contact your mobile network provider to ensure you have the correct data plan setup on your account.

  • Email set up on Curve 9300 and Music

I have just bought my daughter a used Curve 9300 and am having trouble setting up email account.  In the set up menu the only option for email takes me straight to the Enterprise option - I think I need personal email set up but I do not know where to find it.
Also have a music download issue.  I have synced it to our itunes and although I spent ages specify which tracks to add (using BB desktop software) and it seems to have added the whole libary!  I then tried to remove it all with no success.  Now seem to have double copies of everything!  How do I remove all the music and start again and get it right.
Can you tell I am an iphone user, this BB stuff is all new to me!!

To use the proprietary RIM Push email capability, you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), you will should have Personal Email added to the email setup wizard.

Activate Mass Storage Mode and manage the music that way. From your PC, you will  be able to treat the BB as a USB drive, with all of the capabilities of file management via PC. You can find out how to activate Mass Storage Mode in your device user guide:

This actually concerns me the most. See this:
KB05099 Steps to take before selling or after buying a previously owned BlackBerry smartphone
If the seller did not properly complete all of their steps, then you have little hope of succeeding at anything with this BB. Further, if the device is not unlocked, then it can only be used on it's original carrier. Further still, if the device model is not specifically supported by the mobile network provider you wish to use, then you will have even further challenges getting it to work, with no guarantee of any success whatsoever.
BB's and i-devices are very very different.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Blackberry Bold 9650 OS 6 update email setup error

Hi All, I recently updated my Blackberry Bold 9650 to operating system 6. Ever since I can not access the email setup on the phone!  I contacted verizon and they said they have had numerous calls on this. They had no fix except to go online to the VZW/Blackberry site to manage my email accounts. Does anyone have a solution to this error/bug? I used to be able to do this from the phone prior to the update! Thanks!!

    Hi,
It sounds like you need to reload your device's software.  Before you do anything else, backup your data with Blackberry Desktop Software.  Make sure you have any serial numbers, etc of any 3rd party apps written down.  When you are ready, perform a security wipe of your device.  To perform the security wipe, do the following:
Go to Options and press the trackpad.
Go to Security and press the trackpad.
Go to Security Wipe and press the trackpad.
Now, select the data you wish to delete.  I recommend placing a check in the boxes beside everything except Media Card.
Type the word 'blackberry' without quotation marks in the blank space provided.
Select Wipe Data and press the trackpad.  This will initiate the wipe process.
The whole process can take anywhere from 30-45 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on how much data you have and if it is encrypted.  Your device might restart a few times or may appear not to be doing anything, but do not stop the precess.  Once it has completed, you will be alerted.  You can then reload any of your personal data or 3rd party apps.  You may not want to do this unless you have 2 or 3 hours to spend.  Hope this helps.

Quesion, you can access to any web page with your device?
You can add the account through your carrier web page, log in on your account, go to setup blackberry mail and add the mail account.
Try resetting the device too, with the phone turn on, take out the battery for 30 seconds and install the battery again.

  • Email Setup Error

I just transferred to a new phone, and the email setup is not working. Last time this happened, I used the "rogers.blackberry.com/rest/EmailClient" with no issues but now that site is not found! Help!

    Hello kl23
O.K. fIrst register your Handheld with your network then Wait till a Registration messages comes in your message box after that try again and see if that helps
a)On the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options, or click Settings > Options
For BlackBerry Device Software 6.0 to 7.1, Device > Advanced System Settings > Host Routing Table
b)Press the Menu key and click Register Now
c)Wait till a Registration messages comes in your message box.
Then perform a battery pull restart like this while the device is powered On remove your battery wait for a min. then reinsert it back.
After that go to www.blackberry.com/integrate and try to add your email account. If that does not help then I think you need to Contact your Wireless service provider to know about the issue.

  • Email setup for BB curve 8520

I want to setup an email and the Email setup options on my BlackBerry only shows "I want to use work email account.....", when I choose Next, an Enterprise Activation password is required. I don't know what this is about, nor did I set any password related to this. Need help! Many thanks....

I assume you wish to use your personal email on the phone in which case you need a Blackberry Data Plan (normally called a BIS plan) so give your carrier a call. If you want to use your work email you need to contact your works IT department.

  • Email Setup Problem in curve 9220

    Hi...
I got my blackberry  9220 curved serviced due to hardware issuesas it was getting restarted again and again .
Now while i am trying to setup an email account, there is no option to setup an internet email account only option to setup enterprise email account while my BIS plans alows me to activate upto 10 email accounts.
    Plz help!!!!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try contact your mobile service provider for formal support....it is possible that they gave you a replacement device, in which case your carrier must get your account shifted over, and perhaps they have not completed that.
    Good luck!

  • I can't get my email to work! (Curve 9300)

I need to reset my email on my blackberry so I followed the directions: go to setup>email accounts>BUT THAT IS WHERE IT ENDS! I can't open the file, sometimes I can and I click internet email up but it just brings me to the pervious page.  This is really annoying! Can someone help me? Blackberry is usually great but I am considering leaving the company because this phone sucks!!!!

Thats right, there isn't a communicate link.  Click on the email link under the communicate icon.
I'm not sure what other email you are referring to.  Was this sent by your carrier?  I'm just a volunteer that tries to help out other fellow blackberry users.  I'll try to assist you.  Can you get to that email link on mobile.blackberry.com from your phone?  Another option is to call your carrier.  They can help set this up for you too.

  • WiFi and email on BB Curve 9300

Bell told me there is no way to use my WiFi in conjuction with email on the Blackberry Curve 9300 unless I sign up to one of their data plans.
Someone confirm this? I would have thought that a device that has WiFi built into it would be able to use the WiFi I have in my house.
I have an Ipod with WiFi and that is what I am using to check emails when I am in WiFi range.

They are correct. To use any of the blackberry push functions you need a blackberry data plan. Once in place you can also make use of a wifi connection.

  • Email Setup - Windows LiveMail Error - Update Failed

Hello all, I'll try to be as specific as possible, sorry, until we figure out this first predicament first, screenshots will have to wait.
I've gone around on the email setup merry-go-round for more than a few hours now and I can't seem to figure out what could possibly be impeding such a simple setup procedure. Am I overlooking something ridiculously obvious here?
Snagged a B-Berry Curve 9300 through Koodoo Mobile here in Canada a few days ago.
The package includes 2Gb of Data access, a text and calling package with visual voicemail.
Everything appears to be working normally, by that I mean, I go into Setup > Email Accounts (there is a short pause as the software checks for updates), then I arrive at the email setup window where you can choose from various email clients (i.e. Gmail, Yahoo!, AOL, Windows Live...)
Clicking on Windows Live, this brings up a submenu (@hotmail.com, @msn.com, @live.com)
I scroll down and select @hotmail.com and enter my full email address and password - hit continue and I get the error message "Update Failed".
Do I need to have BES enabled/installed or do I need to dowload a certain service book?
Do I need to adjust the mobile settings in Windows Live?
Do I throw my B-Berry Curve under a bus and hope for the best??
Kidding on that last remark, but what gives? All assistance appreciated and many thanks in advance to all contributors.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I wasn't able find any answers on this forum as to the error message I was getting while trying to set up my WindowsLive email client.
A quick call to Koodo Mobile quickly resolved the issue. The technician however would not elaborate on the cause of the problem. I do know that Service Books were re-sent to my device, also we had to verify the device was registered on the network by way of accessing the Host Routing Table (Options>Search Bar>type in host then scroll down to select the Host Routing Table - use the Menu Key to register) then I powered down the BB Curve 9300, removed the battery for 30 seconds, then reinstalled the battery allowing the device to start up.
    Everything works perfectly now.
You can reach Customer Service at 1-866-99-KOODO (1-866-995-6636).
Hope this helps anyone having similar issues with their BB Curve 9300.

  • Email setup problem 9300

    Hi there,
I have a curve 9300, one day one of my email addresses dissapeared.
So.. when i went into setup to re add an email address it wouldnt let me, kept saying an error message!!
so I updated the software to version 6.0, now when i go to setup/email accounts thats as far as it goes!!, was told I needed to wipe the phone which i did & now I have an empty phone sill unable to add an email address
Obviously I have rebooted the phone many times!! Any help greatly appreciated  Thanks Roger

We have the same problem. Looking at the blackberry desktop manager, I noticed that the app called "Email Settings" was not installed. This is the reason why you are not able to configure any email addresses.
The problem is, when I try to install it, it gives dependency issues, which results to not installing the app at all.
Please help me spread out this problem, as I have been looking for solutions to this, and have not yet been successful.
The blackberry support has not been very helpful either.
