Email setup option

somehow i do not have the "i want to create or add an email address" option but only the bb enterprise server option.
thus am not able to setup my gmail account as my address on my bb.  can some one help me?

First, you should know the 9550 Storm is NOT going to work on Rogers (or not work well, at least).
Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as additional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
Good luck.

  • Email setup options

Please help friends. I recently purchased a BlackBerry Curve 8320 and when running the setup wizard I mistakenly selected the option 'I want to skip email setup' thinking that I could go back and do this at a later time. Now, I am unable to set up my personal email accounts as the option 'I want to create or add an email address' is missing in the wizard. The only option I have apart from skipping is 'I want to use a work email account...etc'. Also, I cannot find the setup internet email icon in the home screen menu. I need help urgently. Thanks.

Both of you need to make sure you are subscribed to a BlackBerry Data Plan with your carrier. You must have that for the "personal email set" icon to appear. You need to call your carrier and get that Data Plan put on your account.

  • Email Setup Option Missing

    Hi All -
    I am in UK.
I am the proud owner of an iphone, sorry I don't want the knives thrown.  I have bought my daugter ( refering to as me for the rest of the topic) the BB Curve 8900 at her request against my better judgement, without any disrespect to Blackberry users, each to their own.  I am use to things working out of the box or just a simple restore to factory and away you go.  There seems to be very little about how to maniplulate the Blackberry to the Users requirements.  Considering I own it!  I should be able to do with it as I please.  I am very computer litterate so what you throw at me in solutions, dont worry about the lingo.  That's it my rant and rave due to frustration is over, any assistance would be greatfully apreciated.
My BB Curve 8900 badged as T-Mobile and unlocked.  Not sure on software but when I checked on line is was up to date.
Bought brand new from a work colleague so no problems there.
I am on vodafone with data plan.  The internet on my BB works fine and I can browse no problems.  I have phoned Vodafone customer services and got a feeling that 'ar*e and elbow come to mind'.  They said can you get the internet, I said yes, they said so what's the problem!
On the setup email, I only have an option to join an exchange type server.  My friend has the exact phone but bought on contract from Vodafone, she has 'mobile email setup' .  I have looked through the internet and found the 'setup email help', as I have said I don't get any option other than joining a VPN type email.
So please help me. what can I do, wipe it clean, re-install the software, my last hope would be to go to our local Vodafone shop and I get a feeling the my previous comment would come back in to play.
Thank you for reading my ramblings.
Regards and respect to you all.
    Tony

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
To use the proprietary RIM Push email capability, you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), you will then have Personal Email added to the email setup wizard.
Further, since this is a second hand device, you should read this and ensure that the prior owner fully conducted all steps in the Seller section...if not, then your carrier will never be able to register a BIS account to the BB.
    Good luck!

  • Storm 9530 Personal Email Setup Option not there

I recently just bought an unlocked Blackberry Storm 9530. I am new to the Blackberry OS. I put in my SIM card and texting and calling works fine. I am trying to use my Yahoo email on the device but I cannot configure it. When I go into Email Setup, there is no option for "I want to create or add an email address" but only "I want to use a work email account with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server". I don't have an Activation code so I am look for the option to add a personal email. The problem is that it is not there to select. What should I do?

You need a specific BlackBerry data plan on legacy devices. If you do have it, then for some reason you didn't get the service books. If you don't, then once you add it you will receive the service books and then have the capability to set up Internet email.
Contact your mobile service provider. Either add the BlackBerry plan if you need it or else have your service provider check your account if you are supposed to have the plan already.  And your provider can resend service books if that is what is needed.

  • Don't Have Personal Email Setup Option

When I go to to "Email Setup" in the "Setup Wizard" on my 8100 Pearl, I only have one email type option that says "I want to us a work email account with Blackerry Enterprise Server".   I don't get the option of selecting the "Blackberry Internet Service Email Options" which is the option I want so I can use my personal email Pop3 type email.

  • No Email Setup Option

I'm in the process of transferring my wife's cell service from a Curve 9300 to a Torch 9800. Everything works ok except for the email facilities.
When I go into Setup and select email accounts I get a very brief sight of the small black clock then the whole phone freezes until the battery is pulled and the phone is restarted.  I have factory reset the handset and checked that my Blackberry id is registered correctly.
Is is possible that I have an OS problem if so is it possible to reload the OS. The current OS is 6.0 bundle 2647 which as far as the update wizard is concerned is the latest version. Everything previously worked fine on the 9300.
    Can anybody help, please.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books (pre-BB10 devices only)
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. IF this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Now try to set up email again...and hopefully that will get things going again for you! Otherwise, you could contact your mobile service provider for formal support.

Please refer to this official download portal as you proceed. It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. After installing the OS package to your PC, please remeber to delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try the "Bare Bones OS Reload Procedure" to attempt to narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.

If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • 8310 No email setup option

My 8310 has only the option for setup with an enterprise server.  How can I setup for Groupwise without going through an enterprise server?

    Check out the following thread
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=BlackBerryInternetSolution&thread.id=...
Looks like you have to do some workarounds in order to get your word emails on the device. But setting it up in this matter is only for email. If you have Groupwise installed on your home computer then you;d have to sync with the Desktop Manager to get your Groupwise calendar, address book, tasks, and memos onto the BlackBerry.
If you set it up through your companies BES, then all your data will be sync wirelessly between the BlackBerry and Groupwise
If you do not want to connect the device back to the BES then you can remove the IT Policy from the phone by following the below steps. Just wiping the device does not remove an IT Policy

  • Email Setup application is not working on my device Blackberry Curve 9320

Dear Sir/Madam: I am unable to set up email using Email Setup application on my device. However I can setup my email accounts through the mobile service provider's web portal. Every time I try to setup emails from my device using "Emails Setup" option, I get the message "Your device encountered a problem with this application's server". Looking forward to your kind response Thanks Nini

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Here is a KB that discusses that error:
Article ID: KB32866 Error "Your device had a problem connecting to the server" is displayed when attempting to integrate an email account in the Email Setup application
Hopefully it contains something useful! There also are multiple existing threads on this site that discuss that exact error...your review of those might prove useful, and a search of this site, using the error message, error code, or symptom, should reveal all applicable existing threads to you.

  • BlackBerry Curve 8530 Email Setup?

Okay, I just got my first BlackBerry and whereas I love it, I can't setup an email account. I've been searching the internet for more information but nothing seems to work. I tried getting a BIS account but its telling me that my phone isn't registered. (which it is, because I got a confirmation message) Furthermore I only have one email setup option: BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Can someone please help me with this?

Check you have a Blackberry Data Plan (specificically a Blackberry Internet Service Data Plan if you want to use BIS) with your carrier.

  • Email setup for BB curve 8520

I want to setup an email and the Email setup options on my BlackBerry only shows "I want to use work email account.....", when I choose Next, an Enterprise Activation password is required. I don't know what this is about, nor did I set any password related to this. Need help! Many thanks....

I assume you wish to use your personal email on the phone in which case you need a Blackberry Data Plan (normally called a BIS plan) so give your carrier a call. If you want to use your work email you need to contact your works IT department.

  • Email Setup Icon not responding

    Its been very frustrating.
The Internet Email Setup option in Setup of my bb torch 9800 is not responding. I have tried rebooting, wipeout, reinstall of OS, couple of times, but nothing works. And when i try exiting the setup, the phone freezes. I have read many of users facing similar problem, but seems like RIM is in NO mood to resolve this one so guess i can call my smartphone a DUMBphone instead or is there any resolution to this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This issue actually does have a resolution. Follow the link below and follow the workaroud at the bottom. This issue normally occurs when you have to do a wireless update of your email client through your carrier. You will have to get in touch with your carrier to find out their <brand> though. Also make sure that EmailClient has the E and M capitalized.

  • Easy solution for Q10 and POP email setup

I am posting a suggested solution to all of the POP email headaches for anyone running OS 10.  I recently upgraded from a Torch 9810 to the Q10 and have had an awful time trying to intall and run my sympatico.ca email accoun in the new OS 10.   I understand this is an POP email account.
I have stumbled upon this solution quite by accident - not one of the so-called tech experts at Bell or Rogers Wireless, despite countless hours spent on the telephone and in chats with them, were able to suggest this to me, which I found quite astounding!
All fo the tech experts kept telling me to install my sympatico.ca email account as a POP account - despite dozens of attempts, it would never work and sync properly!
The solution?  Go into the advanced email setup options and choose Outlook as the account type, not POP, Exchange, or anything else.  Enter your email address and account password and do not change any of the default settings that OS 10 will give you.  Just finish the set up and, presto!  You have access to all of your account folders and sycing seems to work magically.
I hope some of the tech experts at the Internet and wireless providers read this forum from time to time...it could save frustrated customers many hours!

It's possible that Sympatico has recently enabled Exchange Active Sync (EAS) access. If so, that is a great thing for all Sympatico users.

  • Email setup solution required please?

Hi, new to blackberry and done a silly thing when setting the phone up, pressed I want to use a work email with a blackberry Enterprise Server. Ok, I admit it, I am an **bleep**, but the question is how can I reset this email setup please. Any help would be gratefully recieved.
    Many thanks.

Well, even if you did press that you were on a Enterprise server, and you are not, nothing should have happened since you can't be activated on one.
You need the Personal Email Setup option icon, do you have that?
Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier an inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.

  • Email setup - only given enterprise server option - not on enterprise server

    Hi
Can anyone help me with email setup? When I go to the Email Accounts setup page, it explans that I can activate my enterprise account by entering my email address and activation password. I'd be happy to do that, if I had an enterprise account, which I believe (cld. be wrong) is what companies use. I'm just an ordinary user, not using the phone via my company - but I can't see any other option on the setup page.
What am I missing? is there another way I can setup email?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

With respect there are two services in the world that the carriers are using.
    1.   BIS (Blackberry Internet Service)
    2.   BES (Blackberry Enterprize Service)
YOu better call your carrier that what data plan i have. Either BIS or BES. Once confirmed then i will further guide as per your quiery that how to activate the emails
