Email setup username

When trying to login to the existing users email setup, my username is either not recognised or is invalid. If I used the screen name of my BB ID then the password does not match whilst when I used my full registered email address, it won't recognise the @ symbol and says the my username is invalid.
I've been stuck with this problem for a month now and Orange says there's nothing they can do about it.
Any ideas?

Ask Orange to delete your BIS account, and re-add it to your account.
Then you can setup fresh and set a new username/password.

  • Email setup asking for Username and Password.

I recently backed up my phone on my computer and ever since I did, it's like all of my personal settings were deleted as well. For instance, I had to fix my all of my profiles sounds after backing up, and I went to my Blackberry Appworld, scrolled over to My Appworld and it says 'no downloads' and I have downloaded a lot of applications. That's not really a problem for me, as long as I get messages when updates come out for the apps...? Now, I am trying to setup another email  address and when going to 'email setup wizard', I am being prompted for a Username and Password. I don't remember ever making a username or password for email setup, but was able to firgure out I could put my PIN in for my password to be sent, which it was. BUT I still do not know what my username is, and I've tried my email addresses with and without what's after the @ and still no luck.  Could somebody please help me resolve this problem?

You must have done something more than just a simple backup -- a backup does not change device settings or preferences or write anything to the handheld.
As far as the email setup, it should not be your email address, it's whatever you created, perhaps the first part of your email, the part before the @ ?
but you must know it to proceed. Or, call your carrier and ask to have the BIS account reset (basically they shoudl delete it and recreate it for you).

  • What email address/ username do I use in setup?

I need to use my email for something, but I am unsure as to what email address/ username I am meant to use when in setup.
I have a Blackberry Curve 3G using software 6.0, so when in the 'Setup' menu, I select the 'Email Accounts' icon and it asks for a username and password. However, it hasn't clearly stated what username I need, as I have set one up but only with my usual email account for this.
When I try and put my details in, it comes up with a message that says 'The information you provided is incorrect. Retype your username and password. Your username and password are case sensitive.' so I am confused as to what I details I am putting in.
Currently, I am using my Windows Hotmail account details, as well as trying my BBID details. Neither are working.
I would very much appreciate help as I need these quite quickly.
    Many thanks, Jade.

  • Username for email setup

    Hey,
I've had my torch for a little over a year now and when I first set up my emails, everything worked perfectly fine with it, but now it won't let me recieve emails to my phone at all from my gmail account. My first problem was that I needed a password as I thought I knew my username, so I went on blackberry's website and changed my password. My problem now is that it still won't allow to use my setup and says the combination is wrong, which means my username is wrong. On the blackberry website it says my username is my email address and when i try to change it to a normal username, it says that it has to be an email address. But on my blackberry torch when i try to put in my email address as my username in my email setup it tells me that 'the username is invalid. A user name must be at least 4 characters' and I found out that it's the @ sign which makes it invalid.
How can I find what my username is, or change it so that I can restart my email or at least check that it works, because i cannot send emails either as it says that the account is in invalid mode.
Also, my wifi hasn't picked up any wifis at all, even though it used to. Is there anywhere I can turn it on or anywhere where I could possibly have something turned off without knowing it? It's very frustrating when it doesn't find any networks, when I'm standing right next to a perfectly working router.
    Thanks,
    Penny

You can always try going to your carrier's self-serve BIS site to set up email addresses on your phone (your carrier will help you with it along the way) or you can type www.blackberry.com/integrate from your phone's browser.
    I hope that helps you.

  • Email setup - password and username

I've had my BB for 3 weeks and i love it... although I am somewhat paranoid about excessive bills. (Will have to ensure I understand what functions are covered by contract and which I have to pay through the nose for.) Anyway onto my point.
I set up my gmail email using the email setup function. Was very easy actually. However, i can't remember my username or password to get back in. (All i wanted to do was to add a signature rather than have the default 'email sent using Blackberry on orange' at the end of emails.)
Is there anyway to reset this? If I could at least remember my username I could recover my password - but i've tried every username I can think and no joy. Would anyone be able to suggest anything? If not, would Blackberry be able to assist me? It's not an earth shattering problem as I can get and send emails at the moment. However I hate not having full access due to my own stupidity in not writing down the PW and UN and storing securely.
    Any assistance or advice welcome

  • Email Setup Torch 9800 Username Password

Hi, I'm using a BB Torch 9800, basically I changed my email password recently and now need to change the settings on my BB.  However when I tried to go to settings to change my email account settings, its asking for login?  It not my email account or BB ID login as I tried to register to that and that didn't work.  Then I think its the BB account (which is different from BB ID... so confusing...) So I tried register that but doesn't seem to allow me to do so.... Any suggestions would be appreciate it!  Alternatively, should I wipe all the info and start again? Many thanks!Maria

  • Android Email Setup Failing

    Hi,
I'm having a hard time setting up an email account for Verizon Fios on my Android Nexus 5 (T-Mobile). I keep getting the following error:
    Problem with account setup
    Username or password is incorrect
I verified both are correct. I don't have a Yahoo or AOL account, my settings are as follows:
Settings, Accounts, Add Account, IMAP, Email Account (enter email address), Manual Setup, POP3, Sign In Password, then I get to the point where I can edit the email settings and I use:
    Username <emal address>
    Password: <passowrd>
Server: pop.verizon, net (tired incoming.verizon.net but it didn't work)
    Port 995
    Security: SSL/TLS
Delete email from server: When I delete from inbox
    Thanks.

It may not matter since I see you are setting POP3 later, but you shouldn't be selecting IMAP as the type of account. There should be a POP3 option there.
Since you don't have a Yahoo linked account, your username shouldn't be your full email address, just the part before tha @ symbol.
For the sake of example, we are going to pretend that we are setting up fictional account "[email protected]" and the password for logging into that account in webmail is "fakepassword" - Again, this is a fictitious account for the sake of an example.
The settings for using Verizon's servers would be:
    Incoming Server: pop.verizon.net
    Server Requires Authentication: Yes
    Username: fakeacct
    Password: fakepassword
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 995
    Outgoing Server: smtp.verizon.net
Server Requires Authentication: Yes (You can set it to use the same settings as incoming, or manually enter the username and password.)
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 465
If you are given the option anywhere for Secure Password Authentication (SPA), set it to No or Normal
If all of that is set up and it's still not working, your best bet is to provide a screenshot of your settings (with personal information blocked/removed) and any errors you are getting.

  • How can I reduce the amount of user prompts for Email setup in Apple Configurator?

I am working on deploying profiles via Apple's new Apple Configurator which allows me to install apps and settings exactly how I want them. My question pertains to the email setup where anything left blank in the payload gets prompted on the device for user input. Is there anyway to have the user only enter in their user name and password once and use that for the SMTP outgoing settings as well? I'd like to reduce the user interaction to a minimal.Currently they enter in their full name, email address, user name for incoming, password for incoming, and then user name AGAIN for outgoing (I checked the box for 'Outgoing password same as incoming'). Is there anyway to retain the username and avoid having the user enter it in twice?
If not, I can make do with how it is, but was rather curious if this is possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'll try this again starting it as new, but when I restored it before (after deleting all the apps and music off it) it didn't help.  Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Outgoing Email Setup for Knology - Does anyone know the server setting?

A friend cannot find the Knology server settings for outgoing mail...Knology company was no help.
Does anyone know the proper settings?
    Thanks

    DBunch07,
I was able to find this site in their support pages:
    http://support.knology.net/content/email.setup.cfm
If the suggested setting from there smtp.knology.net, does not work, they may require different settings for when you aren't connected directly to them. For example when using EDGE or a WiFi Hotspot.
I have found that asking email provider's tech support for what mail server settings to use while you are travelling and using a laptop will often get the correct settings to use for the iPhone. However, if they say they only offer webmail for when you are travelling, you will not be able to use their outgoing server on EDGE or at WiFi Hotspots, because they have chosen to block outgoing access when you are not on their network.
While connected to EDGE, you can use cwmx.com to send email out. It only works while on EDGE, and does not require a username or password, since it goes off of the authentication for using EDGE with AT&T.
AT&T's knowledge base article about cwmx.com is here:
    http://www.wireless.att.com/support/knowledgeBase.do?content=KB72769.html
You will have to turn off WiFi when you want to send email though.
This article discusses the issues in more depth:

    Hope this helps,

  • Email setup problem on 6760 slide.

What can I do if the email setup function on my new 6760 slide goes all the way through and then fails.  This has happened with a normal personal POP email account with just a password and with a business IMAP account with SSL security.  Is there another way to set email up?  Is there a known bug?

    Hello everyone,
I have discovered a workaround that solves this issue:
    1. On the list of mail clients, scroll down to the bottom and select 'Other'
    2. Enter a nonsense email address e.g. [email protected] and password
    3. Proceed through the 'Validating e-mail account' message, than select the 'POP/IMAP' option
    4. Now, change the fields to reflect your valid email account settings.
Hotmail/Live users can follow these guidelines:
    Email address: your email address
    Username: your email address
    Password: your email address password
    Mailbox Type: POP3
    Incoming mail server: pop3.live.com
    Incoming mail security: SSL/TLS
    Incoming port number: 995
    Outgoing mail server: smtp.live.com
    Outgoing mail security: StartTLS
    Outgoing port number: 465
You can find alternate settings for different accounts fairly easily by searching on the web.
    5. You will then proceed to the mailbox screen (and hopefully your emails). From this point onwards you can enter the settings menu and change the above settings again if you need to.
You can also change the preferred connection type in here.
I found that i needed to change the default connection (that the mail application had chosen) to my WAP connection.
After this, my emails were fully funtional.
Hopefully, this will help a few of you,
    Regards,
    Luke.

  • My Galaxy S III email setup for Yahoo isn't working

I'm not able to setup my Galaxy S III for Yahoo mail. I get an message 80315, that the username or password is incorrect. They're not--I tried several times! I tried using both the Yahoo setup and the generic Other manual setup. It retrieved all the info from Yahoo OK, but at the end gave me the same message, about my username or password being incorrect.
(I encountered a similar problem with live.com, which I was able to fix using the Manual setup.)

Yahoo email setup has been troublesome for a while for android devices.  Try the Yahoo app from the Play Store instead.

  • Email setup & internet issues.

My BlackBerry recently broke, so Orange have sent me a new handset.
I can't set up my email because on the email setup there is only the "I want to use a work email account with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server."
Also, when I go on the internet, it will only work when connected to wifi. This is odd because I have a data plan, and my BlackBerry Messenger is working.

Hello JodieJudo_ and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Do you have an Email settings icon located in your Setup folder?
If you know the username for BlackBerry Internet Admin account, you can use the computer to transfer over your old email by going to Orange UK's BIS site: http://www.blackberry.orange.co.uk/
As for your internet working on Wi-Fi only, do you get an error message when you launch your browser when not connected to Wi-Fi? Do you have EDGE in uppercase letters?

  • 8520 Differerent email setup problem

My gaffer got his 8520 back from repair, but Im unable to set up his email. When you got to email setup it asks for existing username and password. Ive assumed the username is his email address, but it doesnt like it and asks for a valid username. Ive tried this on both his emails and am getting knowhere.
    Any ideas?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
The credentials being requested are not the email account credentials. Rather, they are the BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) credentials that have been created. BIS holds the credentials for all email accounts configured on a BB...and BIS has it's own credentials so as to protect the email credentials. Someone created BIS credentials and only those credentials will allow access into the BIS account and configuration screens. If no one knows what those are, then contact the carrier as they manage the BIS account.
    Good luck!
