Email spell checking issues

After installing Lion I have 2 problems with mail. The first is when I come to send an email, my spell checker won't allow me to edit the text as the messafe gets sent as soon as I type. Sendin the whole message un checked.
The secondissue is with the rule I have set, in that it will forward the message to another address but won't attach the enclosure, any thoughts?

There was actually supposed to be spell-check capability available to developers to get started using it, in the latest 2.0 beta. Some inadvertent (?) glitch led to it being unavailable, but it's pretty certain at this point that 2.0 will definitely have spell-checking and auto-text (auto-correct) stuff in it, in the native PIM, available to devs to integrate into their apps and, I suppose, possibly even in text fields in web forms.

  • Mail Spell Check Issues

I'm having an issue with Mail in Leopard - when I first open Mail and start to compose a new email the spell checker (usually) works. However, after Mail has been open for a while, the spell checker stops working - without any error displayed.
I have the check spelling while typing option checked.
The spell checker does not flag miss-spelled words while I type and it does not recognize miss-spelled words if I try to spell check with Edit - Spelling and Grammar - Check Document Now.
I can typically get the spell checker to function again by quitting and restarting Mail.
    Anyone else run into this?

Something similar just happen on my computer. Not only will Spell checker not show up at all, in any way, for Mail but also doesn't show up in Text Ed.

  • CRM 7.0 Email Spell Check

    Hello all,
Iu2019m currently working on an upgrade project.  My client is upgrading  from CRM 4.0 to CRM 7.0.  During the upgrade we are implementing Email for CRM and my client is looking for auto spell checker to scan the body of the email.  My client does not want their agent to have to push a button to activate the spell check but just auto underline the incorrect works, like in Microsoft products.  My client is using the Web IC functionality of CRM 7.0.   I was hoping someone could recommend a third party vendor since SAP CRM does not do it.

    Hi Eric,

  • Email Spell Check

Two things regarding the spell check.  When I click on the spell check after writing an email, it turns the misspelled words yellow.  Any 'misspelled' words in the email chain are highlighted and when i send it they stay yellow to the other user.  Is there a way to fix this? Also, is there a way to turn on automatic grammatical errors? As in 'i' does not automatically capitalize and neither does the first letter in a new sentence.  Are there reasons why there is no Outlook style spell checks? It makes me seriously consider changing to another provider.

  • Spell Checker Issues

I am having an issue with spell checking on my MBP. Recently, a program has been opening anytime I compose a mail message. The program is called "Spell Catcher", and runs in background with no active window. Not sure where this program came from (info shows it was installed a year ago, and a trial license is expired). Problem is when I move the program to the trash, I keep getting error messages when a word is misspelled in Mail.
How do I set preferences for spell checking? Isn't spell checking "built in" to the OS? I have searched utilities and preferences, but I cannot find a settings for spell checking.
    Thanks,

  • Spell-Check issue

    v 31.0
Seems each time Thunderbird is re-started, the spell-check malfunctions --
when writing a new message, all words are red-highlighted, indicating a spell error.
    I 'fix' the issue by 1) disabling spell-check, close and re-start, 2) re-start and enable spell-check.
    Ideas? Thanks!
By the way, this might be helpful...
Recently replaced the drive on iMac, restored from Time Machine... Also, performed a 'disk erase', Mac's function for cleaning-up deleted files. wondering if Thunderbird was impacted. Although, everything else on the iMac runs perfectly.

regardless of what the forum people at Mozilla say, we do handle multiple problems in one post.. But then Thunderbird is a community project, we are just a little independent.
That and your other issue may well be related. could time machine be replacing these files over and over? Spelling setting I am sure are stored in profiles.js, along with account settings. This is a text formatted java-script file. So open it in a text editor and just scroll through it. Is there an discontinuities and might be corruption. (you do not have to understand it to see something obviously different.)
Also check that the session.JSON file is stored and unchanged session to session. Under windows ccLeaner deletes that in a misguided attempt to protect you privacy. Nothing to say there is not a MAC culprit as well.

  • RoboHelp 8 Spell Checker Issue

I am using RoboHelp 8 and am having trouble with the Spell Checker. It flags normal words (like "lesson"), and even when I add these words to the dictionary in one topic, the words are not retained in the dictionary, and it flags the same words in other topics.

This has been flagged before with RoboHelp 8. Whilst there was no fix, it does seem to go away albeit it might take some days or longer.

  • Auto Spell Check Email, but not SMS

My automatic email spell checker is a very important part of my life when I'm typing emails with my thumbs.  However, I absolutely hate an auto spell checker when I'm SMS texting - as a tend to abbreviate.  I can seem to separate the two spell checkers my Tour.  If I turn on automatic spell checking on my outgoing email (what I want), I also get auto spell checking on SMS (what I don't want).
Any way to get around this?
    Thanks,.

hmmm, you just made a darn good reason for the spell check in SMS.

  • How do you spell check a field?

How are people spell checking their fields?
In searching around, I have only found (a) suggestions to yank the text into MS Word, do a spell check, then yank the resulting text into the field; (b) software from DC AL CODA that we aren't clear how they actually work (http://www.dcalcoda.com).
Specifically, my manager wants a tool that'll interface with Oracle like this: give a table name and a field name and be asked about each spelling error, much like an email spell check. The tool would change things as you ask, directly in the database. You wouldn't have to cut and paste into it and back to the db fields.
We aren't using forms. We use SQL*Plus, Quest Software's TOAD, and our own Java servlets (using JDBC to enter SQL statements).
I would love to hear how people do their spell checking.
Hopefully this is an appropriate forum for this question. There doesn't seem to be a general or SQL forum. Our database tables include a fair amount of text that shows up on Web pages. These are the fields we want to spell check.

I thought I'd reply to my own question since I found a workable solution, at least for our office which has MS Windows.
MS Access can connect directly to an Oracle data source. Access has a spell checking feature where you can select a field and spell check it. Below are tips and instructions for doing this.
    TIPS:
It's surely a good idea to back up tables and be the only person or process changing those tables during the spell check.
One thing to watch for is whether the entire table comes in. At the bottom of the screen is a >* button which seems to get all fields. For large tables, you have to hit this button before you get the entire table.
Another glitch is that all of the given database user's tables show up in one list box -- makes for some painful scrolling, but all of the tables are listed.
A much smaller glitch is that if you widened any of the fields in the view of the table, when you close the window, it asks if you want to save the formatting. It has nothing to do with saving the data (that is automatic). It's safe to say no.
    The spell check doesn't recognize HTML tags (asks about "br"s from <br> tags) but seems to know to ignore things like &quot;
How to set up an ODBC Data Source in Windows:
    1. MS Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> ODBC Data Sources (32 bit)
    2. Drivers tab, scroll down and select Oracle ODBC Driver
    3. OK
    4. User DSN tab, Add...
    5. Select Oracle ODBC Driver and Finish
    6. Make up a data source name (example: src)
    7. Enter a description for it
    8. For Service name, put what your service name is (for an SQL*Plus connection, 'usr/passwd@svc', this is 'svc')
    9. For UserID, put your user id (for an SQL*Plus connection, 'usr/passwd@svc', this is 'usr')
    10. Ignore the rest of the fields, click OK
    11. Another OK.
How to use Access to Spell Check an ODBC Data Source Field:
    0. Install Access from (MS Office 2000).
    1. Start Access (by the way, you might find it way down the list in Start -> Programs).
    2. Open file, in the file type box, scroll to the end: ODBC Databases. You'll get a dialog.
    3. Machine Data Source tab, select the name you gave it (src in step 6 above)
    4. You'll be prompted for the password (for an SQL*Plus connection, 'usr/passwd@svc', this is 'passwd')
    5. Select from the huge list of every table the table you want. Ok.
5.a. If the table has no key, you'll be prompted for the unique key from a list of all fields.
    6. Double click the item that has just been added to the dialog that remains on the screen. It'll have a globe next to text like USR_TABLENAME. This brings up a randomly sized first chunk of the table.
    7. To make sure you get the entire table, on the paging buttons on the bottom (|< < > >| >*), click >*. It may take a few moments to get a huge table.
    8. Click the heading of the field (column) you want to spell check). This selects the entire column.
    9. Hit spell check (ABC checkmark tool or Tools -> Spelling)
    10. Check away. The changes are made immediately to the database.
    11. Close the table display window.

  • Will Pages 2.0 have Norwegian spell check possibilities ??

Can I tell my wife that upgrading to Pages 2.0 solve the spell check issues?
We were very dissapointed to find that Pages was sold in Norway, without support for Norwegian.
Even bigger dissepointment: I cant replace the useless spellchecker with aspell, as I can do with other programs like "Impress".
So, has this been fixed, or at least can I use "aspell" ???

Since it's listed as present in the tech specs, you should have it:

Are you aware that spell checking follows the keyboard?  You must be typing with the Norwegian keyboard layout to have Norwegian spellcheck.  Except for iWork apps, which have a bug where spellcheck follows the OS language.

  • Croatian (or any foreign language) spell check and dictionary

What do people from non-english speaking countries do with OS X's limited dictionary.app?
I am specifically talking about the Croatian language (Hrvatska), although would be happy to hear from anybody from any country on how they solved the dictionary/spell check issue for their own language.
I am struggling to find a list of Apple Dictionary.app plugins or extra dictionaries to install.
Now I know MS Office 08 has a Croatian dictionary (altho I can't really get it working) but what about native OS X apps?
I have found a 3rd party solution called CocoAspell (free) but am having limited success with it.
I would even be prepared to build a Croatian dictionary plugin for Dictionary.app if somebody could link me to some sort of instruction set.
I'm surprised Apple have not gone to the trouble of building more dictionaries for Dictionary.app
What do Russians, Chinese, Hungarian, Brazilian, Italian eetc etc do when they want a spell checker / dictionary for their language? Buy MS Office 08???
How does Apple resolve this issue (esp the spell checking) in apps like Pages?
In my hours of research into this area it is clear Apple have not really addressed this issue despite the fact it would be so easy for them to solve.
Can anybody help me out / point me in the right direction?
    thanks
    d0z

As a matter of fact I found the working Cro dictionary at the same ftp link you provide above shortly before you posted it. Nevertheless your great efforts are fully credited. Thanks for your excellent assistance!
I have also been in contact with the developer of Dictionary Cleaner who tells me the 2.0 verison of his software will be able to import comma separated txt wordlists. Nice.
Good as CocoAspell is I feel Apple should already have integrated this functionality, together with downloadable dictionaries from their site, into OS X.
I was unable to get a working Cro dictionary, or Custom dictionary, working in Office 08 for Mac. Interstingly the windows veriosn of the product offers the full gamet of proofing and spelling tools for the Croatian language (and manay, many others).
So both Apple and Microsoft are guilty of letting down their International customers. I am unimpressed by both. How difficult would it be for Apple to add better sprell checking and MS to port their proofing tools for office to the Mac version.
For the record (and MBU developers): When you change the language in Office 2008 for Mac to Croatian (and prob many of the other languages in the list) ALL the spell checking stops and any Custom Dictionaries are ignored.
Switching back to English restores spell checking but then the Custom Dictionary is opened with Roman text encoding and all the special letters in the Croatian alphabet are ignored, thus rendering the Custom Dictioanry list only 30% effective since 70% of the words in the language contain special characters.
The develoepr of Dictionary Cleaner should consider these sorts of problems regarding the text encoding of word lists.
Finally I'd just like to mention the confusing nature of Croatian text encoding:
The 'input menu' tab of the international System Preference pane would seem to imdicate Croatian is Unicode. Although encoding text files in Unicode-8 mangles the characters. As it does too using another text encoding called Croatian (Mac OS). The encoding that actually works is Central European (Windows Latin 2). Go figure.
If anybody knows anything about the subject of text encoding I'd love to know more. Useful links also welcome
So in conclusion - Come on Apple!, sort it out with interbational sprell check.
p.s. more downloadable non-English dictionaries for Dictionary.app too please!

  • Mail - spell checking dilemma

I recently turned off the function for spell check to underline words it feels are misspelled. Instead I opted to have the email spell checked after I press send and correct from there. I figured a few "changes" and a few "ignores", and off it goes.
Unfortunately I find that the spell check proceeds to correct my email and the email I am replying to. This prolongs the spell check beyond what I had hoped to do: correct my mistakes and my mistakes only.
I know my aging parents don't spell very well, but is there a way to tell the spell check function to only correct my reply? I don't need to correct the email I am replying to as well.

Thanks--I found it interesting! Especially when Spell Check quit working for me, too.
    Very weird.
I went back and selected 'Correct Spelling Automatically' in Text Edit-- that works, but I don't like it either. Whoops, only intermittently. I just looked again and that's not working now. Wow, no restart of computer and I hadn't closed Text Edit-yet it stopped working.
Spell checking seems to be behaving badly. It will not underline in mail--until I change a misspelled word....and then only sometimes. At the best it's intermittent.
I hope someone found it interesting enough to fix w/the next system update...
