Email Support: Pornographic Images

I have tried every filtering option available in "Mail Preferences" to eliminate unwanted pornographic images from my mailbox.  (One option I'm using includes not allowing any email to load "Remote Content".)  I'm not having any trouble keeping unwanted emails out of my main mailbox...however, I constantly receive pornographic images in my "Bulk Mail" and "SPAM" folders.  This wouldn't be a big problem for me, because it's easy to see by the title what the email includes.  However, the only way I've found to delete my bulk and SPAM mail is being selecting all of the emails within the folders and then pressing delete.  Here's the rub: when I select the emails to be deleted, the pornographic emails include loaded photos!  (So the *********** still appears-though I'm trying hard to avoid it.)  I don't understand what I'm doing wrong?
How is it that my legitimate email requires me to press a button allowing remote content to load, so I can see the pictures I want, while SPAM just has pictures built in that I don't want to see but downloads automatically?  What am I doing wrong?

The spam doesn’t have Remote Images embedded. That are just attachments. Remote images are HTML links back to a hosting server. The images are loaded like in a web page. If you have disable Remote images, but there are still images showing, then those are actual, downloaded attachments, not remote images.
I just have my Junk set to auto-delete after a set period of time. I only review the header info to determine if the message might not be spam. The obvious ones i just leave for it to automatically purge.

    you basically have 2 options for images in HTML emails:
    Option 1) you can embed them as file attachments and reference them with no path (only the file name) in the img tag. This is good because the recipient will see the images even if he does not have an internet connection. But this is bad for several reasons: Each email will be large since it contains several attachments, thus large traffic on your SMTP server if the volume is high. Also, many email clients might not support this configuration. I would not normally recommend this option for these reasons, but sometimes this method can be prefferable if the recipient's email client is known to support it (Outlook, Outlook Express), and if the recipient is behind a firewall and does not have internet access.
    Option 2) the other, (preferrable) option is to serve the images on a publicly available web server, preferrably on port 80. Reference each image with an absolute URL to the file.
    Also note you should attach a .txt Multipart for those email clients which do not support HTML. (pine or elm users stuck in 1987). Note there are issues with mail gateways, as well as different levels of HTML support within the email client itself... mail clients won't support JavaScript either.

    What format are the pictures you are receiving in?
    Have you tapped them to download in case they were too large to automatically download over your current connection?

    You will need to get the required info to create/access the account with an email client from your school.
    Are you currently accessing the account with an email client on your computer - if you have a Mac with the Mail.app, or if you have a PC with Outlook Express, etc.? If so, you can get the required account settings there.

    I'm trying to deactivate DW CS3 on an Mac (10.4) to be able to use it on my new Mac, but the deactivation does not work. I go to Help > deactivate, but all I get an error (194:1). As I'm in Germany I phoned the German custom support. They can't help my, cause it is an English version of DW ...  *sigh* They told me to phone the support in US. Which I would rather not, cause I would have to phone in the middle of the night and it might be quite expensive.
    Is there any other solution to this problem? Does Adobe provide email support?

  • BIS users in Pakistan::: HTML email view with images

    Mobilink, service provider, has updated their BIS to 2.5 in July. But they are unable to provide HTML email view with images on Blackberry sets running on ver. 4.5.
    Mobilink says that it is only available to BES users at the moment. BIS users will get it late on.
    Please explain, is it a Mobilink issue or RIM? as all around the world BIS users are getiing it.

    i dont beleive this. RIM wont leave  out Mobilink, infact they cant. The upgrade was done on BIS servers across the board not for some service providers. You probably wanna try another device or may be re-install oS On device?

    Unfortunately, the answer is, you don't. The requirements for HTML displayed in an e-mail reader are very different than those for HTML displayed in a browser. The output of Muse won't work as an HTML e-mail. You could upload the Muse site as a website and provide a link to it in an e-mail, but the HTML generated by Muse is not suitable for direct display by an e-mail program.

    I think LittlePaleFace hit on the most poignant issue:
    You'll be lucky to successfully email one raw image (some email services limit attachment to 10MB, some 20MB, ...), and 2+ is out of the question.
    So really, it's easy enough to email an image - as suggested here, but I would limit to one per message, and consider that what's really needed is a way to upload & send link to raws.
    UPDATE: I just tested 'YouSendIt'.  The free service only allows attachment of one file, so what I do is:
    * Export originals (or if you know where they are in your source tree, then you don't have to export them, just make sure xmp is fresh).
    * Zip
    * Attach Zip to email
    * Send using MS Outlook with 'YouSendIt' plugin that auto-detects large attachments and uploads them...
    Note: You can send 100MB that way for free (persists on server for up to 7 days) - call it a dozen zipped raws.
    ref: http://www.yousendit.com (very similar to winzip' sending service) - it's what most people use to send raws to Eric Chan of Adobe.
    If you want to send more MB, it's cheaper to simply purchase your own web space, and upload via ftp, than to purchase a dedicated big-email service, albeit (maybe) a tad less convenient. Not sure about the cloud - maybe it has even better and more convenient options(?)

  • Zen Micro Problem- Email support not helpin

    I tried email support, I waited over 24 hours just to have someone tell me to upgrade the firmware. I know this is not the problem and I have the upgraded firmware. I thought I would bring my problem here for assistance since I am getting canned responses from the email support team. Heres the problem:?Sunday Night- I put my Zen Micro on the USB charger, I have a trip on Monday and wanted to be sure I have a full charge. Monday morning- I notice that the Zen Micro is on, and has a blank screen. I can see a little line at the bottom, I can scroll through the keys but nothing on the screen. I take the battery out and put the unit away, at this point I have to leave and I opt not to take the unit with me.
    Friday- I come back from my trip and decide to further research my problem. I find that I cannot reset the unit, I cannot access the restore screen. I hold the power in the ON position and insert the battery. I wait about 5 seconds, nothing is happening so I let off the power. At this point I get a blank screen. I plugged the unit into the USB charger (unit is off) and I get a blank screen. The blue LED light around the unit dims and brightens which to me indicates it is charging. Windows XP gives me the found new hardware wizard but Media player 0 attempts to locate the device and comes back to tell me to connect the device. I just bought this unit in December and was not expecting it to fail me this soon.
    Saturday- I email support. The support team emails me back after 24 hours and gives me the firmware upgrade canned response. I have replied to that email but I would like to get this resolved pretty quick since I am now week into this ordeal.
    I do alot of flying, the MP3 player makes the long flights a little more tolerable. This is my first time to purchase a creative unit. I weeded through some threads here and found other folks with the same problem. I assume that Creative Labs is aware of this problem and working to implement a fix soon that will resolve any future problems.     What I am learning is that customer service is not really service. I was telling everybody about my great Zen Micro but, if I don't get a timely response, will start spreading the word. It's?frustrating to spend money on a product that doesn't even last eight months and that they don't support. I want to buy reliable electronics from companies that stand behind them. I wonder what it takes to get their attention.

  • No more email support? VERY DISAPPOINTED

    I am very disappointed that they took away their email support. It is super inconvenient for me and i'm guessing many others. I just spent 2 hours waiting for a representative to be available to chat, since that seems to be what Verizon thinks is a better solution. They are all still busy and that option ends at midnight. I am not in a place that i can make an actual phone cal either.
    I used to be able to email my question right when i thought of it, and go about my day and in 2 days i would have my answer. Now i am going to have to stop my life to wait for chat to be available. I just re-uped my contract today and am regretting it big time now that it seems it will only be an inconvenience. Congrats Verizon, you've got me for another 2 years. Can't wait to waste countless hours instead of only minutes with the email option.
    So what am i suppose to do when the chat isnt available, huh?

    I have to agree taking away the email option without chat being available during the business day is ludicrous. But it is a money saving measure. I seem to remember reading about VZW closing some CS centers. One I know was in Southfield MI.

    I have a HP C3180 all-in-one printer/scanner/copier. I can scan with the HP software but it is quite dreadful and I'm looking for a solution that does not involve installing lots of photo editing or card making programs that I never use.
    Image Capture does not seem to recognize this scanner. Does anyone know if there is an "Image Capture plugin" that I could grab somewhere? I am also curious as to whether Image Capture offers more scanning features than the (poorly designed) HP Scan Pro.
    Finally, is there a list of scanners supported by Image Capture?
    I'm running Leopard 10.5.8.

    No, there is no such plug-in. The HP scanner driver is installed as part of your HP software that came with the printer. If that software is not compatible with Leopard then you will need to visit the HP site and download a Leopard compatible driver.
    Image Capture should work with an HP TWAIN driver if one is available for your model. You can also contact HP support for assistance.
