Email sync settings

Apparently the email sync settings are no longer available in email settings.  I see illustrations with those settings available above "Notification settings", but they are not showing in my email settings.
I am running version ED2.  Were these settings removed (presumably erroneously) between ED1 and ED2?
The overall sync settings in available in "Accounts & sync" (accessible by menu from Home) do NOT prevent sync in the Email app

Whoops, apologies: I didn't know how to better word the question.
I'm aware that emails sync between devices using IMAP.
I'm asking if there is a way to sync the actual email account informations between my Mac and this new iPad? I'm speaking of the SMPT settings, the password, the email account, all of the settings that are required to set up an email account. Or, is this to be done manually? I get that once these settings are set up, all of the emails and folders, etc, will start to populate and sync. I'm referring to the setting up of the email accounts.

Hello hdlane, let's get to the bottom of this together! To turn on sync settings for email, scroll down from the top of the home screen. At the top right there is a button with three squares & two arrows facing in opposite directions. This is the "More Settings" section. Press this option and it iwill open a list. Near the bottom of the list turn on sync and the emails will update.

  • How do I sync my non-apple email account settings (5 email addresses) with my ipad air using OS X Mavericks?

I recently acquired a new iPad air (first time ipad user) and while I am quite happy with icloud, I seem to be unable to sync all of my remaining email account settings (automatically) with apple mail under OS X Mavericks.
I simply want to use all of my email accounts, which are setup in Mail (on my imac) with my iPad without having to add them manually to my iPad. This used to be no problem with all previous versions of OS X. Email account settings could be synchronized using the respective tool located within the info tap in itunes.
    Are there any solutions?
Do I really have to add each and every email account now separately to all of my idevices???
    This is ridiculous!!!

Unfortunately there seems to be no practical solution. You will have to go through the hassle of setting up your accounts manually.
Strange enough though, when setting up my new macbook (clean install, no data migration) all e-mail accounts where setup automatically through icloud (yes, even my non-apple accounts).
I guess and this is a rough guess that this is supposed to work with all other idevices too.

  • I don't understand how to sync settings in mail settings to fill lesser number of emails in my inbox

i don't understand how to sync settings in mail settings to fill lesser numbers of emails in my inbox

OK and when I run desktop manager then what do I do?  There are no instructions after this setup with my mobile carrier, they just leave me hanging.  Also, is my phone going to be wiped or will it just update the OS?  I don't want to lose all my settings that took me hours to setup on this thing and have to redo everything all over again.  Backup?  I don't understand how to do that either (again all of this is new to me).  I don't have a second phone where I can call T-Mobile on the phone and have them walk me through it, I only have my cell that's it.  They refuse to give me instructions unless I'm on another phone when I call them, why they won't let me write them down is beyond me...these carriers are getting mighty picky these days on customer service/technical support.

  • TS3899 I can't find the 'sync settings' in the mail settings to limit the number of emails in my account

I can't find the 'sync settings' in the mail settings to limit the number of emails stored on my ipad.

That option depends on what kind of mail account it is. On an Exchange account, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Tap the account and you should see "Mail days to sync." If that option isn't there, you won't be able to change it. You could always clean up your inbox on the server.

  • Retrieving Missing Sync Settings When Upgrading From an Older Version of Firefox to the latest version.

I initially set up my Sync account using an add-on for an older version of Firefox and have since upgraded to the latest version. But now my browser acts as if I don't have a sync account set up at all. When I attempt to create a new account, it says that my email address is already being used which tells me that my sync information is still on the the servers. So how do I retrieve my sync settings when settings are missing within my browser?

I resolved the problem in Snow Leopard by logging out of my (admin) account and logging into my daughter's account on the same machine. She doesn't have admin privileges, so when I tried to install Firefox 4 in her account, I had to authenticate with my admin identity and PW. Installation went smoothly after that. My guess is that you could also simply create a new account on the same machine and install Firefox 4 from that. I have no idea why this works.

  • Are there any Outlook Email Sync Tools Available f...

Hi, I've had the n900 for a while now, bit peeved with it, was sold as having proper tbt gps etc, that's another story I guess and one which is well documented elsewhere . Only getting round to setting up my email sync now and guess what, it doesn't work!! You don't seem to be able to sync emails between Outlook and the n900, not using PC Suite or OVI suite from what I can see. My work domain and mail is hosted on gmail, I leave a copy of the messages on the server so I can get in Outlook and on the device. Sometimes when I read a message, or reply to a message on the n900 it will never come through to Outlook, even though a copy is being left on the server. it would be nice if a sync tool was available for this, anyone know of any?
    Thanks
    Eamonn

you have a couple of options.
first, you have to know that ALL messages you send from your n900 do not get put on the server, but are actually in your "sent" folder on you n900.   so you will need to open that folder, and select all, then move to a folder on your server.....should you be using imap.
next.   i would recommend that you set up your email as imap.  it is similar to using MS exchange except that it is free, it does not sync your contacts, it does not sync you calendar.  but works great.  you will be able to see all your folders on your gmail account and even be able to transfer all your sent email on you n900 to your sent email on your gmail account.
i would stay away from OVI suite as it will just make a mess.   with the n900, it is not necessary to have anything sync with outlook, except your contacts, notes, calendar.  so use PC Suite instead as it works solid!
now, since you are new, there is a way to make your n900 email work much faster and smoother as well.
first, install these repositories to your n900 for future use.  just click on the links within the browser of your n900 and they will auto-install for you.
    EXTRAS-TESTING
    EXTRAS-DEVEL
now open your appmanager and install rootsh.  (this will help you for later as you read in this forum...at least for things that CPitchford and Ceroberts75 post)
now, here are directions to make your email client work much faster.  since i cannot attach a .tar file to this, if you send me a pm, i will send you a link to download a safe copy of it for you to use.
save the .tar file to root folder (your root folder is going to be n900 or whatever you named your unit)
    open xterm
    sudo gainroot
    cd MyDocs
    to install, use this code:
    tar xzf modest-3.4.2-baxyp-1.tar.gz  -C /
NOTE:  There are 2 spaces after the ".gz" and 1 space after the "-C"
it will just do an immediate prompt again, and seem like nothing happened, but it did.
to uninstall and go to original settings, use this code:
    apt-get --reinstall install libtinymail-camel-1.0-0 modest
now for the Nokia Messaging:  i started a thread for this Nokia Messaging.   Nokia messaging will auto-sync all your email like stated above, but there are different limitations to alerts and such on the n900 and if you only have a few email addresses, imo, it is better to just set them up in the modest email client (standard email installed).  it will also save a few taps everytime you have to see the email.
    FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS:
with symbian, you just need to go to email.nokia.com and install it.
but...on maemo, it is built in.
    open email client
    menu
    new account
next (wait for it to search)
    choose your region
    service provider:  Nokia Messaging
    next
e-mail address: (to the nokia messaging account you have for login)
password: (to the nokia messaging account you have for login)
    next
it will search...and probably have an error with server and then ask to have you put in all the advanced information.  use this information below:
    email address:
    your nokia messaging login email
    incoming:
    mail.nokia.com
    143
    outgoing:
    mail.nokia.com
    587
    with no securities used.
    next
this should do it and then you will see it start to sync.
then you can go into the settings of nokia messaging and set up the sync settings and times.
now when you open your email client, you will see "Nokia Messaging"
when you tap on that, you will now see all the email addresses you have set up for nokia messaging.
you can add up to 10 email addresses on the nokia messaging....and i am currently using 6 on my integrated email client...so you can have at least 16 email address on your n900 now, probably up to 20.

  • ICloud email sync - images not showing

I have email synced through iCloud on my Macmini and MBP. Images in emails show fine on my Mini, but not on my MBP. I've checked my mail preferences on my MBP but these appear to be fine. There appears to be no differences in my mail settings on both machines so I am wondering if there is an iCloud setting I am missing - has anyone come across this?

    Hi SPSAdminTC,
According to your description, my understanding is that when you open the email in the phone, the image in the mail body didn't show up correctly.
As you can access the images in browse, the issue seems more related to the outlook client.
I suggest you can try to open another mail which includes pictures to check whether it works correctly.
    Best Regards

  • Can I sync settings with multiple accounts?

I just got Creative Cloud for Teams at work, and I have to sign in to it using my work email address. If I ever leave this job and get CC for myself, or I start at another company, I won't have access to that account any more, nor will I have access to my old work computer. How can I carry over to a new account all my settings from the CC apps that support Sync Settings?

The short answer I received from Adobe was to log in at home using my work account info, open the programs, then log out and back in with my home credentials and save my settings. I was a little worried that would be a violation of some policy, they they assured me it was not, at least in my case. Here's the script:

Rajesh Joshi: Hello. Welcome to Adobe Technical Support.
Rajesh Joshi: How are you doing today?
RICHARD VALENTINE: I'm doing well. Thank you.
Rajesh Joshi: So how may i assist you today?
RICHARD VALENTINE: I utilize Adobe CC at work as a Team Member, and also at home (personal account). Is there any way to sync my workspaces automatically? I know Adobe Premiere CC has an option for this when syncing, but I don't see this option on any other CC product. Thanks!
Rajesh Joshi: So are you looking to Sync the files that you have?
RICHARD VALENTINE: I need to sync my workspaces from work, with my home computer, but they are two different CC accounts.
RICHARD VALENTINE: My work computer is an Adobe Teams account, my home computer is my private adobe CC members account.
Rajesh Joshi: May i know about both the cc accounts?
RICHARD VALENTINE: my work account is registered to [email protected]
RICHARD VALENTINE: My home account is registered to [email protected]
Rajesh Joshi: Ok so you have two different CC account, one is team and one is admin and you want to sync the files between them.
    Rajesh Joshi: Is that correct?
    RICHARD VALENTINE: Yes.
Rajesh Joshi: Please allow me a moment while I look into your account & verify the details.
    RICHARD VALENTINE: Thank you.
    Rajesh Joshi: Your welcome
RICHARD VALENTINE: I was thinking I could log in at home with my work ID, and import the settings, then log out and back in with my personal account and save the workspaces and settings, though I wanted to make sure I am not violating any Adobe CC policies by doing that.
Rajesh Joshi: Richard you can use your team account on two machines and its under the adobe policies.
    RICHARD VALENTINE: Awesome. Thank you!
Rajesh Joshi: Your welcome, so it seems that you have got the answer for the question that you had.

  • Email Syncing

    Hi All
Apologies if this has already been covered somewhere.....But...
Firstly, I love the iPhone, it's another reinvention of the wheel by Apple, so well done. Secondly, I am a qualified technician, so really should know more - but networking and email syncing is not my strong point. I will try and best explain my issue in the hope it's a simple fault and can be rectified:
My iPhone is synced to all my email accounts (I have four seperate ones, including MobileMe all POP3) yet only my .me account let's me know I have receieved an email. With the other accounts I have to go in to their inboxes on the iPhone before any email come through.... Any ideas on this? I have checked in iTunes and all mail is set to sync...
    My thanks in advance!

The setting under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes for syncing email accounts is for transferring email account settings only from your computer to your iPhone, which is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPhone so you don't have to manually create the accounts with the iPhone's Mail client. This has nothing to do with syncing email account mailboxes and messages or an email account being checked for new messages.
On your iPhone, what is your Fetch setting for automatically checking for new messages?
Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data.
Under the Fetch section, the following settings are available:
    Every 15 minutes
    Every 30 minutes
    Hourly
    Manually

  • Email syncing question

I have recently switched to only the iphone for retrieving/reading my email. Thus, as is normal practice, I leave some in the inbox indefinitely if it is not yet dealt with or is a reminder I need. During backup/sync, does the iphone backup the messages in the inbox, or is this expected to also be in Outlook (with which it syncs calendar/contacts but no longer gets email on my PC)

I don't think e-mail is synced at all. It is retrieved from the server like any other mail application.
Here is an article found by searching Apple support.
"You can use iTunes to sync content on your computer (such as music, podcasts, videos, ringtones1, photos, email account settings, contacts, calendars, and bookmarks) with your iPhone or iPod touch2. Syncing makes sure this content is the same on your iPhone or iPod touch and computer. iTunes will also create a backup of settings and certain other information on your iPhone or iPod touch when you sync to use in case you want to restore the software on your iPhone or iPod touch or transfer this information to a different device. Backup information includes information such as mail settings, text messages, notes, call history, contact favorites, sound settings, widget settings, certain network settings, and other preferences. Applications purchased from the App Store are included in the backup, however they can only be successfully restored to the same device that they were backed up from."

  • [Forum FAQ]Microsoft account sync settings in Windows 10 Technical Preview

    Summary
Since Windows 8, Microsoft has introduced Microsoft Accounts. When you sign in to your PC or device with a Microsoft account, you
can check email anytime, get Apps from the Windows Store,  and keep all your favorite stuff—devices, photos, friends, games, settings, music, and so on—up to date and in sync.
    From the release of
Windows 10 Technical Preview, many users have upgraded to this new OS. You may would like to keep the personalization settings, such as Desktop, Themes, Start screen, Tiles and so on. It is smart to achieve this with the help of Microsoft accounts.
    Solution
This article describes how to implement synchronization settings with the help of Microsoft accounts by an example.
Note: The previous OS has connected to a Microsoft account and has been configured related sync settings.
Example: In Windows 8.1, the layout of Start screen is shown as below, two extra icons have been pinned to the Start screen: Facebook which is needed to be installed manually and
Control Panel which is a built-in item by design.
Note: Start menu is been used by default in Windows 10 Technical Preview, if you want to switch to Start screen, please right click
Taskbar\Properties\Start Menu, which is as shown below, uncheck the option
Use the Start menu instead of the Start screen, then sign out and sign back.
    Steps
    Press Windows Logo +C, click
Settings\Change PC Settings\OneDrive\Sync settings, and then turn on
Sync your settings on this PC.
Configure corresponding settings according to your demand. The settings of this example are shown as below:
Connect the same Microsoft account in Windows 10 Technical Preview, configure the same sync settings, wait for several minutes, or restart Task Manager, sign out and sign back, restart. The setting configured in the previous system
would be synchronized to the new OS, which is shown as below:
From the picture above, we can find that the layout of Start screen is almost the same with the one of previous OS, Facebook and Control Panel are also synchronized to the Start screen in Windows
10 Technical Preview. However, since Facebook is not a built-in app, you need to click the icon to install it before using it. Here we can see that the synchronized apps have not been installed.
In this example, Background and Lock screen have also been synchronized, and the Taskbar has also been placed to the left edge just like the configurations in the previous system which is shown as below:

Thank for the write up.  I have "streamlined" the process to make it forward compatible with the new Tech Previews.
    I am using the following.
    - MDT 2013
    - Windows 8.1 ADK
    - Additional edits to LTIApply.wsf as detailed in original
article with some modifications listed below.
    - Custom DISM script (link)
    1) Edit LTIApply.wsf and change the following code.
    Old Code
    If Left(oEnvironment.Item("OSCurrentVersion"), 1) >= "6" then
    New Code
    If ((Left(oEnvironment.Item("OSCurrentVersion"), 1) >= "6") or (Left(oEnvironment.Item("OSCurrentVersion"), 2) = "10")) then
Then remove the following code and replace with the new code.
    Old Code
    Elseif Left(sOSBuild, 1) < "6" then
    iRetVal = ApplyImage( "nt52" )
    New Code
    Elseif Left(sOSBuild, 1) < "6" and Left(sOSBuild, 1) > "2" then
    iRetVal = ApplyImage( "nt52" )
When it comes to DISM, no need to change the current structure.  Use the script at the following location and it will pull the DISM files from the Windows 10 WIM file automatically for you and apply them to the installation session.  Does
not modify your MDT 2013 ADK in any way.
A very smart guy figured this out, many kudos to Frank Lesniak for coming up with this little trick.

After making only these changes, I am now able to deploy Windows 10 Technical Preview builds 9879 - 10061.
    Enjoy!  :)

  • Email Sync and Schedules

Hi, Ive just got an iPhone 4 (OS level 4.2.1) and Im trying to work out if I can set my email sync schedule based on time of day?
With all my previous phones (Windows Mobile and Symbian S60) I could set a peak and off peak schedule so I could have push mail for peak and manual for off peak.
It doesn't (suprisingly?) seem to be available in the mail settings so was wondering if there are any workarounds or apps to do this?
Im getting tired of being woken up by my phone when I get emails at night time as I dont always remember to switch off the alert sounds.
Also I have 2 email accounts, one ActiveSync with Exchange that I use for work and an IMAP account for my personal email. I dont want to sync my IMAP account most of the time but even though I have it set to manual it still downloads my IMAP mail whenever I enter mail to read my ActiveSync mail. Is there anyway of turning this off and just have it sync when I choose to?
    Thanks for any advice

Ok thanks for the reply I thought that might be the case.
Maybe one day Apple will consider providing these features.
For me the lack of a peak/off peak schedule is quite frustrating and all my previous phones had this

    Hello nothingspecial,
We know how important it is to have your e-mail settings working properly. After all, there are times in which notifications may not be desired. I'm eager to partner with you to get this resolved for you. Let's start with what software and android version do you have installed on the Galaxy S 4? Can I assume that you are using the default e-mail app? If you can share this info as well as advise if we are working with a work or personal AOL e-mail then we can customize a solution for you.
