Email sync turned off

Repeatedly having the same problem with the galaxy s4.
"email sync turned off"
Only when I go into my aol email. When I go into other email accounts it does not do it there.
I turn back on the sync. Bam - a day or 2 later, same thing. email sync turned off.
Any ideas??????

Files and font sync turn off working with InDesign..

Files and font sync turns off when I work with InDesign directly on the CC disctop files folder. It use to be ok to work directly in sync mode, but apparently not any more. I guess the problem is the backup file that InDesign creates, that consist of signs behaps not allowed (?). It use to work for me, but not any more..?
Do anyone els have the same problem?

Thanks for your reply. In the Creative Cloud Help page I get, it says: "Save and close the file when you're done editing it and the error goes away.", but I actually have to reconnect. The bad thing about this is that it turns off the font sync as well when I was working.
I have temporarely solved the problem, simply be changing the name of the file I'm working on. I have tryed to reproduce it with a different name - all with leagal signs according to the page mensioned above - with no success (which is positive). Then I tryed to move the file to a new folder within the folder I was working on, and then it worked without problem. Strange.
I guess, if I run in to the same problem again, I will just try to change the name.

When I plug a LaCie external hard drive into my new Mac mini, [os 10.9.1], to use with Time Machine it effects the performance of my internet and email. Turn off Time Machine and unplug the hard drive and the internet and email are working normally again

Getting ~/Library to sync in background when login/logout sync turned off

I have a bunch of laptop users with very slow network connections where I need to turn off login/logout sync and only sync data in the background manually. Problem is, if you turn off login/logout sync it also turns off syncing ~/Library in the background.
Now if you use the Details tab for MCX setting in WGM you can add the key "Sync Preferences in the Background" and set it to "sync" but it doesn't make any difference.
Anyone know how to work around this so I don't have to sync anything at login/logout but can still sync Preferences in background when I manually do a sync?

I don't think it's in the GUI, but you can manage this stuff pretty granularly with the following boolean flags in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.homeSync.plist:

I think the keys you want are syncPreferencesInBackground and/or syncPreferencesAtSyncNow. However, I found that this unpredicatably didn't sync everything. PHD has a generally hard time with open files and many of these files are open. Also, note that 10.5 changed in that it considers any hidden folders loose in your home folder (e.g. .ssh/) to be included in "Preference" syncing only occurring at Logout and Login. This isn't really documented or shown anywhere. I'm pretty sure that they are ignored in the background *even with* the above flags in use. Note that I haven't played with these in a while, so your mileage might vary. Perhaps they're just not ready for prime time.

Actually, I just remember where and how I found these: You need to follow the directions for "Using the Preference Editor to Manage Core Services" on page 236 of the User Management manual. This gives you the location of Preference Manifest for Home Folder Syncing which has a bucketload of cool options, including automatic conflict resolution.

Should ClamAV be running while Email & iCal turned off?

I have a 10.6.5 Xserve with errors logged about the ClamAV installation begin outdated. The server incorrectly had iCal server running (but never used), which I have turned off, expecting it to also stop the ClamAV errors. Even after a reset to ensure the new launchd settings were loaded I still receive update errors every 6 hours from ClamAV (while some other ClamAV messages have stopped).
I do not want this machine for iCal or Email serving, so I'm wondering why ClamAV is even running.
Does ClamAV look for updates irrespective of if it's being used, or was it activated by iCal and for some reason hasn't stopped now?
Is it as easy as turning email service on and off?
Should I disable ClamAV in launchd?
other thoughts?

Hi,
Clam runs on an OS X server no matter if it it used or not. It doesn't do any harm, so you can ignore it. If you want, you could deactivate it in launchd, should not affect anything else. I'd just leave it there and let it jabber away into the logs...log space is cheap, and the second you will activate/install a service that relies on Clam, you will regret having spent time deactivating it after you spent time until you remember that you deactivated it and reactivated it then...

Lightroom Freezes with Syncing turned off

I've have LR CC installed since a few hours after it was released, and have had zero issues with it, even when leaving it running for days on end. But today, I've been working away and noticed that LR seemed a little sluggish. To that end, I turned off Syncing with LR Mobile and Address Lookup, and that quickly improved the situation. However, if I walk away from the computer for a few minutes, and come back, LR is frozen! The OS is alive and well, but if have to Force Quit LR. It doesn't matter which module I'm in, or what I'm doing, walking away for 2 or 3 minutes, causes it to freeze. I've just re-enabled Syncing and am now attempting to see if this resolves the issue. Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe I'll turn off the Collections that are syncing, and see if that makes any difference, if I also turn off Syncing.

I'm not sure about the iphone dual dock but i do know for a fact that the dock that come with the iphone can charge the iphone while the iphone is turned off, plus it charge your iphone faster....

Cloud Sync turned off

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. I am new to Verizon, so I added contacts to my account online. It's supposed to sync up with my phone, but it doesn't. When I open the Cloud app under Accounts on my phone, it says sync is turned off, the Sync Now is grayed out, and there seems to be no way to change it. The Backup Assistant only backs up numbers on my device. It doesn't restore numbers from the website to my phone. My contacts are all from Google, and there's no way to change them to device. They would all have to be entered manually. I want this to work correctly!

Let's work to get your contacts transfered, wbpatton! If the device is not directly allowing you to move Google contacts to the device to allow the Cloud to recognize the need for backup we would have to manually transfer. Using a computer, log into your Gmail account and choose to Export the contacts then log into the Cloud and choose to manage the contacts. You will be presented with option to import the .csv file you previously created from Gmail. I am sorry that we are unable to support the direct link from the Gmail servers.

Turn off email or turn off email alert sounds

I was wondering if there is a way for the Black Berry program to send emails only during a certain time period. I’d like to stop them at about 10:00 PM and start back at about 7:00 AM if it can. But still get calls a text messages.

do you have emails set up via BES or BIS? depending on device you can go to options and then network and set data service to OFF and turn it back in the morning, this can be done only manually, cant specify time.

Cannot change iCloud ID in iOS8 - Can't Sign Out without turning off Find My iPad - which needs the password for the old iCloud ID

I have read the older responses to questions re how to change the iCloud account from an old ID/email address (OLD ID) - to a new ID/email address (CURRENT ID). They all say go to Settings>iCloud - and Delete the iCloud account. In iOS 8 - there is no Delete - but there is a Sign Out. BUT - when I choose the Sign Out it shows a pop-up with the OLD iCloud ID - saying I must first sign IN to iCloud and enter a Password Required to turn off the Find My iPad feature.
I have tried using the password I remember as being correct for the OLD iCloud ID. Doesn't work.
I have tried using the password for the CURRENT ID - even though the pop-up has the OLD ID displayed. Doesn't work.
I'm out of ideas - except Reset??
Should I Reset All Settings?

I finally found a work-around in another thread on this Using iPad community. Basically, I had to first make sure that the Messages and Facetime were associated with the CURRENT/NEW ID. (I could do this by simply erasing the OLD ID and typing in the new - in General>Messages and General>Facetime. I then used by PC to change my Apple ID back to the OLD ID/EMAIL - but leave the new password alone.
I then went back to Settings>iCloud - clicked on Sign Out. When it asked me to log on -- with the OLD ID/EMAIL -- to turn off the Find My Phone - I did so using the Password that was originally used with the CURRENT/NEW ID. This worked. So I finally was able to close out of the iCloud account that used the OLD ID/EMAIL.
I then went back on my PC to change my Apple ID back to the CURRENT/NEW ID/EMAIL.
I then went back to the iPad Settings>iCloud - and signed on using the CURRENT/NEW ID/EMAIL.
So everything is OK now.
WHEW!!!
Not sure why this has to be so difficult. But thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Email Sync Deleted From Inbox After Download

I have a Galaxy S5 and I have the email account setup to sync and download my email from my cable account. The emails are reflected in my inbox on my phone; but after I download the email from the server to my Outlook on my pc, and deleted them from the server, my entire inbox on my phone is completely gone now. How can I download the email to my phone and keep them there even though I download it to my pc and delete the emails from the server? I used to have a Droid Bionic and I was able to download the email and it would stay on my phone email even though I later deleted them from the server. I tried to unsync the email account but now it won't download any emails at all. I hit refresh but it says the email sync is off, and no emails are downloaded. Am I missing some setting?

the only way it stayed on your phone after deleting from outlook/server was if you weren't syncing between the 2.
as long as sync is off, refreshing does nothing.
i've gone the opposite way, deleting costco, walmart, etc from the phone, so i wouldn't have to scroll thru tons of emails on the phone, if i was only looking for a single email by not checking "leave a copy on server"....so i could look at costco, walmart, etc on the pc when i had more time.

TS3274 My IPAD is on and is making the right noises as I am receiving emails. The screen is blank and I can not get it to turn on. I have tried to turn off and on again which is tricky when there is a blank screen. I have synced my ipad with itunes...

My IPAD has a blank screen. It is on and working because I can hear the ping of my emails arriving. I turned off and on as best I could which is tricky as the screen is blank. I synced with itunes and checked for updates. All ok.
Screen is still blank.
I can reset the ipad but I did this a month or so ago and it took forever and it lost all of my music which then took forever to get back on properly.
SO If I can avoid this I would.

Try reset iPad (not Restore)
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

Set up my Outlook sync but need to turn off sync with Sent, Drafts and deleted folders

When I go into settings it greys out these as they are already checked. So I selected Sync all email folders assuming I could turn off the already selected folders but it only allows me to select additional folders vs uncheck existing folders.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To function properly and seamlessly, it needs to be syncing those folders all the time. As you are writing a message, it needs to be auto saving to the Drafts folder, and synchronizing to the server so as to protect from catastrophic device failure. Likewise, Sent Items need to be constantly placed onto your server as that is an equally necessary function. Likewise with deleted items (though there may be separate issues there).
Suffice to say that, if the box is already checked AND it's grayed out, then you can't affect the setting.
