Email syncing on a Mac

Hey All,
I just switched from an iPhone to a Blackberry.  I am sure this is just a simple set up thing, but I have not been able to figure out how to get my phones email to sync with my MacBook Pro desktop?  For example,  when I read and responded to an email on my iPhone,  when I opened mail on my laptop, the accounts would sync so I was not spending time reading emails twice.  The other issue is that I do not have a record of sent emails that are sent from the phone.  What was also nice on the iPhone was the feature enabling me to keep calendars and contacts synced at all times as well.  Is any of this possible on the blackberry?  I am wondering if I can do it when I sync via pocket mac or missing sync at the end of each day, however I have not gotten either of them to work either.  I would think that Blackberry has the email syncing thing figured out at least.  My email accounts are all set up as imap.....its also annoying that everytime I send an email from my phone,  I get a copy of it on my desktop as new mail?  Someone tell me this all does get better!
Thanx in advance for any help you can toss my way

Vector, Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.
If your BlackBerry is on a personal BIS account setup, you won't have your mail and messages reconciled. Sorry.
Calendar and Contacts--yes, via the USB cable and Desktop Manager, or on a Mac, with PocketMac or Missing Sync.
Blackberry actually does have the mail reconciation figured out (way before the iPhone, lol), but you have to pay for that service. Called BES, enterprise service.
Good luck.

  • IPhone email Sync with multiple Macs

Problem: 2 (actually more) Macs + 3 email accts, 1 is mobile-me & this not problem. One business & works great on office iMac G4 but can't send from my home with this acct; however this not a problem because I just send with my home (Comcast isp) acct.
Trying to setup new iPhone 3G. Receive & send with Comcast & mobile-me but Unable to send with office (BellSouth) acct.
Is there a way thru MobileMe or just thru prefs to sync iPhone in my office with the Bellsout acct but NOT with the others that are all working fine. My intent is to both send & receive with all 3 accts.
An alternative option would be---with iPhone can I select to 'send' with 1 of the 2 fully functional accts i.e. Reply but change to 1 of the 2 sending accts.
Thanks, sorry I'm being so verbose.

Well, I'm afraid it's not exactly the case...
Syncing contacts, calendars & bookmarks does not work properly... unless I missed somethiing in the process...
Basically, every time I sync on another computer, I get the choice to either replace or merge the information. that works fine until I want to erase something. That's especially annoying with the calendar.
    Let's say I have computer 1 (C1) and computer 2 (C2).
=> I synchronise on C1, fine, I go to C2, choose "merge data", still fine... now I erase a meeting on C2, and synchronise again. As C2 was the last computer on which I synchronised the iPhone, perfect, the meeting is also removed from the iPhone calendar...
Now I go back home and want to synchronise on C1, as the last sync was on C2, I get asked again to either merge or replace data. I choose merge... As the erased meeting was still on C1, it gets back to the iPhone.
Basically, I'd need to keep track of every entry I erase, to make sure I erase it on both computers before making any sync, which basically ruins the whole concept of syncing...
If anybody has a solution, please speak loud... that was working fine on windows mobile, so why not on the iPhone?

  • Email sync between itunes mac and iphone

Hi, i'm french so sorry for my english.
Yesterday i try to sync my new iPhone 6 and i just see that on my itunes under "info" the possibility of sync my email accounts desapear ???? i see the possibility of sync my contacts, my calendar but not my email account ???
my question is how can i do to sync my email account : before when i delete several email on the mail app of my mac, if after i sync my iphone they desapear false from my iphone. And i would like to have this possibility back so how can i do.
    thanks for your answers

I have gone to setting and tried to unmark and remark Notes within iCloud and within gmail and any other accounts I can. I have tried relogging in to all accounts that have Notes marked on both the phone and the computer. I have tried resetting the network connection. I have tried moving the notes on the computer from one account to another to see if that changes anything. I have tried plugging the phone into the laptop and resolving things that way.
I normally have synced through iCloud and also through gmail. My iCloud storage is nearly full but I didn't think that that would be one of the effecting factors?
I am all out of ideas. It just stopped all of a sudden?

  • ICloud email sync problem on mac os x mavericks

    Hi,
I have a serious problem with my iCloud email on my mac. I have been using iCloud email for few years now and I never had this problem. But I am having the problem after upgrading my iMac to latest mac os x mavericks 10.9.3 couple of months back.
The problem is, when someone sends me an email, it comes to my iCloud mail immediately with no issues. That means if I login to my iCloud mail through a web browser, I see the email there. But that email may not appear to my iMac mailbox. Occasionally some emails arrive but some not. Some emails come lately some not at all.
So the mailbox on my mac is totally unusable because I am sure not all emails are seen there, so I have to keep logging into mail through browser to check if there is a new email.
I am using me.com email address.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Hi there, suddenly I can't send email from my iphone. I use mac mail, have deleted it, restored it, done a sync to my mac book, read endless help paged and still get the message *unable to connect to smtp.me.mail . Some one please help!!!

Does anyone know why my mac/me mail would suddenly stop sending mail? Happend a few weeks back since the software update and now won't send a thing. LIke I said I deleted the acount, set it up again, did a sync to my mac book, checked settings again and still it wont send mail. Received fine.
I've looked through the threads but cant find one for me/mac mail on the iphone with same problem

I spoke with Apple Support this morning and they believe anything MobileMe related is due to the conversion over to iCloud that's taking place.
As for other email clients, check with your host to see if settings have changed on their end. I use inmotionhosting.com and over the weekend the updated their outgoing requirements so that a password authentication is now needed.
Hope that helps get some on the right path to resolving their issues!

  • How do I stop the EMAIL sync between my desktop  and my laptop?

How do I stop the email sync between my desktop computer and my laptop? Right now, the laptop is set to automatically load my email when I click on mail. I use my desktop daily; laptop only when traveling. The laptop is somehow set to receive ALL messages, so I get messages that are several weeks/months old. I want to be able to manually sync and NOT have all of the hundreds of old, already viewed messages sent to my laptop. However, I DO want my desktop to receive all of my old messages so that I can have them when I return from traveling. Thanks.

Actually, your mail isn't 'synchronizing' in the conventional sense at all. And, you are effectively trying to make it do so manually at the present time. As you have discovered, this simply does not work.
The only way that you can effectively address your requirements is to use IMAP—rather than POP3—technology. Using IMAP will allow you to readily control what is stored on the server, and will provide a view into that data store when you use your portable computer.
While is is possible to use POP3 and set one computer to delete mail from the server and the other not to, this is potentially fraught with problems, and will not fully address your concerns.
An IMAP option is available from such providers as Apple with .Mac, AOL with AOL Mail and AIM Mail, and Google with GMail. You can convert an existing POP3 account with such a provider to IMAP with little difficulty, or initiate a new IMAP account with such a provider and forward mail to it from providers who do not offer such an option.

  • Does email sync over iCloud also support sync of non iCloud email accounts?

I use mac, ipad and iphone with sync over iCloud. While ipad and iphone sync emails of both iCloud and non iCloud email accounts, email sync between mac and ios devices works only for iCloud email account.
Please clarify whether iCloud should sync emails of both iCloud and non iCloud email account across all apple devices (mac, iphone, ipad) or it is not designed to do so.
    Thank you.

    Thank you for clarification.
However, after rechecking everything again, I can cofirm that full sync of all email accounts (icloud and non icloud) on all apple devices works perfectly as long emails originate from ios device. Unfortunately, this does work if email is sent from mac.
    Thanks again.

  • How can I get my mail app to sync from my mac to iPhone, I don't have the 'info' option in iTunes?

How can i get my mail app to sync from my mac to iphone? i dont have the 'info' option in itunes!
I have created files within the mail app and want them to be the same on my mac and iphone.

You need a mail server that supports this then. Hotmail premium I believe does, but the free version does not. Gmail supports it, and any ISP that offers IMAP supports this capability. iCloud definitely supports it, so if you create a free iCloud email account and switch your primary email to it you would have this capability.

  • Sync Mail to .Mac

I recently transfered all my emails from Entourage to Mac Mail. Everything transfered beautifully. I had set up a tree of folders of all emails grouped in to specific topics in Entourage and they imported to mac mail in the same format. These emails are now listed under a folder called Import which is fine. however, this Import folder will not sync with my .Mac account. .Mac only shows the basic folders such as Inbox, Sent etc. Does anyone know how to get this Import folder to show up in my .Mac account online?

There should be another top-level .Mac folder, not lister under Inbox. Have a look at this example I found on the web:
    http://www.hawkwings.net/wp-content/uploads/2006/06/wp-images/threepanehack.jpg
The very last folder is the .Mac folder I am referring to. Here, it is apparently actually called ".Mac", not "[email protected]".

  • Best Email Sync options

right about to jump ship to Iphone.
currently running blackberry with enterprise server.
if i switch to iphone whats the best email option? syncing?
    should i go .mac?
    is it completely compatable?

Don't know what the best option is, but these work for me:
    For mail
    1. I connect to an exchange server via Imap (work) which auto-updates very 15 mins (or can manually update)
    2. I have a pop connection to Gmail
    3. I have an Imap connection to my home mail server
I could use .Mac to sync my Mac mail, but doesn't add anything
For contacts and calendar, I sync from Outlook on my work PC (Windows, boo!). I'm still experiementing to work out whether I'm better using the iPhone to sync up my Mac iCal/Address Book, or whether to use Plaxo (free, syncs iCal, Address Book, Outlook, loads of other stuff.
For tasks, I sync Outlook at work to Plaxo, and then use Safari on the iPhone. Not great but better than a poke in the ey with a sharp stick

  • Sync iphone to mac computer using OSX 10.6

    Hello group,
I have recently aquired a MiniMac computer and would like to sync my contacts from my IPhone 4S to it. The Mac is an older model with 120GB HHD and 2MB ram, running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  I called Apple and the tech advised against upgrading my OS to Lion, which would allow me to use iCloud.
HELP! How can I manually transfer my iPhone contents to my computer?

See Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive. (If you're only concerned about getting your contacts on your Mac, you could use an app like My Contacts Backup to back up your contacts on your phone and email them to your Mac.  Then open the email and double-click the attachment to import the contacts.)

  • Email sync problem between iPad Air and iPhone 6+

    Hello,
I have a user that travels quite a bit. We use Office 365 Enterprise
for our emails. He is reporting email sync issues between iPhone and iPad. Meaning
sometimes he will receive emails on the iPhone but not on the iPad or vice versa.
Both devices use the same AT&T network. Does anyone out there have any
suggestions as to what may be causing the sync problem between devices? I am
not sure if the devices ever have the same emails on the inbox. Does this make
sense? I will be happy to provide any other information if needed.
    Thank you!

    Hey daniel hkn,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like the email account may be configured and setup as a POP account. If so, check out this resource:
Using a POP account with more than one device - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201855
When using the same POP email account on more than one device, email messages may appear only on the first device that receives them. This occurs when an email client is configured to automatically remove email from the server after an email client has received it. You can configure your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac either to keep a copy of the email on the server, remove it after a certain number of days have passed, or keep it until you move it from your inbox.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Email Sync on pocketmac

Is anyone able to Sync email from device to Entourage or OXMail ?
I called Blackberry and was told that the function does not work ? It's just there !!
    Anyone ?
    Thanks

Forgot to mention, that my mac office Entourage is still the 03 version, not the new 2008 version. and I did download the new version of pocketmac, it all seems to be working, itunes, iphoto, ical, address book, all except Email !
The Sync just keeps on going, never stops.
I left it running for about 2 hours last night, then cancelled it.
Is anyone having a similar issue ?
Is anyone able to sync their blackberry email from device to mac (entourage or OXMail) ??
    Please help!
    Thanks,

  • Email sync settings

Apparently the email sync settings are no longer available in email settings.  I see illustrations with those settings available above "Notification settings", but they are not showing in my email settings.
I am running version ED2.  Were these settings removed (presumably erroneously) between ED1 and ED2?
The overall sync settings in available in "Accounts & sync" (accessible by menu from Home) do NOT prevent sync in the Email app

Whoops, apologies: I didn't know how to better word the question.
I'm aware that emails sync between devices using IMAP.
I'm asking if there is a way to sync the actual email account informations between my Mac and this new iPad? I'm speaking of the SMPT settings, the password, the email account, all of the settings that are required to set up an email account. Or, is this to be done manually? I get that once these settings are set up, all of the emails and folders, etc, will start to populate and sync. I'm referring to the setting up of the email accounts.
