Email: "the message has no content" ??

I have had my 3g about 10 days now, and email has been fine. Until yesterday, I started getting this weird message that says "the message has no content". Or I will get weird content, something that looks like the message is in reveal font setting. When I check my email from my laptop its fine. Some, not all, of the email that was already on my phone before yesterday are showing up normally. Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks.

I've seen "the message has no content" or "the message has been partially downloaded" often. Usually, it's b/c of a large message or something in heavy HTML. If I wait and have a decent connection, the message usually appears.

  • Email says message has no content

Everyone in family has an iphone but I am the only one that can not receive emails from my mom's email address.  It says "message has no content" and will have just a bunch of numbers/letters.  I have already compared all of our settings to make sure they are the same.  What am I missing?

What happens is the message header comes through first and gives you an alert. It sounds like your not getting a good connection as that "no content" message should go away after a second.
I see that too if I try to check the email right away but it goes away after a second.

  • EMail: "This message has no content"

(iPad 8.0.2)  Using the "Mail" app, SOME messages show the "To:", "Subject", and "Date/Time" lines with the Message Box showing: "This message has no content."
However, accessing mail (Yahoo Mail) via Safari (on the iPad) the message contents are properly displayed.  I first noticed this after getting the "This message has no content." comment on my iPad, and later seeing the message properly displayed on my iMac (10.9.5) using Safari to access Yahoo mail.
Using the "Mail" application on my iMac to access Yahoo mail, the message in question also displays properly.  Again, the iPad Mail "This message has no content." statement rarely happens and just on the iPad.
The work-around is easy, just access email via Safari when this occurs, however, any insight into WHY?  Thanks

It's doing that all through the iOS 7 version, too. It's a periodic thing, and seems to be a network problem I'm accessing the content. At a later time, that very same e-mail will have its contents displayed. Sometimes quitting the Mail app and starting it back up, may get it to display.

I have this same problem on my iMac since installing Mavericks. The emails download, I can see who they are from and when they came, but nothing shows up in the message pane. I can see emails I got before I installed Mavericks, although about half of them did disappear. Sure would like to find a fix--perhaps the 10.9.1 update will do it?

I cannot delete emails that show up in my inbox. The email says this message has no content with a date of 12/31/00

    I have this problem too.
    The entire email says
    ((No Sender)
    (No Subject)
    This message has no content
    Two are dated 12/31/69
and one came in today at 8:34pm (This last one has a "2" next to it which may indicate there are two of them?)
There is no trash icon on the screen and there doesn't appear to be ny way to delete them.
    How do I delete them?

    Hi 23672!
I have an article here that can definitely help you with that issue. The article is about what to do when a mail message has no content, and can be found here:
iOS 4: Unable to view message body preview or mail receives blank messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3426
Note that the article was written for iOS 4, but it will work in later iOS versions. Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!

  • HT1414 Why do I get 'This message has no content' with some e-mails on my iPad when the same messages can be received on my MacBook Pro without any problem, and how can I fix it?

Why do I get - 'This message has no content' - with some e-mails on my iPad when the same messages can be received on my Mac Book Pro without any problem and how can I fix it?

Is this a POP (POP3) email account?  If so, you MacBook Pro may be retrieving the email and deleting it off the server before your phone can.  Another possibility is that both your Mac and your phone are trying to retrieving it at the same time, and the POP server, which will only allow a single email client connection at a time, is locking out your phone resulting in the "has not been downloaded from the server" error.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

  • When I send a message to blueyonder the system says the message has been sent yet the recipient cannot find it in his emails or on the server.

I compose a message and press send. The system states that it connecting and then that the message has been sent. When the recipient looks for the message on his system and/or the server he cannot find the message. I have sent him messages direct from my server and also Outlook Express and he does get them it is only when using Thunderbird do the messages go missing. Do I have to use special settings to send messages to Blueyonder?

I'd suggest you contact your email provider. Similar problems have been reported from Virgin users.

  • Mail "this message has no content" for random Exchange messages

Are other people still having this issue with Mavericks Mail?  I saw many old threads for previous OS X versions.
I have a new MBP (supplied with Mavericks installed - now 10.9.2 Build 13C64) which connects to a local MS Exchange (Small Business Server 2010).  Mail is configured to collection mail from it and some other email accounts (eg .mac and Google).  Mostly this works fine but randomly I get some emails from the Exchange account which show "Loading ..." in the preview pane and then "This message has no content".  These messages show up on my iPhone with full content.
The suggested workaround, from some older thread, was to delete the message and then drag it out of the Trash.  This appears to work every time.
Is this a timing issue? Does Mail give up waiting for the Exchange server?
Are others still having this issue?

    Back up all data.
Select the message and delete it from the mailbox. It will be moved to the Trash mailbox. Immediately press the key combination command-Z to undelete.

  • Io7 "This message has no content" and incredibly slow search...

So, ever since upgrading to io7, I've had a few problems with Mail on my iPhone.  I'm using a standard IMAP configuration.
I suspect the principal problems here are that the mac is connecte 100% of the time to the email server and no longer has a batch of emails downloaded on the phone.
    1) Searching mail is orders of magnitude slower than it was before. Sometimes it just churns and churns.  It used to be nearly instant unless I specifically chose to "search for more messages on the server"
    2) At least a few times a day messages fail to download... I get "this message has no content".  Usually after a while these eventualy download.
    3) I finally figured out you could add "subject: from: etc..." to the search bar but why be so gimicky?  The original search filters were so much easier to use.  Now I have to find the dang colon key?

A friend of mine had the same problem with his search. When he found out that mine was super fast, he did some testing. He ended up taking out Email search.
Settings---> General---> Spotlight Search---> And remove Mail from the list of checked items.
Try that to see if the search speeds up some, I know you may not like that though.

  • How can I get rid of 14 e-mails that say "This message has no content."

How can I get rid of 14 emails on my iPad Touch that say, "This message has no content."  Since I can't open them, neither can I delete them.

    - Try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Can you delete them if you access them on another device?

  • "this message has no content" in Mountain Lion

Ever since I upgraded to Mountain Lion, I often receive "message has no content" for replies to the active email, meaning the one which has been clicked on, and is being displayed.  I have to close Mail and re-open before I am able to view the content of the message, though the "no content" error still appears in the email list.  Eventually it goes away.
Running 10.8.1, and receiving mail from Exchange 2010.  I do not observe this issue with email received by my Gmail account.

I currently have this issue, rebuilding and cleaning the mail boxes does nothing... I did not tice once I passed 3000 messages the mail application starts getting funky.
    Here are my symptoms:
First the email app stops marking read messages.
    App starts slowing down.
Calendar starts giving me it can not communicate with the server
Then it starts showing me no content email messages
So here is my opinion but I need help to confirm... Gathered from this very common problem...
Mac OS does not handle weak or slow internet connections well and does not recover well (Noticed at this at the airport today, also notice this on the iphone, bad wifi really kills any sort of functionality).  This might cause the requests to end unexpectedly and return nothing...
There seems to be a size limitation the mail application can handle properly or there is a memory leak in the mail application.   From what I read it uses a free DB product that likely doesn't handle large amounts of data very well.
Likely going to switch to Outlook 2011 unless Apple fixes these problems (Apple likely will not fix this as seen in all the dead end blogs for this subject), or not use the mac for work as this makes things more painful than it needs to be.

  • Sending mai from iPad results in "This message has no content"

Hi. I'm using an iPad 3G against a POP3/SMTP e-mail account. Mail seemed to be working fine for the first few days, but now whenever I compose and send a message, it's failing to send the body of the message.
The message looks fine until I tap the "Send" button. If I look at it in the Outbox before it gets sent, it says "this message has no content". After it goes out, I can see it in the Sent folder, but the list says "this message has no content" and the detail view shows the correct recipients and subject, but where the body should appear it says "this message has no content" for new messages or "This message cannot be displayed because of the way it it formatted. Ask the sender to send it again using a different format or email program. multipart/alternative"
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

I had the same problem with POP3 e-mail but found that my gmail (an IMAP account) worked fine.
Both accounts were sync'd from my iMac. One thing I noticed is that on both the iMac and iPad the outgoing POP3 mail server (SMTP) was set to none. On the iMac this hasn't caused any problems but I wondered if it was an issue for the iPad.
iPad Mail had a list of outgoing SMTP server addresses in the secondary server section but they were all disabled. I enabled the one for my POP3 account and the problem with the no "content messages" was fixed for the next e-mail I sent.
So I'd suggest trying the following:
    1. Go to Settings and select the Mail, Contacts, Calendar item.
    2. Select your POP3 mail Account.
    3. Scroll down to the Outgoing Mail Server Section (it might be obscured by the keyboard)
    4. Select it to bring up the next screen.
    5. You'll probably see that the Primary Server is Not Configured. But look to see if your POP3 server is listed in the Other SMTP Severs section. If it is just enable it.
    6. If no POP3 servers are listed you'll have to get the information from your e-mail provider and enter it in the Primary Server section (I'd guess).
    Hope this works for you.
    Ron
