Email to Blog

I have created several emails that I sent out to my team.  These emails are full of images - snips (I use the snipping tool for now).  It took me a while but I finally decided to set up a blog on our enterprise SharePoint site, which is really
the way I need to go.
I am looking for suggestions on the best way to take my existing emails, and upload them.
So far, the only way I can get it to work is to copy my email, and paste into word.  Then publish from word.  Which would be fine, except that it does not upload my pictures.
In order for the pictures to upload, I have had to re-snip each picture and re-paste it (Just selecting the pic and cutting and pasting does not work - I have to re-snip it).  When it uploads it uploads the assets as well, so that works (Although soon
my blog asset folder is going to be full of a lot snips...)
I went a little crazy on some of these emails, so the thought of re-snipping, while not out of the question, makes me hope for a better way.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Ok, I found a way.  Not sure if its the best, but this works for me.
In outlook, save as HTML.  Open the HTML file in Word.  Publish.
From now on, I can create in WOrd and publish, but this will get me through the first several that I just emailed...

  • How can I get the Email Campaigns Blog module to display correctly in Outlook?

I'm having a bit of trouble with this. I've used the email campaign builder to build a campaign; added the blog module to it and applied a custom template to it so that it should display correctly, but outlook has other ideas...
Here's what it should look like:
and here's what outlook gives me:
this is built within tables and the tables and cells all have set widths of 520px, yet the blog module seems to ignore this and somehow sit outside of them, breaking the template (BUT only in outlook).
Is this a problem anyone has experienced before?
Any ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks
    Sam

HTML Email Campaign design is still a very tricky beast.  There are no standards like the makers of the major web browsers have been pushing for and adhering to over the years for web designers so since there are any number of email clients like your native mobile phone email clients, desktop clients like Outlook and Thunderbird and then web-based email clients like Gmail, Yahoo!, etc. there's no standard to display HTML in emails so each client does things differently.
Outlook and Gmail in the past have been the worst offenders. Fixing it is nothing simple.  You need to go into your markup and make sure every table has a width set both in the inline STYLE attribute as well as the WIDTH attribute on the TABLE element.
Outlook 2007 and 2010 are both horrendous at displaying HTML uniformly- as it relies on the Microsoft Word rendering engine.  Most of the time for my clients I tell them that if the end user can read and click links in Outlook then it's a win-- they're used to seeing horrible formatted emails no doubt.  But, if you find most of your email list is using Outlook (corporate/enterprise customers) then you should keep tweaking it.
It's impossible to tell from screenshots what the issue is-- it's likely a markup issue if there is one.

  • Printing and Emailing Draft Blog

I have a blog set up that I have not published yet. How can I print it in "save as pdf" format, or email it to a friend?
Would "publish to a folder" be an option for me here? I started to publish to a folder, but there was not place to name the file, so I wasn't exactly sure that the effect of that would be, and I want to make sure it is not yet published online because it's not finished.
    thanks

When you Publish To a Folder iWeb Publishes all of your sites from the Domain.sites project file you are working on. To only Publish individual pages to a Folder in iWeb would require them to be their own Domain.sites project file.

  • Can I email a blog posting to dot mac

One of the features that I liked about blogger was that you could send an email which would automatically post to your blog. I'm using iWeb to publish to a dotmac account. Is there a way to do the same thing?

    No.
It is was possible it would be mentioned in the manual.

  • What is the process to RETAIN all client history including email marketing history, blogs, events et

We have a client that we imported their existing website into the BC platform about a year ago.  They have now contracted with us to build them a new site and we will be using one of the templates we have from BC Gurus. There is already a lot of email marketing history, blog history, orders, customer contact record activity/history within their current active BC site from this past year.
We contacted BC chat to find out if there is a process to support the retention or migration of all of the client history that is already within their existing BC site.  Their basic response was we have to start with a new create site - and we would be able to do multiple contact record exports/imports(very disappointed we cannot do one mass export to re-import!!) to get "most" of their contact record data imported in the new site (also very disappointed that we will lose some of the contact activity history).  ** BUT they said all of the other history such as email marketing, blogs, events, orders etc are not able to be migrated or exported/imported at all, so would be completely lost.
We need support for a workaround process.  Logically there should be a way to prevent loss of history as we are staying on the platform. Is it an option to bring the new template site elements into their existing site and associate it with their existing blogs etc - OR???

    Hi Ruth,
The recommended option to retain all your data history is to apply the template to the existing site.  Once you create a completely new site there's no way to have all that history seamlessly carry over.  You can import but that will only meet part of your requirements.
So basically I would suggest keeping the existing site and somehow getting the new template files and apply to the original site in this case.
    Kind regards,
    -Sidney

  • OS X Server (10.6 Snow Leopard) -Possible to email updates to blog or wiki?

Wondering if it's possible to email-to-blog or email-to-wiki on OS X Server (Snow)?

The mail to wiki works by simply checking the 'Mailing List' option within the Wiki setting. This will create a mailing list for the wiki ( Refer /etc/aliases ) This mailing list can be emailed to, from outside and will appear as a update on the Wiki.
Add the users in the Wiki settings ad they will form the group for the mailing list as well.
    Good luck!

  • Best way to automatically archive IMAP email locally?

This has probably been asked a million times, but the solution eludes me...
I've recently switched one of my email accounts from POP to IMAP. Unfortunately, the email provider is VERY stingy with it's mailbox quotas, limiting me to something like 25MB for the inbox and 50MB total (including trash and junk folders). When the total size of messages in my inbox reaches the quota, the oldest are deleted. Not moved to trash, but completely erased. Poof! Gone! This becomes a problem if I receive several large attachments, as I can suddenly find myself with less than a week's worth of emails in my inbox.
This was not a problem when using POP, since everything was saved on my Mac. I prefer to save old messages for at least a year or more for reference purposes, and would like to do so in a local folder in Mail if possible. Now, the trouble is how exactly to go about this in the most automated way possible? My first thought was to create a rule that would copy each message to an archive folder "On My Mac" as they are received. However, it seems that rules are not applied to messages if I first mark them as read from another device (webmail or my iPod touch) then sync Mail on my Mac at a later time. Can anybody suggest a better solution to assure that I can save a copy of all of my mail locally with limited user intervention (I could manually copy each message every day, but that's a pain)?

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but why do you use such a stingy email provider?
If your email provider supports it, some don't, consider forwarding all emails to a different address (iCloud/GMail)
You don't need to notify senders since the old address continues to work
Replies to your emails will send as [email protected]
emails will sync seamlessly between devices
This blogpost discusses forwarding of emails for those who are using ISP based email

  • Why is my HTML email showing up wrong in different email account?

I've seen this before and I think it has to do with CSS (which I realize isn't supposed to be in emails), but I'm super new to this and have scoured the internet to find out exactly what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it. It shows up properly in my Yahoo acccount, but not in my Gmail accounts (which initially threw it in Spam, if that has anything to do with it). I only know the very basics of HTML and CSS, but still have get this work done and I'm assuming someone will be able to view the code and see what my issue is pretty quick - I hope! It previews in browsers just fine, it's only when I'm click "Forward to a Friend" to send it to myself to test.

So, is it CSS causing this? Are the Tables setup incorrectly? Something not Inline? Not enough info for you? Gmail HATES ME?!
I'm just not seeing it and need to put the question out there while I continue to search for an anwer. Please respond!
    Thanks!

Many mail clients reject images, JavaScript and embedded CSS styles.  For best results use plain text near the top to communicate your message and give a link to the actual web page on your server.
For mail clients that do have limited support for HTML, use uncomplicated tables and inline CSS rules (inside the body tag).
All that meta data description is a red flag to spam filters.  You shouldn't be using meta description or keywords in e-mails.

  • How to get notified when new comment  is left on blog?

I'd like to be notified (preferrably by e-mail) when a new comment is left on my blog. Is that possible in iWeb '09?

When comments are added to your site, a blue dot appears in the iWeb sidebar next to the blog page if you are connected to the Internet. iWeb's icon in the Dock will also display a red badge containing the comment count. ...But no email alerts.
For those, instead of iWeb's blog, you may want to consider using the free, web-based Posterous which provides email notifications aswell as posting blog entries via email:
    http://blog.posterous.com/new-on-posterous-daily-and-wee
As an alternative to setting up a basic hyperlink to your external blog, you can link to it from iWeb's navigation bar:
Create a blank internal page titled "Blog" (actually you can name the page whatever you want.) Then in that Blog page add an HTML Snippet with the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
parent.window.location = "http://www.yourblogname.com"; // change this to your own URL
    </script>
...Once published, clicking on "Blog" in the navbar will immediately redirect to your external Blog page. (Thanks to Cyclosaurus for the code).

  • Comment email alert, is it possible?

    Hi guys,
Is it possible to receive an email alert when comments are posted on my iweb site that is hosted on mobileme? If so how is this achieved?
    Many thanks

  • External DNS server not replicating records to secondary after migration from 2003 to 2012

    Hi
I have a query relating to 2012 Server and DNS.
Last week we de-commissioned our primary external DNS server (Windows 2003 Server) and moved the role over to a new Windows 2012 server.
Since this point replication to our secondary server (3rd party hosted) does not seem to occur and our DNS records seem to have expired on the secondary server as we cannot look these up via nslookup.
I cannot see any failures in the event log of the server; I have checked our external firewall logs and nothing is being blocked inbound/ outbound as far as I can see. And the server’s local firewall has been disabled.
The server is a standalone server in a workgroup with a standard filebased primary zone, with no AD integration and recursion disabled.
When I created the zone I copied the .dns file from the old server and selected this in the interface during the creation of the zone on the new server.  The new server has the same internal and external IP as the old server and the old server is off-line.
I have also manually increased the serial number of the zone and still no joy.
One thing that I have noticed is when I open the zones properties/Name Servers and click edit on the external nameserver I get the infamous "The server with this IP address is not authoritative for the required zone" error.
Any help Would be appreciated, thanks in advance

Nice to hear that you are close in finding the problem. So in short:
You have enabled Zone transfers in DNS management console for the applicable zone
You have verified that your DNS is listening to the correct interfaces
You have enabled firewall rules to accept TCP and UDP traffic to port 53
You have checked if "BIND secondaries" option is applicable to your case
You have initiated a zone transfer from the secondary server

  • RSS feed INTO iweb account

I can't use the blog in iWeb because I live at school and the IT department has a firewall up all over campus. So I use livejournal instead. I'm wondering if there is a way to feed my livejournal into my iWeb, or at least have a link at the top that goes to my livejournal, without having to create an entirely new page within iWeb.

  • RSS feed into newsletter.  Is it possible?

Hello I need an expert's opinion please.
Is it possible to incorporate RSS feed into a newsletter?  Let's say that a client has an RSS feed. Is it possible to add it in a  custom-made newsletter campaign like mailchimp or  any other campaign service? What do I need? Should the client provide me with something like an embedding code? Have you (experts) done anything similar?
    Thank you in advance.
Please note that the newsletter campaign is custom made but it runs perfectly with mailchimp but i haven't add any rss feed as yet.

  • How to host multiple websites?

I have done this with Tiger and Leopard, but with OS X Server there is something I am missing. I have one website mydomain.com running on port 80 with the files at /Library/webserver/documents. I also have my mydomain, com running on port 443 with the files at /Library/webserver/secure. This all works fine. I would like to create another site, othersite.com on port 80 with the files at /Library/webserver/othersite. Every time I create this site I get an error when starting the server. I know Apache will let multiple sites on the same IP using host headers. Any ideas as to what I need to do?

Barry, Jonas is right. As soon as you manually alter the httpd, any use of the GUI will likely overwrite your handcoding.
You need to wrap your head around the GUI. Apple's 'vision' is to sandbox individual accounts. This is wise, but they didn't implement things in the most direct way for those of us who will use this product for VH or massive hosting. Their vision seems to be of the one-shop enterprise model where one company/entity exists, and separate websites, ftp, email, listmail, blogs, and DNS is kind of completely overlooked. Pity -- they hired Eric Z from Starnine years ago, but none of that early vision seems to have transferred to whatever engineers are working on this product.
Here's an idea for the GUI-inclined: You do this with a combination of the Server Admin (SA) and the Workgroup Manager (WGM). Basically, you set up a domain space for a domain using the WGM. Without gruesome detail, here's the steps: Launch SA. From within the SA, you can launch WGM (under View). In the WGM, you can '+' (add) a new account. You can think of it as setting up a 'user' for each domain. This simultaneously creates a login FTP account for this user (unique to each user). Create a strong password for the account (for ftp), and create a home with an upload quota.
Jump back to the SA and you can set up individual sites by creating a new site (domain2.com). Point that domain to the related 'home' Site folder. Also make an entry for additional child domains if that's desired under the Aliases tab (you know, when your customers need to have the www.domain2.com resolve to the same set of files). You'd also need to 'enable' each domain account for serving, and one has to assume your DNS is set up ok.
With regard to your questions about resolving to the IP of the machine, OSXS is listening to whatever static IP(s) you've assigned it in the system prefs or in setup. The SA can be left with an * (any) assignment for the IP for port 80. 443 assignments MUST be for individual certs, and are only needed if you are going to run more than one SSL cert.
Is this what you are asking?
