Email-to-iMessage gateway?

Is there an email-to-iMessage gateway, i.e. a way to send an email to a special address and have it show up on iMessage?
E.g. there are email-to-sms gateways where sending email to [email protected] sends it as an SMS to a Verizon phone.
Is there something similar for iMessage?

The "Share" feature in Finder does not attach the file to either the email or iMessages

When right click on a file and select "Share" using either the email or iMessages, the correct program opens but no attachement is included. It doesn't attach the file neither the folder contents.

I happen to have a Keynote item on my Desktop.
I right clicked this and Selected Messages in Share.
It showed me a Sort of Dialogue window with the item in it and the "To" spot to chose who to send it to.
I typed my own first name and chose my iPhone Number.
It was sent (and zipped to do so).
My Messages main window says "delivered" and it arrived on my iPhone

On the devices go to Settings>Messages>Send and Receive and look. There is no way of doing that remotely.

How to not display email in imessage header OR delete old appleid to free up social email address for imessage

Hi,
I have a business email and a separtate "social" email that i use for friends etc. The business email I have is signed up to Itunes/appstore for my iPad3.
So I want to display my "social" email instead to my contacts that I imessage, but NOT sign up to itunes with this email (i dont mind varifying it).
The PROBLEM is that years ago I must have signed onto itunes and now have the "social" email address as an appleid. Now when I try to use this email for the "recieve at" setting, it does not let me. Also the PROBLEM is that you can never delete an appleid!!!!!!
I DO NOT want to have to add yet another email account for this, and I want one that my friends will recognise!
how do I either:
1) delete that old appleid so I can use this email for imessage?
OR
2) Hide my business email on the "From" imessage header?

I received .mov via email and iMessage and quicktime tells me it can't open and to click tell me more for help

I tried to open .mov from an email and imessage and quicktime says it cant open and to click tell me more but then it doesnt give any information. Ive never had a problem opening videos made from an iphone and emailed before. These arent long clips.

MOV refers to the file container. (MOV is the generic Quicktime file container.) Unfortunately, there cam be many different problems here.
1) People with different system configurations can place audio and/or video data not compatible with your system into MOV files, send them to you, and they will not play if you do not have the proper codecs installed for the QT 7 player to play them. Therefore, it is normally recommended that you determine what audio and video compression formats were used to create the original file. If the files do not open in either the QT X or QT 7 players, then you can check the file's "Get Info" window to see the the Mac OS X Finder recognizes the compressed data format(s). If it doesen't, them you can try opening the file in an alternate media player like VLC (free download) to see if that play can open, play, and/or tell you the compression formats. Lastly, if an app like VLC can't help you, you can download a generic media information app like MediaInfo (also a free download) to examine the file.
2) Once you know the compression formats use in the file and the Mac OS X version, and QT player being used, it is usuall a simple matter to determine if the compression format is supposed to be compatible with the QT player used for your Mac OS X or IOS device. This will tetermine whether or not the file can be played natively or must be converted to a different compression format for playback
3) In a very small percentage of cases, it may turn out that the file sent to you is either correpted or violates a security update installed on your system that prevents plaback. In the case of a corrupted file, about the only thing you can do as request the file be resent to you and hope for better results. In the case of a security problem, the file may be playable and/or convertable by a third-party application that gets around Apple's security trapping that prevents playback.
4) In the future, if you have problems opening or playing a file, please be more specific as to the nature of the problem. Specify the specific modal message you are getting or describe whether the player quits without a message, crashes, or will not open under one user account but does open under another.

Your original message did not indicate that you were trying to play the file on your iPhone. Since the QT 7 player better handles the playback of "legacy" compression formats—especially under Mavericks—many users are advised to install the QT 7 player to handle compression formats no longer playable by the new AVFoundation software embedded in Mavericks. In addition, the QT 7 player is supported by an older 32-bit structure embedded in the Mac OS X v10.6, 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9 operating systems which can still access third-party codecs if your system is configured for their use—another reason for keeping QT 7 installed on a computer system. Unfortunately, such options will not fix blayback problems on an IOS device where it is normally easier to convert unsupported compression formats to natively supported compression formats—primarily H.264 video with AAC audio in MOV, MP4, or M4V file containers.

If you mean that you are not getting notified when a text comes in, go to Settings> Notification Center> Messages.

Welcome to the Support Communities! There are two things I can think of to keep your Stepdad's information separate from yours on the computer and the iPad. On the computer, he should have his own administrative account, and on the iPad he needs his own Apple ID for iTunes and iCloud services. Here is some basic information to get started. I don't know if you have a Mac or Windows computer, so I'll include info for both.)

Follow the steps below to create a new user account in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

I already have two iPhones and an iPod touch, and a Mac set up on my iTunes account. The iPod and Mac each have their own gmail account they use to recieve iMessages (one of them is my Apple ID). The two iPhones each have their own phone number they recieve iMessages from. I now want to set up an iPad on that same iTunes account with iMessage with a third gmail adress to use. When I try to set up iMessage, I am shown the two gmails and phone numbers from my other devices but no option to add another email like all the tutorials say. Is there a limit of 2 emails or something? There is no way I am making a new Apple ID just for iMessage. I tried to look for the option in Messages and Settings. Please tell me if there is a way I can add a third email.

First, make sure the iMessage toggle is actually turned ON. Then, go into "Recieve At" or "Send & Recieve" (depending on your iOS version) and make sure your phone number is the only thing that's checked.

Is there any possible way for Apple to resend the activation email for iMessage?

I wasmad due to something that had happened, so I decided to turn iMessage off on my phone. I went to turn it back on and it said waiting for activaion. You can go to appleid.apple.com on safari and then click on manage appleid on top right of page. enter in your full email as the appleid and then your password and sign into the account. From there next to you primary email account you will see edit click on edit and change the email address and then you can tap on save changes down at bottom right and then you will get an email to that new email that you set up to verify the contact email account for the appleid. Open that email and then click verify now and you will sign into the appleid with your new email and the same password that you have had and click verify and your all set to go with the new email on your appleid acocunt! Change iCloud email in iMessage/Facetime

A few weeks ago I changed my iCloud email address and I haven't found any trouble changing it everywhere EXCEPT for iMessage/Facetime..
When I go on my iPhone to Messages > Send & Receive > Use your Apple ID for iMessage
I keep getting the pop up that wants me to enter the Apple ID password for my PREVIOUS email address.
- If I give in the old password to my new icloud email address it DOESN'T WORK
- If I give in the new password to my new icloud email address it DOESN'T WORK
- If I keep giving in the wrong password (for 5-6 times) it just says I need to reset the password to THAT OLD ICLOUD EMAIL ADDRESS.
I'm getting tired of this, why can't I just change the email address? I mean I see the box to change it but then EVERY SINGLE TIME the pop up goes over it and asks for that password...
Help please? This is really frustrating!

Since both the Messages and Facetime apps are tied to your Apple ID, the first step is to sign out of these two apps and update the Apple ID information. Then you should be able to turn the apps on again in Settings and enter the corrected Apple ID. The links below will explain:
